1041  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Another sim swap scam on: March 08, 2023, 11:56:07 AM
It's definitely the users responsibility to secure their account but CB could do better when it comes to getting people off SMS 2FA. At the very least, it should be tagged as weak (or something similar) and not "moderately secure" as this could make people complacent. I'm not sure if this has been changed but when you sign up, there's a step called 2fa but you can only setup SMS 2fa...
1042  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: March 06, 2023, 04:13:11 PM
This topic seems pretty dead, but in case someone is reading...

Since a while now, more than a month, I can't see charts anymore on the bitfinex website. In the app it works fine, but when I log into the website, the area where the chart should be is just blank, doesn't matter if I'm in trading, derivatives or lending, it's just a blank area where the chart used to be.

I'm using the latest firefox. I also tried logging in on a completely new firefox profile without any addons etc, still no charts.

Is there anyone else with this problem? Or better yet, is there a solution?

I logged in and it works fine on my end - firefox with ublock origin. Have you looked into this basic troubleshooting article of theirs? see: https://support.bitfinex.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023364834-FAQ-on-Chart-and-User-Interface-loading-problems

I'm guessing you've also tried the "clear and refresh chart settings" button?
1043  Economy / Exchanges / Re: loss insurance Scam or Legit? on: March 06, 2023, 09:54:32 AM
Just another cookie cutter website scammers use a lot. They're even using a snapshot of a previous scam exchange called coinasia. I guess they don't care anymore since someone will fall for it regardless.

Supporting threads:
Be aware of COINASIA and BKF Scam!!!
Coinasia and BKF possible scam?

I hope you did not send them big amounts of money and personal documents op.
1044  Economy / Services / Re: Is anyone here willing to do crypto to amazon goods? on: March 05, 2023, 06:03:00 PM
Some people in the purse subreddit hinted it could be because products are coming from a 3rd party seller. If that's the case with you, this could be worth trying:

Most likely, Dude doesn't have "share address with 3rd party sellers." checked off on his wishlist options. This limits the gifting to Amazon Fulfilled Orders Only So, try that.

As a last resort, you could look into package forwarders available in your place but you probably have to switch to fiat payments for this.
1045  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdrawal small amount of BTC from Binance on: March 02, 2023, 12:14:07 PM
Afaik transfers between binance users should be free of charge so perhaps you could try to find a reputable user who's fine with that setup. I'm not sure what kind of payment channels do you have for fiat but it'd be best if it doesn't charge much for transfers and popular. You could try at the Currency Exchange board or in your local board - if that's allowed.
1046  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto ATMs in Tokyo? on: March 01, 2023, 12:49:40 PM
Did a quick search and found a VLOG of some dude who went and use the ATM in tokyo tower, see: https://youtu.be/0wew3x69m3U [no eng sub] and from there the operator's website can be found: https://www.gaia-btm.com

Bear in mind that I don't understand the language hence everything is machine translated so there could be inaccuracies.

1. No mention of buying can be found, only selling.

BTM is an automatic cryptocurrency exchange machine that allows you to exchange cryptocurrencies into Japanese yen and withdraw them on the spot. Currently, it supports four types of crypto assets: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin. You can withdraw up to 100,000 yen at a time.

*The limit (number of times) is up to 100,000 yen per time, 3 times a day, 5 times a week, 20 times a month, and 5 million yen a year. (However, depending on the user's occupation, financial assets, income, etc., there may be a limit (number of times) of up to 2 million yen per year.)

2. KYC/identity verification is required.

Quote
We are working to prevent financial crimes by preventing fraudulent use through impersonation through identity verification when registering users, two-step authentication when using BTM, and monitoring camera images.

3. I should also mention that you have to register online and wait for your designated card to arrive before you can use the machine.

Quote
Step 01: Register for use from your smartphone or computer. After completing the registration, we will mail the user card to the registrant's home.

4. It appears they charge 20%???.... that's pretty high.

Quote
The fee rates stated in are set as follows.

