2021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: July 15, 2021, 11:02:26 PM
Denver came close though and Peyton won me most (maybe all I forget) of my leagues as I grabbed him first to third round (which I was the laughing stock of a few leagues until a few weeks in). No-one drafted a QB before 5th round back then.

I find that surprising, though I don't know how your league scored QB stats.  Maybe you got a point every time he handed the ball off?  Grin

Really though, I remember Payton being more of a game manager that last year in Denver.  He would throw many short routs for scores, but they seemed to be a run-heavy offence, as I recall.

I would grab Rogers higher if he is with Denver than if hes with GB.

He was the MVP last year, with a relatively average supporting crew.  I wouldn't hesitate to take Rodgers even if he went to Houston.

Remember that Fantasy numbers do not necessarily correlate to team wins, alot of winning teams have QBs that put up mid range numbers like Brady did for most of his career.

It's been about 6 or 7 years since I've joined a league, but this was a lesson I had to learn the hard way.  I remember a couple of years ago Dallas was among the worst teams in the league but Dak Prescott was leading the league in passing yards.  Didn't add up to a lot of points for Dallas, but I'm sure he was smoking the fantasy leagues with those numbers.

I will be without a doubt one if not the worst performers on this league.

That means you are obligated to be the best trash talker!  Tongue

The current schedule is that we will all face each other twice during the season from week 1 to 14, semifinals week 15 to 16 and finals week 17 to 18, if someone wants to propose a change feel free to do so as this is our league.

That sounds fine to me.  It'll make it fun for all of us to be involved late into the season.

It sounds like everyone is okay with the 0.0015BTC buy-in (except suchmoon) and with me holding the coins.  I'll provide a segwit address this weekend.  Should I post it here in public, or should I send a mass-PM to the participants?  I don't want to risk anyone's privacy, if that's a concern.
2022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 15, 2021, 10:42:44 PM
It's a pity for the England team when they have the most potential and promising players.  I still don't understand why Sterling, who wasn't outstanding, was crucified on the pitch for the remaining 120 minutes?  Lol

Sterling was penalized in the box at least once, and it never got called, that would likely have given the Brits a second goal and match would have been over in 90 minutes.  It was definitely a spat of bad luck for England.  Italy is obviously going to play well, it's Italy after all, but England was the better team leading into the Final, and I think they played better during the match as well.
2023  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you know if someone left you Bitcoin after death? on: July 15, 2021, 06:57:01 PM
The conundrum here is; if you put it into your will, you are effectively trusting a third party to manage your funds after death, which is completely destroying the point of managing your money in the first place. The other side is, if you don't trust a third party to handle this for you, you either need to come up with a process yourself, which is risky in itself since if you can't guarantee they'll be able to follow the instructions, i.e being too cryptic in case someone else stumbles upon it you can't guarantee they'll be able to decipher it, and gain access to the coins.

I've actually spent some time thinking about this, and one solution I came up with was a set of 3 seed-cards, stored in three different safety deposit boxes, at three different banks.  The keys to the safety deposit boxes could be included in one's will.  As is typical for safety deposit boxes, only the next-of-kin possessing a valid death certificate can access them.  A fourth safety deposit box can be set up for the extensions, if needed.

That way, even if the relatives don't know about your bitcoin, they'll learn about it at the reading of the will, and only those relatives who inherit the safety deposit box keys will be able to access it.

I reckon they'll be a little miffed once they get started on the treasure hunt.  None of it will be difficult for them, but I'll be laughing my ass off from heaven watching them scramble to find the right ones.  I've been tormenting my children from the get-go, so once I'm gone they might actually enjoy my last "Dad Joke" I get to play on them.
I can only imagine how much fun it must have been coming up with the treasure hunt. Hopefully, they don't tear their hair out for years on end, because Dad hid their house money Wink

Lol, I wish I had that much bitcoin.  Unfortunately most of my wealth IS my house.  It'll be pretty easy for them to figure out where the extensions are hidden, and they'll have access to them regardless.  They just won't know where to look at first, is all.  It's more to provide them a game of sorts than anything else.
2024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you know if someone left you Bitcoin after death? on: July 14, 2021, 10:42:21 PM
My kids (all adults now) know I have some bitcoin, and I've taught them enough that they'll figure out how to access mine once I've moved on to greener pastures.  I keep all of my seed phrases secure in my gun safes, to which they'll have access.  To retrieve my bitcoin they'll also need the extensions which are hidden off site, but I've set up a little treasure hunt for them to find those.

2025  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportsbet.io - Main sponsor of Southampton FC on: July 14, 2021, 10:25:59 PM
just to brag, some gifts have arrived from Sportsbet. I expected only a Southampton shirt, but this Watford is amazing. I love it.
Thanks to Sportsbet and Steve  Wink

Score!  I've always liked the Watford jersey with the big BTC on the sleeve.

