501  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC power on: March 09, 2024, 05:02:22 AM
The problem is that when you only do one of that, you're not going to see yourself getting any kind of success because one's supposed to work with the other, what I mean is that while you're waiting for your investments to grow, it's a good idea to distract yourself from the waiting game by getting yourself busy with work, that way you've got your mind preoccupied with other stuff besides that investment, see in my explanation that if you don't have the other, you'll never be able to find some more money for yourself because you've fallen for the trap of choosing just one, it's really easy to choose both because the other investment doesn't need that much maintenance besides the occasional buys for accumulation and just selling when the price you like to sell your investments is finally there.
502  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dont sell because you feel like selling, give it another thought. on: March 09, 2024, 03:08:12 AM
Yes, I will say it again and again! Don't sell because you want to sell, or maybe others are selling, and if you feel you have made some profit, then you must sell. My dear, give it a second thought. If you don't have a genuine reason for selling, like a deep need for money, or if you want to sell to buy luxurious things when you know that the price of bitcoin has more potential than what it has shown,.
I can understand what you're saying and I somehow get your advice of not selling immediately or for a small profit but I have to disagree with you on the part about selling because they need the money, if the word is need then there's probably a good reason why they're planning on selling, you can't really dictate anyone what they want to do with their money after all. Regards to luxurious things, that could depend, remember that you've got a right to be happy as a person and that you don't have to worry too much about investments so if you're not going bankrupt with that luxurious stuff then go for it. Don't be a slave to your money and investments, you don't have to wait for retirement to do stuff and enjoy life, you should do it along the way and it's more fun that way.
503  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: March 09, 2024, 01:40:00 AM
What's your take on this? Given the period we're in is it buy time or sell time?
My take on this kind of situation is that, they've got no goals and so they end up not having any plans and they just sell whenever they want to which is bad because that's the likely thing to happen to someone when they don't have any goal, they wander around aimlessly. Best solution is depending on what you're invested into, you should set a goal where you will sell your cryptocurrency, if it's an altcoin, don't be too ambitious and aim for a really high price increase, set a percentage or a concrete number like if you bought altcoin A at 0.1 USD apiece, you should consider a 50% growth as your limit so you sell that altcoin or you could do a number like if altcoin A becomes 0.2 USD apiece then you'd sell but you have to make sure that your goal would be feasible, depending on your research and sentiments on that cryptocurrency you're investing into, that would dictate how much you would hold on to that cryptocurrency.

Now with bitcoin it's a different story because bitcoin is definitely an appreciating asset and a blue chip cryptocurrency meaning that if you're patient enough, you're guaranteed to have a profit, if you're invested in bitcoin, you'd get away with setting an ambitious price goal, make it 200k USD hell maybe even 500k USD, there's no limit, just make sure that in all of this, you afford only what you can afford to lose even if you're doing DCA.
504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you avoid some games because of racism? on: March 08, 2024, 09:25:42 AM
There's probably a committee or a board that will oversee this issue and I think that most people that would commit such heinous acts of racism is in my opinion handled pretty quickly and with heavy punishment and most of these racist incidents in sports are going to be detrimental to the revenue of the league, take NBA as a hypothetical example, when there's a blatant racism that's happening in the court and at the same time it's not being punished by any means, a lot of people would probably be turned off with what's happening and the act of not dealing with it would lead to less people watching the games and with less people buying tickets to watch the games, the revenue of the league would be affected and they either tolerate racism and have less money until they become a small league if not bankrupt or deal with it and let the people know that racism isn't tolerated in any way, shape or form in the league and the offenders would be faced with heavy fines and suspensions if not full termination.
505  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 🥧 Bitcointalk Pie Baking Contest - 2nd edition 🥧 on: March 08, 2024, 08:47:14 AM
Hello, a friend of mine offered me a new plat à tartes. For this occasion I also made an object to sprinkle lightly with cinnamon. It was really hard to make a beautiful B ... In any case, the pie tastes very good  Cheesy

