721  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Steemit On Gambling Platform. on: March 15, 2019, 01:55:23 PM
I would refrain from investing and gambling at this website, here's an interesting post that calls out Steem-bet's shady practices.

https://steemit.com/dtube/@broncnutz/8sjyqlo8 (STEEM-BET IS A SCAM! **BEWARE FRAUD** A lesson in Steem Blockchain Integrity and Transparency.)

It's not provably fair and they've been pretty misleading about the tokens they are issuing.

Any response to these claims @yurimir?
722  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitcoinTransit .com worth developing? on: March 15, 2019, 12:53:07 PM
Actually designing something in the works now. Do you think a bitcoin ride share service is viable?

How are you going to compete against Uber, that spends billions a year on R&D?

Let the man dream Tongue

For all we know he gets a couple of million in VC funding, not likely but possible.
The domain is actually pretty good, I don't know what elda34b is saying. The name sounds pretty catchy to me.
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Campaigns Comparative Spreadsheets Here! Find the Best Bounties! on: March 15, 2019, 10:57:16 AM
Dang, if I had some merit left I'd definitely give you some!
Those spreadsheets are extremely well-researched and you've clearly put a lot of time into compiling them, kudos!

I'll bookmark this page and gift you some merit when my source merit replenishes.
724  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The Million Crypto Homepage - millioncryptohomepage.com on: March 15, 2019, 10:31:51 AM
@mocacinno

Oh yeah, I do remember that one. Some people really have Bitcoin symbols in their eyes when they're creating their new website.
As you can see from looking at my list, this idea has been tried so many times.

I know that the person who made Cryptopiece really puts a lot of time in it, trying to sell advertising on many different platforms.
I think he also has a couple of threads here in the Services section.

Without extensive promoting, you're really not going to sell any pixels.
725  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: tell us about your latest gambling experiences on: March 15, 2019, 10:17:27 AM
Well, I started out this week by winning around 0.40 ETH on roulette. I'd put that money away and yesterday I gambled a little bit more with like 0.08 ETH.
I ended up winning again, but got a bit greedy and lost most of it in the end.

I'm probably going to take another break from gambling for a couple of months. I've had fun, but it's a huge waste of money and time for me personally.
726  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto Currency Cartoon - Crypto Zoo on: March 15, 2019, 09:54:13 AM
What kind of microphone are you using? The sound quality of your voice isn't really great to be honest.
I don't mean your voice itself, it's the quality of the recording that's lacking.

Maybe there's something you could do with Audacity to improve it a little bit? Sounds kind of 'tinny'.

It could likely be my voice :p I am using a turtle beach mic that was like $50 and OBS software.

No, it's definitely not that, your voice is pretty good. I would really try to edit the recording with Audacity and try to add some more depth to it.
Should really be fairly easy to do. Plus Audacity is free and open-source.

Here are some good tutorials on how to do that:

727  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The Million Crypto Homepage - millioncryptohomepage.com on: March 15, 2019, 09:19:36 AM
Well, there have been other people who've tried this with crypto, most were not successful.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1945500.0 (https://milliondollarbitcoinpage.com/)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1116889.0 (website already down)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2445215.0 (Website down)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=461630.0 (website down)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=787993.0 (website for sale)

Here's the only successful one:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2434249.0 (https://cryptopiece.com/)

It's only successful because the creator has done a lot of advertising probably.

I don't want to discourage you, it could work, but you really need something unique, as mocacinno has mentioned.
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Karpeles Acquited - wtf? on: March 15, 2019, 08:47:51 AM
It's extremely weird that he was acquitted, especially when you hear that Japan has a conviction rate of around 99%.

Quote
This is an unprecedented case given that the Japanese prosecutors are very powerful and the country’s conviction rate is 99.8 percent. Karpeles told CNN that he was ‘happy’ to be judged not guilty for the most serious charges.
Source: https://u.today/mt-gox-ceo-mark-karpeles-not-going-to-jail-after-being-acquitted-of-most-charges

Don't know what I think of it, in the end he did already serve some time, as @figmentofmyass mentions.
I just hope he doesn't start a new exchange now, let's hope his name is at least forever tarnished.
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Germany - green light for Bitbond to issue the first digital bonds!!! on: March 14, 2019, 06:26:35 PM
It's great to hear that some European countries are finally explicitly allowing this sort of stuff.
Now I just hope that even more European countries will follow suit and take Germany's example on this.
730  Other / Meta / Re: What topics do you want to see here, and where should they be posted? on: March 14, 2019, 11:21:50 AM
If you want to participate on Bitcointalk in hard-mode, try to post a serious topic in Altcoin Discussion and see how many responses you get there.
Almost guaranteed that your topic is just buried, if you're lucky you might get one or two responses.

The only topics that work there are those that have clickbait titles and talk about some sort of price speculation related topic or bounty hunting.

what would you like to see discussed in the Bitcoin Talk forum that doesn't appear regularly?  We can skip the underworld topics like bounty and ICOs as well.

The topics I always find most interesting are those that talk about innovative new projects made by the members of this forum.
Could be anything really, someone making an interesting cryptocurrency-related art project or someone who's developing an interesting application.

