My condolences to the bitcoin die hards. You're looking at more slow decline or best case stagnation with some random little pump and dumps during next months while we rock the shit on alts in the foreseeable future. Soome hefty gains happening right now.
Don't get stuck holding a bag. 100% portofolio in old bitcoin is risky business.

#toldyou

I think bitcoin is still king. but curious which alts you like?
1562  Economy / Speculation / Price prediction on: May 19, 2015, 10:49:13 PM
I [think/predict/know] that bitcoin price will [rise/fall] and will settle in the $[23,000] price range in the next [5 years].  Looking at [insert some random reason] and [insert some random news story] I know I'm right.

Thanks to MF Doom for template, saved me a bit of work  Tongue

This is nuts.

XBT Provider ETN is live and listed on NASDAQ OMX Stockholm as of today.

I just bought me a Bitcoin, via my brokerage account,
with one click, with no signup, with no delay.

Cheesy Shocked Grin

Sorry Bro, thats not a bitcoin.

Well I've dumped all my coins .. Hope youre right  Undecided

Come on? Really? Dont you even believe this trolls craps? The good things is the price is stable at the moment, you can buy them back at any time you want.

Well I've dumped all my coins .. Hope youre right  Undecided

you dump all your coins? how much coins did you have from the start?

I know most of are doing the same thing, to buy back in when its cheap but you never know what can happen.

As for people mentioning the price for $10 for bitcoin, I wouldnt get my hopes that far unless there are huge events that make it go that far.

Relax guys I haven't dumped anything! Lol

(Perhaps should have put a ,sarc tag or something.)

people here are in full stress it seems. with saying you have dumped your coins you hurt their feelings. i still think we'll see sub $200 so if you did dump you could buy back in cheaper.

Thats possible for sure but not for me. I'm going to hold and if it drops buy some more. All of which I then hold long term.

edit : However I may make purchases of things using bitcoin as way of helping the economy ;-)
1566  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peter Bofinger A Cashless Germany Bitcoin replacing Fiat in germany soon ? on: May 19, 2015, 09:06:49 AM
Germany will definately not adopt bitcoin, neither will any other large western nation. That is guaranteed.

The war on cash is real however. Bankers want to start forcing negative interest rates on us, to force consumers to spend instead of save, ie to borrow even more debt and become even more enslaved. This means your money will shrink if left in your account. If people have the option of avoiding negative interest rates by withdrawing cash and sticking it under the mattress that wont work. Even worse for the bank that would cause a run on the bank. So cash is there as a barrier to bankers forcing even more debt on us by these negative interest rates. This is why they want to remove cash.

If you notice there is a campaign in the media to make cash seem like it is old fashioned and not needed because it is inconvinient, or expensive to handle. These are lies, real reasons are as outlined above.

This will all be positive for stores of value like gold, silver and bitcoin, unless these are somehow outlawed. (won't suprise me if they try)

Edit: By cash I mean physical notes and coins. Electronic fiat will become the only money. (That is nothing similar to crypto)

support is failing at bottom of that channel, perhaps lower parallel will manifest somewhere near my lower dotted trendline ...

1570  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of the Bear Trend on: May 18, 2015, 08:21:26 PM
any thoughts on this elongated flat sideways boring trend?

Yes its gone a bit boring, (and range bound, thanks for comments bassclef). At the moment looks like both bears and bulls bored waiting with maybe neither side getting what they want. Sometimes boring flatness preceeds quite big moves though. Wouldn't entirely suprise me to see a move up towards $290 ish where upper red line is waiting to provide strong resistance. That would be an obvious place to me to try a short if you are that way inclined. However just as likely looks like it might drop out bottom of that channel and find support at some lower parallel line
1571  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: May 14, 2015, 11:17:00 PM
Hi rpietila I don't know much about Monero but will consider getting some, I respect your opinions. Only thing held me back so far is cryptsy doesn't list it. Maybe this is off topic or something so apologies if so but I wondered what you think of Dash? Personally I  like it, although I know it is not NSA proof it does seem to bring a lot more anonymity than bitcoin for example.
1572  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens to Bitcoin when free energy is available? on: May 14, 2015, 10:51:12 PM
In similar theme of free energy suppression. Mainstream science still failing to acknowledge role of electricity in space. Mainstream tells us particles reaching earth from the sun is a 'wind' when in fact it is a stream of charged particles, usually called an electric current. When electricity  and magnetism are considered suddenly there is no need to invoke dark matter, dark energy or any other shit like that. Just forces we already know and experience. Our planet is a capacitor in an electric circuit.

Great resources on this here, some of it truely mind blowing.

1573  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens to Bitcoin when free energy is available? on: May 14, 2015, 09:58:39 PM
In case people are wondering OP probably means exotic regenerative energy technologies.
You can find many examples on the website http://pesn.com/

To his answer his question, the initial arrival of such technologies will not affect the use of money much. Mining will still cost money, even if the electricity is really cheap, because you will still need to make the hardware. The difficulty will adjust accordingly.

