1041  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: June 25, 2018, 11:29:34 PM
I came across a concept that might be related to altcoins more than it being related to bitcoin, so I decided to bring it up here:

Question: What is a  permissioned blockchain? What is the difference between a permissioned blockchain and a normal traditional blockchain?
1042  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: June 25, 2018, 11:25:57 PM
Hey guys, I just wanted to say thank you to pugman, billgator, and those that gave genuine answers to the questions they've asked. I haven't participated in this Q&A but I have been following it. I have learned a lot of things from this thread and I think this is a brilliant way of encouraging forum members to learn more about Bitcoin.

It's sad to see how many people in this thread have taken advantage of this by attempting to get away with plagiarism just to earn quick merit  Roll Eyes.
Thank you for the kind words. You should participate in this too, doesn't matter if you're right or wrong,so long as you get to learn something.
So not only has this thread provided people like you and I with fantastic knowledge but its also led to people who are trying to abuse the system via plagiarism in order to earn merit getting banned. Thats the very definition of 2 birds 1 stone.
I was actually thinking of moving this thread to off-topic, so that bots could be nuked, but the more they get nuked, the more bots seem to appear.
I didn't fully understand the meaning of it. But here is my understanding, stealth address is like a one-time address that is given to the sender so that the sender can only see their own transaction and not the other transactions.
It gives additional security in the transaction. That's all I understand. Still confuse a little bit.

Read the replies above, I'll update the OP soon Tongue. Haven't done that in a while.. Lips sealed
your question is just Bitcoin or both Bitcoin and Altcoins?
Read the title of this thread.
1043  Economy / Reputation / Re: A question regarding duplicate/alt accounts that join bounties! on: June 24, 2018, 11:58:51 PM
There's always an hidden motive that isn't obvious to those who are viewing it from the outside. It could be because they've previously had run ins with each other before or it could be something as petty as someone getting a translation job over another.
A fair point indeed.
This problem could be solved if like there is a way for bounty managers not to allow similar entries into the sheets, and also if they do their job well in the first place.

There is an option in Google forms which allows form owners to allow only one submission per person. Also a manager can use conditional formatting to highlight multiple entries and put them on hold until they find enough proof to believe one entry as legit.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4456718.msg40012099#msg40012099
But I doubt most of the bounty managers to use it. They are already busy enough to enroll their alts and earn free money.
Latest "he is my fwiend" story. Do you think they are friends? Smiley
I am not certain because of the involvement of aTriz and blockfolio especially after the post quality change by aTriz.
Which DT member does that  Undecided
A few members actually. I don't want to list names but they have publicly mentioned about it a few months ago. Not sure if they still do.
1044  Other / Meta / Re: Application for a merit source on: June 24, 2018, 09:18:06 PM
@pugman,you sometimes forget to press space when you are typing, are you trying to seem different?that's why you would do this, right?I'm sure that nobody suspects you of being an alt account of somebody else
Huh? I don't forget to press space. But I do use the space button.  Huh
keep up the good work. Wink
Thanks. Wink
1045  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 23, 2018, 09:34:05 PM
a) I deleted my negative trust from Gleb.

Why? you no longer want that loan to be paid? if so then removing the negative trust make sense, thanks for your generosity.

Another individual purchased the debt from me.
Digaran's mind gonna be fucked up now.
1046  Other / Meta / Re: [Guide] Reporting effectively on: June 23, 2018, 01:10:56 AM
(Edit:  some guy tried to match me so I left you another.  I always need to be the best lol)
That some guy is his alt Angry
Welsh, awesome work dude. Really cool stuff that would help out reports. I just use two words and end the report.  Tongue
1047  Economy / Reputation / Re: A question regarding duplicate/alt accounts that join bounties! on: June 22, 2018, 11:49:23 PM
Apart from connecting them with "sent/received transactions to similar addresses", how to accurately check for their connection (for the following case)?
Sometimes this should also not be the case. One or two transactions doesn't make the two accounts in question alts of each other. This issue has escalated so many times but DT members refrain from removing the tag because they have heard the " He is my friend, story" so many times. One more thing is that,DT members block the accounts immediately after they tag. That is not good, tbh.

Regarding the OP, I don't know why someone would want to damage the reputation of a bounty hunter? I have seen a few cases but never understood the reason behind it. This problem could be solved if like there is a way for bounty managers not to allow similar entries into the sheets, and also if they do their job well in the first place.
1048  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some basic crypto scam you should know to avoid loss your hard worked money. on: June 22, 2018, 11:39:16 PM
Pump and dumps aren't scams but they are unethical. I believe they are even illegal in some countries(?). Solid article, though.

