601  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-07] 2017’s Best-Performing ETFs Were Bitcoin-driven on: January 08, 2018, 05:33:37 AM
Fourth Industrial Revolution innovations such as Bitcoin, artificial intelligence, and driverless cars are becoming quite profitable to financial companies focusing on disruptive technologies.

https://bitcoinist.com/2017s-best-performing-etfs-were-bitcoin-driven/

The ETFs quoted in the article are very niche ETFs and have limited exposure to Bitcoin. ARK Innovation ETF and ARK Next Generation Internet ETF both focus on a wide horizon and bitcoin is just one of the investments of these ETFs. Things are slowly changing now, and we could have a mainstream ETF whose primary exposure is to Bitcoin. Imagine if we had such an ETF in 2017!
602  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 07, 2018, 09:33:15 PM
Yup that's what I feel too , SA will win this match for sure and most probably series too . Hardik is still playing well and he might go on to score a century but it won't be enough according to me. SA might post 400 as target and Indians will fail to chase it down.

Today's match delayed due to rain so match did not start yet. If India needs to draw this match then only rain can help them otherwise no way India can try for drawing this match. SA is in a very good position to win this match but let's see whether rain can help India in this match. South Africa lead by 142 runs and still, they got 8 wickets remaining in this second innings.
Still, a lot of time left in the game once South Africa takes a lead of 250+ then it will be very difficult for India, already seen how Indian batsman's struggled against Saf fast bowling attack. It's clearly Saf match even though Dale Steyn out of the game because of injury Rabada,Morkel and Philander can do the job for SAF.

If South Africa bat well, they have to think about a declaration. Even though a score of 250 might be difficult, no team would take a risk by setting such an achievable target. South Africa would want to set Kohli and Co a target of at least 350 runs (if not more). The loss of time due to rain might let India escape with a draw in this match.
603  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-06] Local Bitcoin Meetups Are Booming Worldwide on: January 07, 2018, 08:55:50 PM
Meetings driven by social media are an indicator of interest in Bitcoin among common people, just like the number of google searches. The increased interest is good, but the focus seems to be more on price and making money. There is a lot of 'stupid' money flowing into Bitcoin and it is easy for unethical marketeers to push for crypto-products in these meetings.
604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: January 07, 2018, 07:23:10 PM
Rebranding and a better marketing would help alot.
Technically Byteball is far ahead of most other Altcoins. Cool
I like Byteball and have invested in it for a long time. I'm still keeping a bit of bubbles and it's making me happy. Byteball has a unique technical foundation, professional management team is always on the right track and a large community, which is the factor that makes Byteball the same today.

Yes, it is just patience we required. All of us are patient with Bitcoin, knowing that the price will appreciate in the long run. With other alts, we are impatient and want the price to grow multifold within a matter of weeks.
With Byteball, although it is slipping in terms of rank (based on market capitalization), I know that we have a winner on our hands and the price will eventually rise.
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Nano? on: January 07, 2018, 06:30:40 PM
Another coin scam, the same as bitcoin gold, do not get involved in it.

Bitcoin Gold may be a scam and shouldn't even be called a fork because of the premine. But you can't deny that existing BTC holders got $300-$400 per bitcoin because of the creation of Bitcoin Gold.
Just consider these coins as a free gift, convert them to Bitcoin at the first available opportunity, and then ignore them,
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 07, 2018, 06:13:31 PM
For every 16 BTC you receive 0.1 GB (1 gigabyte = 1 billion bytes)

IMO, the 16 BTC to 0.1 GB should be adjusted to encourage more community participation on the airdrop. Rationale is that the btc price rose a lot since the airdrop started.

It is better to buy some Byteballs for the same reward.

Tony said there will be a new distribution model for the next round. I just wonder if I can receive GB for holding GB.

Until Tony actually spells it out, we can only speculate about the distribution model. He has stated that the airdrop was an expensive way to attract new users. But if there is an airdrop, I certainly expect it to benefit GB holders more than BTC holders.
I suspect that the distribution could be used to help those who actually transact using Byteball, to buy /sell actual goods and services.
607  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-05] Belarus To Legalize ICOS & Cryptocurrencies Make Them Tax Free on: January 06, 2018, 08:28:57 PM
a wise move on behalf of Lukashenko and Belarus is going to be perfect as a cryptohaven
another good perspective is that Russia may follow the suit and finally regulate cryptocurrency
effectively adding around 150 mil + potential bitcoin users
Belarus is often considered testing grounds for Russia if we speak about economy
and the example of the neighbouring Estonia and its e-residency,which proven to be a success
could see both Belarus and Russia as next cryptocurrencies hubs
mind you Russia is the home of ETH creator so do not look down at their capability to create groundbreaking, technologically advanced stuff
lets see how it develops,though

I don't think Russia will follow suit, just because Belarus has welcomed cryptocurrencies. Russia is planning to issue a crypto-rouble, which might help it overcome sanctions imposed by the United States. If there is a fiat cryptocurrency, you can be pretty sure that the government will crack down on other cryptos just to make sure that its own one succeeds.
608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 06, 2018, 07:10:29 PM
Is it possible to claim coins from older airdrops?

