1621  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: IS ATOMIC WALLET HACK OR SCAM? 🔴 Immediately Withdraw your Funds on: June 07, 2023, 09:17:21 AM
I guess I should have been somewhat surprised upon learning of the Atomic Wallet hack but really it was not that much of a surprise to learn that allegedly $35 million was stolen from various wallets being allegedly compromised.

If any source code is freely available it will allow any and all eyes to go over the code and would result in reports of what needed to be fixed or patched however in this example of code being partially closed-source we can see the ramifications of essentially playing with million of USD$ of other peoples money while proclaiming to be providing a safe and secure service/product.

This is directly from the Atomic Wallet website: https://support.atomicwallet.io/article/184-why-is-atomic-wallet-not-open-source

---------------------------

Why is Atomic Wallet not open source?

For the most part, Atomic Wallet's using open source libraries. However, some parts of the code aren't publicly available.

But why?

When it comes to money, it's only natural to trust no one but yourself, even more so if we're talking crypto. "Open source" doesn't necessarily translate to "secure," though. Here's our reasoning behind keeping our wallet a partly closed source app:

  • Atomic Wallet is a unique product created by a hard-working team. We created a service we are proud of, so we stand for the uniqueness of its design and technologies. We want to continue developing our product and stand out in the market.
  • We don't want to make scammers' jobs easier. There's a saying that goes: "Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow." This could mean that an open source app wouldn't be able to get away with questionable or outright malicious code practices. However, please bear in mind that this approach is a double-edged sword. Sure, it allows crypto enthusiasts and software engineers to audit the code to make sure it's secure. At the same time, it also greatly aids scammers & hackers in learning everything about the app's inner workings. Speaking of which...
  • We don't want fake apps to boom in numbers. By making just a few minor tweaks, scammers would be able to build a fake wallet app based on our source code. Many wallets have already been targeted by scammers creating fake GitHub repositories filled with malware. Should we make our code freely available, building a genuine-looking scam app would be a matter of a few hours.

We perfectly understand some crypto holders' preference for open source wallets. Still, we believe the points outlined above to be good enough reasons for keeping our app closed source for now.

---------------------------

I cannot be the only one seeing the irony in this because they have justified their case for remaining partially closed-source because their system was built by a hard working team and would like the uniqueness of their design and technology to to stand out in the market.

Furthermore, they remained partially closed-source because they did not want to make a scammers job easier and cited "Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow."

Also, the fake apps comment is somewhat strange as far as timing is concerned because " Many wallets have already been targeted by scammers creating fake GitHub repositories filled with malware. Should we make our code freely available, building a genuine-looking scam app would be a matter of a few hours."

Their website https://atomicwallet.io remains completely quiet about the hack, it mentions nothing about the biggest news to hit Atomic Wallet since it was created and I not surprised because it shows another reason why they cannot be trusted and should never have been trusted in the first place.

They have put out a statement on Twitter stating some of the funds have been effectively seized as they were sent to various exchanges but have not elaborated on how much. Putting all this aside, this is a perfect example of why any closed-source (or partially closed-source) product cannot be trusted to keep your crypto funds safe.
1622  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SPORTSBET.io accuse me with multi accounting and DONT PAY MY WINNINGS on: June 07, 2023, 08:55:27 AM
Did Sportsbet ever post about this? All we have is the word of the OP that he wrote to the licence company and somehow that resulted in Sportsbet paying him. He did not elaborate more than that therefore we do not know if he received the initial deposits or the winnings and all we have here is what he is claiming.

As for the OP claiming to have another issue (with Playbetr.com) it remains to be seen if he will open a scam allegation against them.

now I need to take my money back from playbetr.com
Wait, you have another independent issue with Playbetr.com?
Is it similar to one of Sportbet.io that has just been resolved?

On the positive note, it's good to know that the issue you has with sportsbet.io was resolved and concluded. Did you receive any official communication from them alongside the refunds?
1623  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1XBIT.COM ᐉ 7 BTC WB ᐉ Altcoin Betting ᐉ no KYC ᕗ Instant payouts on: June 07, 2023, 08:01:12 AM
Let us not forget even though the 1xbit/1xbit1 team are continuing to use this forum (for on/off signature campaigns, announcements and occasional general posting) their reputation here has been tarnished way beyond repair.

It seems they have given up on addressing the scam allegations and are instead focusing every now and then on their signature campaigns and promoting any competitions. The warning for those that might be thinking of using their website is that just because a website might look professional and/or sleek it does not mean it is scam-free.

