Hey everyone I'm gonna handle the spreadsheet, I'll try and do it justice. And most certainly won't abuse my power... wait power... hmmmm.... why shouldn't I have the pointss's.... filthy table hobbits want my pointss's.... wait sorry.

Glad to see some returning faces, and new ones as well. Good luck everyone, oh and being the hyper observant sherlocky type, I just noticed SWC stepped up their sponsorship to .06 - Damn that's nice.

Globbo really wants to chat lol. Them tables can be rough.

You should have said you want to Hodl and just buy and hold your coins. From the explanation you have made here it’s clear that you want to Hodl, and you can do that. You have to find good cryptocurrencies that you believe are going to be increasing in price soon, then you can buy them and hold until their price increases.
Then you misunderstand my intentions here. I have held my coins, and still hold the majority in personal wallets. That being said I am still looking to use a portion of that to attempt to increase my holdings. The second part of what you said is exactly what I'm doing. I'm taking stabs at projects I think have a decent future. Given that the markets are always moving I want to play with using stablecoins, as a means of maximizing my profits by trying to avoid dips.

It won't be perfect, and could lose. I'm just not interested in doing nothing when I see a decent chance to improve my portfolio.

Quote
I'm keeping a portion of my coins on Binance... I know the risks but these are funds I want to trade with

I'm still stuck at this point. You must think twice before taking this risk. Every major exchange has worst history of getting looted by hackers. I mean yeah I get it you might be needing it for quick trade whenever there is surge in the prices for that particular coin to holding. However, no coin will go up and come down in like blink of an eye.

You still get plenty of time to transfer and trade the coins.

Even stop loss is so risky since we put up big amount of money for trade. Just a thought, I am no enthusiastic trader but sure the logic shall be followed.
New to crypto?? I haven't been around that long but I've seen enough 20% swings happen overnight, to know things can change very quickly. Most of the time I was no where near my wallets to do anything about it. So I am fine with the risk I am taking to trade on Binance, while it would suck I am using an amount I can lose and not be to pissy about.

I also said I have no interest in trying to play with stop/losses this is going to be me manually deciding when to trade.

I think you could see some of this suggestion to hodl if you don't want to hodl much of bitcoin. I agree that these altcoins have future on the longtime. Hodling stablecoin at this green time won't be a good business decision buddy.
No interest in holding stable coins just a tool to try and capitalize on big run-ups.

Awesome got my passwords and I should be there this weekend. My wife is going to be so happy guys  Tongue , but that's next weeks problem as I'm at work this weekend.

If people are okay with stats getting uploaded a few hours later somedays then I'm cool with updating the spreadsheet. I agree it's best to just keep with the same one @tyKiwanuka created. Hit me up here or in PM.

Not a biggie but it would be nice to see an update after the Thursday double plays out, announcing who won the best finish across both tournaments, even just the average needed to win it that week.

For anyone here who doesn't already participate we are starting our 4th Bitcointalk poker series - sponsored by SWC this Sunday. Information can be found here, no late reg and it's password protected.
425  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Taking Profits/Stacking Sats on: August 25, 2020, 03:47:00 PM
Stop-loss is important but give yourself a reasonable window on either up/down trend end. I'd say this though, things are looking greenish and if anything I'd buy BTC now and when the volatility increases convert it back to USDT - an idea  Grin
I plan on making any trades manually and at spot essentially. I'm only looking to capitalize on spikes in price, and then jump back in somewhere if the price pulls back. Yes I'm anticipating upward trends for a lot of the market, so that's why I'm getting things in place at this moment.

If the coins you're trading are correlated in any way with bitcoin, that might be problematic if you hold bitcoin while waiting for your next trading opportunity.  I've never owned stablecoins, but I know they're made for situations exactly like this.
Most of the coins aren't directly correlated, some are small projects that look to be gaining momentum. BTC is also one that I have a portion on the exchange that I'm planning to do this with as well.
I'd like to be able to take profits without placing them in added volatility.
Right, and that's exactly what you'd be doing by holding bitcoin instead of a stablecoin.
Right, but I'm being greedy  Tongue . I'm just looking to hit those moments when we see a 3K price run-up over the course of a day or 2, which seems to be followed by a correction somewhere in the middle. Not definitely going to hit it perfect that's why it's only going to be a portion. The altcoins I will sell for BTC, but again if the price appears likely to drop off I'm probably going to use a stablecoin until I see which way it goes.

I just got to thinking that despite it being a few years now, I'm still missing out on some opportunities.

