1301  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Sr. Member loan defaulted 0.009 BTC (SportbetMaster) on: September 21, 2019, 04:31:40 AM
I supported the flag. Please update this thread if any attempt is made to repay you. I noticed it's been about a month since the default, did they reach out at all?
1302  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet..Paypal..No Bank Account on: September 21, 2019, 03:10:30 AM
Hey there, first ignore the users whose answers you don't like. Getting angry using Caps and going at them will likely only cause other members to decide you aren't worth helping.

So I don't know the country you live in, not surprisingly this makes a huge difference in what you can do. I had a few people point out a couple of different services to me, I haven't had a chance to test. Like this one Coincards.ca - Again I haven't used them but had them recommended to me. Some are digital codes and what not allowing you to turn your BTC to nearly cash if you know some stores you plan to spend a few 1000 like groceries, gas and whatnot.

Apart from that check out the marketplace. Look for trusted members check feedback and use an escrow. People will be willing to deal with you but you will likely need to send the BTC to the escrow/purchaser first as you have no Rep here.

If you are okay with it tell us your country, then people can really narrow it down for you. Also what currency of PP funds are you looking for?

1304  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WhatsMiner M20 to be delayed 2-3 weeks on: September 21, 2019, 01:51:47 AM
Yeah I'm just going off my experience with the M20S that was nearly a month late. Right before gear pricing went up and delivery went long; they offered to sell me my next gear at a discount. I believe I had one chance to maybe take them up on this offer, but by the time they got back to me to confirm the time had passed. This is definitely a different situation with a larger order, so I would imagine they should try and do something to accomodate, I doubt it will be a refund, just a deal next time.

Kind of annoying they haven't updated their telegram group with this information.
1305  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WhatsMiner M20 to be delayed 2-3 weeks on: September 20, 2019, 09:00:28 PM
Start messaging them for compensation. It won't be much but you should be able to receive something. Starting the conversation now at least gives you an idea of where things are going.
Odds are though it will just be a promise to give you a deal in the future.
1306  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Going to my first meetup on: September 20, 2019, 01:56:04 PM
Just a quick update, Glad to see this did go the route of decent discussion.
So I made it to the meetup, about 10 minutes late. Nothing better than walking into a room of strangers late, a dozen sets of eyes fixed on you. That's where the awkwardness ended, everyone was friendly made some space and carried on business as usual from what I could tell.
Overall just a group of people talking about all manner of projects, they are either interested in or invested in. Found out there was an attempt at hosting a conference in my Province that has been postponed until June of next year. Met a couple more BTC oldtimers, who had some interesting tales to share.

All in all it was a good time. I'll keep trying to get out to some of these but the bi-weekly meetings but could possibly swing one every 6 weeks or so. It is about a 5 hour round trip, but this stretched into a 3 1/2 hour hangout and chat which was nice. It was good to meet up with some like-minded people and hear some of the different perspectives on things.

I'll read through again later and respond to any questions I missed, when I wake up this evening.

Edit:
What do you expect? Unless you have some project crypto related that you would like to promote, or join, I don't see much of a reason to participate in those meetings. Maybe if someone interesting is going there, such as Vitalik or Antonopoulos or whatever..
Honestly me and crypto reminds me of when I was a skater in my teens and moved to the country. No one cared what I kickflipped, dropped or slid. The internet is great for connecting people but lacks the actual connections. Sometimes on the forum I find it difficult to still treat people like a human being, this way I find it helps with the listening and being open to new ideas. Mostly I'm not the kind of guy to cut you off mid sentence and tell you how stupid your idea is. It's easier to listen for a while and discuss then move on.

where do people find ads for meetups? is there a board/website dedicated to this? the bitcointalk meetup board seems pretty dead.

Meetup.com if you live in any mid-to-large city, or facebook, if you have an account there it might pop up into your suggestions somewhere if fb knows enough about you. Although it must be noted that at this point most meetups you're likely to find aren't going to be exclusively about Bitcoin, often it's about 'blockchain', or cryptocurrencies/tokens in general.

