581  Economy / Speculation / Re: guilty plea on: November 22, 2023, 09:45:47 AM
CZ resigned from Binance has some dump potential.   News article says he is facing a year plus sentence and had to post a bail amount in the 9 figures size.   I dont know thats true but the disruption of a major crypto company could be enough to pause any buying and trigger a swing to selling.   The ETF refusal or delay is another reason, against that is the backdrop of the dollar index in some decline still which doesnt support a generally negative view unless it also switches its behavior hence I think any sell is smaller rather then larger.

Yeah, however, it didn't deter the market for now, I mean we have reach $37k and then we are in the mids $36k. If this news has a negative impact by now we should be seeing the market going into a dump state, but so far not of this is happening.

But I do agree that this is a breakout news, hopefully we will survived with this kind of negative media.

And there is also speculation that BlackRock has something to do with it, but I don't know, this huge entities have their own narratives behind so we don't know who's who behind the attacks on Binance, it is just SEC or some big entities as well and wanted to take them down.
582  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake/Phishing Defillama Website on: November 22, 2023, 07:46:56 AM
in this case, If you type what the OP put here, this is what you are going to see:

So it's really hard to distinguished it the beginning and you think you are in the right website because it's very visually similar.
One moment of lack of focus and distraction can lead to opening a phishing domain through email, AdSense ads, or in social media applications without paying attention to the characters of the domain, whether they are Latin or non-Latin, different languages, or symbols, etc. This can have serious consequences for people who are deceived by these visual tricks, as homograph attacks are considered a slightly advanced level of regular phishing domains. Even most of the phishing domains that rely on homograph attacks have identical templates to the official domains. Bookmarking official domains in the browser can be a good idea, and using browser extensions that detect these phishing and scam domains when opened by the user inadvertently or rushed.
Just used our common sense and I think it will be good for us. The problem is that there are newbies though who's focus is to make money very quick in this market and so they don't understand what the difference with this kind of website and they just click without thinking.

Yeah, there are other ways, like bookmarking and use browser extensions that detect phishing site. Still not late for this newbies to learn everything here and not how to get phished, and it's not that hard to understand, to be honest.
583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 22, 2023, 07:18:58 AM
The Sacramento Kings are having a pretty good year so far building on what they were able to accomplish last year. Now they’re saying that they are going to get aggressive at the trading deadline but I’m not sure who is available that that could target. Maybe DeMar DeRozan but I’m not sure how well he would fit into their offense.
I don't know, they seems to be perfect right now, I mean they have found the missing pieces together, Fox is currently the scoring champion if I'm not mistaken, so everything looks good. And with that it's hard to break that up, chemistry is high. Not saying that DeMar DeRozan is not a good player or he will be bad for the team, but it can disrupt what they have right now, just saying. So it might be better to removed that idea for now and let the current roster blossom.

And as what we have been saying before, they have gotten the experience from last year and so they bring it back this season and you can see the maturity from them and they are obviously one of the best team in the West so far.
584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question for those who loose too frequently in gambling on: November 22, 2023, 06:12:15 AM
I don't know any gamblers who only lose. It's in the casino's best interest not to allow such things to happen, but if I were in such situation, I'd probably be either entertainment-focused, or desperate.
There will be times that you will experience a losing streak, nevertheless, if you feel that you can get back and be lucky then you will try the play the game again whichever way you can. I wouldn't call it desperate though, maybe it might motivate you or at least give you an excuse to comeback and try to win some and change the complexion of the game for you.

People who care only about entertainment go to casino, play, lose and go out because for them it's a way to unload after a busy day at work.
People who are desperate see gambling as the only way out of their financial problems and they keep coming back despite losing, hoping their bad luck will change.
But that's more of a entertainment if you to traditional based casinos, you will not be entertained at online casinos because obviously you will be the only one to play at the comfort of your room. So if you wanted to have fun then go out on a weekends with your friends at land based casinos but be sure to just bring the money that you can afford to lose and thank advantage of like free drinks or food or watch some live band entertaining the gamblers inside.
585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would You Crowdfund for a Gambler Who Has Gambled Irresponsibly? on: November 22, 2023, 01:11:38 AM
A few days ago, I posed a question in this forum, wondering if, as someone who engages in gambling, you've ever considered thought of giving back to the community if you ever had a successful gambling run. I carefully went through all the responses, maintaining keen interest and taking note of each perspective. Another aspect of the inquiry involves whether you would be willing to participate in crowdfunding for a fellow gambler who reaches out to the public through social media seeking financial support after they gambled with the funds meant for an important project like, investment, school fees, rent, marriage or any other thing. And what would you say to those who go ahead to donate to these gamblers out of a sense of empathy?
Isn't it contradictory though? I mean we all know how gambling is, it can really ruined someone's life specially if they become addicted and can't control themselves and uses the money or funds that is allotted for other important things as you have describe.

