1421  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Miner Bros and Sesterce - Can you guys provide some reviews? on: July 31, 2019, 07:52:22 PM
You may want to check this out - Current List of Competitive Hardware - July 2019

This list covers pretty much every legit manufacturer going back to 2017. Some of them have gone under or just haven't put out gear in a while and can still be found in the OP. The listed gear is the most efficient offerings from each manufacturer. The links are good and lead you to the companies or their distributors. Canaan lists their distributors on their website based on the country you want to order from.

With the recent price run-up and low supply of new gear shipping out a lot of scam re-seller sites will pop up again. It costs like 10$ to throw together a legit looking site with chat support, I remember 2017/18 you couldn't search gear without being bombarded by scam offerings.
1422  Other / Meta / Re: The Russian locale needs a global moderator on: July 31, 2019, 01:34:26 PM
I think that to solve some questions requires knowledge of the Russian language and understanding of our mentality.

Speaking to this apart from Banning for Plagiarism it's a pretty high bar that needs to be set to receive a significant Ban. If it's trolling it has to be extreme. So the problem likely isn't anything to do with a lack of power local moderators wield. It likely comes down to the high bar set to receive the punishment your board feels some deserve. Also note that local customs and opinions do not deserve special consideration in a global forum about what is acceptable/unacceptable.

Thought I would carry over my post from the last call for a Russian specific Global Moderator as most was relevant.

As you well know, in our Russian-language section there are two respected and very adequate moderators but there is no administrators (who understand Russian). Therefore, all administrative issues such as "ban" and "unban", Russian-speaking users are forced to solve through English-speaking administrators.
I am assuming they speak english well enough to converse with and make an accurate case for anyone with the ability to Ban individuals. That's really all that is necessary until theymos either sees the need to add a global moderator or another Admin who is fluent in certain local boards. That may be a shallow pool of users and is not likely power he would chose to dole out to anyone just because they are the best of what's available at the moment.
Quote
This state of affairs leads to the fact that our Russian section regularly undergoes attacks from spammers and trolls, whose blocking issue is resolved for months.~snip~ korner ~snip~ celestials.
On the other hand, the user markiz73 ~snip~
This is no different than the rest of the forum. It's only recently that I've noticed appeals for users who are being banned for spamming. this is only happeneing because there are people actively tagging posts - some actively checking users post history and reporting from there when someone has a pattern of shitposting. Same goes for the plagiarism it's not easy for people to get a second chance; that's just life. The speed of getting caught also comes down to reporting their is a bot scraping most of the posts on the forum from what I can tell, and once again making reports. Report to moderator is all anyone can do, and local mods just have to escalate the case if they feel it warrants action - which doesn't guarantee admins will agree.
Quote
~snip~

Local moderators (xandry, Xal0lex) is very adequate but they have no right to ban/unban users. This is main problem when we deal with trolls and spammers or vice versa: when an useful user is auto-banned.

That's the same for all moderators apart from global mods from what I understand.
1423  Economy / Reputation / Re: Crypto832 - not quite a scammer, but a grifter on: July 30, 2019, 04:54:21 AM
he kept the mining rewards and did not pass it on to his end customer, I know because I am talking with his customer.
yes it was a separate sale

Okay so that to me says they scammed bigtimespaghetti. They lied to create the illusion they had been wronged and then took funds they knew they weren't entitled to. The amount doesn't matter not that 80$ is insignificant.

Never dealt with either of you but the chat logs do show your the sort of people I'd happily trade with.

I personally would support a scam flag on this user if bigtimespaghetti creates one. It has to be created by the party who was scammed. If you do create one this thread should work for the link and just update here that you created it and I'll support it when I can.
1424  Other / Meta / Re: [Feature Request] Personal Notepads on: July 30, 2019, 04:43:47 AM
I'm sure it would be helpful to people but I'm not sure how much of a priority it would be to theymos.

I was sort of hoping it would have been implemented by the time I woke up today but Mondays are tough.  Tongue

Definitely was just an idea I thought would be a cool feature for the forum at some point in time. I know we aren't anywhere near the adding and testing things out for convenience or utility, there are systems current and future that are far more pressing. I had considered the Pm option but am not to keen on a new PM for each addition. For now I'll just continue on as I have been doing using drafts and trying to manage a better "watchlist".

I do appreciate all the suggestions for workarounds. I really don't use a lot of online services like dropbox. I only started using imgur when I joined this forum so I could post an image.

Or just create a personal thread on the Archive board. I’m sure you can do and post all you want there.

This was a thought and something I believe I used to create one of my topics. The only issue I have with that is sometimes I may want the information to have at least the same personal privacy as a draft. Until I post or act on something no one really needs to be able to read the potential content or monitor what I'm interested in at the moment.

I'm pretty sure Theymos isn't willing to add in updates to the current iteration of Bitcointalk, besides security updates.~snip~ I don't think there's a need to complicate it a bit.

It's hard to say what sort of updates we might continue to see added, look at the merit system. I'm pretty sure New forum software has been on the books since before I was a member so we don't know how long we will be using this form. I'm not looking to complicate things just offering an opinion on a feature I think could improve the user experience, based on my usage.

