701  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Unusual issues with Trezor Suite on: January 16, 2023, 02:09:14 AM
@Pmalek, I don't recall having that issue on my system; Windows, wireless keyboard and mouse, but it's a desktop rig, not a laptop.  I have Trezor Suite installed on a laptop running Debian/Cinnamon, but haven't had any issues with a wireless usb mouse on that system, either.

I assume you've updated the Trezor to the latest firmware? Also, I'm curious if you have tried accessing your Trezor with Electrum, and does it have the same issue?

From social media hehehe. This idea for a new horror movie. The Chargering.

Almost an unreal outcome but I have seen slightly weirder things happen. Almost turned the game off at halftime, glad I didn't.

Lol, the Chargering.  That's a good one.  What a crazy game, I watched the first three quarters on the shuttle bus on the way back from the 9er's game, and caught the end on the radio while driving home from the park-and-ride.  It looked like an embarrassment throughout the first half.  The announcers kept reminding us that Lawrence hadn't ever thrown and interception in the first quarter, and in his first post-season appearance he throws three.  And then a fourth...

I can't remember if I've ever seen a team come back from four turnovers in the first half.  That was an amazing comeback.

Put a small bet on Giants to cover +3.5 against the Vikings... this is purely based on the contrasting ability of these teams to cover the spread this season.

I'd like to see a Bills/49ers or Bills/Eagles Super Bowl.

Bills - 9ers is what I'm expecting, but I'm scared if we have to travel to Philadelphia.  Not that I think we can't beat the Eagles, but historically we haven't done well in the eastern time zone, and Philadelphia in particular has been tough.

As for today's games; I'm hoping for the Vikings to win, but I agree that the Giant's will likely make a good game of it.  I expect the Cowboys to beat the Buccaneers tomorrow, so if the Vikings win, they'll have to come to SF, and the Cowboys will have to go to Philadelphia.  I have more confidence in the Cowboys beating the Eagles than the Giants.  If the Eagles get beaten next week the NFC Championship game will be in San Francisco.  That's my dream scenario.

^  Just looking at the stats would make you think City isn't dominating the match but they somewhat are optics wise.  They have most of the ball and they are controlling the tempo well.  It's just they seem a little bit sluggish.  And that damn ref...  Is it just me or is the ref not calling fouls commited by United?  :/

Edit:  0 - 1 City.  Finally. Time for another one then United get one in.  Grin

I agree that City looks kind of flat.  After last week's performance I wasn't expecting much from them, but after 70 or so minutes I figured I wasn't getting any points from my prediction.  But now look at it!

ManU just scored two in a matter of minutes!  2-1 United is my prediction, so now I need no one else to score!

Can you tell me please, is anywhere full guide for electrum command line using with description of all commands ( like in case with Bitcoin Core) ? Because electrum.org website has a pretty poor description...

Yes, the list of commands can be obtained by referencing Electrum's --help command.  For example:

From the command line:
Code:
electrum --offline --help

Or, from the GUI console:
Code:

Also another one question - can electrum be operated with Bitcoin Core's commands?

Yes and no, but not exactly.  Some commands will work for both Bitcoin Core and Electrum, but that's merely coincidence.  For example getinfo is a command recognized by both programs.

I guess I misunderstood your question originally (and apparently I wasn't the only one.)  I was under the impression you were trying to verify that you downloaded the official and authentic version of Electrum from the official source.  The link I shared in my previous post is a guide to confirm you have the legitimate release, not a guide to sign and verify messages within Electrum.

Hey guys, in case you haven't seen it, jeremypwr posted a Wild Card Weekend prediction contest on behalf of Sportsbet.  It's free to participate and you can win up to 3mBTC worth of free bets on Sportsbet.io.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5433647.msg61568696#msg61568696

Any interest in an NFL playoff pool? Basically an entry could be like $25 bucks or whatever ( I don't even care if we did $5 worth of bitcoin each, any amount would be some fun action for the playoffs)... each team/person makes picks on each game all the way down to the winner of the Super Bowl.  Each round would have a certain amount of points that you get for correctly picking the winner.  Player with the most points at the end, wins the pot.

If anyone is interested...

That sounds like fun.  If you plan to include Wild Card Weekend you better hurry.  The games start tomorrow at 1:25pm Pacific Time.

