1141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yearn.Finance (YFI) hits $28k on: September 11, 2020, 07:03:58 AM
Just finished writing a post on someone else's thread about it:

They were smart enough to set their supply to way fewer coins than most cryptos, and that attracted a lot of attention from everyone. If you were to multiply the 30k supply by 700 times (to get to BTC's max supply) and then divide the current price (~$29k) by 700, at Bitcoin's supply it'd be worth $41.5 right now. It's a very very vague calculus but I'm only considering the supply & price/coin.

In other words, it may be more expensive than Bitcoin but do people really not care about anything else besides price at this point?

As you are a Newbie, I would highly recommend you not to jump straight into the pumped coins if you're contemplating to. YFI may be $100k in a week or .. $1k. Volatility is a thing. You just don't know, and the timing is imo very risky right now. It's been a long time already since it's been very bullish. Coins that have really hard pumps usually have a period where the hype bursts out, and the price almost always follows. Therefore, just be careful when investing and make sure you don't get yourself screwed up by false hopes. Smiley
Nice explanation into this, it makes sense that we, investors/traders of bitcoins shouldn't worry about the altcoin's pump of price because it has only limited supply. Everything can change in a moment since this defi trend is definitely a bubble that will last for a short period of time and only a few people will get multiple profits if they play wisely.

I keep refreshing and YFI is growing, very unusual in my whole life of cryptocurrency. I hope this not give false hopes to those who get attracted when they see the value.

as of this moment, it is $33,181.44 already.
1142  Economy / Economics / Re: Yearly >Trendy< Crypto Markets, Is Crypto becoming like Tech Fashion? on: September 11, 2020, 06:34:13 AM
Greetings,

Theres this yearly new trend I keep noticing in the crypto markets, where these trendy coins have their own bull market till its not trendy no more:

- 2017 = ICO's

- 2018 = STO's

- 2019 = IEO's

- 2020 = De-Fi

In the Tech markets old tech never comes back as we all know. We all know the Sony Walkman hasn't come back and tech gets outdated quickly.

So the questions are can outdated trends in Crypto markets can come back in normal overall bull and bear market cycles?

Lastly what you guys think what Crypto Trend will be popular for 2021 next year? Privacy coins?

It does not really matter what is the next trend you need to stay away from those fads and only invest in good long term projects, I know that many people get excited over those projects because they want to earn a lot of money in a short amount of time but as experience has showed us time and time again that is in fact the way to lose a lot of money relatively fast and never get it back.

This brings the question in what we can invest and that is without a doubt a very easy question to answer, only invest in solid projects that have been around the market for years and that are not scams, coins like bitcoin and ethereum are good investments and you can easily double your money without the risk those coins entail.
A lot of crypto platforms and trends are coming in the cryptocurrency community but only a few are legit and will not take your money. It's also true that only a few remain on the top because most of the altcoins are just shit coins. If i will invest in alternative cryptocurrency, i'll choose what's the most profitable and already have 100% assurance that you can double up your money without worrying on it.

Investing into new coins is like trusting with only few assurance because you still don't know what the devs are thinking or does the devs really exist? There are many factors to consider for investing into alt coin that's why I stopped spending money and time to new coins and only investing to those who survived until this year.
1143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto gambling sites should be careful of bringing eSports in on: September 10, 2020, 05:33:34 PM
Well yeah, possibly but I don't think kids will be interested on this industry. I mean, the vast majority do not like too much work as they had to think where they would get money, learn on how would they transfer it to such platform let alone learning how to bet with crypto. It might be a threat but I don't see any plausible reason for them to go such length aside from liking the game so much. Yeah, they maybe had already crossed gambling stuff particularly in eSports already, however, I am pretty sure they would instead watch somethin' else related to a certain game they like that would entertain them rather than gettin' themselves stress out over the things about gambling; odds, etc.
Agree, as long as kids don't have money to be used in gambling, there's nothing to worry about it. That's the reason why parents are the ones who saving their child's money to avoid spending on useless things. Also, kids are afraid to lose money because even a penny, they're already happy with it. So definitely, they won't spend it on gambling that doesn't have good results to them because they are always hoping to get something that will make them happy. Kids aren't techy enough to bring themselves in a crypto betting platform even it is related to games because there's a complexity.
1144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for blind people on: September 10, 2020, 04:49:05 PM
This is a money vs blind people scenario. AFAIK, technology on blind people has already begun and there are plenty of innovations are still on the making.

