1781  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jussie Smollett now ‘classified as a suspect’ for filing false police report. on: February 13, 2020, 10:39:32 AM
The charges were filed right before the election for the prosecutors office. We will see if he actually has the case perused competently. He should serve time in jail but I am not holding my breath. I am also still waiting for Kim Fox to get prosecuted for public corruption, but it might be a while.

This case is going to end up exposing some powerful people...

Hate to be a cynic but I'm going to be a cynic I think this is going to be a smack down for Jussie and just Jussie, no one else is going to take any damage here. Do we really think this would come out if that was the case? There's no way some random special prosecutor would be able to expose the Obamas just because they wanted to.

The way I see it, the information that is coming out not just in this case, but in relation to Ukraine and elsewhere, it eventually has to happen. All of this is in totality is going to be difficult to cover up. The orders are going to come from much higher.

In the thread "Antifa Lunch Break"

Reported as off topic. Unhandled.

Can you believe the MAGA bomber thing happened less than 6 months ago?

I didn't realize it was old till I posted it. But thought someone would still be looking at the post and see what I am looking for. Thanks, I can remove it if it is irrelevant.
Thanks!

Not a big deal, just letting you know.
1787  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Risks of a Nation(s) Attempting a 51% Attack on: February 12, 2020, 05:20:00 PM
I anyone has the power to do this at the drop of a hat, it is China.

Drop of a bat is surely more topical for China?

I really can't see a nation mounting a 51% attack. It would cost a hell of a lot of money for a start, and I don't see what they'd gain.

If you want to shut down crypto within your own borders, then you can do this through legislation. It might not stop it entirely, but it would have a big enough effect to drive it so far underground that it's no longer a concern to the economy. Forcing exchanges to give out the details of their users for example, and then going after those users might be enough of a step by itself.

The only reason for a nation to mount a 51% attack would be to shut crypto down entirely, globally. Whether that would be effective or not is difficult to say. Whether such an attack would be mounted however is maybe easier. I don't think there's much chance. The reason being that although crypto may cause some fear and concern for governments, it also offers the allure of huge benefits through increased efficiency, reduced costs and indeed surveillance through the immutability of the blockchain. Nations may posture and bluster about crypto being a problem, but I think the chances are everyone will adopt it in the end... and I think this conclusion is lent weight by the fact that more and more countries are now investigating the potential of digital versions of their national currencies, even the US is getting involved.

I could see them maybe launching their own state run coin, and attacking the BTC network to drive liquidity into it potentially. They have already announced plans for such a system.
1788  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] China Virus Source on: February 12, 2020, 03:16:01 PM
Natural source, but not from eating. The handling of the animals, or simply having them close to the human, made possible for the virus to jump species. Of course you could say they kept those animals close so they could eat them...

Sometimes it just jumps to an intermediary animal first, such things are possible in farms or where many animals are kept or maybe processed (slaughtered, etc).

Its too weak for a bioweapon...

That really depends on your goals. If your goal is to kill as many people as fast as possible, you would be right. However if your goal is to infect the maximum number of people, this virus checks a lot of the boxes one engineering a virus would seek.

-long incubation period up to 24 days
-long lasting outside the body and on surfaces
-lots of passive asymptomatic carriers
-viral so medication options are limited
-airborne
-legality is high enough to be serious but not so high it slows transmission by immediately killing carriers
-high infection rates

Regardless of where it came from, the CCP seems to be taking full advantage of the situation to acheive other goals.

1791  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust System Abuse By Nullius on: February 12, 2020, 06:19:02 AM
He hasn’t abused you. I’d be happy to show you some abuse if you do wish. nullius is excersising his right to tag you for being a cunt. Count yourself lucky fella, close the thread and stop the attention whoring,

If that is what makes you feel better, have at it. Tagging some one for "being a cunt" is not a valid use of the trust system. Also, that is not what he tagged me for, if it was then maybe you would have a point. He might have tagged me for "being a cunt", but making up accusations because he doesn't like me is not an appropriate use of the trust system either now is it? Are you saying this tag is based in animus against me and not facts? I agree completely. I am not closing any thread, sorry. Unfortunately you will be seeing this thread for as long as it takes to have this false accusation neutralized, so enjoy the fruits of your labor. I am ready for the long haul. How about you?
1792  Other / Meta / Re: VOD should be removed from default trust for systematic abuse of his position on: February 12, 2020, 06:10:06 AM
For obvious reasons stated before:
I am not trying to get in the middle but I am still a little unclear on answered questions in previous replies (I was very clear about my unsure facts) so I really can't make any final comments past this echo:

What I see is a trust system that is not exactly well understood by everyone, but I have already made it clear what I think it is and how it is to be used.