Speaking of tomorrow's games, my brother got two tickets for the 9er's game tomorrow so I'll be attending live!  The last time I was at a game was at Candlestick Park I don't know how many years ago, so I'm pretty excited to see the "new" stadium and watch the 9ers take care of the Seahawks again.
708  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How To solved Electrum Signature verifiyed on macOS Monterey version 12.6.2 on: January 12, 2023, 02:27:01 PM
7 times failed then connect to the server, connection was not stable hopefully conflicted with the system, Confused bug my OS or Electrum.

How process runs i verified electrum for OS?

Here's a guide that includes instructions for your OS: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240594.0

As for the connection to the server, your screenshot shows that your Electrum client is connected to a server.  As Abdussamad mentioned, the connection indicator is the litte circle in the lower right hand corner of the app window.  In the screenshot your circle is green, which means you are connected to a server via clear net.  A Tor connection would turn the circle blue, and if you aren't connected at all the circle would be red.
709  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallets - Ledger vs Trezor, Other recommendations? on: January 11, 2023, 11:15:59 PM
#fun fact
But when you recommend Coldcard, there is something in common with the username you used, that is, this version of Colcard is named "mk4" on the board, are you the developer? or mk4 is just the serial name taken from the Toyota Supra mk4 which happens to be the same as your username.

Hah. Mk4 can mean many things — a car model(Volkswagen Golf Mk4, etc), a videogame(Mortal Kombat 4), an Iron Man armor version(Mark IV), etc. Coldcard's mk4 is just one of many similar names. Tongue

My personal favorite is the Ruger MkII, but the MkIV is nice too.  Tongue

Really now, the ColdCard is a great weapon tool for the bitcoin maximalist, I've really been enjoying mine.

The other one I would recommend for the bitcoin maximalist is the Foundation Passport.  I recently got one myself but haven't used it too much just yet, however I can easily see it replacing my ColdCard as my favorite hardware wallet.

The Trezor Model T is also great and I would recommend it to those who need to hold alts on their hardware wallets.  Mine has been relegated to holding XMR and DOGE, since I've been exclusively using the ColdCard for bitcoin since last summer.

Those are the three that I would recommend, and I specifically recommend avoiding the Ledger models.
710  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Guys, what electrum server you run on: January 11, 2023, 10:59:57 PM
Holy sh!t, even I don't have anywhere near those specs.

So what are the resource requirements for vanilla electrs? Hopefully not anything more than Bitcoin Core (minus all that storage and bandwidth).

The original electrs is meant to have kinda same requirements as the bitcoin node:

The motivation behind this project is to enable a user to self host an Electrum server, with required hardware resources not much beyond those of a full node.

But the page doesn't tell much else than

Low CPU & memory usage (after initial indexing)

I don't have exact specs (and I'm at work, so I can't check at the moment,) but electrs is pretty light to run.  I have it running with mainnet, and as far as I can tell it's only using about 20GB of disk space and hardly ever makes a blip on ram.  I'm sure it used more ram while synchronizing, but I don't recall it ever causing the machine to react slowly while doing other things.  That particular mainnet node is a Dell SFF box with an I5 processor and 16GB of ram.

I also have electrs running on my testnet node (a RPi4 with 8GB of ram and a 128GB microSD card for storage,) and I believe it's using less than 3GB of space on that device.  Electrs is obviously one of the lightest SPV servers out there, but it's been plenty reliable for me and my small circle of family and friends who've been using it.
711  Economy / Reputation / Re: I've been hacked (Electrum 4.3.2) on: January 10, 2023, 08:45:39 PM
As the first part above was just the thoughts pouring in to my mind that I had to post it immediately.

Here's some clarifications.

Again I am using Electrum 4.3.2. That wallet has been telling me to update itself but I neglected that info thinking the wallet is safe.

The 12 word pass phrase was never written on any document online. I wrote it down directly into my personal notebook. The password to it is also unique for which I have never used anywhere else.

The problem is my system had no anti-virus or whatsoever, it does have windows defender but now, I think that shitty app isn't doing anything. I got zero ping that someone is accesing my system. If I haven't been informed by Coinomize team that the funds were transferred, I wouldn't have notice it since the Electrum wallet was last openned four hours ago after the funds were transferred. Meaning, the wallet is offline.

I know all of you will not believe me but I will do everything I can to repay the lost funds even if it takes a while.

The Yo!Mix team and Coinomize team will probably post a scam accusation soon and rightfully so since I have no means to prove my innocence. I will accept whatever this community would think of me as I know this is all my fault for being so careless and stupid.

I've been in this forum since 2017 and I'm truly heart broken that this happened.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I hope you are able to recover the funds and carry on with your business.

