Stupid newbie post forthcoming Cheesy

Sorry. I'm a complete Linux/ubuntu newbie. But windows 8 finally inspired me to quit dealing with windows.

Now, my problem. I can't seem to make the TEK wallet. I thought I had followed the instructions explicitly from the source, but it exits with errors every time. Could one of you give me a step by step breakdown of what I need to do? I'd like to be able to have both qt and the headless, if possible.

Ain't got a lot, but 1 TEK to whoever gets me rolling.

Thanx everybody, very helpful..I was wondering about your community, but I see now that "GAMER67" is just a bad apple.

Actually, no.

He's been a solid asset since the coin went POS. You came in shouting. If you haven't learned that ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING by this late date, I suggest some serious remedial reading on your part. That particular etiquette predates the world wide web by a couple of decades. Pretty much since the beginning of extended ASCII. Go back to the late 70's when computers really only did caps, then it wouldn't matter.

All of us involved in this have been frustrated. Sometimes a bit too much. I bailed and came back after I calmed down. But CryptoGir has already fixed a number of the problems and is hard at work on the rest. Unpaid, too. So far he's refused donations even though several of us (Gamer67 included IIRC) have offered. I'm trying to be diplomatic, here, but I basically agree with Gamer67. You came in with an obvious attitude. If it smells of Troll, one tends to equate it with Troll, Capice?

None of us are happy with how this went down. This coin appears to have a lot of potential. But until the new dev gets it sorted, that is all it is. Potential.

GO BACK TO THE '70's Huh ETIQUETTE ? YOU DON"T EVEN KNOW HOW TO SPELL "capisce"

BTW.. MY MOM CAN BEAT UP YOUR DADS
 Grin Grin Grin
Congratulations. You are the third person to make my ignore list. Have a life.

2145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚒[CGA] Cryptographic Anomaly - The Elusive Coin⚒ on: April 22, 2014, 09:14:41 AM
maybe we can think about adding a PoS for CGA?

I would suggest not. That would make it less elusive, and it's quirkiness is what makes its appeal. Granted, it's all the rave right now, but so what? If it were common fashion, it wouldn't be an anomaly.
2146  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GPUs and FPGAs replace ASICs was Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 22, 2014, 05:55:31 AM
Yes, my English is not the best and your math competence zero. Let me write this slowly because I know that you cannot read fast.
Calculating a hash takes <1s, due to a special condition it is a bit more complicated with Bitcoins. They way they do it today is Brute Force. ASICs are perfect for this.
Expensive in developing, very cheap in producing. But you cannot do anything else with them. Once they do not use Brute Force anymore, they are dead and GPUs are much faster,
because general purpose. Got it ?

Conan

even 10 years down the line, your gpu is not going to hash as much as an usb powered ASIC.

bitcoin ASICs are useless for anything other than hashing, but GPUs are now useless with bitcoin mining. world will never ever mine with GPUs again..

Yes, there was also a time when people believed the world is flat. World will use GPUs again, because they are much faster. Maybe you should leave the current
orthodoxy about the world is flat. And in 10 years down the line, ASICs for hashing are dead, I would say already after summer, but this is just a rough estimation.

Conan

ok. Since you are obviously getting a word wrong, you can't mean faster we know that...no GPU can hash as fast an ASIC when mining bitcoins. GPUs can do other things, like mining other coins, playing games, and being sold on Ebay for those purposes. Do you mean better and not faster?

Let's test your confident but fucked up statement. Post the GPU that can beat a KNC mercury. One board.
We'll all check and then we'll know what to say when we call the doctor to collect you. Smiley

Hell, I'll make it easier. Show me the GPU that can beat my AMT/Technobit HEX16B. Avgs 42 GH/s. I will bet  500,000 EAC that you can't come close. And no, Scrypt and Keccak don't count, even though I'd still win.

Edit: typo.

OK..got it. That wasn't so hard was it...Now everything is perfectly clear..in this case, POS stands for Piece Of Shit Grin

So far, you'd be correct. However, you just arrived after a semi hostile takeover. Give it a minute Cheesy

I look at Crypto Altex ,some one trade SHA coins when I wait my stake coins. Who can sell coins? Huh

You can trade, but not deposit or withdraw. So it's pretty much limited to stock on hand until the wallet is finished.

how many coins in circulation now?

seems everything is not working
A few days ago, Cryptogir advised shutting down the wallet until he finishes the repairs. that's the last I know.

edited for being done with one hand while feeding baby Tongue typos.