By this measure alone: VOD is not using it correctly as His red flag doesn't seem to fit that criteria I outlined in an earlier post which I could be personally mistaken of....     Since I have never seen or heard of TEC misleading people to/or attempting/succeeding in ripping them off....  I do not see the reasoning being valid given my understanding.

Shit, I could be dead nuts on, or I could be dead wrong.  I personally don't feel like I am wrong.... but feelings aren't facts;  the are actually emotions invented in a land of uncertainty.

If the site is to resume/continue its previous stance/meta toward both parties:  there is nothing I can say or do to change this past the things I already have..... I would be echoing my words into an abyss; and adding more useless posts to this thread;  and I am trying to keep all of mine worthwhile.  The only comment I would have is that the trust system is not being used properly and is exacerbating these exact kinds of situations.  I am nowhere near in a position to tell VOD that they can or can't make his/her own accusations;  but that doesn't mean I won't sit as an arbiter and truth-seeker if there is complaints of unfairness and injustice.

TEC;  you are seriously keeping a cool head in all of this I commend it given some of the rough back and forth we (and others) have had before.
If I were in your situation, I would have just walked away years ago as Its how I deal with insanity:
I distance myself from it.
It takes a lot to put up with it.

Now Ill be blatantly honest here:

There is a part of my brain that still tells me to be mindful of the fact that there was a bunch of shit going around about banned members being on DT;  and the turkish section, and etc etc etc...    Most likely pure coincidence, but I don't discount things that are very real possibilities.

If you are curious about why I am thinking this way:  look no further than my post history surrounding my interactions with Woolwoo. (an extremely sketch behaving individual that's word selections when responding to me; make me distrust him greatly)

Again, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. So far the vast majority of people commenting are just attempting to join the dog pile and aren't interested in any critical examination of the situation. I am sure more people see this rating is garbage but are unwilling to speak publicly about it for fear of retribution, exactly like is being perpetrated against me here. That is why your voice matters more here because most of the rest of the forum either doesn't care or is a jellyfish.

No one thinks you are trying to tell Vod what to do, but you are allowed to form your own opinions and speak about them. Normally I would be throwing some more insults around (its fun), but I am refraining to demonstrate that is a personal choice and not an uncontrolled compulsion. Regarding the accusations of manipulating the trust list, can you tell me if you can find substantiation for his claims anywhere that Vod or Nullius have stated? They both swear up and down they have but when confronted act as if they are above explaining it "again".

Regarding the Turkish users, like all sections they have certain users that shouldn't have power in the trust system. Unfortunately I do rank wolwoo among them. Not because I have seen him do anything exceptionally bad, but his inability to do much more than throw insults around demonstrates to me he shouldn't be in the default trust list. This may just be because of a lack of English skills, but it doesn't really acheive much regardless. I am pretty sure wolwoo was never one of my inclusions.

Of course if anyone is concerned about any of my inclusions they can message me about it to discuss it. Simply jumping right to assuming I am trying to manipulate the trust list is a factor of implicit animus, as Nutilduh, Vod and others are well documented to have towards me. It is simply being used as a tool of retribution rather than a legitimate attempt at preserving the trust system's integrity. Also, there are a small group of users who have control over the trust list currently.

It should also be taken into account that expanding the default trust list is explicitly diluting their unilateral control over it, which was the whole point of the trust system changes. I believe this to be another large factor in the accusation against me. Not that I was doing anything wrong, but that what I was doing doesn't serve them personally in their goal to keep personal control over the default trust for their little in group regardless of who is technically qualified to join. Again, thanks for taking the time to comment and review this information. It speaks a lot for your character. The shrieking harpies and the the deafening silence of the rest of the jellyfish population also speaks volumes.
1793  Other / Meta / Re: REEE: Post Reporting Being Used As A Tool Of Harassment and Censorship on: February 12, 2020, 05:38:20 AM
My favorite thing about these threads is it is like a clown car that carpools around to pick up all the clowns and brings them to one place so they can demonstrate their clown act. Except for Vod of course, he is a sad children's party magician. He still hitches a ride with the clown car though. Don't forget your noses everyone.

So you're just choosing to remain completely impervious to the fact that you aren't being "singled out" and simply being treated like everyone else? Do you have anything relevant to add to the conversation or just namecalling?