Sadly but they will never leave this forum as Bitcointalk. Org is the biggest crypto community in the world which means there is always a potential victims.
So why leave if they can stay forever, and the only help that we can provide is to continue spreading their scam nature so lessen of victims they may gather and less funds will come to their pocket.
1624  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SPORTSBET.io accuse me with multi accounting and DONT PAY MY WINNINGS on: June 06, 2023, 05:24:16 PM
What exactly are you implying here because amongst other things it seems you could be stating that you complained to the licence company and as a result of you writing to them a decision was made by Sportsbet.io to pay you. Is that correct?

As far as I noted earlier in the thread you seemed to be in breach of their Terms of Service, the ones you voluntarily signed up to and accepted to abide by when you registered on the Sportsbet.io website therefore it would be difficult to understand why they would pay you anything at all (if you won while in breach of their rules) however if they paid original deposits back (either as a gesture of goodwill or as a point of terminating the account) that is a different matter altogether.

After I wrote the license company they decided to reconsider their decision. They refunded me the rightful money. Thanks for helping me in here , now I need to take my money back from playbetr.com

Thanks
1625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency - many coin - wow on: June 06, 2023, 08:11:54 AM
Most (if not all) people in the early days of any coin would probably be wishing they had held on to at least one or two of their portfolio a little longer but unfortunately that was all part of the process which included learning along the way as well as buying and selling. The early Bitcoin adopters probably feel the same way.

It might be a painful experience to go back to the past around 10 years since you made that post and then go over how many Dogecoin you got might have sold but out of curiosity would you be able to recall the amount you wished you held on to?

If only i would have hodl'd.

1626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2022/2023 on: June 05, 2023, 11:28:45 PM
We have seen some positive things about Manchester United this season. When Erik ten Hag first arrived at the team they were still having serious difficulties. He needed to take his time as well to know the team and the league well. In the meantime people continued to criticize Manchester United for continuing to be inconsistent. But I understood their impatience as they didn't see their team in a good shape for a long while.
After their losses at the beginning of the season Manchester United were in the relegation zone, they were in trouble but when they beat Liverpool they turned their season around and managed to make 3rd place at the end of the season.

Eric Ten Hag did a marvelous job for united this season and he brought out the best of Rashford which wasn't noticed by any coach. He revived the club and brought unity between the players. Eric Ten Hag is a great coach who can win EPL with his team if he stays for long.  He brought light back to man united and the fans are happy with him.
I cannot use the term great coach because winning trophies and playing consistently well for years are signs the manager or coach is great. He did a brilliant job in his first season at Manchester United but next season the spotlight will be on him and with that the pressure to succeed too. If the team does not perform well he could be facing the sack it is as simple as that.
1627  Economy / Reputation / Re: 12 Years on Bitcointalk Today! on: June 05, 2023, 06:49:18 PM
I just noticed the little birthday icon on my profile indicating that today is the day I signed up for Bitcointalk!  Pretty amazing really that it's been a dozen years now.  I guess that sort of makes me one of the old guys around here.  It's been a pretty crazy ride, but I'll admit it hasn't been all that surprising.  12 years ago I signed up for this crazy forum to learn more about this new decentralized currency with a limit on the number of coins that can be produced.  I wanted to take part immediately and went from trading things for BTC, to mining, to helping others trade, then helping others mine who aren't able (through my community organization), and eventually creating cool products.  It's been an amazing ride with a lot of interesting speedbumps along the way
We have not really engaged in the forum as we mostly post in different boards and/or threads but that should not stop me (or anybody else) in taking the opportunity to at the very least to congratulate you on the 12th anniversary of you being a member in the forum. That 12 year anniversary is an incredible mark to reach and it has to be said it is a very impressive one.

but still we roll on.  Smiley
Yes you do roll on and we do too and the years keep rolling by for us all therefore raising a glass to yourself and all the rest that are have stayed around making this forum what it is today.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. I see a few people mentioning my negative feedback. All I can really say about that is it is a bit disgraceful that so many default trust members include users like Vod in their trust networks who publicly tried to extort me. As with everything nowadays, corruption at the highest levels.
I never really fully understood what was going on during that period as I was not posting in those boards but I did discuss this with a member last year (I think) where he provided some links to various posts from years ago to try to get an understanding of what happened back then but it was still not fully clear even after I had a brief look. Anyway, that is another topic for another day I guess and for now all that can be said is congratulations to you on celebrating 12 years here.

What you achieved here with what I see as 94+ positive feedback is remarkable therefore you should enjoy the moment.
1628  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1XBIT.COM ᐉ 7 BTC WB ᐉ Altcoin Betting ᐉ no KYC ᕗ Instant payouts on: June 05, 2023, 09:59:11 AM
Looking at this thread, it seems all the victims are already gave up.

and maybe for a while they stopped victimizing because the cases are lowering and indeed this scammers have done more than enough to gain money to support their advertising here in Bitcointalk and outside.
There is also a valid case that the thread has become bloated with fake claims and allegations as well as those being brought forward by genuine victims. If it were a policy that entailed all victims listing evidence in their initial claim then many of the scam allegations would not be here.

