Something i always wondering is " what port do you guys think is better 10k or 1M" and why?
Forcing the gear to send just shares over 1M lost the chances of some 10k share hitting the block?
Or those 10k shares are just statisticals?

Since you need a share well over 1 billion  I bolded the correct answer.

6,353,030,562,984  is how big you need.

So...anyone with even a 13.5th S9 has a chance at getting a block! In regards to the diff for 10k or 1M, I didn't clearly understand...does that mean 1M diff port is better than the standard port? Please clarify! Thanks.

It does not really Matter.
10k is starting diff, it goes higher or lower depending on your device and connection.
1M is the diff for rentals like nicehash but you also can run your s9 on the 1M port.
Luck will be the same. Always. Luck is proportional to hashrate.

Just imagine a connection that sends packages of 10k or 1M.
So you have 100x10k or 1x1M packages. Which connection is faster?

think of a strainer  that lets in anything bigger then a 10k wide piece of food

think of a strainer that lest in anything bigger the a 1m wide piece of food.

both will let in  a 6.35 trillion piece of food  which is the winning size.

the 10k does let in a lot of losers  from 10k to 1m

the 1m does not let in any losers from 10k to 1m

from you end a guy trying to toss in a 6.35 trillion size of food either filter affects you

on the pools end the sever has more work on the 10k size  since a lot of numbers come in from 10k to 1 million.

if ck pool accepted as size shares from 1 to infinity the server does more work.

I would argue a 250k size share for an s9  helps to lesson work for ck's servers
A 1000k or 1m size may be bigger then needed

but if ck has a good server  from your viewpoint 10k 50k 100k 250k 500k or 1m don't mean much  to him or you

since this pool has hit lots of blocks I think his server is fine  with 10k to 1m

My only 2 solo blocks here were with 20T rentals (about 3 years ago).  Man, I wish I would have held on to that 50BTC!!!
Completely understand that feeling.
I hit big.
If.i would of held on I could of been a millionaire, but money was scarce and required.
Just means I still have my time to shine and be come a millionaire   Wink

Is there any point to any of this if your best share is only 45m?
Seems like any usb miner up to 15TH will never find anything

I think the last block was a low power miner.
Remember that even 10PH miners are just made up of lots of regular sized mining hardware.  It is ALWAYS small mining hardware that actually finds it, even if it's from a big farm.

Hello,
When you refer to (All you need to confirm you are mining to your own address is to examine the coinbase and template sent to you over stratum), does this mean adding my address to the text box and seeing the resulting link?
Also, I am mining with an Antminer V9, the Blocks Found Column and Best Shares show nothing? Any idea why?
Thanks

No, you can use the master cgminer code in --decode mode and it will tell you exactly what you're mining. Antminers are notorious for buggy code at detecting best shares and blocks found, but there's a good chance blocks found is SUPPOSED to be zero for almost everyone since they're so rare to find.

New here with questions, sorry.
Will --decode work outside of the V9?
What version is needed?
Do you have a link to a windows 10 already built version, I don't know how to compile yet?
Is antpool solo the same as ckpool solo, all luck?
Is a 15gh/s usb miner as lucky as the v9?

No, it won't even work with the V9 since they used a bastardised version of cgminer.
You need the latest from the master cgminer git. https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer
No windows versions since google kept trying to flag all windows binaries as viruses.
Antpool solo is I dunno what, ask them since it's nothing to do with this thread.
A 15gh miner is as luck as 15gh. All miners are only as lucky as their hashrate; nothing more, nothing less.

  • Do you think a V9 running on solo.ckpool non stop for a year could ever find a block?
  • What happens if I am on solo.ckpool and the miner goes down for any reason such as power or internet, is this like starting over or is it always just luck mining at any point?

it is possible for your v9 to hit a block on cksolo,  but here are your odds

Chance per block: 1 in 11,744,125<--------------thats about every 10 mins you have that chance   Shocked

Chance per day: 1 in 81,556<-----------------thats how many chances a day you put in  Shocked

Time estimate: 223 years  <------------you should hit a block by then  Grin

Now if you ever restart your miner or lose power or no internet, you aint losing out on much- as this pool only matters if you solve the big equation,