One of the project studies here in our university is object detection and classification, one of the common studies for blind or visually impaired people is through this with a lot of data to train. Those data are all of the objects in common areas where blind people usually go so it can determine the objects beside him. So my idea in this kind of project that is related in cryptocurrency is to have a specific device that will notify you of the market value changes, transactions, amount of bitcoins through buttons and numbers that act like Siri.

It should be like this.. press the upper button for BTC value... press the lower button for transaction... it is like an automated device that talks to you.
1145  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 1,500 restaurants in France start accepting bitcoin payments through Just Eat!!! on: September 09, 2020, 05:59:54 PM
That is good news because people can try to pay using bitcoin to buy food in those restaurants. But for me, I don't want to use my bitcoin to just eat in those restaurants because I want to save every bitcoin that I have. I will still use fiat money than to use bitcoin, but I hope that other coins will be accepted as the payment transaction.

But using bitcoin as the payment can help people to avoid using physical money because they can use a mobile phone and scan the cost to pay the food. That will be like a cashless for making the transaction.
Same, bitcoin isn't a currency that you can spend anytime and anywhere, it's an asset that gives you a chance to earn a profit when price value surged.

Gonna save all of that bitcoin and sell it when it is already profitable. What if there are circumstances where you bought food by using bitcoin then suddenly the price goes high, definitely gonna regret it.
1146  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bangko Sental ng Pilipinas on Crypto adoption on: September 09, 2020, 05:05:18 PM
Obviously, they don't have any plans on adopting cryptocurrency. And pinaka-objective nila ay gamitin ang blockchain technology para makagawa ng sarili nilang "regulated" digital currency. The last thing they want is to lose what they protect the most--control--which is what Bitcoin is trying to dismantle. Hopefully, magbago ang perspective nila at magfocus sila sa pagtulong kung paano mareregulate ang use ng bitcoin without changing its core aspects.
I agree.

1147  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: September 09, 2020, 04:48:06 PM
You're goddamn right bro. I've had a huge decrease of sales in my personal online business due to the corona and it depresses me.

Living a life like this is really stressful and it is not that impossible for us to feel any unproductiveness.

Nowadays, people are just staying at home and waiting for a job where they can work for just to sustain their needs. Businesses are closed, they are not allowed to operate and chosen type of businesses are only operating due to the risks of getting the disease in an open store or establishments.

This pandemic also gives me worrisome problem that can destroy my mental health and happiness during this quarantine, there are a lot of opportunities wasted.
Yeah, people are looking for a job online like work from home jobs to avoid being infected by COVID. Online jobs are in demand and unproductivity shouldn't tolerate because we need to earn and survive during this pandemic. We should be flexible and find an alternative that will let us live until this COVID-19 gone because if we feel depressed and unproductiveness, it'll just destroy us mentally and physically.

Actually, you can develop your skills right now and find a way that it will improve for future purposes.
1148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Podcasts on: September 09, 2020, 04:31:34 PM
When it comes to a podcast, Spotify is one of the best platforms for it.

I always listen on podcasts and would like to listen on yours as long as it gives more uncommon information about cryptocurrency, knowledge about investments, and updates about the market.

But if you prefer youtube, you know it's a video platform and it should have infographics on the video so it can't be boring when watching a podcast. When someone watching you, even it's an informational video, there should be an entertaining part so the viewer will enjoy and learn at the same time.
1149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for salary on: September 09, 2020, 04:16:27 PM
IMO, receiving salary digitally and actual money doesn't have many differences, and receiving digital money doesn't mean we must pursue BTC as salary.

People are very practical these days, with or without pandemic or crisis, workers prefer to receive the exact amount of their salary. Unlike in BTC, there's a chance, even it's little, that price might go down on the time where they received the salary through BTC payment. So BTC for a salary isn't really practical especially here in our country where most people value money. It will be only applicable to those people who have huge salaries and do have knowledge or doing investments.

Well, it'll be a good move as long as it promotes cryptocurrency in our country but I'm sure that only a few people will agree on this. Also, most people threat bitcoin as an asset, not a currency, so it'll be hard to adapt it as payment for salary.
1150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Education on: September 09, 2020, 04:03:33 PM
I think it is better to teach about blockchain technology than to focus directly on cryptocurrencies, because blockchain technology can be used in various fields even though it is not as interesting as discussing crypto currencies  Grin. Btw I also agree with the OP idea
theres a seperate discussion for blockchain and theres also for cryptos because both of them are not easy . cryptos only looks easy because we people tend to look in its outside appearance but we dont know if how they are created or whats inside them . blockchain looks so hard and boring because everyone else is foccusing on crypto due to the fact that crypto is the one that we mainly use but if we will only learn blockchain too we can get many benefits .
Cryptocurrency should be in the field of finance while blockchain is in the field of technology. Both topics are very hard and there's a lot of you need to know before learning those topics. You need the foundation to understand those definitions like basic and advanced programming.