Pretty much nailed it. I just googled crypto meetup and the city name. That's how I found this one on meetup.com, as well as the other one lol. So my advice is to message the admin if you can to make sure it's still on.
1307  Bitcoin / Meetups / Going to my first meetup on: September 19, 2019, 03:27:52 PM
So after tonight I will hopefully have attended my first Bitcoin meetup, well all crypto likely. It's in nearest large city about 2 hours away and it's taken me nearly 2 years to make it in for 1.

I made a decision about 4 months ago to go to a different groups meetup and that was a mistake. It was more mining focused but they cancelled, left the event advertised, and wasted a good deal of my time lol.

I don't reallly know what to expect, the organizer is actually the guy who sold me my first hardware, always had a good chat with him. So i'm hoping for more or the same.

I'll update on how it goes. Figured I would share, let me know if you've ever attended these types if events, what it was like, the good and the bad
1308  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 76 Whatsminer M20s 68T - Brand New on: September 17, 2019, 05:21:40 PM
Not a problem everybody was new here at one point. There isn't a long list of Marketplace specific rules, but here's the Pinned message. I imagine your personal gear you are selling should all go in 1 thread, as it's reasonably similar. Then definitely a separate thread for any business related sales makes sense. I can't remember where I read it, but iirc you can also have a duplicate sales thread in the Altcoin Marketplace. It's definitely not as organised as this board but it's another option for visibility.
1309  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 300 s17 Pro 50T - Ships from US end of September on: September 16, 2019, 11:01:14 PM
I trust @sAj1420
I can vouch for sAj1420, we have done some business in the past and he is legit.
Thanks!

It will probably help them more if you leave feedback to that effect. Positive or neutral whatever work for you, but at least it will be visible and follow them through the forum.
1310  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 76 Whatsminer M20s 68T - Brand New on: September 16, 2019, 10:57:40 PM
Hey there, Welcome and good luck with your sales. I noticed in the other thread you mentioned you were new here so I though I'd offer some advice. I'm guessing you broker a lot of hardware similar to offordscott and kaboomracks, as you have 3 sales threads up at the moment. To help reduce the clutter in the Marketplace Brokers are asked to keep it limited to 1 sales thread, you can also maintain a Service [ANN] thread for more visibility.

Here are some resources you can check out to get an idea of how you want to set it up. [Template] for Brokers or Market type sellers - Not a sale thread

See offordscotts threads as another example. My name is Scott Offord. I'm a broker of ASIC mining equipment (new and used).

1311  Economy / Reputation / Re: Roger Ver why is he red trusted? on: September 16, 2019, 07:29:16 PM
I'm an avid watcher of Roger Ver's bitcoin channel and he was talking about bitcointalk forum and how his old threads have him labeled as a scammer.
I don't remember Roger actually ever stealing money from anyone, I don't think he deserves those red marks.
His negative feedback doesn't label him a scammer. What it does is show a warning banner to unregistered users if they look at old sales threads created by Roger. It only goes as far to say one or more users believe him to be a scammer, and serves as a general warning applied to many accounts that receive negative feedback.

The feedback itself is justified as that's Nutildah's thoughts on the matter, which are shared by a large number of people out there. If you care enough you can dig deeper into how the trust system here works. If you are referring to people just flatout calling him a scammer in threads, he's very pro freedom of speech and opposed to heavy moderation; so I imagine that is welcomed by him. Again that is all open to how people perceive his actions, if it were wrong or even overly contentious it would bring about a good discussion and not so much a long line of people with the same impression.

His reputation itself is his own doing. When you consciously and actively use double-speak to present a convoluted argument to rookies and newbs ultimately leaving them less informed and confused; what do you expect.

If someone buys BTC thinking it is "Bitcoin, a peer to peer electronic cash system" they are being scammed.

I rewrote this. This comment is off-topic but made me think. This is where you went wrong, and a lot of projects do. You removed yourself from an environment where your ideas for change would have been challenged and may have even been reformed. Instead you chose to surround yourself with other like minded individuals and used a marketing machine to promote you agenda. If you had continued to discuss and listen, you might have found a way to deliver a product the world needed instead of attempting to usurp a title. I'm not the one to debate you on the networks or the inner workings of crypto, it goes well beyond my fundamental understanding. I like yogg's advice come back and have open discussions with people, it can make a world of difference.