Not that I don't want to help someone, but if you really wanted to help it should not be in this case. And this could be another excuse for gamblers to continue with what they are doing. Because at the back of their minds, they might think that they can escape with it is they will or someone in their behalf, will do crowdfund for the money that they have irresponsibly lost to gambling.
586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 22, 2023, 12:56:18 AM
^^ I think it's the right thing to do for those organizations, Charlo was given a leeway, he was even declared as undisputed before the WBO took that belt off from him. And then IBF followed suit. So he has the blessing to fight Canelo by those organizations and given him ample time if he wanted to defend it or not.

Tim has been relegated to full champion already, so that's good enough for him as he has been waiting for Charlo since June when he says that he was injured and then decided to go for the Alvarez fight.

I'm not familiar with the IBF fighters though, but it's good that if Bakhram Murtazaliev is the mandatory challenger, then he will have the first crack on the belt against Jack Culcay.
587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I've learned so far as a gambler on: November 18, 2023, 10:14:37 AM
If you walk into a casino with $200 and you start playing with that $200 and you win $200, get the hell out, you simply just doubled your money, take your goddamn leave, what do you think you wanna do? Win a million dollars? You will go home empty handed.
That is already a huge win, if you can double your money, then that is big already and yeah, you should be quitting. You can't bring home the casinos, as what we have a local saying about it. And as long as you are winning, then it's good to quit early.

The next thing that rings in your ear is you can still win another or more, that's the devil whipsering, the art of gambling is knowing when to stop.
As for this, it's more on the emotions though, like at the back of your mind you wanted to came back and win for more because you think that you are lucky. But it could be the worst decision in your life and for sure you are going to regret it.

Yeah, just enjoy and have fun and just bring or deposit money that you can afford to lose. And so when you wake up in the morning, you are not affected by that defeat and life goes on.
588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Letting the cat out of the bag on: November 18, 2023, 09:35:33 AM

If you are facing gambling addictions and you are keeping it all to yourself, you are worsening your problem, find someone who is close to you and open up to them, letting it all out will bring you some relieve and hopefully you will get better, don't wait till you hit the rock bottom before you say it all out.

But the thing is that gamblers are not going to admit to themselves that they addicted, hence it's going to be very hard for them to open up to someone unless it's too late or a family member notice it and then have to give him or her the advise to quit gambling as it is not doing any good for him and the consequences are worst that the gambler can imagine.

So it's really a dilemma for someone who wanted to help a gambler. And it takes a lot of guts for the gambler to admit and to reach out to someone before it's too late. Hopefully this will be the case, someone out there, that is really losing big sum of money and reaching out before they hit rock bottom and waste everything because of gambling.
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Math and Gambling on: November 18, 2023, 07:40:43 AM
Before I began gambling, there were some YouTube videos that do pop up occasionally and I can still remember vividly that one was titled “a man was banned from gambling after winning with his mathematical strategy” or something similar to this; although I never played them since I’m no maths genius and if I should play the videos I won’t understand shit about what they are talking about, but one question still bother me, these so called maths genius have they never lost a game since they started gambling? Is their maths strategy a flawless one? It could be as what the post above mine said and it was just luck that their analysis worked and people linked it to their maths skills.
There are very many videos like these on the internet. But to use math for gambling, you have to understand how the math works. Whether this is true or not gamblers without a math background would not want to try it out because it would require that they spend a lot of time acquiring new knowledge knowing how impatient gamblers can be and would rather build on existing knowledge to achieve their immediate betting goal than learn something new, that's why we see less math majors who are gamblers talk about math and gambling.
Maybe card counting can be considered as how math works or at least know the chances of you to win in this game if you know how to count cards and it's not illegal although casinos can ask you to leave if they spotted you that you are doing it.

But all other games are based on just pure luck, and there are no math or probabilities on that. Unless like in roulette, you find a biased machines that tend to land on some certain part of the wheel. But then again you have to have like thousands if not millions of data to get before you can make your own conclusions.
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: November 18, 2023, 07:05:02 AM
I like the Bucks beating the Hornets, Kings beating the Spurs, and Lakers beating the Trailblazers tonight. Also tempted to take the Suns over the Jazz, but not in a parlay. The Clippers will probably lose to the Rockets also, but I don’t think I could ever bet on that Rockets team to beat anyone regardless of how well they’re playing at the moment.
Did you parlay? Clippers won against the Houston in a very close game, so this is the only game that you might have lost.