There are some easy profits that you can achieve quickly, for example, there is a section in binance that tracks the movements of whales, a huge purchase of shitcoins can be esaily effected with next hour, you can take advantage of this feature and try to achieve 3-5% of the gains in less than an hour.
Some currencies have a good future like ADA, steller, so you can bet on the long term and buy more.
BTC/USDT is also a good way when you use it with the support levels.
Thanks for the tip. I might check it out from time to time and see if I can pick up on the patterns. Not something I'd have a lot of time to watch. ADA is something that caught my eye last year. Someone gave a presentation about it at the meetups I was going to. Hoping to see big things in the coming years... really sick of updating the wallet though takes me forever.
426  Economy / Trading Discussion / Taking Profits/Stacking Sats on: August 24, 2020, 08:53:16 PM
I'm not looking to become a day trader or anything like that. I just want to find the best way to capitalize on spots if I time it right.
I'm anticipating some run-ups and I'd like to be able to take profits without placing them in added volatility. Now I haven't paid much attention to stablecoins in the past but it makes sense to use them in this way.

I'm keeping a portion of my coins on Binance... I know the risks but these are funds I want to trade with. If I feel either of these coins enjoys a run-up that looks like it will retrace I want to sell off and convert to USDT, hold that until I see it retrace, or convert to more BTC.

I'm not interested in setting up a bot or getting into margin trading or really anything else more involved than what I describe above. Any tips or advice on a better way is welcome.
427  Economy / Gambling / Re: #3 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) on: August 23, 2020, 07:25:00 PM
GG all. I'm out. That was a very tight table to play and being card dead was terrible. It was really just swapping chips for the longest time and then out of nowhere a hand would happen.

Unfortunately I opened UTG, KQsuited and Betwrong jammed BB. Figured this was something they wanted protected definitely didn't think it would be Aces. Looks like pocketpairs in the blinds are the turning point. Wish it had been the same when I had AA in the BB, but that's how it goes sometimes.

428  Economy / Gambling / Re: #3 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) on: August 23, 2020, 05:02:25 PM
Ready to go here and I got some Spanish tapas.

Good luck to all in their respective tournaments. I opted to just play the finale, and the battle is on.

Globbo you and my wife like the same apple juice lol. Not going to record today unfortunately, I think it's just to much for the living room PC.

Edit: Wow the finale has been pretty spicy so far, with Hhampuz getting nearly stacked by Betwrong QQ VS. JJ, and then I believe it's morvill7z7 flopped set of 777, rivering a boat 7's full of 10's only to lose to arrallmus with their 10's full of Aces, improved from Top pair on the flop going runner runner for the win.

Still 8 left with morvill7z7 hanging in their.
429  Economy / Gambling / Re: #3 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) on: August 22, 2020, 09:40:10 PM
I did feel the rule was restrictive and brought it up at the time. I'm good either way as it's likely to be the last one for a while. If we do carry on I'd like to see it be anyone who plays 2 matches or more.

Not sure I'll play both but see you guys tomorrow.
430  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I don't see Bitmains supply issues improving on: August 22, 2020, 06:14:54 PM
Seems to be to be a pretty nice preorder.  I wonder how much they put down on the order for the 8000 units.

Hard to say what would be expected probably a minimum of 50% down. Might be some special workaround considering they have orders fulfilling every last month, this month and then again in February for 1000 miners each go.

This is not unique to Bitmain / crypto. Most manufacturers of anything that requires support / maintenance / customer service would rather sell in bulk then to individuals. The people on this board a a bit different in that for many support issues we can take care of ourselves. But how much time and effort has Bitmain (or any other maker of anything) spent with end user issues.

Apart form some decent direct contact with an account manager I don't imagine they step up their warranty game that much. They likely put the onus on the customer to have trained techs, through Bitmains certification process and then charge them for parts, as opposed to forcing returns for repair. In the end it's easier for them to sell off bulk quantities than deal with individual sales, it just leaves individuals to fit for the remainder.

That order basically cost them 4x's their Q1 and Q2 earnings combined. Q2 their mining revenues decreased $500k compared to previous year, so they've already been on the downswing. Haven't even been breaking $2M/quarter. $176.57M market cap so there's a decent chunk of investor money to burn through.

Typo fixed. Actually looking at the linked report their revenues are up compared with 2019, they state 11%. They do mention Q2 being down 500K from 2019, but that is explained by their downtime in moving their mining operations, the halving and they say diff increases. The latter isn't as relevant as that should be expected, but the first 2 make a lot of sense to explain that small snapshot.

