621  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What should newbies do in trading? on: December 11, 2023, 03:14:11 PM
I'm also beginner in trading. I trade since this summer and I lost about $90 on $120 account. Recently I make $20 on last $34.
Throughout my journey in trading, I read Jack Schwager's book, watched many educational videos on YouTube, read many articles on the educational sections of CEX exchanges, and also talked with many traders. It seems to me that I understand enough about technical analysis, trading systems and trader psychology. But I'm at a dead end and don't know what to do next. Other traders advised me to just trade, but I think that over time I will lose my remaining $45, and demo trading does not bring such emotions and I don’t want to try hard when trading it
I feel that you are uncomfortable with your current situation and doubt if you will continue. Therefore, I would say that the best thing for you to do now is to quit trading because it never makes sense if you continue when your mind is out of focus and are afraid. Just save your $45 to buy stuff rather than lose them all. Just come back when you are ready and make use of your experience as a tool for your improvement and recall all the mistakes you've made as this could help you understand fully what is trading really.
While I want to encourage you more to engage in trading but seeing you're still in doubt on what to do next, then probably I have to agree with the idea that taking a break from trading is better than to continue trading and lose your remaining balance. Invest in yourself first and take time to increase your knowledge and develop your skills in trading, that way you will know already what to do next whenever trading suddenly turns into unprofitable.

Getting more experiences in trading will help you a lot when trading, but I suggest learn to stabilize your emotions first before you continue to gain additional experiences that will serve as your best teacher in trading.
622  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 11, 2023, 01:15:37 PM
I think it was early in the season and happened so quickly. It could be better in the second half of the season.

I don't think the timing is ideal if they start the tournament in the second half. For me, it's not as exciting since the second half is the last part of the season, and the playoffs are approaching. It might not feel significant because the playoffs are generally more thrilling than this in-season tournament, which is played in just one game.

Hmmm,,,perhaps in the future, they could make it a best-of-three series to add more entertainment value. This would be especially enjoyable if the series is tied 1-1, giving the decisive Game 3 a Game 7 feeling.
623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No risk no reward on: December 11, 2023, 12:01:25 PM
Before making an investment always put it at the back of your mind that the higher you stake the more higher your income will be, In this case is like we do forget one thing that it's not about winning all time but actually loss also. When you admit it that you earn and at the same time you might loss. That means you are also capable of making a run into the crypto currency world.
That's why it always good to read and understand something before you engage yourself into it, or neither trying to introduce someone into it for example if your investment is on (BTC) make sure you have learn more about it.
But it always about risk and i do believe everyone knows whenever there's no risk no reward.
Who would want to invest into something without knowing the nature of its investment first? Of course, as a responsible investor, you need to figure out your goals and risk tolerance, if you are able enough to deal with its risks or if you can make money with your investment which is the final goal. All investments start with risk, so if you are risk-averse, then never expect to gain some rewards. No risks, no rewards just like you've said.

However, there are also some confident risk takers that when they start to see the threats in a certain investment, they end up being risk-averse and never insist anymore to take those risks. They take the risks but are not brave enough to overcome those risks, so they end up losing and gain nothing.
624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Interview for sports bettors. on: December 11, 2023, 06:54:15 AM
1- How long have you been gambling in sports?
Ans ; Since I was still single I've beeing playing sports betting already. (I'm married now BTW)

Quote
2 -What are your worst experience in sports betting?
Ans ; All about losing, worst thing is when I was drunk and I got crazy betting everything I have. That time my funds came from my dayjob and I lost it all. When I go home, my ask for my salary and I could not give to her since I lose it to gambling, all I can give to her was my honest answer, luckily, she forgave me that's we are still together now.

Quote
3-What are your best experience in sports betting?
Ans ; When I won on a single bet in the nba playoffs.

It was a match between the Nets (with durant and Irving) vs Bucks.

The handicap of the nets was +2.5, so what I did is that I accepted a bet outside with friends and bet on the Nets +3.5, because they aren't aware of the online handicap.

So my bet was -2.5 Bucks (bookie) and +3.5 Nets (bookie), that was a $1000 bet because my math says it's either I win or I would be even. Luckily, the Bucks won by 3 points only, which resulted to winning both bets of mine. It's instant $2000 with out risk, or less risk since that -2.5 spread had an odds of 1.90, so I would just lose 10% of my bet, the most.