But if you parlay Bucks + Kings + Lakers, it's going to be a good bet for you.

Lebron James has a monster game, 35 points and got 9 rebounds. And Durant almost had a triple double with 38 points, 9 and 9. And Fox had a big game as well with 43 points for the Kings to win 9 points against Spurs and Wemby's 27 points.
591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 18, 2023, 06:54:49 AM
Rockets won 6 in a row and Clippers lost 6 in a row. Most people expect Rockets to win but I thought the exact opposite. This must be the game that both streaks are over. Rockets were close to win the game but Harden said the last word. He played like his Rockets days against Rockets ironically.
This Clippers should be in higher places, since that bad streak is over I believe they'll climb up fast. They promise so much with that roster. Harden is back to normal, Westbrook accepted his bench role, with Kawhi and George they should be in top 5 in the West.

I’m glad the Clippers finally won a game with James Harden on the roster. I was beginning to get embarrassed for them. The highlight of the night for me was definitely watching Russell Westbrook try to posterize Dillon Brooks. All Brooks could do was foul and hope he doesn’t end up on a poster. Even though Russ missed the dunk, I’m guessing it is still going to make an amazing poster.
It was a while ending, I thought that the Clippers is going to lose this one again as the Rockets build a 5 point lead with 2 minutes to go. But the Clippers was able to pull some stops and then they have 2 miscues from the young Jalen Green.

And then Harden, who make a 3 plus a foul when the score is tied at 100 each. So I guess this is redeem time for him, as he was able to make a 4 point play to give them that lead for good and then VanFleet misses a 3. At least they have broken the curse already, but still though, we need to look for more games to see if this Clippers team has want it takes to become a solid contender in the West.
592  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin about to close at the highest price in 78 weeks! Looking strong!💪 on: November 17, 2023, 10:14:19 AM
Looking at the current conditions it is actually possible that we will try to go higher because after all we have been in the $20 range for a long time and now with the conditions in October which are always positive every year, this could be a good opening for us to move on and enter the next price.
But in this case the condition remains the same of doing what we have to do. Invest and hold because at the end of the day this will only be a temporary uptick because our real goal is not here but somewhere higher than this.
Last month highest of bitcoin price stuck around $32k before going drop and need more than three months later for breaking around $35k, I sure and optimistic with halving one close forward get opportunity to see bitcoin will raise to higher price.

Hold and keep accumulate as much possible during bitcoin around $35k its most worth opportunity before end this year and one or two months before halving with potential bitcoin will up to higher price. Don't afraid keep accumulate as how much possible and spent your money for investing in bitcoin and take profit next year when halving time close or after halving with potential bitcoin up above $50k.
The time we have to accumulate more bitcoin in our wallets is decreasing at an astonishing rate, if people do not want to miss the opportunity to be there when the bull market happens and obtain profits then they need to invest as soon as possible, as it seems inevitable that a new ATH will be formed and bitcoin for the first time will reach six figures, still I think there will be many people too afraid to invest that will lament missing one of the opportunities of their lifetime just because they were not decisive enough to pull the trigger.
It boils down to experience I guess, if there are investors who have been in the seen many bull run and bear market, they know what is coming in the market. So it's a mental game to hold and not to sell for this experience investors.

For newbies, it could be very different as they don't have that under their skin. So it might take sometime for them to understand if we say that we don't want to missed that kind of opportunities and so we advise them to buy and accumulate and be ready for the next bull run. So are still half a year at least from the block halving, so plenty of time in our hand to at least some in our wallet, in my opinion.
593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 17, 2023, 08:49:17 AM
Easy game for Thunder. Warriors without Curry is already tasteless, they don't have Green as well. Klay plays awful and Payton is injured now. Warriors can only score with Looney and Kuminga, which is quite contradictional for them. Warriors can't compete against Thunder with only points in the paint. SGA started good, I expect an early Thunder win by 20+ points margin.

That's why they need to find a solution for their team since if GSW will heavily rely on Curry then they will be in huge trouble for more games if Steph is out of the game. They already have those shooters so they should maximize this guy and make them play hard so that once Steph is out they have other guys to step up for them.

