That, however, is going to be halved from April this year, and halved again from April 2024.

Yep, and this means that we better get prepared for the worse, since we cannot really rely on the threshold value. It's simply bound to become - sooner or later - too small.
Let's focus on the more productive ideas.
1062  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: February 12, 2023, 05:48:20 PM
@TryNinja: This is just for debug purposes in case you will ever be interested in debugging it when you'll be back (the tool is impressively good even if this remains as it is).
You know that the bot is missing merits now and then. Now the bot has missed one merit from DdmrDdmr's latest spree and I have the proof  Cheesy (you will see 4 relevant lines at left side and 5 on the right side).

1063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Withdrawing Bitcoin off the radar on: February 12, 2023, 05:15:57 PM
Or just stay below your CGT threshold.

If you need to sell a large amount, e.g. to buy a house

In my country the threshold is 40 EUR/transaction for a total of 120 EUR/year.
Between this tiny amount and the amounts needed to buy a house there are plenty of use cases for wanting to sell Bitcoin for fiat without KYC.

I've started accumulating from scratch; wouldn't the whole amount get taxed since it's basically a source of income? That's why I thought it'd be 24%.

You could have been mining those coins long ago. Or you could have been mining altcoins with your computer and sell for bitcoin.
It's not mandatory you've actually worked for them, especially if you already have a day job...

While there isn't an official tax framework for cryptocurrencies yet, withdrawing a few thousand euros to my bank account wouldn't look too good, which is my main concern.

If only the bank is your concern then a crypto card may do the job, just they need KYC and you may not be able to withdraw more than 2-300 EUR/day at the ATMs. You can, however, use them for daily shopping. Just (again) yeah, they're KYC unless you go for the very "underground" anon cards AlexPCS is selling.

1065  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When looking for answers on the forum on: February 12, 2023, 09:44:47 AM
When you are aspiring for answers on the forum always have it in mind that you can still get the wrong answers from people on here, simply because someone tell you their opinion doesn't mean you should follow their manners.

Although,  the higher number of people that said the same thing or give the same answers wins, this is my own strategy when looking for answers, yet, they could be wrong, even with higher vote ✅.

It doesn't mean you should do as they say still, it is better to do your own research and try to understand what you are trying to get yourself into, some times, the less vote ✅ wins too.

Best solution? Learn and Understand what you are getting yourself into, knowledge is Power.

I've seen scams using a lot of newbie accounts for shilling the business. The ANN has a fair share of similar answers, but more of those are unreliable.
So the rank (and trust!) of the answering ones may have its weight too.

Then I've seen, especially on technical problems, a lot of answers that were incomplete or not suitable for the actual problem (especially when the OP is not clear enough in expressing that).
The good and complete answer may need to be obtained like a puzzle, from multiple pieces scattered in the answers.

Hence indeed, it's not always straightforward to find the good answer. Experience (and reading, understanding, ...) helps. And this means patience and even more reading.

(chat) AI/bots are not allowed.
That's tricky, many people use bots to post, I did it too until it stopped working. Some people use online translation to ask real questions about real problems. It's going to be tough to draw the line.

I am confident that if a discussion is started on this topic and more ideas are gathered, a proper formulation can be obtained.
And even if (sadly) ChartBuddy and a few other bots would have to go, it may not be a too big price to pay if the overall result will be good (so the actual tricky part is to foresee if the result has real chances to be good).
1067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible ? on: February 12, 2023, 09:21:58 AM
There are plenty of exchanges that offer API for conversion one coin to another, and also to withdraw. It's up to you to choose what you actually want to achieve, how and with which exchange (some ask for KYC, some don't, for example; some are more established and reliable, some maybe not, ...). Plus some exchanges are focused on certain coins only.

PS. Try to research more and ask more focused questions and avoid getting this into private discussions, since in private you may get scammed.
1068  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: February 12, 2023, 07:46:01 AM
But the username also includes the source! Is this a loophole into becomming a massive spam account? Or should he be banned to end it instantly?

Ban would be OK. And maybe we also need a new rule, simply to avoid confusion and keep up with the times: (chat) AI/bots are not allowed.

1070  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Altcoin hold, sell or trade?? on: February 11, 2023, 09:29:44 PM
Looking forward to the opinion of the experienced.

In my experience most altcoins' price went down on long term. Some (very)few(!!!) altcoins can be interesting on short/medium term, but you have to be extremely careful/vigilent and find a good moment to leave them and convert to bitcoin (as newbie it's safer to just sell and never look back).
Bitcoin is just perfect. It has never disappointed me. However, you may want to DCA to not get caught by the price fluctuations.

And I will add something more, since you're newbie:
* don't keep too much money for too long at centralized exchanges (make sure you're aware of the withdrawal fees though), in case you use them
* make sure you understand how to keep safely your coins (consider hardware wallet) and your backup seed words

1072  Other / Meta / Re: Good Initiative by Royse777! on: February 11, 2023, 06:13:04 PM
I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference between a script and just some random bounty spammer who can't write English to save his or her life.

Sometimes is way too easy because of completely misunderstanding the meaning of terms. If you want a good laugh, see here.
Sometimes they just write some more or less coherent (techno)babble. Keep in mind, those AI bots are still early.

Still, you're right, if a good AI is used, it may become difficult to catch them (sooner or later). And I expect that more and more of the long 0-value posts be reported as AI texts if they're written proper English (which may or may not be correct).

My, my how times have changed.