Quote
4-What can you advise on the new gamblers and those who struggles in sports betting?
Ans ; Those who struggle should evaluate what they are doing, they should stop for a while to give time to analyze the mistakes they are doing, and comeback again when ready and already responsible.
625  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which amount of money is good for me to spend on DCA? on: December 10, 2023, 04:34:03 PM
Re: Which amount of money is good for me to spend on DCA?
Do you know the idea behind DCA?
The major idea behind DCA is not how much you invest in bitcoin but how consistent you are . Someone who is doing DCA weekly with $50 and is consistent is better than someone doing DCA $200/wk and is no where near consistency. The idea behind DCA is for you to be able to invest in bitcoin in a passive way whereby you won't feel the pressure of the investment. If you are doing DCA and still being scared of being broke or not have anything left after investment, I am sorry to announce to you that you are doing the wrong version of DCA.
However, I believe OP may have quite understood about DCA but he is confused whether to do it at a bullish market or bearish market. Regardless of the season, it is important to do DCA so you can consistently place a purchase and increase the volume of your bitcoin portfolio faster. And my only advice is that, only invest an amount that you can afford to lose, an amount that is not intended to pay your bills or buy a house or car. Otherwise, once your investment did not work as planned, your life will also turn into mess.

I agree when you said that doing DCA is not on how much you invest but on how consistent you are. If you are quite hesitant about 100 euros per week, then adjust it lower than that as long as you can perform DCA in a consistent manner.
626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon said he would close Bitcoin down if he was in government on: December 10, 2023, 01:58:00 PM
Dude's a complete ass when it comes to bitcoin and crypto in general. He's never really changed his stance when it comes to bitcoin, and thinks that it's the only asset that works 'against' the government through money laundering, scams, etc. It's obvious that he'll prefer fiat over bitcoin as this guy is a banker, and a CEO of a large bank at that. Of course, if people were to switch into crypto, he'll be losing his business and he doesn't want that to happen obviously.
Well obviously, he'll have no choice but to accept the consequences if bitcoin will become mainstream in the future. Banks might still be in operation but it's not all about fiat anymore, but bitcoin too being integrated in the banks. If he can't accept that, then he's free to leave his position and continue attacking bitcoin as long as he wanted to.

Jamie Dimon is no longer different from those people who talk a lot about bitcoin and continue throwing negativity on it. Well, that's also their stance and we can't take control of them but let's see when the whole world turns into crypto enthusiasts, will they'll be left behind and chose to stand against bitcoin for life.
627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney (9th of December) on: December 10, 2023, 09:59:32 AM

I like to see Ryan Garcia, safer for Haney and at the same time I think it'll be more of an entertaining fight.

I remember Haney wanting to fight Ryan but the Golden Boy Promotion didn't want it because they were still in the process of building up King Ryan after a few years so many things have changed Haney is now a double division champion while Ryan hasn't won a single major title.

Haney just got better while Ryan is deteriorating this is because Haney is not afraid to take challenges while Ryan is cherry-picking his opponents if they will be the next to square off in the ring I don't think Ryan can keep up with Haney's speed and accuracy, Prograis is an easy fight but if it's going to be a much easier fight when he faces Ryan.

Prograis able to engage through trash talk in the face-off and weigh in but not in the actual fight. I thought Haney would play safer but it was Prograis who is obviously not on the level of his challenger, I mean he is below. That was probably the easiest championship fight for Haney, his face was fresh after the fight but Prograis was all busted, lucky for him he didn't get knockout, otherwise that would be a big "shame on him" moment in his boxing career.
628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: December 10, 2023, 09:38:04 AM
We have two games today, and the first game will start in less than an hour, so check on your bookies now so you'll not miss the fun.

First game is Meralco vs Northport, I'm betting on the better team here with -3.5. For the 2nd game,
This game is happening now. Northport had a big first quarter but Meralco came back in the 2nd quarter to make it a close game.
Unfortunately, I could not watch a live streaming as it seems like our streamers are not anymore taking effort to stream due to the streams that can be easily taken down. Good luck anyway, Meralco is looking good with the come back.
Meralco's import was too much, he scored 54 points while NP's import only 9.
Another big win by the Meralco Bolts, it's a 26 poins win (99-125), not their usual output as they are a defensive team but they are lucky to have Zachary Lofton which is a good candidate for the best import competition.

I have Magnolia -7.5 against SMB, SMB lose on their previous game, they'll struggle more against a healthy and complete Magnolia.
No JMF inside, it will be hard for them to prevent the attacks inside.

I think I would wait for a live betting, although we know that Magnolia is good and could possibly cover this, but it's safer to wait since Magnolia doesn't start strong in most of their games but would have a big run in the end.

There's a slight movement of the line, from -7.5 it's not up to -8.5, still in favor of the Magnolia Hotshots.

Game will start in less than an hour, so let's take a dinner early so no more interruption.