I admit I almost posed with the pie and a BTC T-shirt to get more votes, but in the end it would have been too unfair to the male participants  Grin
Definitely looks appetizing and even though I'm not a fan of pies or desserts like that (I love me some cake  Grin), that looks good enough to me that I won't mind trying that, you also should've done that, even if you think it's unfair, these people aren't going to distracted easily, they'll probably stick to their criteria, regardless of the gender, just make sure to hide your face or any tattoos (if you have any) that would identify you in person. It's still a privacy oriented forum so keep that in mind.
506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABLE CRYPTOCURRENCY on: March 08, 2024, 08:02:58 AM

You've indeed point out a valid point. that is the source of consumption isn't the issue but rather the source of power. As the world keeps emerging there should be a call for renewable energy
Then that means that I'm right, that bitcoin doesn't have anything to do with all this problems. Because if it did then people would be saying it even the miners that are directly involved in bitcoin mining would be saying about their impact if they've got any. I think we all should start not blaming anything or anyone, we should probably start doing something about how we get those energy, that's the simple solution to what you're trying to protest about, utilizing the renewable energy is probably the best choice here if you want, or you could also go nuclear energy route, that could power a civilization. But those solutions, they're not that easy to be implemented because they're going to need resources to build and a government and people that supports that kind of project.
507  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The rate of divorce in the society on: March 08, 2024, 07:29:36 AM
That just means that people are now aware that you can leave the marriage if it's toxic and you don't have any love for your husband or wife anymore, divorce is a beautiful thing to be there because it gives the option that someone can get out of a marriage that would destroy you inside out and even though I have some reservations about divorce being used by gold diggers to scam rich men or women into getting half of what they've worked hard for, I still think that this kind of thing is necessary because it helps protect the women and men that are victims of emotional and physical abuse in the household, with divorce, they've got a bullet against these people that are doing them harm. It should also be a good thing for everyone also that with the advent of more people getting divorce, you also should be considering to get your prenuptial going, that way you're not going to be a victim of gold diggers that wouldn't show their true intentions early on in the marriage.
508  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The American primary election. on: March 08, 2024, 06:56:32 AM
The recent news of the Biden administration flying illegal immigrants into the country is grounds for treason in my opinion. He’s actively aiding in the invasion of the United States. The guy should be defending himself from being convicted and punished for treason, not running for another term. Anyone dumb enough to vote for him should be forced to live in a sanctuary city.
Even if he is convicted, there's not a lot of years left to litigate Old Joe so in the mean time, he'll do what he thinks is the right thing to further his agenda, dude can't even walk on the stairs without some help, I don't think that he's got a lot of life left in him. It's not their fault that these "dumb" voters are voting for these prune of a human being, they've got no choice and are too scared to fight the party that makes this system rigged from the start, if people starts siding with their other countrymen, they're definitely going to see some changes if it's not Republican vs Democrat anymore and it's People vs the Oppressive State and the Big Companies, we would see radical changes and it's going to be an ugly change but once the people push through it and they're able to make it through the process, USA would probably see a golden age.
509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you ready to join DeFi on Bitcoin? on: March 08, 2024, 06:04:16 AM
I don't think I'll ever be ready for anything that will congest the bitcoin network, I would definitely love the innovations but at the expense that I've got to pay premium amount of money just to move my transactions isn't something that I've signed up for when I invested in bitcoin but I've tolerated it and now here it is, with all the inscriptions and ordinals that are flooding the network and making the transactions for other people to go slow I don't believe that DeFi is going to be a really big deal to me even if they say that bitcoin's going to go up in prices when this happens, I don't think that I'd take that bargain.
510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 24 march 2024 : final verdict for SBF. Did you lose funds ? on: March 08, 2024, 05:26:37 AM
FTX came out of nowhere under the guise that their CEO was such a brilliant trader that he made billions trading Bitcoin and started the world’s biggest exchange seemingly overnight. It didn’t pass the sniff test from day 1 and that’s why I never had an account. Pretty much any entity willing to pay you an interest rate on Bitcoin to store your funds is a scam. Nobody can promise interest on Bitcoin because it is a limited resource. As the saying goes, if you don’t know where the yield comes from, you are the yield.
If you wanted to really lie and deceive people in the first place, you'd already got the plan to steal the money of many people and of course it would be a part of your plan to lie to them and make them think that you're a legitimate one and that you're not going to run with their money, that's how many charlatans and thieves of the largest scale would do it though, they make you let your guard down by building trust and then in one fell swoop, your money's gone. People should've made some questions already when the talks of bitcoin giving out interests are being talked about, that would've made them uncomfortable and most likely some of those people would likely pick up on it when it was raised as a question but it seems that nobody did and they end up with their money being stolen, I guess the allure of profits from your bitcoin is just too strong that people didn't question the red flags.
511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in healthcare on: March 08, 2024, 03:50:42 AM
Applying blockchain technology to the healthcare sector is something that I have read about, I think but it's not that mainstream. I'm not really sure. I think it could improve some of the old technology that the healthcare industry has and I believe that it can be of help.