No, that is done and dusted. You can wait for the next drop (if there is one) in March 2018.
The easier way is to buy these coins off an exchange.
609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 06, 2018, 03:39:57 PM
India will be under huge pressure in this game from now on. SA has already a lead of 77 runs and even if they make 250 runs in 2nd innings still India would have to bat 4th and make 325 to win the match which will be difficult . So mostly game is slipping in SA favor already.

This match is a lost cause for India. The pitch has now improved, although I wouldn't say batting is easy. South Africa have already reached 52/0 and have a 77 run lead in the first innings. They are going to set India a target of 400-500 runs to get, with 2 full days to play out. India cannot withstand such pressure and will collapse.
610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: From Memecoin to Billion Dollar Player - Dogecoin Breaks $1 Bln on: January 06, 2018, 02:53:22 PM
Dogecoin, which started as a parody cryptocurrency, has now broken the $1 bln market cap showing how far virtual currencies have come since Bitcoin’s inception in 2009.

Four years after the Bitcoin genesis block was mined, programmer Billy Markus coded his very own cryptocurrency in 2013. With the help of Jackson Palmer, a product manager and data analyst at Adobe, Dogecoin was brought to life, meme and all.

Taking up the popular internet meme of the Shiba Inu dog, the creator envisioned the cryptocurrency to be a friendly online payment system, although its rise in popularity may not have been intended.

The fact that a coin which was created as a joke has crossed $1Bn in market capitalization makes me worry. It is an inflationary coin and has hardly seen any development. When people say that the crypto market is not made up of rational investors, this seems to be evidence towards it.
611  Economy / Speculation / Re: Big Daddy Bitcoin is Back & Your Alts Might be Hurting Because of It on: January 06, 2018, 02:12:57 PM
Bitcoin is back up $17,000 and with that nice move, the air has been sucked out of some of the hottest altcoins of the past month like XRP, XLM, ADA and more. Is now the time to lock in profits, buy the dip or something else? Let's talk about the day's action and what we might see in the future.

I would hardly say that Bitcoin is back, just because it moved up by 10%. We are still someway behind the previous All Time High of $20k and we have to cross that before we conclude anything. Ripple was trading at 20c a month back and now it is still trading above 3$. Ripple supporters (that weird group) will laugh at you if you tell them that the air has been sucked out of Ripple.
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 05, 2018, 11:48:35 PM
People say all kinds of things about DeepOnion, but the creative people are there and contribute their thing. I can only imagine where Byteball could go if similar input of very talented supporters would be used to further the Byteball project.

It just needs to catch some wind....  Roll Eyes

The wait for Byteball to catch some wind has been quite long. We have seen coins with no real underlying features being caught in pumps and become worth billions of dollars, while Byteball remains flat. Byteball has now slipped to below 60 in the list of cryptocurrencies, while I think it definitely should be in the top 20, if not in the top 10.
613  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-05] Coinbase Rejects Ripple Integration Rumors, Currency’s Market Cap D on: January 05, 2018, 11:26:01 PM
Coinbase may be in denial of adding ripple today but I wouldn't be surprised if they actually ended up adding it anywhere somewhere in the foreseeable future. Coinbase's intentions have already been made clear, if something will make them money they will add it. The fact that the marketcap of ripple dropped by 20 billion also demonstrates that a lot of ripple was being bought in anticipation of a potential coinbase listing. So long term I'm not really worried about ripple.

Coinbase eventually adding Ripple wouldn't move the markets today. Ripple is being sold off because a lot of people will be sitting on phenomenal profits. I really hope Coinbase finds something meaningful in their insider trading probe and that they also disclose it to the public. That will put an end to a lot of chatter about how crypto markets resemble the wild west where anything goes.
614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: January 05, 2018, 11:19:41 PM
Pakistan vs. New Zealand - match just started. Pakistan decided to bowl and New Zealand currently 22/0. Going to be pretty interesting, but I just hope it doesn't start raining at Wellington like it has been in the past hours during practice sessions.