They are having a good start earlier but suddenly they fall short and I think they are losing some morale for current happening on their team.

I really thought earlier that they are fine even if Steph is out but SGA and the rest of the gang prove that they are not so easy and they give a huge problem to more stronger team then show how good their current roster this season.
Yes, same here I thought that the Warriors even as underdog have a big chance to win this game at home because they have still have the other half of the Splash Brothers. But it seems that Klay doesn't have a good start of the season. And we know that his contract is up, so he better produce big numbers so that the Warriors will have to retain him, otherwise, their championship core might break and this could be his last season if he doesn't have that numbers that they are expecting of him.

Steve Kerr will have to make a lot of adjustments right now if they will have a lot of players that is going to be in the injury list. There's so much hype with them when they got rid of Poole and get CP3, however, we can't see the injuries on Curry and Thompson's dismal performance.
594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 17, 2023, 07:06:36 AM
@Yaunfitda, @btc_angela. This is a head scratching move by the IBF to give their approval for a unification and when it was unified the IBF removes the championship from the boxer who had won the IBF title.

Also, Bud Crawford might have expressed that he will not fight Boots Ennis, however, does Bud have an opponent for his next fight already? The IBF should have waited, I reckon.
Isn't it Spence already activated the rematch clause? So it will be Spence vs Crawford II. And that's why it's a big surprised that the IBF stripped Crawford of the IBF belt when he was supposedly defending the unified title against Spence in a rematch.

@Yamifoud - Yeah Shakur won my a huge decision against Edwin delos Santos. But it's not a fight that everyone is very happy to watch. And others could be right that it was dull and boring.

But still it's a win for him and now he can call himself a 3 division champion.
595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Stevenson vs De Los Santos - Nov 16 on: November 17, 2023, 05:56:39 AM
So is anyone taking these betting odds? I might take a bet on a Tweeterson by KO/TKO. Honestly, I am starting to get annoyed with his trash-talking as if he is a KO artist.

But still, I am very doubtful of De Los Santos since this is his first title fight and this is also his first 12-rounder fight IIRC. And with the level of opponent, he is facing he can get tired if he can't connect. Unless he is training to survive rather than take his chances of winning this fight. If De Los Santos backpedals and tries to counter Shakur, he might survive but he will definitely lose by a wide decision or even a shutout.

I did not expect this fight to happen on a weekday since championship fights happen during weekends except in Japan where they have their own ways.

They are giving way for the Formula 1 that would be held on the weekend, that's why they are doing this on a late Thursday night.

As of this writing, no result yet for the main event but the co-main event between Navarrete and Conceicao has gone to a draw even if the former has dropped the latter twice. The score was 113-113 for the two judges while judge Don Trella scored it 114-112 for Navarrete.
And as everyone has expected, Stevenson has been dominating the fight, and I only gave Delos Santos just one round though. Or order for Edwin to win, he has to score a knockout but I doubt that he can do that against Shakur.

But I'm expecting that someone will comment that this is a snooze fight, or boring.

However, a win is a win and so with that, Stevenson is going to continue with his ascend to the 135 lbs. And it just weird though that this fight is not on weekends as most fight fans think that this should be Sunday US time.

Controversial win by Navarette, I don't know, but it could go either way and it seems to me that Robson was "Rob" again.
596  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]: Impersonation and spoofing of crypto related companies on Twitter on: November 17, 2023, 02:24:00 AM
Good that this website has been taken down and offline, but the criminals was able to run off initially with $50,000. And I felt sorry for those victims. So in any case that this kind of attacks resurfaces again, just be cautious though and check everything first before you go and click any link.
That's sad but I wonder sometimes how people fall prey to these scams, overall, hackers and scammers are putting real work like how they managed to arrange a Twitter account and website (which I know is not that hard for scammers) but point is if they are doing real work then we (future victims) should also put some real efforts to get education of all kinds of scams.
Yeah, most of the time it's hard to imagine how crypto investors simply believed anything they see on their Twitter, and criminals is known to be good at spoofing everyone, not just like this kind of impersonation. Since the advent of AI, there has also been a lot of impersonation in Youtube resulting in millions lost from this scammers and this is a very dangerous world that we live it.

We should double check everything before connecting our wallets I have learnt this thing that when you do things fast without confirming, without double checking, you become a victim. Therefore we should verify a news from multiple resources and should join some community where we can discuss on new matters and should remain active. At least this work we can do if we want to avoid such scams.
Maybe we can't really reiterate enough that in crypto world, we shouldn't just trust anyone but verify. But I guess this is going to be a expensive lessons for those who fall for this trick and hopefully next time they have learned from it. And for us, just be cautious as well and simply not connect anything without checking the links.