In terms of BTC, maybe acceptance of payment? IDK how BTC could help as it is or something.
You can probably use blockchain technology to create a medicine cabinet system that can't be tampered with, you know how there are shady hospitals there that are doing over the counter or smuggling of some opiates to some drug addicts or to sell on the streets, when there's no way to tamper with the drugs that are getting in and getting out of the system, it's actually much easier to track down what's happening and there's less people that are doing drugs because the supply is running dry, another potential use would be records for patients since there's no way to tamper then the records would be faked since each patient record is supposed to be unique or something, there's a lot of things that you can do with bitcoin in healthcare, many industries can benefit or use the technology too although it wouldn't be bitcoin itself most of the time, more like the technology that bitcoin uses or is from that they can get inspiration from.
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABLE CRYPTOCURRENCY on: March 08, 2024, 03:00:40 AM
It's not the power consumption of bitcoin that's the problem, it's the power source that's the problem, if we continue to rely on fossil fuels and heavy polluting energy sources, the issue would still be there even if you remove bitcoin out of the equation, the power consumption of a civilization will always continue to go up because there's more people around and resources that needs to be created and those require energy so even if we say that we are ramping in energy consumption, pollution would still be a problem, another thing about this argument about cryptocurrency being a problem for the environment is that it's just a scapegoat, a way to distract us from the real problems that we're facing and it doesn't really give us any results even if we regulate cryptocurrency's power consumption, most bitcoin mines aren't reliant on fossil fuels already, some of them got a set up for a solar energy or wind energy.
513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Contributing to the network on: March 08, 2024, 01:58:41 AM
As @ABCbits have already said, you don't have to force yourself to do some contributions, if you want to contribute somehow, maybe donating to those developers can help or do what @Kruw suggested, do the tests for those devs so they can easily check out the problems since there's other testers that would report the problems to them. Or you can contribute by being a philanthropist, helping your community by donating books that was bought using bitcoins, donating to your local library is a big help too or helping fund some students' education so they can go to college or have the education that they deserve. There's a lot of ways that you can contribute too, you just have to broaden your horizons OP.
514  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Unusual Story that Reflects the Current Gambling Addiction Reality on: March 07, 2024, 09:26:17 AM
When people don't take your kindness seriously, halting it can be the best option. The problem is critical, and the man still persists on using his personal account to receive the money from a stranger, who is willing to help. If he was in need of the help, forwarding his wife's account number wouldn't have been a hassle to him. Maybe he has other intentions for the money, and the man, the helper, may have experienced similar things in his philanthropic journey. The man, whom his wife is sick, wasn't tagged a gambler, it's safe to say that the philanthropist, has sent money to people who didn't utilize properly in solving their problems. Addicted gamblers can go extra miles to convince others to give them money. Everyone is working hard to stay ahead of trouble or being the reason to someone else's hardship. Imagine being the reason why an addict went back to continue gambling after losing out on all his money. The man in need, acted suspiciously that was why he ran away.
As much as I like to follow the sage's wisdom of being kind no matter what happens, there should be a limit to the kindness that you're giving to a person that has a problem and that they're abusing your kindness to fuel what addiction they have, it's not logical or wise at that point to ever help someone if the help that you're giving to them isn't appreciated and only furthers their addiction. The wrong thing that the philanthropist did here is not that he helped but that he didn't put in a bit more effort into follow up and being stern about the help and that it should went to where it should went. Totally agree on that extra miles though, that's what addiction does to you, you try your best to find ways to enable and maintain/sustain your addictions, that's why they get desperate and lead to do a life of crime because they're losing all the options on how to suffice that addiction.
515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best way to go about making a crypto casino. on: March 07, 2024, 08:31:49 AM
That question is going to difficult to exactly pinpoint the right answer because how you will operate is going to be varying per country, some countries have a relaxed gambling laws in place and other countries have a really strict if not iron grasp gambling laws. But if you want to start now, I think that it's a good idea for you to have enough funds to make it real, there's also the manpower and depending on where you're going to do your business, you're going to spend a lot of money for labor but if I'm being frank, you're better off building your own online casino because you just need really good programmers to make your casino operational unlike with a physical that needs manual labor, real estate, building permits and many other bureaucratic things, online casinos are much easier to make, that's why we've got a lot of them all over the Internet.