This is likely to turn around now with the recent price increase, the fact that they've been steadily adding gear for the last 4 months and plans to grow outpacing diff increases.
431  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / I don't see Bitmains supply issues improving on: August 21, 2020, 02:26:03 PM
For a long time it's been clear that they really only care about commercial size clientele. They'll still sell us gear but it's more like we should appreciate the privilege. With all the infighting this year has already been a shitty time to order and wait on gear from Bitmain, and late 2020 early 2021 will likely be similar.

https://www.coindesk.com/riot-blockchain-buys-bitmain-rigs

Here is a public announcement of 8K S19 pro's top be delivered in 4 batches starting January 2020. This is one client that is being public about their orders, I can only imagine this is being replicated by others as well.

8K miners at a price of 17.7 Million = 2212.25$ per unit.

This article has a better description of just how hard Riot is going at this. I wonder if they are also waiting on some of those orders that are expected this year: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/riot-blockchain-announces-milestone-purchase-of-8-000-s19-pro-antminers-from-bitmain-with-delivery-starting-january-2021--resulting-in-1-45-ehs-in-total-hash-rate-301113391.html.

I am positive they will add players early enough but yeah, quite annoying.
Agreed. So definitely don't stress or worry on it anymore. The ball is in their court, and while annoying and surprising the lack of communication is not the end of the world. I hate it when people are flaky while trying to hammer out the details but there's not much to be done about it. So crack a beer, stress work on your site, and crack 5 more  Cool

Hell they update the SWC thread, but even then it's not consistent whether or not they do it daily which is the easiest promotion they can do for themselves here. It's how I found one of my favorite tournaments  Wink
Looking forward to Sunday, wouldn't mind winning another hat.
433  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Nights Discussion Thread (private games for btctalk members) on: August 20, 2020, 02:20:22 PM
I mean on a deeper level. Should I even be playing for straights at all? or are they just extra possibilities I should keep as a plan B ? Obv unless it flops.
*edit* 98.1 Krill      Cool      */edit*
Just to add to the bang on explanation of odds from FOMA. My short answer to this is yes, yes, yes emphatically yes. That is for open-ended, especially if you flopped that way. These hands also open up a great opportunity to bluff the river if it's a brick; or say the heart flush were to come in on the river. It gets tricky but using the information you gather pre-flop and post flop you can decide whether you think your opponent was drawing to this or will fold believing you hit.
Missed draws make a great bluff, as you might call/bet in a similar fashion to having top/overpairs. Like everything it's not perfect, I've bluffed into the nut straight but that's not the norm once you get a good feel for how these spots play out.
Getting more specific on your example, your options for play will vary on position and pre-flop play. 3-bet pre? Position of opener? Normal betsize? How often do they C-bet?

Don't be surprised if people put you in a tough position on the turn with a larger betsizing.

Nice that krill is climbing good.
434  Other / Meta / Re: Is there anything like a ban notice on: August 19, 2020, 01:11:56 AM
In general the Ban just takes effect. For one, the forum bares no responsibility for businesses people conduct on this public forum. That includes any debts someone is owed by members here.

In reality iirc, someone was given a day or so to send some PM's and sort some things out before they were temp banned for a week. This was a case of unsolicited PM's for business. Can't remember they may have had to make a request to do so.

There was a lender who found themselves in the spot you describe. Lucky for them someone deemed them to have contributed enough to the forum in their time to only warrant a 30 day Ban for plagiarism, which I believe got bumped up to a 60 later on. Fuzzy on those details. Either way they had someone else communicating for them, even tried to have them run their business until the thread was locked for the duration of their ban.

I have a Whatsminer M20S, that I am considering parting with. The only issue I ran into with it was after a restart it lost the Control Board Firmware. Solved the issue with an SD card. I believe it has a total runtime of about 8 months.

I haven't really given the sale much thought so feel free to reach out with an offer if you are interested.
436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [AMA] The Life of a Professional Gambler on: August 18, 2020, 02:13:47 PM
Solid answers, thanks for the insight. A few guys I work with have been glued to the Hockey games lately and listening to them got me thinking about this. They made similar comments to this.
The games itself are rather boring to watch and even the players look kind of bored at times. This non-atmosphere often gives you the impression of players not trying 100%; there seems to be no urgency, even if down 0-1 in the latter stages of a game. It's missing the (home) crowd to push the teams. In general I would say that these kind of artificial circumstances favour the more skilled teams.