Indeed.
1073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Federal Reserve Bank of New York Staff BTC Reports on: February 11, 2023, 06:02:00 PM
In our empirical analysis

I think that these 4 words can easily mean that the entire declaration made there holds no actual value and it can easily be considered unfounded and biased.
Of course, somebody has to be careful to this tiny detail and, based on his... views (or interests!) in the matter consider the report very good or plain useless.
1074  Other / Meta / Re: Good Initiative by Royse777! on: February 11, 2023, 05:56:21 PM
This new initiative as per my knowledge has not be initiated by any other BM other than @Royse777.

I've seen in the past more than once notes in the bounties that those finding cheaters could get paid, in a way or another. This is the same logic, since posting AI crap in signature campaigns is cheating, not just spam.
Of course, it's harder to catch that with proper proof, hence the bigger the pay.

I think though that just reporting the spam - AI generated or not - can have the same effect on long term (if people do report at sight) because mods can still remove those posts (hence the bounty/campaign participants won't get paid). Of course, then the reporters won't get paid. But we can't just have them all  Wink

However, indeed, not a bad move for the campaign manager!
1075  Economy / Economics / Re: Cash must be king, Giorgia Meloni tells shoppers on: February 11, 2023, 05:39:33 PM
I personally think that it's interesting to see Italy take a different approach to electronic currency compared to other EU nations. Prime Minister Meloni's perspective on electronic money not being legal currency is certainly unique, and her proposal to allow businesses to accept cash payments up to €60 and sell goods worth up to €5,000 in cash is a step away from the trend towards a cashless society.

I would take all her declarations with quite a pinch of salt. She has made her "political character" this strong by pretty much pissing against EU's wind. I don't see this a solid call for action, I see it more a (meaningless) "political declaration". I would like to see anything actually done from the things she is telling, but I doubt that anything would happen (or change).

Her actions do have a good justification: card payments are expensive and the merchant has to pay those fees, which, for small amounts and small shops (with no big contracts with Visa/Mc) can become significant. Of course, Bitcoin fixes this.
On the other hand if card payments can be this easily avoided by merchants, they can this easily underreport their sales and their income and not pay the correct amount of taxes.
So this can easily make de state lose big money, which I'm sure some will tell her about.

Italy had a limit of 2000 that Meloni wanted to be raised to 5000, Germany, Denmark, Austria, and Ireland have no limit, and what's more interesting, there is no limit in Sweden either, which is the most cashless country in the world right now.

I think that the total price also matters. Iirc here if one wants to pay for a flat (50-80k EUR), paying 10k EUR in cash is just fine, but if one wants to pay cash 10k EUR of the price of a car (10-20k) it's not allowed.
And your point is also interesting: the northern countries have no issues in correctly declaring everything for tax purposes. Moving towards south.. this is changing  Wink

This is simply astonishing, we're here on bitcointalk where we're supposed to talk about freedom of your personal finances and you're here criticizing somebody that wants to allow you more options for payment and no limits. How does this work?

I would not say I criticize her. I am just telling that what he's saying may not work out or may not even (ever) get implemented.
1076  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Criptomonede vs bani digitali emiși de Stat on: February 11, 2023, 09:40:23 AM
Cel putin, in ultimii 13 ani nu am reusit.

Ahaa, in regula.

1077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: February 10, 2023, 06:38:33 PM
Few days ago we discussed about potentially having Sportsbet logo on F1 car. And today watching Alfa Romeo launch, I noticed Stake logo on their car. They become name sponsors of team, deal worth $100 million in 3 years. Interesting part that they haven't even mentioned word crypto in whole their press release.
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/alfa-romeo-unveils-new-look-for-2023-f1-car/10428851/
https://www.planetf1.com/news/alfa-romeo-crypto-stake/
It's time for your move, Sportsbet!

Yep, Stake did very good. Their name is in team name and it's also all over the car, one cannot miss it.
There was a news in December I think. A lot of crypto companies have left Formula 1, leaving money problems here and there too iirc. It was not only FTX, I think the list had 3 or 4 companies at least (3 were easy to remember: FTX/Merc, Velas/Ferrari, Tezos/RBR, but I think that there were more). I feared crypto.com would do the same. So saying "crypto" now in Formula 1 is a bit sensitive.

And about Sportsbet, I don't know, all eyes seem to be on Piastri, but it can be a risky bet. Still, did anybody check how it would Sportsbet.io logo look on papaya orange? Cheesy (I've seen it on so many colors, so why not?)
1078  Other / Meta / Re: What cause the donation closure thread of Yahoo on: February 10, 2023, 05:51:59 PM
Is it only me who finds that this topic and the one(s) made by fishy001 yesterday seem too closely related?
I would not be surprised if it's the same person. (And, while multi accounts are allowed, ban evasion still isn't.)

Social jealousy, that is one of the reasons I think.

I think that it's actually more related to Yahoo uncovering ban evasion than anything else.
1079  Economy / Reputation / Re: Discrimination against bounty hunters on: February 10, 2023, 05:33:45 PM
Wow! I'm really impressed with the responds and clarification from you all though it seems some people are misunderstanding the post. I clearly stated in my post that I stand to be corrected and tbh I have been schooled.

This is how online interaction works, you should never expect people be too nice with you, especially when you make mistakes or post inaccuracies.
Get the useful part off it and ignore the rest; don't worry too much.
1080  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Criptomonede vs bani digitali emiși de Stat on: February 10, 2023, 05:29:14 PM

Sincer, m-as bucura daca as sti cu certitudine ca macar fi-miu va avea ocazia aceasta...