〇Crypto asset exchange fee  Currency Exchange Fee Equivalent to 20% of the Yen amount you wish to withdraw

*The exchange fee is the amount of Japanese yen that the customer wishes to withdraw, and the fee rate set by the Company (consumption tax  This exchange fee is added to the desired yen amount to be disbursed.  The amount of crypto assets obtained by dividing this value by the transaction rate will be the amount of crypto assets to be sent to the customer.
1047  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anonymity vs. KYC: The Pros and Cons of Cryptocurrency Exchanges on: February 28, 2023, 02:46:17 PM
A lot of people actually trade on discord, facebook, telegram, etc. without or a with a filmsy “escrow”.
I don't have any social media accounts, but from the number of reports on here, Reddit, and Twitter of people who have been scammed on social media, I would steer well away from using them to trade unless either you already know and trust the person you are trading with, or you are using a mutually agreed on reputable escrow. There have been plenty of such reports of scammers suggesting an escrow, and the escrow was working with the scammer all along. Pick one of the reputable escrows from this forum.

There is also the currency exchange board on this forum.

I think I phrased it poorly. I meant to say try to invite them over in one of the mentioned no-kyc p2p exchanges. I've been to a couple of local communities myself and none of the people I've talked to knows localcryptos, etc. (this was way before LC's shutdown). We have good no-kyc exchanges right now however a lot of people still have not heard of its existence but everyone knows social media - i guess i should not be surprised lots of people trade there.

In future, I believe there will be less platforms with non-KYC services.

Perhaps this is just my faith in the community but I imagine people would still pursue developing/maintaining alternatives to kyc'd platforms since restrictions drove people to such ideas in the first place. I think there'd be lesser no-kyc exchanges in the future as well however, when it comes to this, quality outweighs quantity.
1048  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GETINTOPC BIGGEST SCAM SITE on: February 28, 2023, 08:09:27 AM
or just stay away from anything craked/pirated...

Some free lancers or other users needed want these softwares for free and doesn't want to pay 100$ yearly for full version. Without key you cannot get full access to required software. for example in the free screen recorder watermark will not removed. Most of the free lancers and some bounty hunters also using these free screen recorder.

It all boils down on which is more important for them: saving a few hundred bucks or whatever that goes on their PC? Yes, I guess there will be reputable sources for cracked software but you’ll never know when will money be tight for them so… essentially, it's a gamble. A good middle ground approach is to compartmentalize - don’t mix the important stuff with the high risks.

Sorry to say but I didn't find any such situation from the getintopc software applications. Even though I am using Windows 10 and Windows 8 for a long time and every time whatever-related software I need to download which is paid or even free I prefer downloading it from this website and everything is still ok..

Selective scamming could've happened where some bad apples are mixed in.
1049  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anonymity vs. KYC: The Pros and Cons of Cryptocurrency Exchanges on: February 27, 2023, 11:58:33 PM
Honestly: I really don't believe in P2P trading, I can't find a trusted person in my local area to do P2P transactions.
Where have you looked? Try some of the exchanges listed here: https://kycnot.me/. In particular, Bisq, AgoraDesk, and RoboSats are the best at the present time. And if there isn't someone in your local area, you can still trade via bank transfer with people further afield.

If ever the known no-kyc p2p exchanges returned no results. I say try hitting some social networking platforms as well and see if it’s possible to invite someone over. A lot of people actually trade on discord, facebook, telegram, etc. without or a with a filmsy “escrow”. These people most likely don’t know there are better alternatives to do p2p that’s why they settle for such…
1050  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: GETINTOPC BIGGEST SCAM SITE on: February 27, 2023, 08:04:44 AM
or just stay away from anything craked/pirated... it's one of the most common ways to infest your device with malwares. Storing your seed online unprotected also make the work easier for hacker/s. Look into offline storage and make more than two copies e.g. paper, steel plates, washers etc.

This is a good time to go over your cybersecurity, this could help: https://github.com/Lissy93/personal-security-checklist
1051  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Thought one of my online wallets was hacked and robbed on: February 25, 2023, 08:27:01 AM
There is one way to stop 2fa as far as I know, is by contacting wallet support where you tell them that you have lost access to 2fa and they do some questions including information from your account to know that you are the actual account holder, such as the amount of assets you have in your wallet and also the date of the last deposit or withdrawal and such Things, if you pass the questions successfully they will deactivate your 2fa so you can activate it again.

I don't think that's how it work with their private key wallets because that would be against what they claim:

We cannot (and don’t want to): view your balance, view your address book, make transactions on your behalf, confiscate your wallet, or lock you into our service.

