Can't someone think of better FUD, I'm totally bored of the China one  Huh  Angry

How do you get a bunch of drunk and rowdy canadians to leave your swimming pool?

Ask them to leave
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: September 07, 2017, 09:20:35 PM

Personally I feel like we've rewound to 2013 and Bitcoin has been reborn - all of the enthusiasm, early adoption, and entrepreneurial spirit of those days has returned to Bitcoin Cash. Not to mention the return of so many great use cases for BItcoin that were laid to rest due to Kore's scorched earth tactics.

Have the exact same feeling. I am actually more excited than ever before.

Yes it has a good vibe.

I'm trying to be agnostic and hold both types of bitcoin but I can't shake a feeling that Satoshis vision was hijacked with the segwit fork and bitcoin cash is much closer to the original concept. Having said that the huge blocks mean I wouldn't run a full node of bitcoin cash, so there is that. The dark horse in the race is Dash. It is going the big block route just like bitcoin cash but with incentivised nodes and a form of governance which so far makes for very little controversy.

665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: September 07, 2017, 08:41:41 PM
In line with Satoshi's original vision, Dash is not implementing offchain scaling and keeping transactions on chain. Lightning Network, which is a second layer solution, will inevitably lead to centralization in which large hubs (banks) will route all the transactions. But still I own some bitcoin (segwit) which I hodl. I don't like Litecoin, it is merely a test net for bitcoin.

As for bitcoin (segwit) on this log chart, these corrections don't look very serious at this time. Although it 'could' be a top I think unlikely, more of a correction.

By the way, hasn't Roach got his account back yet?

In times such as this, we could all enjoy some explanation on the power of precious metals - and especially silver.

So funny and true. Incidently I've been keeping my on the PM market. Something happening there that's very telling. Major short positions closed and new longs opened... signals? This is all happening along with rise of Bitcoin. If Gold breaks 1350 again along with silver 20+, there could be major things on the horizon. Canary in coalmine? I guess we'll see.

Yes gold has very definitely broken out of its several years bear market. Undeniably back to bullish on gold.

Heres a chart of gold versus US$

Dash Sponsors $500,000 Keiser Report Tour

snip

In any case, the next appearance of fluffypony on Keiser Report should be very interesting and entertaining!

Remember when fluffypony promised a big Monero announcement then delivered a big steaming turd of nothingness to the Monerons? Where you in on that little bit of market manipulating scam?
669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What Altcoin should I go after? on: August 31, 2017, 09:19:11 PM
Dash is the best alt

Byteball might do well.

Pink channel continues to define price of Dash in terms of bitcoin. Last bounce at bottom of channel was a great buying op. Lets see if Dash tests the top of the channel again, currently just shy of 0.1

671  Economy / Speculation / Re: Old hands, what is your current engagement level? on: August 12, 2017, 05:03:52 PM
Nice thread! I guess I'm an old hand by now. Mostly I'm quite disengaged which is quite strange when I stop and think about it, maybe the numbers on my spreadsheet are becoming too abstract? Probably the real reason is bitcoin is becoming too political and centralised for my taste and looks like becoming more so. These days I'm more in for profit than idealogical reasons, which is a shame even though profit is obviously good.

There've been setbacks along the way, I lost 99% of my first stack on the Bitcoinica exchange when it was hacked. But bought back in not long after, still early, Bitcoin and Dash have done  well for me. I sometimes trade between the two with a small portion but mostly have hodld both. Don't like etherium at all and doubt I ever will. I'm planning to also hodl bitcoin cash though. Its a bit of a wildcard. If I'd bought into bitcoin the same way I bought into Silver I'd probably be one of the ones with a castle now. But no regrets on that score
672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 09, 2017, 09:09:44 AM
Very interesting project. I'm not thinking of dumping airdropped bytes myself. In the last round I received a significant chunk less bytes than the transistion bot had expected, just curious why that was?

edit
Actually I think I figured it out. I didn't know I had to move my existing bytes so I've missed the 0.2  per gbyte for those Sad shame
673  Economy / Speculation / Re: About BCC (Bitcoin's Cancer Cell) on: August 07, 2017, 11:55:15 PM
Yes a scary vision. But its that or offchain solutions enabled by segwit and Lightning Networks, also cancer. What to do?

a datacentrecoin means the whole game is over. off chain hell still means there's a chain out there to escape to.

Maybe I'm naive but why can't we have big blocks and some kind of way of storing the blockchain in a distributed way across the network. Would that not allow us to have big blocks and avoid big data centres?

Or physical gold and silver  Wink

A couple of years ago I was much more in the spirit of bitcoin as the way to defeat Central Banks, the European Central Bank (why you have that name?). Now I'm just in it for the profit which is working out well but doesn't taste so sweet anymore. Money men taking over.
675  Economy / Speculation / Re: About BCC (Bitcoin's Cancer Cell) on: August 07, 2017, 11:37:41 PM
The big block vision is one where blocks become so huge that only a few datacenters will be able to operate nodes, leading to a centralization level akin to PayPal and credit cards.

Yes a scary vision. But its that or offchain solutions enabled by segwit and Lightning Networks, also cancer. What to do?
676  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Fun Poll for BTC vs BCC on: August 01, 2017, 10:36:08 PM
Many treat Bitcoin Cash as an alt, and BCH (BCC) as airdropped but I don't see it so simple. It is a fork therefore with 2 branches, the bitcoin cash coins were not airdropped, you bought or mined them when bitcoin was only one, and yet now they feature on two blockchains! Branch A could be thought of as Segwit coin and Branch B as big block coin. Both differ from original bitcoin but branch A differs the most even though people think of that as the 'real' bitcoin. The main thing branch A has going for it is perception that it is the real bitcoin through retaining the name and ticker symbol.

I'll HODL my bitcoin for now (both types) and await how it develops with interest.

The exciting news is coming so thick and fast these days it's wonderful!  And just look how well Dash is doing today - it's the only oasis of green in a big sea of red  Grin  Great work everybody!!

I was going to do a screenshot of coinmarket cap but by the time I got around to it IOTA had managed to turn green, spoiling the effect a bit but still its nice to see Dash in the green. I wonder if the market is starting to realise that Dash already has an onchain scaling solution in the works, while other projects suffer from no clear direction.
678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: July 17, 2017, 10:27:40 PM
I don't get this part: Greg said:"when the block rewards dwindled, miners would undercut each other's transaction fees until they all went bankrupt"

That makes absolutely no sense.  Miners don't compete with each other to serve via transaction fees, they do so by solving a mathematical equation.  They can set a minimum fee, and not accept lower, but it has NO affect on how often they win the block reward.  If Greg really said this, then his entire thinking is off.

Check this awsome commentary on reddit for the full politics surrounding the flawed economics and Segwit/BTC scaling, why they don't want to natively scale it etc.

TL;DR Version:
Blockchain loading isn't a linear function. You can get huge backlogs interspersed by smooth operation across the board on a stop-start basis and therefore the much vaunted "fee market" is an unrealistic illusion.

Yes makes no sense  Huh Huh Huh

However I think he also described Dash private send as snake oil. He's obviously a clueless noob   Grin

Otherwise that was a very interesting perspective on the reddit that tok linked

Chart Dash versus bitcoin

Dash is sitting at the top of a channel its been in since April (marked pink). Will it bounce down again? Intriguingly there is a possible inverse head and shoulders formation which could see Dash break out above the channel if it is confirmed and test or surpass the all time high versus bitcoin.