They do appear sometimes, especially in Project Development, but even there you usually find stuff that's already been done before.
731  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for new partner on my crypto-site on: March 14, 2019, 11:07:22 AM
@Lucius

Yeah I've used faucets in the past, so I have enough experience with them to know that they're really not a good way to spend your time.
There are tons of different options to get your hands on some cryptocurrency without having to resort to using faucets.

Wouldn't it be better to just try and find a small freelance job, where you work in exchange for cryptocurrency?

Yes those articles are low-quality garbage, just about every article I click on has just a couple of lines of text and is filled with spelling mistakes & other grammatical errors.

Example:

732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thoughts on Video game gambling addiction? on: March 14, 2019, 10:37:24 AM
In my country they've just banned the use of loot boxes in video games (Belgium).
I've gotta say that I'm pretty glad that they did this, too many children are slowly becoming addicted to gambling because of this.

Now, I have no idea whether they can enforce this for all games, I think there's still a fair number of mobile games that have these gambling mechanics in place.
Some big studios have made adjustments though, but it also means that some games will not be available here anymore.
Your minister of justice is only concerned about children and how they have been too confronted with loot boxes, he feels it is dangerous for the mental health of the kids and however has attached a fine to be paid by those companies who fail to comply.

I am also happy about this because this game that leads to gambling addition is not in any way good for children and exposing them to such games at early age will be a terrible mistake to any nation. It is good that your country has been able to curb this and I hope other countries can learn from this.

Well and he's right about that. I can imagine that exposing children to 'gambling' from an early age could permanently alter their brain chemistry.
I mean it's really not good for a developing brain to experience these kinds of dopamine rushes that you tend to get from gambling.

That and I think some parents might have had their credit cards used by their children to pay for in-game items.

Everything is back online, including player stats.

Good to hear that Tongue
That didn't take too long and I think it must've changed my luck.

Won a nice amount yesterday with ETH roulette Cheesy
735  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for new partner on my crypto-site on: March 13, 2019, 12:47:30 PM
The design isn't too bad, but if you scroll a bit further down and look at the actual content you'll see a few red flags.
All I'm seeing is: Faucets faucets faucets.

Why this is red flag, you do not like faucets and consider them waste of time? For some users faucets are good start, they can get some free coins and learn how to make transactions, which wallet to use and some other useful things. If they make some bad steps in that time, and lost / get hacked,  it is better to pay to that mistake with their time, then with invested money.

Although the prevailing opinion is that faucets are waste of time and you need to click all day to get 100 satoshi, this is not completely correct. Most popular microwallet, FaucetHub is pay around 16+ bitcoins every month to faucet users / owners, which is not small money.

Well, if the majority of the content on that website is about faucets, yes I do consider that a red flag.
Also, look at the text excerpts next to those images, it's just low-quality garbage if I'm being completely honest.

Faucets these days are not good for new users, they're filled with potentially harmful advertisements and new users would have to waste days to get any sort of testing done.

If you're new to cryptocurrency, just buy like $10 worth and use that for testing, fully expecting to lose it.
736  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Using steem for property archive storage on: March 13, 2019, 11:47:26 AM
So did Ethereum when it started - don't be so quick to dismiss the work of good people. We don't need 'more of the same thing' - we need to reinforce what already exists. Building something just because you can sounds like a waste of time. You first have to find out if there is a need.

I don't know, I would say that the groundwork for such a system is already there on Steem.
Building a new interface for it is basically peanuts compared to building it from the ground up.

I'm not entirely dismissing these other projects, but I'd really want to see them being used before going forward with them.
737  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for new partner on my crypto-site on: March 13, 2019, 11:24:56 AM
I don't see any major issues with the domain or design, and I'm sure there are plenty of aspiring writers that would be happy to work with you.  Good luck on your project.  Stick with it and keep learning!

The design isn't too bad, but if you scroll a bit further down and look at the actual content you'll see a few red flags.

All I'm seeing is: Faucets faucets faucets.

Okay, maybe that's why he's looking for writers in the first place, but I would seriously suggest to remove all the freebie-related content.
It just doesn't look good.
738  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Make a system for newbies to pay a fee for creating a sales thread. on: March 13, 2019, 11:15:41 AM
I'm personally not in favor of this idea, it would needlessly punish those people who have a genuine service to offer.
Maybe I'm a little bit biased because I'm currently helping out a newbie with a thread in the Services section.

It's just that I think most of the responsibility is on the buyer in the first place.
It's pretty easy to avoid getting scammed, you can usually spot the scam threads from a mile away.

Plus, it would go against the libertarian nature of this forum, which is the main reason why I've joined and stayed in the first place.

Interesting concept, it does seem like this could actually work in the way you're describing it.
Though I would suggest to build a completely new interface around it, that uses the Steem blockchain.

Steem - is not built for that, even if doing something like what you are talking about is technically possible.

Well, that doesn't mean that someone can't build a new interface on Steem specifically for this purpose.

All the projects you've listed have way less marketcap than Steem, so it would actually make sense to use Steem for this.