Some platforms are less strict about 2fa as they only ask for an email or phone number to verify.

This is the case with them, see: https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000286426-How-do-I-disable-two-step-verification-2FA-
1052  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Something like ebay, but with crypto payment on: February 23, 2023, 11:33:28 PM
I mean, not just buying, but even the selling for crypto. Is there anything?
I do not want to sell anything special, just ordinary  stuff.

If you don't mind F2F/in-person deals, craiglist could be an alternative. They let you mark your postings indicating you accept crypto payments, at the same time an option to filter such postings is also there. But mind you, there’s no affiliated escrow there as it's geared towards in person deals. You can still do purely online deals but it's likely that people would be very much cautious with your sell posts.
1053  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's highest amount instant exchanges can be trusted with? on: February 22, 2023, 07:44:34 PM
Would you agree that it's better to do several small transactions rather than one big one?

Yes but it's only to make it less risky for you.

As you already know, most instant exchanges are centralized and can freeze your funds. The idea is that when they do, only a portion of what you're trying to swap gets locked as you did not send them all at once and did a one by one exchange. Further, there's a notion that the higher the amount, the more likely for it to move up on their radar. However, do remember these exchanges also collects user information e.g. addresses connected, IP, etc. that could identify related transactions so I'd say make it different each time.
1054  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Thought one of my online wallets was hacked and robbed on: February 22, 2023, 04:04:32 PM
I am just wondering if the 2fa would automatically be switched off if someone used the seed phrase because then it would not really matter, when you have the seed phrase all the security  no longer matters

The 2fa is only on your blockchain.com account which means if someone sweeps/import your seed using a compatible wallet like electrum, they don't need the 2fa anymore. Also, worth nothing that your 2fa should remain intact even if the hacker used this method to drain your funds. This is why I think the perp had to disable your 2fa to access your wallet which means they didn't have your seed at that time.
1055  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Thought one of my online wallets was hacked and robbed on: February 22, 2023, 02:38:55 PM
Also don't think op's seed was exposed/or it came from electrum because there would be no need for the hacker to disable blockchain.com's 2fa... As pointed above, it's pretty easy if you have access to the email account: you just need to approve the email request and your 2fa is gone. I think you can try to request account logs to blockchain.com, it's likely that they deleted corresponding emails.

Whatever the case, you should drop blockchain.com. Even for small amounts, there are better ones out there.
1056  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anonymity vs. KYC: The Pros and Cons of Cryptocurrency Exchanges on: February 20, 2023, 10:41:57 PM
Privacy matters aside, identity verification/KYC can be a very inconvenient process.

For instance, you can do all the basics DOs and DON'Ts e.g. photo should be clear, text should be readable, etc. and still fail. There should be lots of threads complaining about how they have to try multiple times. There were also cases where people have to wait for days to be approved, worse is if the software can't verify them and they have to be put thru manual verification which is a longer process. This reason alone is enough for me to prefer no-kyc ones since I don't need to be subjected to any of that.
1057  Economy / Exchanges / Re: why this wallet address is not showing ? on: February 19, 2023, 03:22:47 AM
And If I sent a fund from those exchangers how will the receiver identify mine

Do you have a specific situation in mind?

As for me, I just give a unique address to someone so I can easily identify it's from them. Since I've only given it to a single person and not expecting anyone else, I've never confused certain payments with someone else. Perhaps this is something you may wanna communicate to the other party? But of course, if you need a proof then signing a message it is as others pointed out.
1058  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin testnet faucets and scam ads on: February 17, 2023, 10:04:54 PM
I noticed their traffic has been significantly dropping the past few months perhaps it was part of the reason, if this was a recent change, that is. Putting disclaimers similar to what the forum does could be a middle ground approach but I could see why they won't care...
1059  Economy / Exchanges / Re: I can't convert my btc to usdt on coinbase. on: February 17, 2023, 08:48:49 AM
How's the conversion preview looking? There were cases of crypto to crypto conversions having a 1 dollar CB fee... if we're talking about a very small amount, perhaps look if the fee is eating your trade, otherwise, start writing to coinbase ig.

What are you trying to buy op? In any case, you can check:

1. purse.io
2. overstock.com
3. newegg.com

Alternatively, you can try the gift card route, see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5208530.0
