721  Other / Meta / Re: "Trust" system is shit !!! "Trust me !!!" on: August 28, 2018, 11:08:13 PM
We are relying on it because replacing default trust isn't going to happen soon.
Soon? I doubt it will ever happen just like migrating completely to the new forum.

And yeah, the Trust System here sucks balls, its not the system but some *people* that caused it to be bad. They make the system be so bad. A lot of people have ego issues here, on a forum. So if you call "X" DT member, a dog, you might get tagged for that  Roll Eyes. Some people act as if its decentralized, but its more centralized than it being decentralized. Wonder how many people are pissed at me for saying this. Don't deal with any body based on their trust, it might not be the best idea for you.
Well, that's what happens if you give control over to an individual/group of individuals. Either way, I don't really want to complain. I have catered my trust-settings to trust like 2 people and don't even judge anybody by the random DT ratings left on their profile.
722  Other / New forum software / Re: ...Question... on: August 28, 2018, 10:14:48 PM
Will it be more convenient if we will not be anonymous here on epochtalk? I guess it is not some kind of KYC that you also have to pass some proofs but I also think KYC will be an option for that.
No, I wouldn't be convenient if not anonymous on any forum on the internet which deals with cryptocurrencies.

Log in through LinkedIn, Facebook, Gmail and other options yhat maybe possible just to know the persons true identity
You think it's hard to create a fake Gmail/Facebook account?

I think this is a good idea, in which we will know each and everyone here.
And also, I think the scams will be prevented and not only that if this thing happens that person can be sued.
Giving up our identity online is not worth any money, at least the way I look at it. I wouldn't reveal my personal details to anyone even if offered a million bucks. Not that I do something wrong but it's against the ecosystem the forum is designated for.
723  Other / New forum software / Re: What is the current status of epochtalk ? on: August 28, 2018, 10:10:56 PM
Millions went to this project, while there is no product. just github files keep getting updated from day to day to kill time.
GitHub files aren't updated to kill time. If you look at the commits, every commit message has some information along with it which explains what exactly the files are updated for. What scares me is, the last commit  was around July 7th https://github.com/epochtalk/epochtalk/pull/457/commits/91599ad083e33fc0314628fdae9c88f297894760 and not sure if the website is being actively developed.

I mean, activity definitely seems low. But looking at dev history, there may be private repos they are working on.

IF Epoch (the database layer) is related to EpochTalk (which I'm assuming it would be) the last commit wasn't July. It was commited to 12 days ago.

https://github.com/epochtalk/epoch
Yes, you're correct. The last commit was indeed 13 days ago...I don't know what's stopping theymos from getting it done for just once and then migrate to the new forum completely. Looking at the new developments coming to this forum, I doubt he's planned a release anytime soon.
724  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1 year after Segwit. Have things improved for casinos and gambling sites? on: August 28, 2018, 10:05:39 PM
Now, if you asked this same question about the Lightning Network, then you would see a significant response, but the Lightning Network is still in it's early days and most casinos have not incorporated that into their payment software.
Frankly speaking, most of the casinos haven't even managed to implement a proper automated withdrawal structure. Implementing Lightning Network should be way ahead of their priorities.

well to be honest since I mainly do sportsbets then I don't care much about transactions and fees , all the sites that I use for my betting have 0 withdrawal fee so even if fee went to 20$ it still won't affect much
also I make like one or two deposits a month where I have to pay the fee , but the fee is really tiny compared to the deposits that I make
Paying $20 as fees for smaller transactions would be basically the death of bitcoins. How the fuck anyone is cool with paying $20 for a bitcoin transaction?

anyways if network got busy and spammed like it was before I guess dice and casino players are the ones who will have struggles since they tend to deposit and withdraw a lot and usually the sites don't pay for the fee
Pretty sure they won't pay $20 per transaction just to make sure the players receive their withdrawals on time.
725  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mining project on: August 28, 2018, 09:54:04 PM
Anyone here can make telegram bot?
Or cloud mining website.?
I have perfect vision and perfect idea all i need is
Someone whos good to make website or telegram bot !