I just noticed the title of the thread has changed, Is sportsbet.io no longer sponsoring Arsenal FC?
2026  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Sharing a sportsball on: July 14, 2021, 10:03:40 PM
I might be dating myself here, but I seem to recall all the ones we had growing up were red, not black.  My favorite recess game was kickball, and IIRC we used the same balls for all those schoolyard games.

Thanks for the nostalgia.   Grin
2027  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake Account Seller - Colires - Telegram @COLIRESTHELASTONE on: July 14, 2021, 12:53:09 AM
The problem is every time somebody accuses colires of doing this or that they are like you and never present any evidence to back their claims.

The other problem is that many of the account traders operating here are pure scum, and it's hard to perceive them as victims.  Like in this situation, for example:
he scammed me for 350$ for revolut account.

Why is anyone buying a bank account, when it's free to create your own?  Maybe because you don't want your name associated with one?  And who would sell their own with their real identity attached?
NO ONE!  So, how was the account obtained?

The only thing I do know is that I really don't want to know.  Account sales are among the worst thing that goes on here, and I wouldn't mind to see theymos ban them all.
2028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: July 14, 2021, 12:15:32 AM
I would recommend we draft as close to league kickoff as we can

Agreed, if we can schedule for the weekend before the first kick-off, that would be best.

I am away most weekends weekday nights are better for me but I can figure something out if it's on a Saturday night.  Also are we all generally in the same timezone.  Do we have any non US folks in the league.  And lastly I can get a coue members here join if we want a 10 person league.  I generally like at least 20 as it makes the waiver wire part of the season.  8 team league is fine it's just every team is stacked.  Up to you all...and lastly I'm down for any price .0015 is fine by me.  Just let me know where and when to send Smiley

I think we've got folks from all over the world here, actually.  At least one member from Europe, and at least one American ex-pat hiding out in eastern Asia.  Weekends would be best for me, I tend to be early riser, which means I go to bed early too.

I don't mind the small league.  It means I'm guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.   Grin

Just as a part of the discussion; not a recommendation for this league:  Now that the NFL year is 18 weeks, I think 16 teams would be the ideal number.  That way each team plays each other once, and only half the teams make it into the playoffs.

ETA:
And lastly I can get a couple members here join if we want a 10 person league.
I have no problem with more or as is, but I do like that the lineup right now is people I trust.

I also like the current crew, prefer we keep things small for now.
2029  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 Campaign Manager on: July 13, 2021, 11:37:14 AM
Shame on you.

I tend to agree, with the OP to some extent.  Even though there's nothing to indicate the project is a scam, it should be clear to any rational person it has a snow ball's chance in hell to succeed.  The more senior members of the forum, and Royse777 being one, should have a bit more scrutiny to the projects they promote.

From a perspective of ethics and sensibilities, I find the project to be rather misogynistic and tacky.  I have nothing against porn, everything in it's own place and for it's own time.  The graphics are in poor taste, and they link to a site that's should have an NSFW warning.

DT needs to put neutral trust on Royse777 account.

That's where we differ.  My sensibilities are mine, and I have to own them.  There's nothing here that would cause me to suspect Royse777 is risky to do business with, regardless of whether we differ on what's appropriate to discuss in polite society.

First of all, I will suggest OP use your main account. You shouldn't be in trouble to open a thread against a campaign manager. You have the right to notify the community if you notice something wrong in a project.

In a perfect world, yes.

OP why don't you use your main account if you want to criticize Royse for his managerial skills?

Do we all agree 0.0015 is a good amount?

Yeah, I'm good with 0.0015, but lets make sure suchmoon doesn't try to pull another fast one.

Next up: does anyone have any objections to @DireWolfM14 as our Official FF Escrow? I have seen him do escrow services free of charge in the past and am assured of his competency, so maybe he would privilege us with this undertaking.

I have no problem with this, happy to help out assuming no one objects.  And, of course I'll do it free of charge.

Regarding escrow, we should decide somewhat soon so the address can be available for a few weeks before the deadline.  That'll allow us to send our stake with cheap fees.  Mempool is clear and fees are low right now, but who knows if it'll stay that way.
2031  Other / Meta / Re: Admin/Mods Please lock the Livecoin Thread on: July 12, 2021, 08:02:00 PM
This has been going on since March, but for some reason it's gotten really prolific over the last few weeks.

Looking at this post from that thread, it seems sincere (though I'm not sure I should believe this member).  People could very well be getting refunds from Livecoin, but they're going about it the wrong way by making people post in their thread.  There's no need for that.