I'm also as I said blissfully unaware of how much of an undertaking it would be to implement or whether it would be a drain on forum resources. There are plenty of unknowns I have no clue about that may make it not worth having.
1425  Economy / Reputation / Re: Crypto832 - not quite a scammer, but a grifter on: July 30, 2019, 03:35:30 AM
Well I wouldn't go so far as saying not a scammer. Up until reviewing your chat logs they seemed to have skirted the line and been more of a nuisance than anything. I would argue them coming after you for lost mining rewards is a scam in itself, unless I missed something here. They were never planning on receiving the gear or mining with it.

If they claim to have been doing so because their customer was demanding it, I see no difference. They didn't disclose that, they still passed it off as their lost mining rewards. Their customer could justifiably seek something like that given they paid a premium for the miner, doesn't mean you were responsible for reparations based on their deal.

Just want to make sure that I got it all straight though. This deal was separate from the bittawn sale from the other thread. Either way looks like 2 deals where there was some issue that had been addressed and actions taken or offered to make things right. Either way Crypto832 and alts are keeping true to form, spreading lies and wasting time.
1426  Other / Meta / [Feature Request] Personal Notepads on: July 29, 2019, 03:09:08 AM
What I'm looking for is just an on forum personal notepad with all the features of a post. I'm not sure how hard this is but it could serve the purpose of a better draft system for people creating original content or larger formatted posts. It could be a place to paste links to posts/topics or any other resource or reference you want to keep for the future. You get the point it's whatever you need it for, and it's a personal notepad. I know on a few occasions I've hated relying on the current draft system to reload a post I'm working on or going back through them to find the best format after trying several out and previewing. That's just one example, there's numerous posts or topics I like or reference I lose track of sometimes, it would be nice to have a list of links when I need them.

I bring this up because I personally use the forum from 3 devices and switch between them regularly. I'm sure I'm not the only one so this has the benefit of following my account wherever I log in so I can pick up where I left off. It would also be beneficial because it's there until you delete it, unlike a draft of any sort that is gone after 100 (previews, posts, messages). I get that it would take up forum resources and I don't really know how that works. If it's limited to the same capacity as a regular post, would it have the same impact as an account creating a single post? If not it could always be limited further, and I imagine there are many people who wouldn't see the utility in this feature for their forum use.
1427  Other / Meta / Re: Can I create two service thread? on: July 29, 2019, 02:54:16 AM
I'm guessing this is the service thread you want to duplicateCampaign and Community Management Service (Accepting IEO Token)

I'm pretty sure you will be okay having 2 Services threads. What I would do though is have them as 2 locked threads that link to 1 main service discussion thread. This way you are promoting your business and directing all conversation and traffic to 1 thread keeping things cleaner. You can still bump the other 2 threads daily following the guidelines. If nothing else have a heading worded slightly differently that is more specific to the board it is posted on such as Altcoin specific services for the Altcoin service thread.

I'm curious though how many threads do other similar services use to promote themselves or the business? If it's always been one then it may just be that you have to choose. I think most have 1 in the main Marketplace in Services or Service Announcements

According to the rules, it's not allowed:
Quote
12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting it in the local language boards if it's translated.)
But I've seen some services have threads in multiple boards, for example Freebitco.in have threads both in Micro Earnings and Gambling boards. So, maybe in some occasions exception to this rule can be made. So, before making new thread I suggest you to contact mods to get permission.

That's good advice to reach out to the mods. The rules do often leave exceptions available and the use of moderator discretion for certain situations.
1428  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hosting a single S9 economically? on: July 29, 2019, 02:08:11 AM
This here would be your best source for finding a hosting facility - Crypto Mining H/W Hosting Directory & Reputation

The S9's have had life brought back to them for the time being. They have a LP firmware available so if you bought these relatively cheap you might be able to become profitable. The problem with going this route at this time is shipping costs and potentially setup costs. This might negate the chance of profits because the S9 is already borderline for profits. Not sure what your power costs are at home but I would personally get these set up and mining today. Whether you want to solo it for a lottery or go with a pool and accumulate some guaranteed rewards; you have some research and decisions to make. You may want to check around the mining boards for more advice if you plan to keep them at home. Another bonus is in the winter you can run them at home to assist with the heating if you keep them on hand.

Here's some general reference then some more specific S9 related threads.
First time/Small miner reference for getting started.
main S9 thread
What to do with all the old s-9s. This is geared to making them a space heater - but by ignoring some of the mods and running 1 or 2 boards you can make the S9's work for your basement.

tag me cuz he sold a defective miner?

Right along the same advice I gave you about opening a scam accusation and presenting proof. That's again your story, and now we've heard the otherside. It's funny you never mentioned previously that you resold the miner - did you not check out the gear before sending it to the end customer?? Wouldn't that mean you then sold a miner with a burnt board?? Everything is always the fault of others when you are involved, at least moving forward people will have enough flags here to not deal with your nonsense.