Now that you've got your casino, it's time for your advertisements and branding, you're going to need to be able to find the right name for your casino, it should be a combination of unforgettable and attractive, when it comes to advertisements, just do a promotion for your first 100 customers, free rolls for new accounts, bonus spins and many other stuff, casinos don't really operate in TV advertising so don't do that, bombard the Internet with your ads by paying top dollar to show it everywhere, pay Google ads to put you in the first place of the search results, do some SEOs.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: March 07, 2024, 07:41:49 AM
~

Although Rogan always has the habit of exaggerating things, I can agree that Ngannou really has to most powerful punch and it's no wonder he knocked down Fury and it wasn't even his full swing. If it was, Fury may not have stood back up again. The Dana speaking right there I think was before Ngannou asked for his freedom to fight in boxing.

Once Ngannou achieves this win,  a lot more fights that Ngannou will face before Fury will ever give him the rematch. The bright side is he will get millions.

The fact that the scale of his punches was the power of a full force semi truck going towards you is a testament of how strong Ngannou is, I still think that his knockdown on Fury was a win but boxing federation is corrupt. Totally agree with you about the result of the win, more boxers will definitely try their hands against Ngannou and he's going to be getting a payday when this happens, on the alternate that he loses, he'd probably still find some fights but definitely not that spectacular. Another thing that can probably make him sell more fights and rake in more cash is probably through showmanship, make the fight look good on camera and for the spectators, drag it as much as possible and beautifully and he'll definitely find some more fights.
Wow! So only around 39% here voted for AJ to win. Around 69% is looking for Ngannou's victory this weekend. I wonder if you guys already took the juicy odds on Ngannou.
Ngannou's a power puncher so I don't think that it's a no-brainer why they(including me) choose Ngannou. I haven't bet anything yet but tomorrow, I might do it but my money's on Ngannou. AJ's only way out of this one is to knockout Ngannou or tire him out since he's a bigger guy.
517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Monte Carlo fallacy on: March 07, 2024, 06:49:54 AM
~

I play heads or tails. It never happened in the history of the game that the outcome will always be heads. There are only two possible outcomes, and it's impossible that tails will never come out in the entire duration of the game. That's why whenever the result has been heads for the past 8 or 10 consecutive tosses, it is expected that the bettors would be heavily betting on the tails. The basis may be fallacious or logical, but if they take into consideration that never has it happened that tails never comes out, then I guess that isn't a fallacy.