Also, CryptoAltex and Bittrex both, at the time, said they were suspending deposits and withdrawals to avoid any forking issues until advised otherwise by CryptoGir. I have bought a few on both sites, but will not attempt to withdraw them until I hear more. I say buy 'em while they're cheap, and captive Cheesy

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON, brothers!

Cryptogir will make this coin even more appealing than it was to start with. Let's all be patient - after all, nobody's spending hashpower on this and PoS@25% is well worth the wait.
+ a lot.

I'm checking for updates, but since I can't code, I can't help. So I'm watching, and waiting for him to fix it and put up a damn tip jar!

I don't think anyone knows,  seeing as how difficulty is impossible to predict.  Welcome to mining.  Smiley

You can always estimate it though?

If you have a well functioning crystal ball, you'll make a fortune. Regardless of bitcoin mining Tongue

In truth, you can estimate fairly closely for one to three diff changes, but that's about it. Best to be pessimistic and plug in at least 25% increase per change. If you do that, most of the time you'll be pleasantly wrong, but there will be times when it jumps like mad.

AND today is a PAYDAY

best day in a week. Grin

My favorite day of the week!  I keep throwing it back at PB though, one of these days I need to keep it! lol  Cheesy

And the price just dropped 3.5 %

New price = 0.0056 BTC/GHS

1 BTC = 179 GHS  Grin
And how many years till you get that btc back? Smiley

If it's less than five, it's all good.

What means (n/a) address in my wallet? I have regular withdrawal from my wallet to unknown address.

If it's like other PoS coins, it's showing stake, and it will come back. Type "getinfo" (sans quotes) in the debug window and see what the "stake" line says. I'd bet they match.

Just a question from someone who isn't a customer yet, would it be possible to integrate some sort of profit calculator into the website, possibly somewhere under the tab where you place your order? One that would not include electricity costs etc.

That's a great idea actually!  We will definitely look into adding that.

why need of that?

there are lots of calculators in the web.

convenience.

For reasons unknown, after I rented the rig it started mining at the somebody else's setup. I didn't notice for about 15 minutes. Reset it, informed s4ndm4n by PM. About half an hour later he credit me with the missed time and a bit besides.

Very good customer service. and the rig performed a bit better than advertised.

Thanks!
2158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: April 16, 2014, 11:56:55 AM
Banks are not inherently evil. [...] The business of a legitimate bank is to get money loaned out on a risk appropriate basis, and make money for their depositors via interest. Doing this fosters development and adoption.
Correct.

There are a great many reasons why banking would be very good for bitcoin and other cryptos.
Incorrect.

Only a fool would lend a highly volatile currency like bitcoin is, since if it goes one way they pay you back easily but they're worth less, and if they go the other way they just won't be able to pay you back at all.

Plus, there's no bitcoin ecosystem, which is one of the reasons they are so volatile, so it would be silly to ask a loan in that currency anyway: you should get loans in the currency you are actually going to base your businss on.

The volatility has a lot to do with the fact that it is NOT much of an ecosystme at the moment. It's getting there.

In fact a lot of short term loans ARE made with bitcoin. I think a bank or bank like institution would actually help that, as they would set longer term interest rates just due to the nature of finance.

And we ARE speculating on the future here Cheesy

Besides that, a great many banks rely upon and utilize the US dollar. Can you think of a more volatile currency? It's current value is so far below it's initial market as to be a ludicrous, yet it continues on...

Posted feedbacks about trades with me or mining rig rents.

PM me if you have any problems.

Notice:
Connection to Dedicatedpool is unstable.  Please use other pools when possible.

Didn't see this till after the rental was done. Spent three hours on dedicatedpool, with no problems at all Cheesy

Good rental. Next time maybe I'll pay better attention to feedback threads, but it worked out.

It should be a coffin on the logo as this coin is dead. Tongue
Maybe you should visit the irc channel.  you will soon discover this coin is far from dead.

second logo looks sweet.

Recovering from catalepsy, perhaps?   Grin

I'm votin' for the second one as well. That's a sweet logo!