630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if Bitcoin shutdown? on: December 09, 2023, 09:58:32 PM
I am just wondering, what will happen if Bitcoin shutdown? Will the market crash? How about the effect of this to altcoins? Can government shutdown Bitcoin? I have a lot of question about this matter, because who knows, right? Also, how about hackers shutdown Bitcoin? What are your thought here? Let's discuss this.
There's no way that bitcoin will shut down, as the government can only ban it but it will never be possible to shut it down. The only reason that bitcoin will shut down is to see the whole internet shut down, that would be the end for bitcoin and everything that is operated by internet. But it's very impossible to see the internet shutting down as the whole world rely on it, so it would be a very big mess if it happens.

For bitcoin, a lot of threats have been heard to shut it down but hey, look at it now, still very progressive and even become more famous and powerful. That only proves that bitcoin is hard to beat by fiat, by government, or by any centralized party that is against with bitcoin existence.
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Selling All Fiat In Bank For BTC? on: December 09, 2023, 08:23:43 PM
Most likely, when we heard going all in for bitcoin, it does not necessarily mean that all his fiat will go definitely for bitcoin. No one is at the right thinking that he will invest all his money in bitcoin without reserving some fiat to his other needs and for his emergency funds. If you are a responsible investor, you know already what to prioritize and that investing should never be on top but saving for emergency funds first and saving for the needs of the family, and then if there are spare money left, that will go to the planned investment.

Selling all fiat for bitcoin may rare to happen or may never happen at all. Bitcoin is a risky investment, so one should plan it with caution to avoid regretting in the end.
632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting? on: December 09, 2023, 11:58:09 AM
You don't win if you don't try, this gambler for sure kept trying on playing "bet builder", probably even on "parlay", and finally one day he made himself a millionaire. This is a significant success already as not everyone can win a huge amount in gambling, considering the bet was only less than $20.

What can you say about this? Are you willing to risk your $18 to win $18k, or a million in PHP pesos?

No way that I would risk that amount of money in sports betting even if I am somehow knowledgeable about such subject.

$18,000 is a lot of money. Well obviously, that person is most likely rich to begin with as he has the luxury to bet that significant amount instead of investing it. The fact that he can risk that kind of money implies that he has probably have no use for such money. Again, this can be potentially dangerous as it somehow sets the tone for future sports betting fan.

I am a believer that a gambler gambles their money in proportion to their current financial status. If a person is rich to begin with. they have more access to cash for betting.

Your knowledge isn't enough to win $18k from $18 bet, that was x1000 odds, all you need is luck to hit that big win, probably life changing for some already. Well, as for me, i can't say, maybe I could be at that level but that's only when I'm already up with significant amount, it's always based on the bankroll.

Quote
But if a gambler is average, they will only gamble away a certain portion of their income.

Regardless of your status, it should still be a portion of your income as gambling all of your income is just like committing a suicide or living a life that there's no tomorrow.
633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney (9th of December) on: December 09, 2023, 11:00:43 AM
I wish this match happened with both fighters equally young. Right now this fight is tilted towards Haney because he is clearly at the top of his game. He is young. He is very athletic and hungry. Prograis could have much higher chances if he was as young as Haney. Although he is still a great boxer who can give Haney a good match and he has also got those powerful punches, I think Haney can easily manage to maintain a good distance and win by points.
Yes, Haney is really the favorite in this fight, especially since he hasn't been touched by defeat at all since making his debut on the professional stage. In fact, in 30 fights Haney managed to win 15 times by KO or TKO. In addition, Haney has a record of holding five lightweight championship belts.

Yeah, it's all available in here https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/741718

While bookies are made Haney as the favorite, it doesn't guarantee he will win and will become a champion. All his fights probably are won easily by him but pause of a moment and see who own's this division.. It's Prograis, he is the defending champion, so being an underdog is probably a great opportunity to bet on. Actually, there's only two possible outcome we could see, either Haney winning via UD or Prograis will via KO.

This is a new division for Haney, and he is fighting one of the division's champion which is Prograis. And that's why there are so much hype in this fight as Haney is coming up in weight and trying to let's say bully the new division by fighting one of the toughest champion.

And then odd makers putting the champion as the underdog at 3:1. And then Prograis highlighting that he is going to knockout Devin Haney with his power, but Haney will rely on his boxing IQ or his defensive skills. So I believed as what you say, either Haney by decision or Prograis via brutal KO.

I would choose to see a brutal KO but not betting on it. You know, Haney is just too smart and that's the reason why lots of fans are hating him due to his style, like Shakur, they don't bring the excitement that is expecting for a boxing fight. Haney being the heavy favorite, I think Prograis felt disrespected since he's the champion, that's why he wanted to knockout Haney to prove to the people that he owns the throne.
634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 09, 2023, 09:50:45 AM
I understand that it's hard to predict, but I suggest you follow your own intuition as this should be a close match.