You should probably add:

HYIP schemes or websites giving returns that is too good to be true. You should mention about those airdrops too, they have known to be used for scamming in the past.
1049  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Another CEX.IO SCAM on: June 22, 2018, 11:34:49 PM
Can you post any proof?

Also a few details that might help:
Twitter: https://twitter.com/cex_io ( You can contact them here if you want)
Forum PM: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=148073 (they were active today, so try your luck).
1050  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to transfer coin to Ledger Nano S? on: June 22, 2018, 10:59:16 PM
I don't know why you have to write this article. Mainly because ledger already explains how to use this and has solutions to most of the problems too. And this is too basic. The only person who will actually find it useful is a total newbie who doesn't even know what a ledger nano is. Also you didn't explain anything about the ledger manager or how the bitcoin app is installed. You have provided half baked information.

Don't take this the wrong way though.  Smiley I hope you can come with better useful information. Good luck.
1051  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Coinbase vs Blockchain on: June 22, 2018, 10:44:37 PM
Coinbase wallets have are secured with private keys LOL, it's just that users don't have any access to it. Every user needs to agree to have wallet not matter if they are from The US or Europe (you don't make sense). As far as I remember you can see the TX ID for each transaction (I wonder if you ever used Coinbase before)
Is it even possible to have a wallet without private keys...? Lips sealed

As for the TX ID, I use the mobile version of coinbase, and you can't see the TX ID nor can you see which address you send or receive your bitcoins. The coinbase app sucks real bad. I can't even see the address when I try to ask for a receiving address, I get a QR code rather.
1052  Other / Archival / Re: PAY FOR REPLY on: June 22, 2018, 10:13:25 PM
Use the "report to moderator" button on the bottom right of the thread, and include the link. Nice job on reporting this though, but it doesn't really need a new thread for it to be dealt with as all of it can be done within the report field.
oh ok, help me report it, on report i cant post a pic mate, so i made a thread
I reported on your behalf.

You cannot post pics in the report field, rather send the link of the picture as in your case: https://i.imgur.com/510ktjZ
Or just send them this topic's link as a reference.
1053  Other / Meta / Re: Commercial interest could be used to help control spam. on: June 22, 2018, 09:44:17 PM
I created a chatroom for merit sources and dts but that seems to have dropped in activity for the summer
I assume it is in discord or something? A forum chatroom would be much better. Probably.
I actually quite like that checkbox suggestion. You could report in bulk, and I don't think that this should be put behind a rank as it could be useful for anyone that reports. I know multiple scenarios where this would save both time, and effort. Even though I have a 4 second cool down on a report I still run into it now, and then.
This has been discussed before and nothing ever happened. Just like the new rank idea.

theymos? Come on, do it. Bring in the 1 million merit requirements: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4419950.msg39398356#msg39398356

Welsh, there were discussions for Bitcointalk Pro account with no cloudfare proxy and theymos agreed to it, but he just has to figure a way out for that: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2837870.msg29104852#msg29104852
1054  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Discussion is not Bitcoin Price Prediction Discussion on: June 22, 2018, 09:40:29 PM
People don't read the rules, you expect them to read that? They won't. They are busy creating topics which they will later spam it with their alts.

Most of the topics there pollute the board, and there is other option than reporting them or just leaving it alone.
1055  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Distribution Slowing? on: June 22, 2018, 09:35:16 PM
We need more people to report, unless something solves the spam problem...
Hah. I would rather believe if someone says that signatures are banned but this- no way.

I haven't been doing any crazy investigation, or even looked at many numbers, but it would seem to me that the rate of merit distribution is slowing down. I might be incorrect, and it might just be going to places that are unaccounted for, by my lazy eyes, but it seems like it is slowing down noticeably. I am wondering if this is the intended pace, and if I am wrong about the pace changing, any input would be appreciated. I'm not particularly concerned about receiving merit, but it seems strange that the "Top-Merited Users" list remains stagnate when the users on the list are certainly not receiving merit at their original pace.