New Zealand have started well, reaching 100/1 in just 16.3 overs. New Zealand are a very strong team when they play at home. Pakistani's bowlers had to perform well for them to win this match. Unfortunately, New Zealand batsmen have got off to a strong start.
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 04, 2018, 07:21:02 AM
Quick reminder:
there is a reddit poll happening to vote for the change of denomination and if it comes to Tony's attention it could make a difference. https://www.reddit.com/r/ByteBall/comments/7npgib/poll_unit_of_denomination_gbyte_kbyte_or_mbyte/

It is not surprising that GB receives the fewest number of votes. What is surprising is that MB is receiving more votes than KB. People should realize that this is a one-time exercise. We shouldn't be here in a few months claiming that Byteball costs a few dollars because it is denominated in MB, and people are picking up cheaper coins. The move to KB would be a good idea, in my view.
616  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peter Thiel & Bitcoin on: January 04, 2018, 06:42:54 AM
-Peter Thiel's Founders Fund has bought millions of dollars in bitcoin, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the situation.
-Those holdings are worth hundreds of millions of dollars, the newspaper says. It wasn't clear whether Founders had sold any of its holdings, the report says.
-Bitcoin rises more than 11 percent to trade near $14,711, according to Coinbase.[1]

Do you think this investor will affect price?

It probably did provide a flip to Bitcoin's price, but that is about it. Bitcoin has stabilized in the $15,000 range where as other altcoins are rising. Apart from the fact that he has invested, there are 2 things to note in the report
1) He has invested in Bitcoins periodically and not in the recent rally
2) He now thinks Bitcoin is over valued and would feel comfortable buying bitcoins when they are around $3,000 each
Statements like that cannot provide a boost for Bitcoin.  Smiley
617  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-03] South Korea Law Firm Fights New ‘Unconstitutional’ Crypto Trading.. on: January 04, 2018, 06:26:53 AM
If the plan is only to ban anonymous trading, then it is fine. It is actually regulation and not a ban, as media are making out. Most exchanges across the world have Know Your Customer norms and practice some form of due diligence. The exchanges in South Korea are just being made to adhere to global norms.
618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 03, 2018, 07:37:05 PM
Not so long ago, both Stellar Lumens and Byteball were around the same place at Coinmarketcap, around #20 based on market cap. I remember this, because both were airdropped and both had my attention.
At the moment, Stellar is #6, while Byteball is #56. Byteball only has about 33% left to distribute, Stellar has about 83% left, and keeps a very large share for it's own foundation. Stellar is centralized, has very low fees, a high cost per wallet and hence no privacy in using different addresses, and yet, it has a much higher market cap.
While Byteball went up 4-fold in the past 3 months (measured in dollars), stellar went up 70-fold. I can only dream of Byteball following this path, it would mean more than a Bitcoin per GBYTE, or as many prefer: more than 0.001BTC per MBYTE.
Stellar always had a higher 24h trading volume than Byteball, it's now 450 times larger. But Stellar is traded al almost all possible exchanges.

That is an interesting comparison. You have forgotten to mention that Stellar does a hell of a marketing, and Byteball does zero marketing. We live in an age where marketing, alas, is one of the most important factors in the success of a project, because it deals with the PERCEPTION that people have of a product, which in the end is what really matters. We need a marketing division for Byteball.

Marketing might result in quick gains, but if a project has substance backing it, the project will eventually be 'discovered'. Bitcoin didn't do any marketing, but its price exploded eventually. Just think of these initial days as an opportunity to accumulate cheap GB. Once the euphoria around all these pumped coins dies down, byteball will also zoom up.

Hi Tony! Thanks for all your work

Could you possibly apply to list on Binance? https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000822512-Listing-a-Coin-on-Binance-com
They only accept applications from developers

That is very strange. Binance should't require developers to personally pitch. What should matter to them is community support and expected trading volumes. The world is strange, but if only Tony can apply to get Byteball listed on Binance, so be it.  Undecided
Apart from changing GB to MB, one thing which I feel can result in the price increasing is listing on more exchanges.
620  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is heating up again? on: January 03, 2018, 06:29:18 AM
There definitely is increased interest in cryptocurrencies, but the question is whether money is flowing into altcoins or into Bitcoin itself. One of the reasons given for Litecoin's rise last month is that newbies who registered on Coinbase tried to buy the 'cheapest' cryptocurrency available. So it is anybody's guess whether Bitcoin still has supernormal returns left in it.