Blockchain isn't boring, actually, it's one of the topics that is being used in project study because blockchain technology can be applied to any various fields. While cryptocurrency, it's not really easy, the whole economics will fully explain how does it works and add blockchain learning.
1151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New documentary: Bitcoin Revolution in Africa on: September 04, 2020, 07:11:32 PM
I hope the documentary features more how does the cryptocurrency affects Africa, I'm sure it'll be more interesting than including facts that are already on other documentaries that I've watched. I want to know more how does cryptocurrency gives those people in Africa the opportunity to gain knowledge about blockchain and earn from it.

It seems to me it is a good step for African people, where lots of people could join to others in the big world to the crypto currency possibilities and perspectives. May be for lots of people on other continents Bitcoin is a usual thing, but how it could sound strange but not all people on our Planet have access to simple things like banking, cards, online payments and Bitcoin and crypto as well. So in my opinion these changes are good. May be step by step lots of people in Africa will be more interested in BTC and making money online)))
Of course it's a good step, as long as they adapt to the advancement of technology, probably it'll gonna cause something good in their country. These changes in technology will surely develop their economy, that'll be the stepping on that. Even here in my country, Bitcoin gives me an opportunity, not only about the profit but the knowledge you'll learn on it.

1152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting: how much knowledge is too much on: September 04, 2020, 06:51:01 PM
If a person is betting on a soccer match and reads about every match of every person on every team, plus weather forecast, plus research on home advantage etc., the amount of information can be overwhelming and probably not that important or useful to bet on the outcome a particular match.

well, this isn't really about how much knowledge is too much but it about how the person will handle the information he/she has and decide which odd will come out since different person handles can handle different amounts of information without doubting or overthinking their decision. some can handle more and some can handle less.

is there a rule that would help not to drown in information but only focus on what is helpful? Or is it 'the more, the better' in your opinion?
selective information might help. I mean only learn or search what you want to learn and ignore the ones you consider trivial or unhelpful. but to be honest, in my opinion, the more knowledge you have is better.
The more knowledge you have is better, you can use that trivial and unhelpful info to vouch for other information that will help you. Well, not all of the information is helpful but for sure you will use it on other situations. But in the article that I've read, having knowledge of the game is not an advantage for us to win in gambling.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/03/130319124229.htm

This article really fits on the discussion and I hope you guys read it. It says that the sports gamblers are good at making illusions, thinking that they can manipulate the outcome. It's a study that uses sports gamblers and sports fans as participants. Therefore, even if you have knowledge or not, you can't easily predict the outcome and knowledge about the game won't help you to win on sports bettings.
1153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is Going to "DEAD....!" Need Discussion..... on: September 04, 2020, 06:26:36 PM
You want a healthy discussion but didn't even mention any analysis or study that says BTC will become dead soon?

The only thing you did is compare a different timeline which is 2017 and 2020. If you really think that bitcoin will be dead soon, selling BTC will be the right move for not understanding how basic economics work.

After the year of 2017, the year of hype of crypto, a lot of stuff happened that was linked to cryptocurrencies, and you didn't even think it was affecting bitcoin? Probably not. The community of cryptocurrency is huge, bitcoin will be not forgotten so easily, and actually, it's the stepping stone for implementing a cashless society. Many platforms are starting to adopt the use of cryptocurrency so how come it'll become dead just because it didn't reach a new ATH this year? Oh c'mon.
1154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranked up to full member. on: September 04, 2020, 05:51:05 PM
Nice poem bud..

and congrats on ranking into Full Member! Keep grinding up.