It does not (and cannot) negate the many scams and selective scams conducted by 1xbit/1xbit1 because the allegations that have been presented with evidence in the past (especially the early pages of the scam allegations) were quite extensive.

They could go down completely if they make some crazy mistakes which would put them in the limelight for all the wrong reasons if you ask me.
Which raises a valid question, why is the 1xbit/1xbit1 website still operating? How much stealing would they have to do before they get closed down? After all the ponzi schemes and scam activity carried out by Yobit over several years their website is still operating therefore I would not be holding too much hope that 1xbit/1xbit1 will be seized soon.
1629  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ [POLL] FOOTBALL: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 on: June 04, 2023, 04:59:23 PM
Regarding the FA Cup final between the Manchester clubs yesterday, I also thought it was more a case of Manchester United not playing good football rather than Manchester City playing excellent therefore was not anything impressive about them. The two goals they scored were not exactly great either and I have no idea how De Gea did not manage to save either of them.

Inter Milan will be out to create their own history in the Champions League final and I am confident they will win the game leading to another European Champions League night of misery for Guardiola and his Manchester City team.

It appears that we both voted for Inter Milan. I'm also confident that Inter will win the CL this season; I believe Man City has had enough success this season and may become overconfident when they face Inter later this month; I watched them play against Manchester United yesterday and was not impressed; the players appear to be tired already, and Inter will be under less pressure as underdogs.  Mourinho has just lost a European final for the first time, and anything can happen in Istanbul.   Cool
1630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ [POLL] FOOTBALL: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 on: June 04, 2023, 09:05:23 AM
A poll has been to the thread. Which team will win the Champions League final will it be Manchester City or Inter Milan. I will be confident enough Inter Milan will be champions of Europe when the two teams meet in Istanbul on 10th June 2023.

Manchester City have already won the domestic double and on course for a treble but I think Inter Milan will win the game and that would leave Manchester City manager Guardiola still with Champions League trophies way back in 2009 and 2011 when on both occasions they beat Manchester United in the finals.

With the amount of money Manchester City have at their disposal being backed up by the Abu Dhabi state, they should have won several Champions League titles by now but they have zero.

1631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ [POLL] ENGLISH FA CUP 2022/23 TOURNAMENT - Discussion Thread on: June 04, 2023, 08:57:07 AM
The score was correct at 2-1 but instead of guessing correctly that Manchester United would win it was Manchester City that won  Grin

I have to congratulate them on the win and on winning the domestic double. Having said that I saw the game and like Inter Milan would not be too worried. I think Inter Milan will win the Champions League final.

Looks like your choice was wrong because Manchester City managed to beat Manchester United with a score of 2 - 1.
1632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ [POLL] ENGLISH FA CUP 2022/23 TOURNAMENT - Discussion Thread on: June 03, 2023, 05:30:42 PM
RESULT:

Manchester City 2-1 Manchester United

Manchester City have completed the Premier League and FA Cup double. They are also in the final of the Champions League and if they overcome Inter Milan they will win the treble making them the second team after Manchester United in 1999 to achieve that record.

1633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ [POLL] ENGLISH FA CUP 2022/23 TOURNAMENT - Discussion Thread on: June 03, 2023, 01:40:07 PM
Manchester City have been brilliant throughout most of the season and they are clearly odds-on favourites to win as far as most bookmakers are concerned but Manchester United is the only British team ever to have completed a treble in the same season consisting of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League therefore they will try their best to stop Manchester City winning today.

From a Manchester United perspective even if Manchester City win the Champions League against Inter Milan it would not mean a treble if they can win the game today. Also, they will be hoping they lost today and against Inter Milan.

From a Manchester City perspective, they are on the verge of making history and just two games are in their path, they will try their best to win those games therefore both cup finals will be entertaining games to watch  Grin

I am not supporting Manchester city to win this title, I will prefer Manchester United to win it, but unfortunately my wish may not be enough to stop this Manchester City team that has been excellent from winning this too.
1634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ [POLL] ENGLISH FA CUP 2022/23 TOURNAMENT - Discussion Thread on: June 03, 2023, 11:15:34 AM
The odds you received will be changing periodically as always happens and I only listed the odds that Sky gave (Manchester City: 8/15, DRAW: 100/30, Manchester United: 9/2) but to be honest I have no interest on the odds because this game will be too difficult to call.

This game could be a one sided demolition which sees either team winning 5-0 or it could be close with either team winning 1-0. It could be decided in extra-time or go to penalties.