Quote
( No clown my customer wanted to keep the miner he didnt buy a miner to get a refund he wanted the card that you sent bad on purpose replaced and you took it and dissapeared for many weeks.

I'm pretty sure the below quoted portion addresses your ranting.

I am currently working with the end customer and will make sure he is 100% satisfied, I am paying him for all lost mining rewards while we RMA the defective board. the end user will loose NOTHING.
He has said he will give me his support on bitcointalk, please stay tuned.
I also have transcripts between me and jrc209 / Crypto832, they are pure entertainment, anyone who reads them for 5 minutes will know what type of a person jrc209 / Crypto832 is, A Narcissistic, arrogant, ignorant, mentally unhinged dickhead.

1431  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: People expecting collateral for all loans on: July 29, 2019, 01:12:28 AM
You are delusional. The only people giving out loans as you describe operate out of a booth in the back of a bar, and the collateral is your continued good health. Lending isn't a charity, it's a service. Considering people expect interest rates below 3% generally a lender could see their entire earnings wiped out if 1 deal out of 33 goes bad. Hard to understand why they want you to put something of value up before lending you anything. They really are doing people a favor in the end by allowing them to not liquidate their collateral - usually coins people are hoping will appreciate in value - and still receive the funds they need at that time. Then here's where the risk still comes into play; what if the coin/token tanks and the lender is unable to recoup their entire principal.

The loans and credit given irl are tied to you through banking and government documentation. You may not realize it but the collateral in those cases is your Fiat financial future, don't kid yourself. Seeing as you like the business model so much you should jump into lending, maybe even no-collateral loans seeing as you see the need. I will point out there are some already offering this service to those they feel comfortable lending to.
1432  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [wts] fusion silicon x2 [w] $3000 inc shipping on: July 28, 2019, 07:38:16 PM
Now here is something that makes sense and sounds like the crypto832 we've come to know and avoid. I had been thinking and assumed that they figured out you were going to be away and decided to try and stir shit up without anyone responding.

I guess you can take solace in the fact that no one believed them. It's not much but it's something. I would definitely tag them for the slanderous behaviour. The more examples of their behaviour the better
1433  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whatsminer m21s arrives this sat the 27th of July on: July 28, 2019, 09:52:37 AM
Nice I knew you planned to spread out your gear purchases, but didn't know you were looking at the 21's. Nice to see Whatsminer is starting to launch units with working LPM, ideally this will role out for the other models soon. While nothing special at low power costs they are definitely viable, might be a nice unit to host with Pangolin for some if that service pans out. Keep the shipping and import costs down.

This sells for 1900
The m21s sells for 2800 -  ***I think you mean the M20S ***

1435  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain gears will be available on their website in a few hours (24-7-2019) on: July 24, 2019, 03:05:14 AM
If these sell out as fast as they have in the past at these prices, then people are fomoing over gear. No logic to jumping in on these items at that price. Really just set the bar for career resellers when they receive their July August batches.
1436  Economy / Reputation / Re: Random use of positive (green) trust on: July 23, 2019, 10:34:25 PM
This still doesn't necessarily mean that the positive trust is inappropriate here. If after their dealings the impression they are left with is that they are unlikely to scam anyone then the positive is warranted. The new system is just more inline with the way people used the old system - opinion based.
1437  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: .1 BTC Raffle 32/32 spots available - .00345 BTC/Spot on: July 23, 2019, 10:18:39 PM
Yeah I think you may be right. I preferred the idea of just holding mini lotteries as opposed to something physical and dealing with shipping it out. Who knows though I do have a few things kicking around I could load and try to raffle off. No big deal I tried.
1438  Other / Meta / Re: why are more posts deleted in this few days? on: July 23, 2019, 09:45:44 PM
I think the Pharmacist has it right, there's at least one member who will go through your post history if they notice that they are reporting multiple posts of yours. Might even be a few more with all the data tracking going on. Best thing to do now is take an honest look at your posts and maybe ask yourself this before that next post.

1) Does this topic have more than 3 pages? If yes does it warrant or support more discussion? If yes go to #2
2) Have I read more than just the OP/Title and the last response? If yes move to 3, if not read the topic then proceed to #3
3) Review your post. Is it redundant (has it been posted or discussed already)? Does it contribute to the overall discussion on topic? If yes go to 4, If no delete and continue to browse.
4) If you are sure that your post can contribute in some way and isn't just words on a screen post it and help drive real discussion.

Edit: 3 pages is just used as an example.

That’s interesting!  When the luck was low even in the big pools it has been around 70% until around the 20th.  Then it has jumped to about 130% and that’s when you hit a block here!  Like the luck is same for all!  Roll Eyes

In theory the luck should be the same for all over time. The difference comes down to % of the total reward shared - fees. One thing I have noticed if I'm not wrong is that we are on the cusp of becoming a pool that doesn't expect a block every retarget period. I think right now we expect 1 every ~16 days. Given we have some transient hashrate we seem to swing above and below that right now, hopefully we can attract some more permanent hash.
