Is smoothrunnings like a term for explosive extremely liquefied diarrhea?

That would seem rather turbulent to me... Maybe just garden variety diarrhea?

Most people are content to see the stacks of photo's that were posted today.

Videos of assembly, pictures of boards and chips. And of course the revelation by bitcoinorama that he wears women's high heeled shoes and hasn't mastered how to walk in them yet.

There are obviously still problems with the chips, boards and shoes, or else KNC would have shipped.

I think everyone assumes they will iron out the problems and ship in the next couple of days.

I think most people are content to live with shipping one or two days late.

In the long run it means nothing - getting a working miner soon is all most sane people here are interested in.

Everyone log off and get an early night.

I'd say there will be no more news today, just the straight-jacketed forum loons howling into the night...

I'd take your advice, there, except it's just a bit after 1pm where I'm at, and I'm enjoying the show Smiley

Also, I thnk the 100 percent yield comment was on the chips, not the hashrate.

A bit of speculation on my part, but I suspect that HUGE chip is due to multiple redundancy, which would gurarantee a very high yield on spec. It could also mean that a fair percentage of the chips are capable of much higher rates, should you be able to unlock all of the hashing engines.

I'm going to repeat this here before it get's lost.

Quote
EDIT; oh and as for the 'active but not posting' b*llocks. I'm in another country, which I have paid myself to come to. I'm not paying for data roaming on my sodding mobile so you can have you hands held on my minute by minute activity. You're relentless, and for the most part freaking me out. What little internet I have had has either been checked on free wifi, or here, I'm now paired to one of their mobiles, which involves standing outside. Which involves security clearance. Seriously when you think about it, it's bleeding obvious.

Don't sweat it, man. There've actually been quite a few of us in your corner.

Just have fun, enjoy your trip, and remember: Non illigitimi carburundum.

I haven't caught up on the thread, I imaged you've all fallen to pieces. Biomech has just forewarned me you have pitchforks. Because, why? It's not like I have any control over what I'd going on, or your ability to chill out.

LOL. Yeah, I did. I've been watching people freak for the last three days. Amusing as hell, if you ain't the one in the crosshairs.

Looks like good news! Have fun in the shop!
3245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 30, 2013, 12:00:29 AM
I'm choosing to prescribe to the "no news is good news" also.

In the (short but) entire history of Bitcoin ASIC mining, no news from a vendor has always been bad news: bASIC, BFL SC products, Avalon, etc. Sadly, I expect KnCMiner to be no different.

yes. redhash, avalon first batch, bitfury... "ALWAYS" is such a big word.... Again, why the fuck do you guys even talk about it? Wait another few hours and maybe there will be some news then. You can start to bitch about no news when September ends. Until then the innocence still lasts  Cool

and on that note... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVO8sUrs-Pw
3246  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: September 29, 2013, 11:57:37 PM
Just a quick note that the SD card (Kingston SD4) that shipped w/ my starter kit kicked the bucket yesterday after about 22 days of operation. I reflashed onto another card rather than trying to debug a 4GB sd card; I guess I'll be looking into the NFS root image approach shortly.

I really doubt that had anything to do with your mining machine. It has been my experience that Kingston's stuff is about 80/20 on reliability. 8 out of ten are bulletproof, and two fail withing a week or two. Never tried to warranty them, as they are cheap, but I've had far better luck with Sandisk and PNY.

The downside of that is that Kingston is usualy first to market with bigger cards Sad
3247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 28, 2013, 09:55:47 PM
The only thing we're sure of is that we don't know and no-one is keen to tell us. The last time information was this hard to get there was an enigma machine involved.

Well, they do have essentially the same function...
3248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 28, 2013, 09:35:44 PM
Occam's Razor... KNC is saying nothing and showing no assembly because... wait for it...

They have nothing to show.

All other speculation is a waste of time and pixels.

Btw, I did no say this to troll this thread.  I have a small order with KNC and do expect them to deliver.  But just not anytime soon.

I just find some posts so incredibly annoying... "I think they'll deliver 10 times the hashing power plus a scrypt miner AND a Ferrari" and "They have run off to Monaco and gambled away all of our preorder money".

Ok, I'm exaggerating, but you get my point.  There is no reason to think anything else than this... the simplest explanation is usually the correct answer.

Problem with that is there is more than one simple solution. Another, equally likely in my mind, is that they are behind schedule but got all hands on deck building the bitch and simply aren't updating until they have something to say.

I was under the impression that their office and production facility are separate, so this could EASILY be the case.