Personally I initially held you in a high regard, and followed a lot of what you were saying. This was because in 2017 as a newbie fresh as can be I followed into sites like bitcoin.com, and hey this dude has done a lot been around for a long time. I mined with your pool, was checking out the forum really followed the path.  Here I am trying to figure out wallets and addresses, keys and understand the fundamental differences between coins. Now I have a personality that I was trusting intentionally spreading a false narrative. Hey I was buying into it, how could one not when you don't know what information is legit. I was making enough rookie mistakes of my own at the time, but you helped me realize the worst. I was taking a man shilling his project at his word. I guess I should thank you for that as it probably saved me later on.  I don't care that you have an altcoin, I don't care that you want to piggyback off the Bitcoin (BTC) BTC name, but stop trying to force your will upon the world 1 newbie at a time, and own your project for what it is.
1312  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Learn from my mistake (load balancing) on: September 16, 2019, 06:27:52 PM
Just came across this. Man glad that's the worst thing that came of this. I know it shouldn't happen again but might want to start thinking of playing with a wider safety margin, especially after I read these 2 statements lol
so that's more or less 9*S9s per phase or 28 S9s in total.
*snip*
" the burnt one" had already 10 gears on it , and I added 2 more S9E to it,
Now I assume you thought you were adding to a line with 7 or less getting to a total of 9. Hopefully things remain stable for as long as your power deal stays in play. How long do you generally have to wait to get the repairs done on the panel?
1313  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 3 of my miners failed the same day on: September 16, 2019, 06:09:08 PM
You might get a decent diagnosis here, but don't waste any time, get your RMA started with Bitmain if that's still an option. It will only drag out if you wait before getting it started. How long were they running before the failure? Sometimes cables come loose in transport so if something isn't seated right it could be reading as dead. I've had minimal exposure to Bitmain gear, but in the past I would lose a chain and not the entire board if there was suspect chip.
1314  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Quiet [36 dB, 8 THs/500 W] Hotmine Convector Miner. Product Overview on: September 13, 2019, 10:41:59 PM
Nice that's a good time to have some products available for launch. I'll reach out this weekend but as I'm entering my cold season I would be interested in seeing one of these in action.
1315  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What and why? When your pool begins to fall behind. on: September 13, 2019, 12:25:50 PM
Your concern is valid, I have made my decision a long time ago when I decided to take mining as a business and not just a hobby, therefore, it only makes sense to mine at large pools, I tried almost all large/mid pools and found out that recently and for now viabtc with pps+ option is the best for me, when and if I grow my hashrate to a good extent whereby I get to the point that my hasharate will really help a small pool hit block in a very reasonable time frame then all of this could change, but since this is not the case now I rather be on the safe side.
Yeah I'm still no where near looking at it like a business, but it's the same none the less. When I got into this I made the choice to mine for my BTC instead of outright buying. I've rolled mostly everything right back into gear and am now looking to accumulate. So for now I've moved about 80% of my hashrate. Still doing PPLNS, and large enough to have a fairly consistent reward. For my size the more than double pool fee is something I can live with.
I don't ever expect to be big enough to make a consistent impact on a pool. It would just be nice to see a wider range of smaller options.
So  selling off my piece of the farm  getting all my taxes corrected for 2018 and 2019  will take until 2020 oct or nov.
Wow, really considering getting completely out of mining? Even for a year I'm surprised.
1316  Other / Meta / Re: Trust flags on: September 13, 2019, 08:49:48 AM
That is flawed logic.

If someone makes an agreement and the other party is going to gain from that agreement and then breaks that agreement (without a valid legal reason)  and does not compensate for the loss of profit - then there is a loss.

It is irrelevant that the person who made the agreement had no intention of completing it. It is reasonable to assume that the customer will proceed with the contractual terms when a contract is made. The seller had no control over the customers decision to scam.