I also bet on cockfighting and the same is true. It is either the favorite or the underdog. But never has it happened that in the entire derby only the favorite wins. That's impossible.
Just because someone believes it to be true and that it's impossible that it can never happen, doesn't discount the fact that gambler's fallacy is a fallacy, just because they take it into consideration doesn't mean that it will suddenly not become a fallacy, that's not how fallacies work if I'm right, they don't just lose that part because someone "considered". I wouldn't say that it's impossible that a coin toss will only result in heads (or tails) forever because it's a possibility too. Take for example 5 coin flips as a representation that infinite heads can be happen:

HHHHH
HTHHH
HTTHH
HTTTT
TTTTT
THHHH
TTHHH
TTTHH
TTTTH

This isn't the complete possibilities since there's 32 combinations out there for that flip, we just think that it's impossible because it can only happen once and it's just like any other combination but we're so used to patterns that we ignore that and consider it an impossibility because monotony in results is weird for us.
518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any meme coin has the ability to challenge bitcoin dominance ? on: March 07, 2024, 05:38:15 AM
They don't have any utility if I recall correctly and they've got a lot of coin supply in circulation so it's going to be really difficult in my opinion to be dominating against bitcoin, sure they can increase their price here and there and they do get some headlines here and there too but if you think about it, they're not really keeping up the pace, most of them are stabilizing after some level of pumping but that's about it. I don't think it will ever eclipse bitcoin though, I just like to think of meme coins as the crazy brother of bitcoin and that they don't really meet eye to eye but they definitely stay away from each other's business.
519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you worried about the US Government moving BTC? on: March 07, 2024, 04:18:48 AM
If you say that we shouldn't be worried then we shouldn't be worried  Wink, I think that it's a really crazy thing that US got the highest number of bitcoin and they don't even accumulate their bitcoins, they just seize those bitcoin that was made from illicit activities and now they've got a really huge amount of money sitting there, just waiting to be used I guess, what they're going to do with the money is still mystery to me though like why are moving those amounts somewhere? Needing another source of money for military budget?
I don't feel happy whenever the price falls down. I guess that's normal for everyone of us here. So when the US government decides to dump their coins, that would make me a little sad because that would mean the price would be affected. But since I know that the correction would be temporary and that the demand would eventually erase the selling pressure, I think I generally don't care. Especially at this point when the global demand is rising so fast, the US government selling won't really be a game-changer.
We're opposite because I'm a long-term hodler so I almost always want bitcoin to go down in prices when it comes to me buying some bitcoin, I want to make sure that I'm getting a huge value whenever I buy and that's what I always wait for whenever I have a huge payday with my job and other side hustles. There's also the fact that I believe in bitcoin and it's inevitability to be able to go back up again whenever the prices are dumping and everyday is another new low for it, it will eventually recover which have been done many times before.
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just a friendly Bitcoin friend reminder - High price = more scams on: March 07, 2024, 03:27:35 AM
It's always good to reinforce this idea that the more value there is, the more people want to steal it... therefore, no porn, suspicious links, random emails... preferably have a clean and exclusive computer or notebook just for moving coins.

Caution and safety are never an exaggeration
People always forget that part too, porn can definitely be a problem for someone that's trying to store their bitcoins safely as it's an allure to people to browse those adult websites without any care and they don't know that the more sketchy it is, the more likely that it's going to be riddled with suspicious links and adwares that might carry some problematic viruses and Trojans.

It's also worth noting that if you want a good browser that doesn't give you pop up ads, your best bet would probably be using Brave or DuckDuckGo since they're really good at keeping you browse safely. It's also helpful in preventing clicking on phishing links if you've got a work email that's not connected to your home devices and only used in your work, that way, you can easily filter out stuff that needs filtering, another thing that you can also do is remove junkmails in your inbox so it's much cleaner and unsubscribe to newsletters so they don't send you emails that you have no use for.