It's quite odd to say the least.  There does seem to be some sincerity to that post, but it could be just a ruse by a LiveCoin sock puppet.  It's hard to believe that LiveCoin is actually offering refunds, but if they are, they picked the most obnoxious way to go about it.

If it's true that LiveCoin are offering refunds it could be they're trying to repair their reputation, possibly to resurrect the exchange.  But why?  As far as I know the operators were anonymous, so they could just start fresh with new name and not contend with the stigma of the "LiveCoin" name.  Even if they are returning funds out of ethical and moral convictions, why do so in a way that keeps promoting the fiasco in the first place?

The whole thing just makes so little sense.
2032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽⚽ North American Soccer Discussion Thread - CONCACAF - MLS - Liga MX - CFU ⚽⚽ on: July 11, 2021, 08:34:20 PM
The Concacaf Gold Cup is under way, it started last night with Mexico and Trinidad Tobago playing the first match in Arlington Texas.  Everyone expected Mexico to run away with it, but Soca Warriors held on to a scoreless draw.  A big win for Trinidad Tobago.

Qatar's national team is an invited guest for this competition.

The USA plays Haiti later today, obviously I'm rooting for the US to take the cup!
2033  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Reference] Lending board spammers and scammers. on: July 11, 2021, 01:00:22 AM
This one post newbie asking for a no collateral loan:

Looking for a .05 - 1 BTC loan to be paid off monthly over the course of about a year, or as soon as I get the cash to pay it back. Planning on buying a car and renting a house and need the cash to get a job. I do not have any transportation to get to and from work. Willing to verify my identity to a lender as well. PM me or post here if you have any questions. Willing to pay up to a 15% APR depending on the amount and loan terms. Thank you and have a good day.

Collateral:
Contract that will be worked out in the trade details. Will state I am fully liable for the repayment of this loan, with my identity verified, or will be subject to being sued or arrested.

Then for his second post he offers this gem:

Running a quick lottery game for anyone who wants to play. Send .00074 BTC to my address and I will draw every 6 hours for a winner. If enough players join I will reduce the time per draw to 3 hours per draw for right now. More forum games will be added if there is interest in this lotto game (multiplayer interactive games, non interactive games, random games, etc.). This game is operating off a trust based system! If you do not trust me fully do not send me any coins, this is not a place to scam or try to perpetrate any scams!

Game #1
BTC Lotto
Price per ticket: .00074BTC
Send BTC to this address: bc1qstgqkgd67n0xdnvv8vxeu9rw30v37xgzxktfjk
Drawings: (4PM Eastern standard time/1PM Pacific standard time), (10PM EST, 4PM PST) - drawings will occur at these times daily
Number of entrants required for draw: 2
Ticket #'s: Starts at 1 and goes up to as many people that join the drawing (Ex. If 500 people buy tickets there will be the lottery numbers of 1-500)

All winnings, minus 3% of the pot goes to the winner of each drawing. So say there is 10 tickets in the pot for a total of $250. The winner will get $242 of the $250 (97% of the total pot, 3% for my time and running these games

Send me your payment address through personal message or post it on this thread and I will keep it on file for any future payouts for this game unless you contact me to update your payment info

Rules of the drawing and how it will operate
1) Tickets will be handed out as first come first serve, so the first ticket will be given out as the #1 and I will record it privately that it is your ticket. I will post right before I draw how many participants there will be for each drawing.
2) To receive a ticket, pay .00074 BTC to the address above and post your payment address on this thread or personal message it to me (I will maintain a record of your payment address and unless you update it with a new address I will continue to send payouts to the address I have on file for you)
2) As tickets get purchased, increasing numbers will go up until 5 minutes before the drawing occurs
3) There are no maximum limits for tickets purchased, so if there is a lot of people in a drawing you could get the number 500 or even 1000
4) I will use the online random number generator at http://www.randomnumbergenerator.com/  to pick a winner for each drawing
5) Winnings will be paid out as drawings occur daily
6) There will be a recording of each drawing I do through the number generator - I will personal message it to all contestants at the end of each drawing
7) This game will operate off a trust based system, me or any close friends I have are not allowed to partake in this drawing

More forum games will be added if there is interest in this game! Good luck to all the players!
2034  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for .05 BTC - 1 BTC Loan on: July 11, 2021, 12:48:36 AM
I am going to offer a contract based form of collateral with my identity verified and everything. That way if the loan is not paid back, I am subject to arrest or being sued.