In the last two games of the Lakers, they were -1.5 and -2, while the Pacers were both underdogs in their last two games. So most likely, the Lakers will be the slight favorites here. However, you can't count the Pacers out, as they are getting everyone involved. They are an exciting team to watch. Although I initially thought they were not consistent, beating the Celtics has changed my perspective. I've already told myself that they might advance to the Finals, so I wouldn't bet against them facing an experienced Lakers team, especially since the public is likely be backing the Lakers.
I'm guessing the Lakers will be favored by 3-4 points, but I would likely bet the Pacers and take the points. They seem to be playing good as the underdogs and have been really playing well as a team. If Haliburton is on point it will be a closer game than most think.

You are right on this. Odds are now available and the Lakers are currently -4. I think it's a fair line though, because although the Pacers had some great journey going to the championship, it's still the Lakers who are the better team looking at it's overall value since the experience is a big factor on this one.

Moneyline for Pacers, I have 2.58, this extra 58% is so attractive enough, so I'll take it.
635  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think people can overcome any danger if they want to? on: December 08, 2023, 09:37:27 PM
People will overcome any danger and challenges as long as they have the right mindset and concepts on how to deal with it. But in your case OP, you cannot expect that crypto investment will definitely solve all your financial problems. First, you don't have experience in the market, and most of the beginners have the fears of losing so they are not expected to be successful on their first investments. However, everything can be learned in time. Just don't try giving up and stay focus on your goal.

Your current situation should be more given consideration this time. Look for a more stable job so you can finance the needs of your family and at the same time, make an investment in crypto with your amount that you can afford to lose.
636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally I did it (I am happy to join). on: December 08, 2023, 08:56:32 PM
Welcome to the community of bitcoin investors. I'm glad to hear that you have finally made your first purchase, although with a high price but still the coin is still worth the price investing for. My advice for you is to always seek for long term hodling no matter what happens. The market may suddenly turns bearish but when positive news and updates hit the market, it will turn into bullish again. So be confident with your bitcoin investment, your success will certainly be achieved if you are strong and determined enough not to fall from the traps of the market.

I know you're overjoyed right now. But don't let your emotions control yourself, but stay calm and patient at all times. Do not ride with the FOMO but do the DCA to increase your bitcoin volume in your portfolio.
637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 08, 2023, 09:00:33 AM
LeBron is putting on a master class in basketball domination right now. He wants to win this tournament. He’s got 30 already early in the 3rd quarter and hasn’t missed a free throw or a three pointer yet this game as the Lakers hold a 30 point lead. If I were the coach I probably wouldn’t let him play the fourth quarter, but if he does he might end up with 50.

Yeah, again it seems that Lebron has turn back the clock of time again with this kind of performance, just few seconds in the game and he started to flex already. Lebron ended up with 30 big points, enough for him to take a rest.

And them the team 5 scores with double digits and Reddish coming up with 9 points. So it will be the Pacers vs the Lakers for the first finals. Gonna be hard to predict as Pacers also had a big momentum defeating the Bucks and Giannis.

Judging by their past matchups, I find the Pacers to be the better team as they defeated the top two teams in the East. First, they beat the Celtics, and now the Bucks, so they should not be underestimated just because the Lakers are the popular team. The Lakers, on the other hand, beat the Suns and the Pelicans, which are not even in the top 3 in the West.

I understand that it's hard to predict, but I suggest you follow your own intuition as this should be a close match.
638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: December 08, 2023, 08:35:20 AM
Gin kings and SMB are also doing great, though there are some struggles from the Brgy, but they still manage to win games.

Speaking of the Gin Kings and the Beermen, both have games tonight with Ginebra facing the Phoenix Fuel Masters while SMB Beermen will duel it out with NorthPort Batang Pier.

Ginebra Kings failed to cover the spread on their four consecutive games but i think this time around they will cover that thin spread.

^^ my bet for the first game but will also bet for the second game depending on the outcome of the first but i'm more inclined to bet for the Batang Pier as Fajardo's absence has a big impact on the team.

You might have bet early on the Ginebra San Miguel as they will not play today but tomorrow.

We only have two games today,

1s game - NLEX vs ROS (Currently playing now)
2nd game - SMB vs Northport.

I haven't made a decision yet regarding the 2nd game, but on the first game I had over 216.5 since I believe NLEX will shoot better as they badly need a win here. 2 straight losses with the new import, they need to stop that.

Remember, if this forum not allow mixer, it doesn't mean all mixer is completely wipe out since the mixer is still exist and promoted in other place.

Exactly, they'll remain because there's a demand, but in terms of popularity, it will reduce as the forum aren't anymore promoting them, or the members in the forum. On the other hand, people might be hesitant in using a mixer as they might see the risk of not getting their money back, unlike when they are being promoted, they were able to build their reputation and resulted to more users using the service.