Everybody seems to want to jump to the conclusion that your system was hacked, or you suffered due to some malware or virus, but it's been my experience that most of the time these things are a result of carelessness.  I'm not convinced that you've been hacked or infected with malware.

You said you wrote down the seed phrase in your personal notebook, correct?  Did you also write the seed phrase for your hardware wallet in the same notebook?  How securely is that notebook stored?  Did you leave it out somewhere where someone could have seen it?  You seem to be confident that the funds in your Ledger wallet are safe, how can you be so sure?  You mentioned that you only have alts stored in the Ledger, it may be just a matter of time before the thief finds those accounts too.

Until you can answer the question of how this happened to your hot Electrum wallet, you should assume that all your seed phrases and all your funds are compromised.

Good luck.

P.S.  Some people will tell you to stop using Windows...  I don't care what you use for an operating system, no OS will save you from yourself.
712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 08, 2023, 02:04:15 PM

Well this is definitely unprecedented and an anticlimactic end to the season.   If you two are in agreement that we should proceed with a tie then that's the way we'll do it.  Send me your addresses and I'll get the funds sent out.  Congrats to both of you.

713  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Signing a transaction using Electrum without using a USB stick on: January 06, 2023, 08:02:26 PM
If your goal is to avoid USB sticks due the risk of transferring viruses or malware, you can also use QR codes and cameras to transfer the data.  Both machines will need to be equipped with webcams, obviously.
714  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Guys, what electrum server you run on: January 06, 2023, 07:20:10 PM
I've been running ElectrumX for a couple of years now, and it's been great.  Very fast and robust, I've never had any issues with it loading wallets with tons of transactions.

Last year I built another node (mostly for experimentation and use with mempool) and chose Romanz Electrs for that one.  Now I have Mempool and LND tied into the electrs server, and it too has been running without issue for several months.  Electrs is a bit slower to load wallets with tons of transactions, but not so slow as to be bothersome.  In fact, it's barely noticeable, really.  I don't broadcast my servers for public use, they're primarily for my personal use so I've never encountered a scenario where they were cumbersomely slow.

I've played with EPS also, but I didn't care for it too much.  It would be okay for occasional use but not as a daemon for other apps to reference.

One server you haven't mentioned is Blockstream Esplora, which is the branch of electrs server used as the backend for Blockstream's block explorer, and the one recommended by the Mempool.space developers.  I have no experience with it, but I've heard that it's more robust than Romanz electrs, but it also requires more resources.

I've also never used Fulcrum, so I have no experience to relay about that.

For personal use I would say Romanz Electrs is probably the most practical.  It doesn't need a ton of resources, it's easy enough to set up, and has been very reliable in my experience.
715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 06, 2023, 05:29:39 PM
My advice to both is to wait until the NFL officially announces their plans tomorrow and then communicate with each other about what you believe is best.

I agree with this, the news is expected before the end of business today, so around 5pm Eastern Time.

The obvious and also simplest solution is to declare the Cows champions and treat the canceled game as an injury...it sucks, but it can happen.

This was my thinking yesterday when I made my post, since it seems that Yahoo has already declared the Cows as champs.  But if the league decides the game is forfeit, or calls it a tie, I think it's okay to let the South Park and Hueristic decide how to proceed.
716  Economy / Lending / Re: 17$ loan , honeygain account for collateral on: January 05, 2023, 06:04:00 PM
I am sure i will payback then why lender want to sell

Your assurances are worth less than that shitty NFT account you are offering as collateral.  No one is going to lend a penny to a newbie without assurance that they can recover their funds if or when you default on the loan.

This looks more like an effort for sell of some crappy, worthless NFTs than a loan.  My suggestion is you sell your NFT account to get the funds that you need, no lender want to be left holding that bag.
717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 05, 2023, 05:56:12 PM
^  Yup.  I actually have high regard for Eddie Howe and I actually said I fancy him managing a club like Arsenal or a club in the same tier as Arsenal.  I think it was 3 - 4 years ago.  Some time before covid.

So yeah..  Just amazed how he's evolved.  With Bournemouth score lines would usually be 3 - 2, 2 - 1, mostly over 2.5 goals matches.  With Newcastle, the defense is just solid.  And with that oiler money backing the club, they're gonna be a force that's gonna be hard to deal with.

