Lower the freq it mines at and see if it comes back. These are old machines now so more than likely that chip wont come back but its worth lowering the mining freq just to try it out.
chip is on "o" every time i reboot the machine, let me try lower the freq to see if that work, thanks for fast reply. It will show the "o" to start with usually but then after a little while it will drop out to an "x". Lowering the freq will draw less voltage so it might last longer before dropping out or stay good permenantly. One chip wont affect the overall hashrate though so don't panic Chip fails again, well..i will follow your advice, and stay cool with that, really thanks for fast reply bro!

Hopefully you find a sweet spot on the freq and it stays good.

I know this one, open up the case, inside you will find a SD card. Pull out the card an push it back in to reset it. That worked for me and a lot of others.
Barbara
THIS WORKED!!! I had a solid red light and no beep after moving the Antminer 10 feet changing to different power source. I also reseated the ribbon cable and all of the pci cards.

Hi Guy's i've been running my s4 for over a year now, have had a few problems nothing i could not get my head round, last week a fuse tripped in the house but only the side with the router connected to, so all the miners started beeping away. I was at work so the wife turned all them of so they could grab an IP address but the s4 does not work only a steady red light and flashing amber light and it clicks. So i bought a new PSU of a company it does not tell if it's new few scratches on the new psu. But fitted that psu got the same problem, do you know if the Ethernet connection point could cause the fault or do you think the company has sold me a dud PSU. Thanks in advance.

No. Only you have free power and the miner cost you 15 dollars.

Got an S4 that is doing something funny with one of the card's temperature reporting.
Chain 2 reports 0C at power up, rises to 10C for an hour or more and then suddenly reports 80C and stops hashing, with the stop hashing feature turned off the fans go to max RPM and the unit continues to function just fine. At all times it hashes at 2,xxx GHs, all ASICs report as oooooooooooooooooooooo on that chain and all the cards are about the same temp to the touch. The room it is in is about 10C, and 3 of the chains are reporting 25~30C. Clearly it is a reporting problem and not an actual overtemp.
I would be content to let it run this way other than the increased fan speed and noise. Is there a way to mark off the temp sensor so that it reports 0deg so the fans don't go full bore?
Also, as I understand it, the sensor is a LM75a like arduino uses, it wouldn't be too much trouble to just replace it. I have already reseated all the cables and the controller so I think it does come down to the sensor.
Any thoughts?

Hello, during the past few days my Antminer S4 stopped working and I don't quite know the reason.
When I turn the miner on, all the fans work at full speed and the LED lights (both the red and green) are turned on until the IP address, hash/s and Temperature are displayed on the screen, then the fans go to the minimum speed and none of the LED lights works (neither the green nor the red), and the miner stays in that state (0 h/s) until I manually turn it off.
I assume the PSU isn't the problem because it has the green light when the miner is on.
When the problem started, I first checked the status of the S4 from my computer, most of the boards had a couple of "x" on the miner status page. Then I flashed a new firmware into the miner and suddenly the "x" turned into "o" which should mean the boards are working properly, but still the miner had a hashing rate of 0. I checked the boards while the miner was on and all of them have their red lights turned on, which should mean that they are working properly. I've tried to turn it off for a day disconnected from the power source and still nothing.
The only thing that seems to have worked was to remove the SD card, wait 5 min, and then put it back in and restart the miner. Then it worked for about 2 hours and suddenly the hashrate dropped again to 0.