Fortunately, we have successfully retrieved a backup of our database and are working with regulators to develop a plan for fully refunding all users. This plan will be announced in the coming days.
Why you need to work with regulators though, I mean if you have the data already and I will assume that it also includes the email address of those affected users, you can simply send them an email or even tell them to go here in our community?

We will provide an update on our reimbursement plan and schedule as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding.
I'm not directly affected by it, by maybe someone who has still funds will obviously welcome this good news. Hopefully, it will be ASAP, as there could be members here who still have a lot of funds to the tune of thousands of dollars in your platform.
598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney (9th of December) on: November 16, 2023, 07:54:36 PM
Oscar dela Hoya says that they are looking at AB, Teo and Haney as his next opponent.
Do you mean Adrien Broner, the 'About Billions' guy? I think his ranking isn't on par with Ryan, or we could say that he's past his prime.

Maybe a matchup with Teo and Haney would be good for Garcia. However, if we're looking for an entertaining fight, Teo could deliver in that regard.

So depends on this fight and then Ryan winning against Duarte. And the good thing is that their fight is just a weeks apart and with that, we will know the results and maybe next year we might see it.

One step at a time, he needs to achieve a successful comeback first. Hopefully, he'll train hard and not underestimate Duarte so that he can secure a win.

Additionally, the victory needs to be impressive, especially since they are aiming for matchups against big names in boxing, all of whom are champions, except for AB.
That will be an explosive fight, Haney vs Garcia, or Lopez vs Garcia, or even Haney vs Lopez. We have anticipated that this fight is going to happen at 135 lbs, but all of them outgrow that division so they move to 140 lbs. And now that Lopez has one of the belts, and then Haney chasing another one, Garcia fighting a dangerous fighter in Duarte and needs to win in order to have his name in the mix again.

But then again, with his massive following, Ryan Garcia's name is one of the most hype regardless of what weight classes he will be in. That's why I think this fight is going to be made next year and it's going to be doable because of the huge money in the line.
599  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull season started? on: November 16, 2023, 07:37:52 PM
But the halving is still quite far away and if we believe that history will repeat itself then we are just in the pre-bull phase, not really into the bull season. I think what's going on is just Fomo with the news regarding ETFs being approved before January 2024. Therefore, it is likely that the market will react strongly if news about the ETF continues to be delayed by the SEC. Many people are Fomo and worried when they see the market rising sharply, but I think we should be careful and not be too subjective at the present time.
Because it has been below the price of 35K for a long time and now we have passed it, I can say that this is heading towards real bullishness even though the road map is still towards halving and we still have the possibility to buy before the increase continues.
Regarding the ETF which is still pending, that is a big bonus that must be utilized to welcome other bulls into the market.
Wanting to hold back as hard as he could, the bull's head couldn't be held back.
Just to be fair, after getting above $37k the previous day, the price goes on another sea of red, at least all crypto does. Not sure what negative news has pull the market down to red right now, but it doesn't look good if we are a investor. Nevertheless, another good time to buy, no need to wait for the price to go further down. Just do DCA and we will all be good stacking bitcoin.

As for the ETF, it's still pending as you have said, and the best time to speculate about a approval is next year. So hopefully, the price could bounce back again as everyone is waiting that at least this sort of bullish momentum will continue up to the end of the year.

And talking about the IBF stripping him of the belt, this is what Crawford has to say,

Quote
“Man, f--- the IBF! That’s what I say,” Crawford told a group of reporters after the Shakur Stevenson-Edwin De Los Santos weigh-in at T-Mobile Arena. “You know what I mean? F--- the IBF and they organization. I don’t give a f--- about, you know what I mean, the IBF. They stripped me damn near 2½ months after [I won] my title, not knowing what was gonna happen next. But it’s cool, though. I’m not mad at ‘em, you know? I got what I needed, and that was, you know, undisputed. And the rest is history. You know, I don’t care about none of that.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/crawford-f-ibf-they-stripped-me-damn-near-2-months-i-won-my-title--179278

Yeah, I think I will agree with what he says, he already accomplished what he needs to be done, to become undisputed at 147 lbs and the first man to do in 2 different weight class, 140 lbs and 147 lbs.

And if they elevated Ennis as their regular champion, still there is the a big question whether he can call himself the true champion as he hasn't face the best in the division, either Spence or Crawford.