You see, I was trying hard to learn about cryptocurrency
and no one had guided me the proper way.
Same, but I learned in my own dedication to be an enthusiast in cryptocurrency so everybody shouldn't use the excuse of no one guiding them here that's why they ended up being a shitposter. lol
What a life to be here in the forum
with some drama's and scambags
It's not a drama, as long as it fixes the issues here in the forum, it isn't considered as a drama. Yeah, it's full of issues, some people are very political but don't be affected, just think those for the betterment of the forum. And besides, it's a forum, we can't avoid those kind of situations 'cause anything can be brought up in here to be corrected.  Wink
1155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Mining For Newbies on: September 04, 2020, 05:32:41 PM
I've studied a lot about mining and manage to create a thread in my local about it: Building Mining Rigs

and since GPU mining is already dead in bitcoin, I made another topic regarding ASICs that is being used to mine bitcoin today. -- MINING BITCOIN 2019

Power consumption is the main factor you should understand before having a mining factory, you need to compute the initial and final consumption for you to determine if it's profitable in your country. Here in my country, it's no longer profitable since electricity is too expensive because you also need an airconditioned room to maintain the temperature of those rigs and to avoid daily maintenance.
1156  Economy / Economics / Re: Our country was called Province of China. on: September 04, 2020, 04:35:01 PM
The other countries which loaned money from China got into debt trap meaning, they have to give favor to China by building infrastructures and letting them own a portion of their land or if not owned, allowing them to operate based from the likes of their rule. Those debts will be entirely paid for a long time through the next generations.
Always remember China, copying, modifying, innovating. Copying was once a necessity in China, but from this habit of imitating China became superior. Remember imitating not following. China prefers to bind many countries through OBOR with long-term infrastructure investments with the aim of binding those countries together. China doesn't want to make the mistakes that the United States did in the 90s. America moved much of its manufacturing to China and exploited cheap, skilled Chinese labor, without tying China up, so China broke free and is now a trade competitor to the United States.
As long as a product can be modified, it will innovate it until it becomes another product. In that way, it makes China have more power and have a lot of manufacturers across the world. Most of the products existed are made of china and no one in Asia can compete on them.

I’ve heard this news that China called Philippines as their province. This is disrespectful to many Filipino citizens and it's obvious that our President is close to China’s President. Although the President of the Philippines is building a good camaraderie to China since there's a huge debt to them. This is really debatable issue even others that have positioned in the government doesn't have an actions yet to what was happened.
China's president is obviously using our president to make an easy pathway of conquering our country. So disrespectful but no one in the higher officials react into this, only the local government reacts and done a good job of deporting those manufacturers back to china.
1157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Gameplays and Strategies on: September 04, 2020, 04:05:51 PM

As an aspiring poker player myself, I can say that it is better to overestimate luck than underestimate it. There is a dangerous trap waiting in the path of a "shark", namely, the illusion that you are  unbeatable. Some well-known poker pros lost a lot of money because of falling into this trap. Imo, it is always better to think that you were lucky in the case of winning, and to think that you were not skillful enough in the case of losing. It is a good strategy for improving your skills, and not falling into the trap I mentioned.

Luck definitely plays a big role during each individual hand you play, but on a bigger scale luck becomes not important anymore. On almost all of the poker softwares you can look at your past hands. It makes sense to keep track of your general plays. Like which hand are you playing good and make money and where are you losing money. It can happen that you lose with AA vs 27 in one hand. But across 10,000 off hands you will see AA dominate. It's all about playing for a long time to make luck not so important anymore.
Experiences do really matters on these games, the longer you play the more experiences you are gaining but don't forget that luck really plays an important role in each game. There are situations that we can both use experience and luck that will lead us to a great win. I know that feeling because I, as a player/gamer already felt that on a situational game where I should use my experiences and rely on luck. So in the end, even you already have a lot of experience and you thought you wouldn't rely on luck, we are wrong because we always rely on it on our mind and luck will be always there.
1158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain technology in universities on: September 04, 2020, 03:47:59 PM
Can blockchain technology help universities and colleges?
Of course. Actually the project study of my classmates is about blockchain technology and because of that interesting project, they passed the course. If you have the foundation of programming especially the basics of python, you can easily build your own blockchain and it's up to you on what kind of implementation you will do. It has a lot of applications as long as there are data, blockchain will become mainstream as projects in universities.