How much money do you have to invest if not the skills? Developers don't come for free and to turn your idea into reality is more complicated than you think. I don't know how you can predict your vision is perfect when you haven't even shared the idea with 2 people.
726  Other / Meta / Re: "Trust" system is shit !!! "Trust me !!!" on: August 28, 2018, 09:48:20 PM
Just quoting a few replies from the experienced members,

There are definitely flaws in the trust system
I'd agree that the trust system could potentially be abused rather easily.
The trust system is meaningless when green trusted accounts can be sold, and the trust is transferred to the new owner.
A member with a green trust doesn't mean you can trust him blindly.
The trust system isn't perfect

I wonder why are we ever relying on a broken system so much that we think it's the only cure for all the problems on the forum. I shouldn't complain though, for I don't have a better alternative to suggest.
727  Economy / Services / Re: Jdope's signature campaign management on: August 28, 2018, 06:31:11 AM
The rules specifically say that bumps and updates are limited to once every 24 hours, did i bump my thread before this one?
The original post does not count as a bump or an update, i am only allowed to bump again in 24 hours.
So according to your logic posting a thread and instantly bumping it isn't counted as against the rules? Well, that fuckin dissolves the entire point of bumping the thread.

Please read the rules and understand them, don't just read.
I'm very sure I understand them. Had I reported your "bump", I'm pretty sure it would have been deleted. I'll see you around.
728  Other / Meta / Re: FAO MODS: Why not charge a fee to recover hacked accounts? on: August 27, 2018, 11:56:11 PM
I remember Hilariousandco(Global Mod) saying that Cyrus once mentioned that account recoveries are a hectic task, and a lot of investigation is involved. These account recoveries consume a lot of time, apparently. Since only 2 people can investigate and their time is very limited, so a lot of issues just exist and nothing ever happens.
I think the process is even simpler for data-centered websites like facebook... I wonder what investigations can possibly be involved apart from checking the IP logs. IP Logs along with verification from the oldest staked address should be enough. The problem is, this process isn't automated and 2 admins have to process this stuff manually.

Bump
You want to be a signature campaign manager on bitcointalk and you are not even aware of the basic rules on the forum. You can only bump your thread once in every 24 hours. Do YOU think a person who isn't knowledgeable on the basic forum's rules will ever be a good campaign manager for the forum?
731  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Skrill bitcoin deposit on: August 27, 2018, 11:42:13 PM
My account is fully verified and yet I can't manage to deposit more than 580.47$? Where that number is coming from and is there is anyway to increase it?

I realize it's possible to make multiple transactions but that's annoying when I want to deposit large amounts and with the need of using a decoder for BitPay etc. It's not worth the trouble.
If it's not worth the trouble you should just stop using it maybe? Anyway, you never know how the conversion will work around these payment processors. They don't have a set of constant policies which will work out in every case. You will never know why or when you will be blocked. Personally, I would hate to have my crypto converted to other centralized platforms like Skrill.
732  Economy / Gambling / Re: sport betting syndicate!!!! on: August 27, 2018, 11:36:19 PM
You're pretty new here compared to the existing shared pool of bettors. You know, people wouldn't blindly trust you with their monies. You think an escrow would be an essential part here? Also, there is barely any proof for the stuff mentioned in the post.
733  Other / Meta / Re: FAO MODS: Why not charge a fee to recover hacked accounts? on: August 27, 2018, 11:24:25 PM
I've been trying since October, 2017 to recover my hacked account. BCT already has a post ban lifting fee. Why not charge a fee for recovering hacked accounts where account is verified?
I don't think charging fees to recover something that belongs to you is an ideal way to go. Maybe if someone wants to recover their accounts on a priority basis then charging them is okay.