I don't really follow many team sports so I really had no basis to go off. It made sense to me that without that stadium energy some might not be capable of mentally bringing their "A" game.
While Football/Basketball/F1 are on some regular schedule/rhythm, Cycling has a brutal schedule this year. They are doing inside 3 months, what they would normally do in 6+ months. Cycling is the hardest and most challenging sport imo and this super tight racing calendar will make for some super crazy results and good betting opportunities (hopefully).
This sounds insane, and likely to bring about more than a few injuries. I imagine the action will begin to get crazy somewhere around week 7, just a little past the midway point.  I don't follow anything with cycling but I imagine in a normal season, athletes attempt to participate in most if not all races in an attempt to qualify for whatever the Championship is.

Good luck finding the right spots.  Wink
437  Economy / Gambling / Re: #3 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) on: August 18, 2020, 02:02:25 PM
fI have told you before, SwC is a great place, they are amazing but you should have kept your cards open (pun intended) about the possibility to change places if there was a better offer on the table. Not like that should mean you do not like SwC or you are betraying them or anything like that, you are running a poker series on bitcointalk and I feel like you should be attached to bitcointalk and users here that join you more than the place that you are running it on.

Once again this doesn't mean SwC is bad or good, I am not saying anything about them at all, but to ask around to other places with poker and trying to get a much better deal can't be a bad thing, maybe you will not like the offers and continue with SwC in the end? That is what I was talking about, and now with this I think I am even more right.
There aren't really any/many other options that I'm aware of. So it's not like we just said here forever, but with sponsorship and when things were smoother it made no sense to look elsewhere. Prior to efialitis getting this going I had been reaching out to ACR in an attempt to set up private games for our group... never heard back.

Sportsbet was an option but the software they were using was like having someone flicking your ear at irregular intervals while another randomly unplugged your keyboard. They also won't have a poker client until 2021 iirc, while they weight their options.

Honestly if the series falls apart it would suck, but I'm sure we could find a way to reboot it down the road. If not a small cash game here and there might work out as well. Hard to say really.

~snip~
Hey thanks for trying, and putting in all the effort. No losers tournament can be rough for anyone who didn't make it but that lottery was a nice touch for helping with that. If it takes a while to hear back from them not a big deal. We'll take a breather and go from there.

Looking forward to the final this Sunday.
438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [AMA] The Life of a Professional Gambler on: August 16, 2020, 09:57:10 PM
Well now that live sports (no fans) have been back for a while, and with it live sports betting; I'm curious. How has it been? On paper I expect that most matches would have similar odds to what it would have been pre-pandemic, but I got to thinking about just how different games look. Not to mention the behind the scenes of practicing and out of game lifestyle for players.

Have you noticed or did you notice that there has been a major difference in teams and their performances, and/or that the odds on matches are a little skewed now or early on after the return. Any sports that were affected more so than others that you generally bet on?
439  Economy / Gambling / Re: #3 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) on: August 16, 2020, 07:46:00 PM
Saturday probably don't work for me but if it does for everyone else I'll just sit out, no biggie!
Stop being such a gem of a human.  Grin

Not gong to lie personally I would like to see the final stay on the original date in question. Last series I was in the middle of working night shifts and had requested something similar to no avail. So I sucked it up and made it work. This is sports( I know finals and whatnot)... I get it if people have tickets to go live or something but if the plan is to watch it on TV or something; i think we have to multitask.

I know I'm clear for Sunday can't confirm Saturday, so I'd have to check. Given it doesn't work for someone else already I'd say it's not a good idea to change it. Either way I'll make due as always and work with whatever is best for the group.
It was nice playing with everyone. Nice series, I did better this time, came close but not enough. Good luck to all finalists:
GG it was so close.
440  Economy / Gambling / Re: #3 Bitcointalk Poker Series (0.05 BTC & BIG BTC Ticket sponsored by SwC Poker) on: August 16, 2020, 07:21:29 PM
Lol. And I'm out. Followed behind FOMA the hand immediately after I believe. I think I opened, AKoff and they 3-bet me so I jammed. Hhampuz had TT for the second hand in a row and got themselves another knockout. I'm not salty as I was at least behind although it was a flip.

Funny he hit a straight but if he had hit a set again I could have made my straight.

Great game today.

Edit:
I am out! Steam won with ace on river, on river!
Isn't that where Aces live. GG today valiant effort.