That's not valid collateral.  Obviously you didn't read the post to which I provided a link.  Identification documents can easily be faked, and none of the lenders here have the ability to verify your their authenticity.
2035  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for .05 BTC - 1 BTC Loan on: July 11, 2021, 12:21:59 AM
That's not how things work around here.  One-Post-Newbies don't get loans without providing valid collateral.  Read this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=577765.msg6311902#msg6311902

It'll be best if you lock this thread now before you get your first red-tag, the button to lock the thread is in the lower left-hand corner of the page.
2036  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Not reading psbt file on: July 10, 2021, 06:40:26 PM
How would sending bitcoin to my own address reduce the inputs.

Adding to ranochigo's comments; assuming you have 100 current inputs in one or more addresses, and you're limited to 20 UTXOs per transaction, you can turn those 100 UTXOs into 5.

In Electrum make sure you have your addresses tab and your coins tab visible.  On the menu bar select View>Show Addresses, and View>Show Coins.

From the Coins tab you can select one input to spend, or multiple inputs to send together.  From the Addresses tab you select a specific address to spend from, which will select all the inputs to that address.  Also from the Addresses tab you can select an address you want to use to receive the inputs.  You can send the inputs the same address they are coming from, another used address, or select an unused address.

Once you've decided on the inputs to consolidate, send them all to your chosen internal address with the lowest possible fees; 1 satoshi per byte.  Then once all the applicable inputs have been consolidated you can send the consolidated inputs to the recipient.  You don't have to wait for the consolidation transactions to confirm, the default settings in Electrum allow to spend unconfirmed transactions.  If you sent them all to the same address you can select that address from the Addresses tab and send the desired amount to the recipient.  This method is referred to as Child Pays For Parent (CPFP.)  To help pay for all the parent transactions you'll want to use a slightly higher than normal fee for the child transaction.  Make the fee appropriate for your spending needs, then add a few more sats/byte.  This method should help you save a little bit on fees.
2037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet.dat question. on: July 10, 2021, 01:42:20 PM
Windows is one big piece of spyware.

Spyware schmyware!  Are you not aware that you can set up Windows with a local account, and provide no personal information?  Okay, so Windows is not open-source, but if you're personal information is also "closed-source," spyware problem solved.  If your privacy is a significant concern you're probably already using Tor or VPN for IP masking.  Unencrypted data you transfer through the internet is more likely to divulge personal details than anything I'm likely to save on OneDrive, and a warrant isn't required.

Together with all the known and unknown vulnerabilities at any given time, the risk of getting compromised with a windows system is higher than getting compromised using a mac or unix system.

Of course there's more risk to Windows than other systems, because hackers want results.  If everyone took your advice and started using Linux, do you think that hackers would continue to only target Windows?  Hacking a Windows box, or writing malware to attack Windows isn't any easier than it would be for other systems.  In fact, with all the closed-source anti-malware features built into Windows these days, I would reckon it's harder.  It makes perfect sense that hackers would target the most commonly used operating system just because it's the most commonly used operating system, regardless of difficulty.

It's perfectly fine to not like Windows because Bill Gates, NSA, ABC, XYZ... but, it's disingenuous to promote this theory that if you don't use Windows somehow your privacy is magically protected, and you're invulnerable to being hacked.  That's far from the truth.  If you don't know how to keep your data private or your computer safe, no OS will protect you.  Educating yourself, your family, and your colleagues is the only safe course of action, and promoting any alternate theory is dangerous.

Admins and Mods,
Please take a moment to investigate what's going on with the Livecoin service discussion thread.  Even thought Livecoin has ceased operations and is out of business, the thread is being spammed by a bunch of newbie accounts that appear to be shills, bots, or both.  The typical reasons for reports don't seem to apply to the individual posts (incentivized posting, maybe?) so I'm afraid reporting them won't help.  Others have already done so, to no avail.

There's a discussion in the Reputation board about the issue which includes more details:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5328907.0

Please lock or nuke the thread.
2040  Economy / Reputation / Re: livecoin.net invasion on: July 09, 2021, 07:52:10 PM
Nothing in this make any sense

I know it doesn't take much to confuse me, so I'm glad I'm not the only one.  The livecoin site isn't up anymore, but the domain is still there.  Back in April I would have agreed that this was some backhanded tactic to drive up the stats for the site to which the livecoin domain was forwarding.  But there's no meta redirect anymore, what's the endgame now?

In the last 24 hours there have been 15 posts claiming to have received their 50% reimbursement, and a single one by an account with more that 2 posts total.  They're obviously sock puppet shills.  What's the point of shilling for a defunct exchange that has no web presence?  Maybe they're still trying to drive traffic to the domain in hopes of selling it to some unsuspecting noob.

if anyone wants to help me report those accounts and get the thread closed that'd be great thanks.

I'm not sure if reporting the posts will help, so I started a thread in Meta: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5348543.0
Hopefully that attract attention from Theymos or other admins, and we'll get some results.