Help me understand the state of the merit system, in this regard.
Oh hell yeah. People rather find it much easier to merit people who they know and people who post in real discussions. Everyone else don't get enough merits or merits at all.
I may be one of the culprits in this slowdown. I've got quite a lot going on in my life, couple this with the fact that it seems even harder to find meritable posts, and I'm not awarding as many as i could. I'm back in 3 figures with awardable merits, and I'm starting a few threads in the hope that they will generate a few decent posts. The Fit to Talk English project seems to have gone quiet, and this may be my fault, as I haven't given it the time it deserves recently. I'm disappointed that the non-English members have not been using it, and this is despite the promise of at least 5 merits for some good translated posts from the local language boards.
The reason fittotalk failing might be because of lack of interest from others. Ain't anybody any shitposter got time for that. He would trade merits than doing some hardwork. Kudos to you,Jet Cash, you have done a great job being a merit source, but the standards should be little reduced. They are one main reason causing the merit distribution to slowdown.
1056  Other / Meta / Re: Commercial interest could be used to help control spam. on: June 22, 2018, 08:47:14 PM
I think they are open to interpretation for a reason to prevent users finding a loophole, and exposing that. I'm not sure whether a clear amount of rules would help either as the majority of people who are breaking the current guidelines haven't read the thread.
I meant that those rules could only help the members who are actually interested and care about the forum. As a guideline sort of thing
This is interesting. What sort of access? I know I remember seeing a name suggestion of the new rank; "Mythical" or some sort of variation as that.
Maybe get access to the hidden special board which includes staff sub-forum and what not, maybe just the ability to read things over there and not make any posts?

If not that, then maybe have ability to make multiple reports at one time: For example, click on checkboxes and then report a few posts as shitposting or something like that. Have a custom title maybe? Upgrade signature slots? Ability to embed videos? Change the background? Have privacy oriented settings specially made for these members? A chat room for multiple members?

I can think of many more but not sure if these are all possible.
1057  Other / Meta / Re: Who hosts Bitcoin Talk? on: June 22, 2018, 08:26:42 PM
Cyrus is the responsible for the domain name and is also an admin.
Sirius != Cyrus

Are you sure about this?
Sirius (Martti Malmi)  is from Finland while Cyrus  is for sure romanian.

Still, I'm wondering where bitcointalk might be hosted...
Bruh even aTriz knows that:
..the most advanced thing I know regarding code is "!" means no in code.

Especially after this whole mishap: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3038096.msg31887541#msg31887541

Anyone notice the post quality change in aTriz's recent posts?
Still, I'm wondering where bitcointalk might be hosted...
Where as in, which country? If yes, its probably United States(?).
1058  Other / Meta / Re: Commercial interest could be used to help control spam. on: June 22, 2018, 07:20:05 PM
A few things that might help this idea work more effectively is:

Hire new mods, with or without a stipend.

Have a new rank after reaching legendary, where members have a little more access to help the forum in possible ways(I am sure theymos knows the best Wink)

An official set of rules created by any of the two admins, so that things become much clearer.

And, sorry to say it but I don't see a change coming unless some members from the DT1 get really pissed at one point and start tagging bounty managers that pay for spam posts.
Some DT2 members have tagged shitposters and the outcome was not exactly what I have expected...
Nah. None of the DT1 members have such attitude. A few DT1 member/s are even inactive. DT2 members, they tag and then you see, alot of threads saying bullshit about abuse or whatever. And that crap has got to end. The trust system is not in a good state, seriously not.
1059  Other / Meta / Re: "Guide" subforum on: June 22, 2018, 01:45:15 PM
Oh Hell yeah. I would personally love that, I would love to read guides not only about this forum but crypto in its entirety.

I am writing a guide explaining how DT works and it shall be up and running soon. I probably also will make a V2 of shorena's One thread to link them all since that has been outdated, and the last update was February of last year. Thoughts?
1060  Other / Meta / Re: Application for a merit source on: June 21, 2018, 11:58:43 PM
I just took a peek through your recent merit history, and it seems like a majority of your (recent) merit has been sent to legendaries, reputable hero members and the more "famous" lower ranking members. While this isn't a bad thing, it might be something that will count against you when being considered as a merit-source. This is just my own thoughts, but if I was looking for new merit-sources, it would be people that are distributing merit in a unique and useful way, rather than piling onto the same legendaries and the lower members that are already on path to ranking up. You know, a "find a couple diamonds in the rough" mentality might go a long way in the regard.

I requested your full merit history in Loyce's thread, so maybe we'll have something redeeming going back a little further.  Kiss
I realized that, but finding good posts ain't an easy task on bitcointalk. That is for sure. I am still looking for a lot of posts, reading them and their post histories and never does it end well. I also don't keep tab on which rank member I merit, but I have recently started focusing on that. I have been telling this a lot,but the existence of good normal posters with actual posts is like a 1%. Every where you see bots, you see plagiarism and for god sake, those facebook/ twitter reports. Those are annoying as hell. Thanks for your input bill, it is really helpful and I am still looking for posters to merit. I promise that I would try my best to find good posters who aren't legendaries Tongue.