In the long run, decades is my guess, money will become practically obsolete though, because "free energy" will make everything incredibly cheap. The bigger effect IMHO will be on the minds of people, having realized how much they have been deceived, and realizing that scarcity is artificial.

Thanks for that link, looks interesting. Although why do websites like that always look a bit retro naff?

I can easily believe free energy is being supressed. Free energy (at least as I understand it doesnt mean anything about disobey laws of thermodynamics it just refers to endless abundance of ambiant energy/electricity around us.

Anyway with regards to bitcoin who knows? Id guess free energy would make money less important. Probably main reason it is repressed.

<troll crap>

All the zero activity newbie accounts spamming the forum are one crazed poster - notlambchop. All of them.

His primary account was banned for repeatedly making child pornography references on the forum (after 10,000 posts of the same tired spam in 8 months to give you an idea how much time this unemployed disturbed individual has to waste).

His numerous alt accounts were also banned independently to give you an idea how much the actual folk in here enjoy his company.

He is so desperate that he now posts anti-bitcoin bile and filth through newbie accounts.

Just click ignore and don't engage. Report any criminal posts until he gets doxed.

Maybe he's the guy that bought a pizza for 10,000 BTC Huh

You're obviously spending a lot of time researching my work. so I suppose thats a kind of a compliment really. Thanks sweetie  Kiss
1576  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whoa, who let the Bears out ... ? on: May 14, 2015, 02:20:44 PM
Ripples (xrp) are 100% created by RippleLabs (or whatever they are called these days), ie not mined or minted in any decentralised or fair way. I wouldn't buy xrp as investment. Bitcoin is still finding support along rising trendlines. Its all good.

Do you ever get tired rehearsing that dribble about Ripple? I see so many people make fear posts when Ripple is mentioned. It gets boring.

Do I ever get tired of that? Nah not really
1577  Economy / Speculation / Re: Low volume trades, No one wants this shitcoin anymore on: May 14, 2015, 02:09:15 PM
That bubble seemed pretty real to me !

In response to above comments  US$ is not real 'money' it is credit/debt notes which can be created from thin air. US $$$ are created by billions even trillions at whim of the fed. Don't give me this shit about US$ being real money. US$ used to try to to be real money with promise to redeem in gold. Since US went bankrupt in the 70's we've had fake money rammed down our throats. Now they are going to try and even ban the bits of paper so all will be controlled by the governments. Real money holds value due to scarcity, US$ has declined in value 98% since it was created. In fact central banks deliberately try to devalue it through inflation ('to help the economy'). US$ .. Real money .  Angry

Any time I see a post by a budding financial analyst, I do a quick "is_100%_useless?" check: look at Anon's past predictions ~top of last bubble. Let's do that:

[ ... ]
Been a little while since I posted on this thread, however heres the fork I'm now following on my blog.

Yep. Confirmed Cheesy

I've NEVER claimed to be a financial analyst. My blog is my own work and yes my own bad calls are sometimes or often made. If you had read my blog at that time instead of cherry picking one chart you would have seen that the fork I was following worked very well up to the peak. Also I stated many times that the timing of when it would pop was impossible to predict. Anyway I don't know why I bother communicating with an obvious troll such as yourself.

Adios to this thread too !

Reply to OP

1579  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will be the price of bitcoin when it has almost reached everyone as fiat? on: May 14, 2015, 01:48:35 PM
Bitcoin will function just as optional payment/investment option. It won't replace or come even close to fiat currency. Bitcoin is unique in its own way.

Store of value ?

Yeah, you're right. Storing value is a very important feature.

But to a certain extent it belongs in the same category as investments as most of the times value is stored with the intention to realize gains. (price going up)

Storing value is vital in money for future spending. Although we are supposed to be consumers and not save so that we remain debt slaves in fiat system. In reality you might want to reserve your spending power for some future purchase instead of borrowing at interest, at least thats what I want in my money.
1580  Economy / Speculation / Re: Information shared by early adopters will bring a great deal of wealth on: May 14, 2015, 12:40:22 PM
I wanted to share with anyone starting on these forums that there is enough information here to make an average person rich.

I started out as a BTC newbie in 2013, when I started devouring the information presented in Bitcointalk.
It led to my first large purchase and subsequently a better understanding of the worlds financial systems and how they affect me.

In the process of reading information on the forums, I've also been burned; buying at tops, selling too early, losing money on fly by night exchanges & alts.
In my mind the benefits of all this is a way of not only educating myself but understanding my own psychology. Greed can sometimes make you do things that are irrational, no matter how astute or smart one may be.

I'm not going to name specific members who's posts I believe are "money", but as a starting point I'd start reading posts of active members registered in 2010 and 2011. There are certain thoughts shared by early adopters which brought them to this place, and those kind enough to share them could potentially bring us all a great deal of wealth.

Great sentiment  Cool