I think both the best and worst case scenarios are a bit over the top. My "bet" if you will is that they are going to start shipping on monday, and be one or two days behind from there.
3249  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner REfusing refunds on: September 28, 2013, 05:24:14 PM
I got the impression BFL is hardly even trying; they don't seem to work weekends, they don't even seem to make full use of their assembly space/stations by running shifts 24/7 so are presumably only using 1/3 to 1/2 the number of people in assembly as the space could fit if put to full use.

-MarkM-

Trust me! When BFL rids their backlog by the end of the year, give or take, they'll be free to dedicate their entire resources to only one line--the Monarch. And since they have learned from all pass mistakes, they're be no problem when them getting all the units pre-sold into the hands of their customs no later then the end of February as promised projected.

OTOH, KnC promised that all refunds will be honored up to the time of the item being shipped and I will cry fowl, like a free-ranged chicken, if they renege on that promise.

You sir are thoughly brainwashed...................BFL has NOT learned anything, except how guillable customers are  Roll Eyes

That PG is gone. May he rest in peace, because he kept me in stitches with his posts. We need a best of PG. Those were some classic posts.

Ironically, the post in question was penned to keep you in stitches, but somehow it got lost in translation. Short of using the seven letter word starting with s and ending with m, did you notice the strikethrough on the word promise?

Sadism? Oh, wait, that's six letters.... [/sarcasm]

^so much speculating, you guys are crazy, wait for facts and stop inventing between the lines!!

Oh, but this is fun! Smiley

Ah, got it, so you're in here for the comedy?

Not exactly. Entertainment, diversion, yes. My 'real' life is a mess, and this is at least interesting.

As someone above noted, I got no skin in the game. I'm not trying to disparage anyone, I'm just having fun watching. I actually hope they make it. I like this company, and so far most of the people in this race have been informative, and pretty friendly. Even when I was being a bit over the top.

A few not so much, but for internet fora? This is definitely one of the better ones. I've run into people on here that could make me feel stupid, but instead they were helpful. Every forum has it's trolls and morons, but not all of 'em have cool people. This one does.

For comedy, I watch BFL.

https://soundcloud.com/mindtomatter/e45-perspective-counts-lets   here is an interview with sam cole (sound file) about a device to mine all alt coins also the silliness of all the asic mnfg companies shipping w/o taking into consideration miners making a profit...ie miners have to make a profit to buy more miners in the future..interesting stuff

my 2c worth

Interesting interviews, but omg the overuse of the word "space" it sounded like a bunch of gen y art graduates having a discussion over a latte. It's like journalism on the emerging crypto technology has been suddenly hijacked by the fashion industry! I cringed several times.

Let's hope so! Fashion reporters sell fashion. And fashion has one hell of a premium, even when it's ugly. My wife is into Tiffany jewelry and Louis Vuitton purses. Neither are all that well made, and the markup over materials on them is like 900 percent! Get that sort of crowd thinking BTC is "cool" and watch the exchange skyrocket!
3253  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Redhash by TAV. A new 105 Gh/s ASIC miner. IN STOCK NOW! on: September 28, 2013, 04:29:00 AM
great work guys, this is what the mining community needs.

Thanks. I really hope that with Avalon gen2 chips, you guys will fix your distribution channel issues, and will improve your communication.

See this, ladies and gentlemen? This is class. TAV would probably have made a serious profit on this business model if Avalon had not dropped the ball. Yet Mrb is simply gracious, even after the fact.

Yifu, since you are watching this thread, I would hope you take note of that. There are still gentelmen i the business. I very much hope you can work out Bitsyncom's issues, as I would like to do business with THIS vendor.

That being said, Mrb, are you looking into other ASIC's, or staying put with Avalon? (An no, I won't be angry if you fail to satisfy my curiosity.)

Hopefully this little loss leader will give you the credibility to obtain proper funding (if you haven't already) for your next offering. And also hopefully I'll have the money on hand next time. You did catch me by surprise Smiley

Higher supply equals lower demand.

Ehh, must have missed that economics class.

Then you studied Keynes exclusively.
3255  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Countdown for Shipment on: September 28, 2013, 01:07:21 AM
ok it was fun....but BF needs to GTFO...this says KNC not BF.

Noted. I get tired of the comparison myself. While I try to be a realist, I rather like KnC.
3256  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: September 28, 2013, 01:05:12 AM
Does anybody has any recourse regarding chips that are being sent to them from a legal perspective?
As far as i see it, I paid for the chips myself, sending it to them does not means it becomes their asset? does it?
So they are basically just stealing my chips? Or does it categorize under their asset when they for bankruptcy/dissolve etc?