We actually don't need specific subject of blockchain, what we really need is the foundation is programming in computer related courses.
1159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: September 04, 2020, 03:02:15 PM
I am agree with your statement that television plays a key role in eldery people's choices. Lots of them still do not understand that TV is just a huge mechanism of manipulations. Sometimes even in case people among elders use computers, Internet and even online means for payments or so, they still used to believe to the news and statements of government representatives. But I saw and met among elder people lots of who are very deeply involved into crypto world and even always hold their finger on the pulse on the new directions in crypto like DeFi, different new projects and so on. In my opinion it is better to choose people who are active in life in general. Because those elder people who prefer stating at home and watching TV, live only for payments from the government, they will not be ready to leave their comfortable armchairs and to accept changes even with some perspectives. It would be easier to explain the topic of Bitcoin and crypto, because active people in life in general are more open to the new views and information, they are not afraid of trying something new and to change something in their usual life. And first of course - it is better to show them new opportunities that may appear in their lives in case of using crypto and Blockchain.

TV ads about Bitcoin could greatly induce the elderly into knowing more about it. However, such efforts could be in vain as most seniors aren't into the latest technological breakthroughs. All the "technical jargon" surrounding crypto/Blockchain tech, makes everything look complicated especially to non-tech savvy people. The elderly are better off using physical cash for daily payments, as it won't be going anywhere soon. It might take decades before the world's economy fully transitions into a cashless one. While we're in the "transition phase", physical cash will still be a relevant payment method. I'd expect the elderly choosing physical cash over Bitcoin because of its easier learning curve and price stability. Only a small minority will use Bitcoin as an alternative financial system for their own benefit.

All in all, young people will be the ones that will adopt Bitcoin to a full extent. It's evident that old people are reluctant to change. They're accustomed to the traditional way of making payments via the legacy financial system. While it's not that hard to make the elderly understand how Bitcoin works and how to use it, most of them will continue living with Fiat. There are many educational materials available on the web right now that you can use to carefully guide old people into the "crypto revolution". In all ends, the decision of joining Bitcoin will ultimately lie on the person himself. Just my opinion Smiley

That is actually a great idea BUT placing it on public advertisements means that it won't just be introduced to the elderly. It would also present Bitcoin as an usable Currency that people can gain money from. It would go through lots of processes before making it into an advertisement since networks won't advertise what they do not understand. It would still be a good idea to just show results and outputs from what can we benefit from Cryptocurrencies. In that way, people who are only interested would be entice to ask necessary questions.

Are there any TV ads as of now about bitcoin? Cause I think ads about this technology are only available online and in the internet, example are youtube ads, blogs, and social media ads. Never seen one on a TV because of the cost maybe of an ad per 30 sec on TV. And also maybe because our country doesn't even care about the existence of bitcoin, and its kinda weird to see one about it on TV tho.

One problem also is how would you create an ad for bitcoin that will not look like a scam, cause you already know by now that bitcoin has this image of being used as a scam and for illegal activities. There are also a lot of spammers in the the internet posting copy paste bs about bitcoin. The ad should look professional and interesting. That's really a problem for all products but somehow there's something making it harder for bitcoin to be trusted.
Agree, only the neccessities are being advertise on the tv so it's kinda weird if you saw a bitcoin ad on national TV. But if they interacted with technology devices such as smart phones or computers, they will probably see ads that's related to cryptocurrency. Actually, tons of influencers are promoting platforms that's related to it and many ads are popping up when watching YouTube.

The only thing I desire for bitcoin is to be adapted by the government so elderly can acknowledge the potential of bitcoin in our society. As of now, bitcoin is threated as a scam asset because of this people who're creating scam and ponzi that involves bitcoin to their greediness.
1160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is now the 6th largest world currency on: September 04, 2020, 02:28:13 PM
It's kinda amazing because it was threated as a "currency".
Does Bitcoin really fit with the other fiat currencies out there??
Bitcoin's price is still pegged with USD and other fiat currencies there.

You see Bitcoin as a currency? Most of the investors see Bitcoin as an asset more than a currency for sure but yeah it has been compared to things that it isn't in line with Cheesy. That rank will also change too whether if the price of Bitcoin goes up or goes down.
This got me thinking ... actually I've been using and treat bitcoin as asset just like other people too especially since the fee getting high and higher also the price surge so often . Not really fit with the current society standard unless yeah there's a new standard invented to follow crypto currency needs . High fee + high volatile is the biggest problem for bitcoin to be considered as a currency.
Same thought while after watching a documentary, it made me think that I'm treating bitcoin as an asset, not a currency because I'm just using to make a profit/income to it. Most of people have the same thinking, making a profit in the potential of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Is btc still in 6th place after yesterday fall?
It's still falling tho , not sure it is.
Back to $5,000 and it's sure a cut in half to get out of top 10. Not really fit.
Based on the category, the basis isn't about the price value so I guess it'll stay on its spot.