Overall because of the history of what is at stake I think Manchester United will end up winners as Manchester City will not be able to live up to the pressure of being the in the hunt for the treble. I said it a different thread and will reiterate (my opinion here) I think Manchester City will lose both the FA Cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

But sorry there was an error, I got Odds 1.50 but previously wrote 1.60, I hope you can understand that.
1635  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ [POLL] ENGLISH FA CUP 2022/23 TOURNAMENT - Discussion Thread on: June 03, 2023, 09:40:50 AM
These are the latest odds that I can find on the score after 90 minutes of play and Manchester City are clear favourites to win but this is a cup final and not only can anything happen but the underdogs have a habit of causing upsets.

HOME: 8/15
DRAW: 100/30
AWAY: 9/2

However the task is not going to be easy as Manchester United has few injuries and City has a completely fit squad hence I hope that Ten Hag can come up with some brilliant tactics to defeat City.
The biggest advantage Manchester City have is their squad is virtually fit whereas Manchester United do have a few injuries but that cannot be an excuse because the squad for any top level team should be strong enough to cover any unforeseen injuries.

But who can predict the whims of football? Anything can happen, and we are in the dark as to what will unfold in today's final.
You are right without a doubt  Grin

I got Odds of 1.60 for Manchester City's victory in today's FA Cup final.
Will you place a bet?
1636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ ENGLISH FA CUP 2022/23 TOURNAMENT - Discussion Thread on: June 02, 2023, 11:40:18 PM
A poll has been added now to ask for your opinions on who you think will win the FA Cup when the two teams meet at Wembley Stadium on 3rd June 2023.

If Manchester City win they will go in to the Champions League final against Inter Milan with the prospect of winning the treble and that is incentive enough for Manchester United to win the game and end the season with 3rd place in the Premier League as well as by winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

It will be a close game but I think the score will be Manchester City 1-2 Manchester United  Grin

Cryptotalk was always synonymous with spamming and low-level posting and that was from the days it was being promoted in this forum by the Yobit team (if memory serves correct Yobit own/operate Cryptotalk).

As for Altcointalk, I never used it but did have a brief look at it to see what it was about and it seems to be nothing special but from the outside looking in this forum will probably be seen as nothing special too. I guess Twitter it is then  Grin

I ported my BTT to Altcointalk a few years ago when I was still an SR member here and I can confidently tell you that I didn't stay for more than a week before abandoning my account and leaving the forum, the place is total hell for those that want to discuss bitcoin, its more about shitcoin speculation forum, same with Cryptotalk where they paid members to post with some shitty token, it was in Satoshi in the early days but now they created a worthless token and that's whats holding some members over there.

The majority of Altcointalk's Hero and Legendary members are banned BTT users who port their rank to Altcointalk. (Account transfer is no longer permitted.)
1638  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Menbership- 3.5m registered only 56k members survived?..... Why? on: June 02, 2023, 01:37:13 PM
Twitter has come a long way in the pecking order for Bitcoin and crypto enthusiasts in general because once upon a time it was not the place to be for those types of discussions.

What are your views on the Altcoinstalk and Cryptotalk forums specifically about why crypto enthusiasts do (or do not) use them? It has to be realated to something beyond spam and content quality because those issues are being suffered in this forum too.

Can you provide links to where have people gone to discuss crypto related matters? Apart from "altcoinstalks" and "cryptotalk" there is not much that comes to mind except occasional questions you might find on "stackoverflow"
The majority of real Bitcoiners are now on Twitter, where much of the discussion takes place with less spam..

Well this response from you certainly puts a new angle on the subject matter.

I have not determined or concluded whether or not AI was used but well done for you to come here and to stand your ground. If you say you did not use AI and there is no certain way to prove you did or you did not then creating this thread was probably a waste of time when the OP could have sent you a PM to discuss the issue beforehand.

Believe me I never use AI. I always try to follow the signature campaign rules and post my own way. Monitor your posts carefully with AI detector. I always write by my own hand.
And I respect my campaign manager a lot.
Basically I am very active and post for several weeks to get bonus but you can trust me I never post AI generated. I follow @Royse777 manager's campaign rules all the time and also know that AI generated posts in his campaign lead to account bans. Why would I knowingly harm myself? Please check my posts again and judge.

Sevilla 1-1 Roma
Sevilla won the game 4-1 on penalties

After the game Mourinho was verbally abusing the referee in the car park, it was the first European final Mourinho had lost as a manager and it was a tough game. Roma had enough chances to win and probably should have but Sevilla had many chances in the second half to put the game away yet failed.

As always with penalties there can never be certainty the best or better team win, in this case the jury is out about who deserved to win over 90 minutes or extra-time but Sevilla are Europa League champions again and congratulations to them.