This one I'm certain of. The chips are not their property. They are essentially acting as a warehouse agent and are directly responsible to YOU for the safety and disposition of the chips.

If they refuse to return them, this is a criminal matter, unlike the other legal actions being considered. Specifically, it's theft by unlawful taking.

I was always so confident I would win my Bitbetting "yes"; now, considering the terms of the bet, Looks like I loose. Oh well.
http://bitbet.us/bet/472/kncminer-will-deliver-asic-devices-before-october-1st/
I just hope they don't forget us "September Delivery" Folks, and make up for it in some way.
Even if they shipped units right this moment, and shipping only took two days, yadda yadda.
And now the VAT issue is scaring me... Who is collecting the VAT, and WHEN? It could end up that our VATs are at the end of some list that takes a few days. I'm ready, and waiting for a call....  the list was sent in days ago and nothing has shipped, yet our promise of refunds up to the day of shipping has been yanked. I'm confused here, although I wasn't thinking of any refund, seemed a red flag, or at least bright yellow.

I will be thankful at least to see shipping begin, and appreciate still all the hard work they have done in bringing these to market under such harsh conditions, but a promise is a promise... So I look for the gang at KNC to make good on that promise.

I was under the impression you were in the US. No VAT here, despite the worst efforts of some politicians.

See? not that different. your clearly don't like bitcoin. (No really! its no joke, this is what bitcoin is like)

No one is forcing anyone to use Bitcoin. It's a free market.

51% starts changing the rules? I can sell my bitcoins. I can stop accepting their blocks. I can fork to my own version.

Bitcoin is no democracy.

And you can generally leave a country which is a democracy.
Physically, yes. To some extent. Unless they decide they want to keep you down.

But, given the largest proponent of democracy out there, you can't just opt out. If you officially renounce your citizenship, leave the fuckin' country and never look back, they still claim the right to tax you for TEN YEARS.

and @Kokjo, Bitcoin is a currency, not an ideology. Your editing of my post was, I admit, amusing. It had no merit in the discussion at hand, or in fact as anything more than a parlor trick. Unless you stop just trolling me, as you admit, then this is the last direct response you'll get from me.

Back to FA, 30 years ago it was relatively easy to emigrate and change or discard citizenship. But that wasn't working out for the rulers, so they altered it and made it just about impossible to completely escape unless you were a criminal or politically connected (but I repeat myself).

It can still be done, but something that used to cost a couple hundred dollars in adjusted fiat now takes tens to hundreds of thousands just in lawyer fees. It's not a viable option in most cases. And if you do not renounce citizenship, you will be "liable" for their taxes and their bullshit laws for ever, no matter where you go. Becoming a fugitive or a non person is not a reasonable option for someone who objects to another's method of doing "business".

Besides, I was born here, I am Cherokee, and they have NO RIGHT to my allegiance. Nor will they ever get it.
3259  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: September 27, 2013, 11:28:25 PM
I didn't put anything aside. There simply isn't anything more to say about Bargraphics, it's as clear cut as it comes. Also, I simply enjoy tracking down scammers. Does anyone know how long it would take for a business record to be updated in the California company registry? I want to make sure that I understand how quickly they would be shown as no longer active.

This is old information, so don't rely on it. I haven't lived in Cali for nearly a quarter of a century. But back then, a company would have two stages before being listed as inactive. First, they have to file bankruptcy and have a court date, at which point they were required to notify their stockholders and make a public statement, usually via a newspaper of general circulation such as the LA times, SF Chronicle or Sacramento Bee. That would be found under public announcements or legal announcements in the classified and business sections.

At that point, they were to inform the registry, who would put the declaration in their profile. Bear in mind that at the time the internet was a wet dream, so this was all done on paper at the Sacramento courthouse. Then the registry would be changed to Ceased Operations, Bankruptcy Proceedings initiated.

Only after the bankruptcy judgement is handed down would they be listed as "dissolved". Actually as "Debtor in Possession". Finally, after the bankruptcy was finalized and all debts settled to the satisfaction of the court, they would be listed as no longer a public entity.

The structure is still very similar to that here in Idaho, so I would assume (I know, dangerous) that it probably hasn't changed all that much in Cali.
3260  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: September 27, 2013, 11:09:32 PM
Alright, so who is organizing legal action against these assholes? I want in.

Don't count on others to do it.  What way did you pay?

Fucking bitcoin. ::idiot::

Sooner or later that case has to be tried. There is recourse in cash payments, and Bitcoin is a form of cash, so a lawyer just has to convince a jury of that. Not the easiest thing on earth, but far easier than proving fraud. As long as you have the transaction records, you should be able to make a case.