With only a few signings, the team already appears to be balanced and ready to compete for top four and six at the end of the season; when the oil money is put to use, they may well turn into title contenders next season; they have the resources and a good coach who plays beautiful attacking football. From being the poorest-funded squad in 20 years to one of the wealthiest in the world. How quickly time passes. Cool

Newcastle will be in the running but hard to day if they're def gonna be title contenders.  City is still strong, Arsenal seems like they're the real deal, Liverpool could find a resurgence and don't forget Graham Potter and Chelsea after a summer buying spree.  Lots of good teams in the EPL...  There's also United and the Spurs who are always there for a top 4 - top 6 scrap.

But would love to see it.  It's been a while since an English Manager won the league.

Newcastle is starting to look like the dark horse the season, their loss column is telling the most important story.  They, and Arsenal have only had one loss so far which seems rather impressive for any team that isn't named Manchester City.

Of course we were saying similar things about Brighton a few weeks ago, and they've been slowly dropping positions on the table since.  If you do want Newcastle in the top 4, maybe we shouldn't be jinxing them, lol.

This round is one of the worst weekly performance I've ever had in the current season Undecided

It's been a bad week of predictions for me too, but it looks like I'm not alone.  Nine matches into the week and the highest score is 11 points, so the saving grace is that I've only dropped on position in the table.  There's still time for me get hosed, so I'm still holing my breath, lol.

If official NFL scoring changes impact the result of your Week 17 matchup, we will retroactively adjust Week 18 matchups to reflect the change.

Payouts for Private and Public Prize Leagues will not be processed until a final decision is made by the NFL on the Bills-Bengals game status.

League commissioners in private free leagues have the choice to make manual changes through their commissioner tools but we encourage commissioners to wait until the NFL makes a final decision on the game's status.

If your league has any active Week 18 playoff matchups, you should set your lineup as usual.

The Week 17 Bills-Bengals game is currently in a postponed state. As such, all stats accumulated hold as is for now (as per official NFL gamebook).

https://sports.yahoo.com/week-17-18-fantasy-football-status-updates-011003705.html

Sorry I didn't see that, I should have checked.  No worries here, as long as you guys are okay waiting.

It looks like Saturday's and Sunday's games are still on the schedule, but I don't see any indication of whether the Bills and Bangles game will be resumed.
719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 05, 2023, 02:14:13 PM
This is why I think it needs to be shifted to flag football or some variation of that until they reach college.  I don't know how this will work, but I just don't think there will be any other choice.
This would be the most sensible choice, however so much money moves at the college level that it is difficult for me to see how this transition could play out, but at some point it has to happen as underage football players should have no business hitting each other at full speed when their bodies are still developing, and while the ability the body has to recover at that age is incredible, at the same time injuries slowly begin to accumulate, so it would be preferable this process started as late as possible, now it would be optimal if this process never started at all but on sports like football or boxing this is inevitable.
Yeah I'm not sure how this could all play out but something needs to happen.  I had no business play tackle football in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.  As a running back I was getting mini-concussions pretty much every single practice and game and multiple times each practice and game.  That's scary.  The guy who discovered CTE said something like just three years of youth football increases once chance of suicide by like 40% ( or something very high like that).  Maybe it's flag until you get to Jr and Sr year in high school, that could be a decent start?

There's actually a good argument against this;  I don't recall when or where I read it, but many years ago there was a study about injuries in football, and it suggested that high school and college football players that didn't play tackle football in Little League or didn't play tackle football in Jr. High were more prone to injuries than the ones who had been playing throughout their childhoods.  Obviously the intentions are good, but often times when people meddle with things they don't understand it only makes things worse.

Well, it looks like Yahoo has made the final decision for our league:  Congrats to our Champion South Park, and our 2nd place Hueristic.

When ever you guys have a chance, PM me your addresses and I'll send you the loot.

No is covid shaming anyone here?  Is there the typical twitter fight between both sides of this discussion haven't really been on social to see what gross things people are saying about this.

I'm not suggesting that anyone here is shaming anyone else, just speaking generically.  It does seem like it's rather difficult to get decenting opinions from experts through the normal media channels and on social media.  Anyone who isn't fully on board with the vaccination recommendations is dismissed as a conspiracy nut.  I may be or may not be a conservative, a conspiracy nut, a right wing zealot...  but all I'm asking for is information that isn't politically tainted.  This is a health issue, not a political issue, but it seems impossible to find information that isn't filtered through some political agenda.

Anyway, on a positive note, today's reports about Damar Hamlin's condition suggest he's improving.  That's the most important thing right now.