Your response is a perfect example of a post that should be deleted for being off-topic. It doesn't have anything to do with the subject matter being discussed and is simply trolling. If it gets deleted, I wouldn't be surprised, and I also wouldn't be surprised if mine was deleted along with it.

Do you ever ask yourself, regardless of what is happening here, why it is you are so obsessed with my every activity you feel the need to respond to it? It seems to me people who spend so much time observing and commenting on an individual have ulterior motives. Of course concern trolling is absolutely on topic, and you take full advantage of that don't you Nutilduhhhh?

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

Winston Churchill

You are a credit to this forum. I would not venture to say that to many here. Those that will stand silent whilst others are abused and vilified unduly are not the types of members bitcointalk needs.

I have been told presently there are PM's circulating that instruct members to place my account on ignore. They mentioned a moderator was endorsing this action. Therefore the roots may run deep.

With perseverance this tyranny and abuse can be thwarted. Those that shy from debate cowering behind groundless personal attacks, are lambs awaiting public slaughter.

Petty squabbling is a waste of time. Strong argument to abolish any and all subjectivity within the trust system is my prime target. Individual abusers and their past deeds serve only to illustrate the urgency.

Fighting for others is admirable above even fighting for your own fair treatment. Many respect your previous efforts. You should not regret that such selfless actions have resulted in your own persecution. If theymos is willing to throw you under a bus, he throws under a bus all those honest members that will not stand idle and watch injustice and corruption that erodes the free and open speech this community deserves.

I don't regret anything regardless of the results. The ones who stand by idly and protect their own asses (I like to call them jellyfish) are the ones that will have to live loathing themselves for not speaking up when they know they should have. That is the kind of behavior that fills your soul with shit and takes a lot of sacrifice to repair your own self worth. I would rather risk annoying some random internet assholes than take a dump all over my principles for cash any day. Anyone who has a problem with that can suck it.
1796  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Cult of Lauda] An historic peace: Rome’s treaty with Carthage on: February 11, 2020, 03:18:31 PM
This was always correct use of the system, I'm really tired of this "only trade" or "only scammers" nonsense that's being portrayed by others. It is incorrect.

I must remark, there are two very different visions of how the trust system should be used.  I agree with yours (and sorry, I am indeed a sort of extreme version of you on that point).  In another thread, Quickseller reasonably disagreed with my tag on TECSHARE without picking a fight with me over it.  Ultimately, the community will move to an organic consensus on what best benefits the community as a whole:  A narrowly limited reputational system that exclusively focuses on direct evidence of trading reliability, or a more robust reputational system that encompasses trustworthiness of character (which is indirect evidence of trade risk, as well as being important in a thousand other ways).

Although, as a cypherpunk, I have a yen for discussion of pseudonymous reputational systems, the subject is hereby off-topic beyond noting that reasonable people can debate that point reasonably.

There is no gang. There is no abuse in QS's case. I will not repeat myself.

Moreover, attempts to polarize this thread and turn it into a flamewar are despicable.  It evident that certain parties want for you to have a continuing forum war with Quickseller, because they benefit from conflict qua conflict and from you having more enemies.  Don’t let these sowers of discord get to you, kitty.

Except you refuse to debate the point reasonably. Your argument is you agree with an accusation some one else made, which you nor anyone else can substantiate. That is not a debate, that is you unilaterally declaring your actions correct.

Just because people are critical of the clearly superficial nature of this detente doesn't mean they want further escalation. They are simply pointing out the obviously hypocritical nature of claiming to be more reasonable in one place while perpetuating abuses elsewhere. This is a "PR" move more than anything. People could have got off of Quickseller's back a long time ago (and should have).

They are only doing it now because there is push back on their abuse, and it is a low cost way to look good by not mobbing him over some shit that happened a half a decade ago. They already drew their pound of flesh from him, he submitted to deescalation a long time ago. They only stopped beating the dead horse because there was only a pile of dry bones left to beat. They haven't punished their other detractors enough yet to have such a tolerant attitude with them. They will be reasonable AFTER they get what they want, and it doesn't matter anyway (short of less drama to wade through).

Bumping this up to see if anyone has interest in any or all of these parts. Pretty much any reasonable offer will be accepted.
I would be interested in force measurement equipment. I do a lot of testing on how much pressure devices can take until they fail. I usually buy load cells and digital displays from Transducer Techniques. But could always use used ones.
Look here to see if they are like these. I use the LBO Series but they have many others I use.
Let me know if you have any like the LBO.
Thanks,
Mark
