I kept hearing people talk about startchat but I didn't see the link cause I assumed they were talking about Startcoin so I didn't see the relevance, then it clicked that this is Max Kieser and startchat is a Telegram app.
Interesting story, Over the last year I sometimes mentioned Getgems in a few comment sections on sites I visit, just try to get the word out a bit. Funny thing is I remember posting on Max Kiesers site about Getgems last year sometime. Which makes me wonder if they saw it, and saw what Getgems were doing and thought hey we can do that too and have the PR to push it. We can't be sure but I bet they got the concept from Getgems and who knows initially my post. It seems too much of a coincidence that they used a Telgram client IMO.
But I also say, competition is great, we don't need to be concerned plus at this point no one is really bringing anything like Getgems to the table. So far competitors have stuck a wallet on a messenger app, Getgems with the attention model is so much more than that. good luck to them I say.
Yeap. Good luck to them. Because GetGems is on a roll with its development. Many things are in the right places and with those done, GetGems can easily expand and grow from there. Just saying based on my current observations.

I actually own some Startcoin because I believe it is going to go up in the near future. That being said, I really don't think their phone app can compete with Getgems for many reasons. GG is designed for teens which is absolutely brilliant! Plus, it is designed so that the more users you add and the more you use the app, the more gems you get. Again, brilliant!
There is a reason Startchat has fewer and lower ratings than GG. And again, I say that as someone that owns both coins!

Sorry if you know this but the killer feature is one many don't talk about and thats the attention model, once the advertising platform is built there really will be nothing even close to it. This is really what makes Gems shine. startchat does have the potential to get media attention due to Max and possibly people like Russel Brand who is often linked with his ideas. BUT I honestly feel Getgems seems like the top tier ready for prime time app. I honestly think it looks better than anything coming out of Fb and other big mobile names. Getgems has upped their game quite a bit in the last few months in my opinion.

After a recent update my balance says 0, and I am unable to get my mnemonic seed word out of the app. It accepts my PIN code, then thinks about it for a few seconds before telling me "Could not unlock passphrase". Any way to recover from this?

Teens are the trend setters when it comes to adopting new technologies and apps (look at Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Kik, etc.) If teens adopt a new app, their parents will soon adopt it, and their parents will tell their friends. Imagine if there were an easy way for a parent to send their kid money for food or a cab ride? Well, GetGems solves this problem. That's why I asked earlier about the comprehensiveness of the auto-destruction feature of chats & pix. Teens do what teens do, and an app that features "Strong Privacy!!" will encourage teens to do a certain intimate something with their "friends with benefits." That's why I was asking whether the auto-delete feature hashes the posts, pix, etc. into unrecoverability. Call me whatever, but I had a vision of a teen who's deeply into that kind of intimate sharing: her cell phone is stolen and falls into the wrong hands. The hands of someone who's tech-savvy enough to undelete, and who has no qualms about sending what he finds to a certain network of dark-web creeps. This worry was prompted by the fact that I have two nieces, both prepubescent right now. It began with me imagining that I introduced GetGems to them, they liked it, became regular users, and so on. I'm still waiting on an answer to that question.

You seem to be implying that having strong privacy and the ability to delete pics, etc. is a bad thing because it might encourage kids to be more reckless than they might otherwise be. When I was a teenager my girlfriend and I had sex anywhere we could. I even remember being on a school trip on a school bus and I was masturbating her under a blanket, lol. Kids are horny and reckless and they are going to do what they are going to do. More security, if anything, might make the app more appealing to teens but it certainly doesn't mean that with weaker security they might somehow behave better.

I THINK his point is more about can someone recover deleted photos, chat. Well I assume not cause that the whole point of deleting a message, is there any messenger that once you clear messages etc they can be recovered anyway? While I don't have the facts, with telegram focused on privacy then I'm confident, delete means delete. and of course encryption end to end. You can also set messages to auto destruct. telegram i think doesn't have central storage of people's stuff, snapchat was susposed to be the fail safe option for teens but they were found to be storing on central servers.

The only reason i still haven't install this app on my android phone is permissions. And i was here from the beginning, but still waiting for a fewer permissions required.