I could say the same about your logic, as we have a difference of opinion. I'm not; I just don't agree that performing the normal tasks to run a safe and secure business count as damages. Shasan runs a lending service and has taken this responsibility upon themself to protect their investment while earning from this. Part of that is thwarting scam attempts, so all this person really did was test Shasans security and provide experience.

You can't really claim wasted time when on the clock for your business. So again with no damages this deserves feedback and a newbie warning flag.
1317  Economy / Service Discussion / Shakepay - Buy/Sell BTC and ETH using CAD on: September 13, 2019, 06:55:01 AM
I recently got around to using Shakepay - https://shakepay.co/, they have little to no presence here so I thought a discussion thread was in order. Starting off with a few general details about them.

  • You have to register and perform KYC - There is the ability to auto-verify
  • Buy and Sell BTC or ETH
  • Fund your account with CAD using Email Money Transfer or Wire Transfer
  • No fees on the trade, funding or withdrawal
  • They have a referral program - 10$ for both parties if they buy 100$ in crypto

My personal experience is pretty funny. I failed the auto-verification, it was based on your profession and it was a limited list. I then must have submitted a blurry photo when doing the manual verification because that part failed. I then stopped trying for months because I believe at the time I was trying to sell some coin and found another method. Fast forward a few months to last week, I resubmitted a photo and was approved without issue.

I used the EMT for funding my account and it was instant. Took a matter of seconds to buy my BTC and the withdrawal to my wallet was smooth. I will definitely be using it again. When I used it I had to use the App for my purchase, but they have updated the website and you can do it online as well apparently. I haven't tried it out yet.

My downsides are that they do not offer the ability to buy or sell a small amount of crypto without KYC. I would also like to see another coin or two added to the list of trade-able cryptos.

Feel free to PM me if you want to use my referral for the 10$, or find someone you know using Shakepay and use theirs. Which is what I should have done

1318  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Publicly Traded Mining Company on: September 13, 2019, 01:14:34 AM
It's been a while since I looked into them, but came across them a few times over the last year, once when I was fishing for hashrate to join a pool. This whole traded company stuff is new to me there but is surprising to see since they are already large established and showing profitability. In regards to their price to mine a BTC that seems fairly legit for a couple of reasons. Most of their gear is likely already reached the point of ROI, so now there is minimal cost apart from general facility maintenance and utility charges. Here's where it gets really interesting, in certain areas of Canada it's not hard to find Electric rates of .04-.06 USD and those are the advertised rates to the public a large facility can generally cut that down a bit.

Those numbers will be taking a hit though soon, as hashrate is back on the climb. It did just cross my ind that they may be looking for investors to try and upgrade their gear anticipating the hashrate increases and preparing for the halvening. Can't say I'd have the stones to run an operation this large (but still small by comparison) looking into that future.
1319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080ti and 1070ti altcoin mining on: September 12, 2019, 03:06:24 AM
yea its been a while since i used miningpoolhub (spring 2018)...it looks like they havent kept up to date with the latest coins and thus dont have the most profitable coins.
About the same time then lol. Yeah I moved my rig to a mine and hold pattern, as opposed to guaranteed daily profit. So I'm way out of the loop on profit switching pools, that childboard should prove helpful though. Good luck sorting out your mining.
1320  Other / Meta / Re: Appealing ban for Sharon on: September 12, 2019, 03:01:33 AM
This is just a guess, but I'm going to go with Ban Evasion. Iirc you hit the ground running when you joined the forum, some even accused you of being an Alt of a better known member at the time. You are very active so are clearly aware of plagiarism and it's punishment, and with the launch of the Bot you likely scrubbed your post history if it contained plagiarism.
What has changed though is that accounts are monitored for suspicious activity to some extent I've been expecting more Ban evaders to be caught since then; maybe it's starting to take place.

While I love your first post and wish more newbies could say this
"First thing I did was use the search the forum rules I wouldn't want to fall on the wrong side of it
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 it's quite plain and straight forward and would give my all to stick to it. And also the post from Lauda was loud enough https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1689727.0"

It lends further to the likelihood of Ban Evasion. Either way you seem to have done well for yourself, all you can do is to plead your case and follow the appeal process.