There are so many people asking for their hacked accounts to be returned to them. At the moment they're just being completely ignored.
They're not being ignored. There's just too much stuff on theymos's plate to give account recovery as a priority.
734  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: August 27, 2018, 10:43:49 PM
Make a god-damn campaign guidelines for newbie campaign managers.
If not that, the quickest and the easiest way to go about it would be incentivizing newbie accounts in order to manage campaigns. A newbie account has to pay a certain fee to become a campaign manager. After paying the fee, they will be publicly judged after 1st week of their management and decided if they're capable to continue. If they're not capable, the thread should be locked until company hires someone else. Not only newbie accounts but any rank lesser than Hero Member shouldn't be directly allowed to manage signature campaigns.

Mr Riyaz Ahmad Khan is my relative riyaz22 introduced us to this forum how to earn form bitcointalk. I agree with riyaz22 and we are not same person.
We are sold token collectively to avoid exchange fee. We also request to investigate it again.
As a crypto -enthusiast this saddens me. " introduced us to this forum how to earn form bitcointalk. " - Man, why do you want to ruin the place for people who are dedicated to technology, revolution and do things to make a difference in the world? Bitcointalk isn't certainly a place for scums like you who join to the forum with the only goal of spamming the shit out of it. I don't even get mad at this anymore, just sad.
736  Economy / Lending / Re: I want to give loans on: August 22, 2018, 03:26:21 PM
hi all
i will buy 0.015 btc only
and I want to give loans to can earn

how i can start??
What collateral should I accept?
How much percentage are you supposed to earn in a week?
Don't.
 - You have very less amount to start with. Secondly, you are likely to get scammed considering your knowledge about the forum and lending section in general.
 - Instead, try trading or holding which can turn out to be more lucrative than getting scammed by a scum on the forum.
737  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase just paid this catering vendor in Bitcoins lol on: August 22, 2018, 03:23:12 PM
Or perhaps the catering company was the first one to ever ask Bitcoin payment outside of Coinbase staff?
That is likely to be the case. I'm glad coinbase accepted the deal. Are you sure their staff is paid in bitcoins? That's great then! One of the vendor's comments in the thread was like his business have officially started to accept bitcoins after the coinbase payment which is good.

We had the honor of catering last week at San Francisco’s @coinbase. I jokingly asked if we could get paid in BTC aka Bitcoin. Not only did they agree, but this was the first time they paid a vendor in cryptocurrency! Thank you Coinbase and yes we accept cryptocurrency for catering!

Although I consider them the shittest exchange in the bitcoin scene, this is too important to not to be shared lol I wish all the exchanges followed a similar pay structure towards their staff, event managers, promoters. If nothing else that would truly help promote bitcoin commercially.

¬¬¬Keep the thread spam free¬¬¬ All generic shite posts will be reported.
739  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: August 22, 2018, 02:56:28 PM
@hilariousetc
Can we gather here also suggestions which does not required theymos to do anything, like gather a group of DTs to monitor the Bounty Managers, as you proposed earlier, this will be one way to go. Finding solutions without changing the policy of the forum.
Why would you want everything to be centralized than it already is? Why should all the control be given to the DT's instead of a proper system that operates on predefined rules? We know the DT system is broken, feedback's are often biased and subjective. You know, if that ever happens, you will only see the members of DT managing the campaigns and not let anybody else to do it. I really have like 3 members in my trust-list whose feedbacks I consider appropriate. I don't mind if a set of rules are defined for one to become a bounty manager or community has to approve on an individual basis.

Maybe we should focus on this direction since no major changes can be expected in the near future.
Not going to work out in the long run. Yes, we have DT, scams still exist, account farmers still exists, bumping services still exists and I can go in. We need an improved system to reduce this drastically.
740  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: August 22, 2018, 02:50:05 PM
I was wondering for a long time that was I the only one have that concept about "quality" in mind. According to my observation, most of the merits are given in Meta board. Those merit-received posts only meet "constructive" criteria and I don't see many really "high quality" ones. Sometimes, to match the "constructive" criteria, people deliberately lengthen posts & topics. This confuses their readers.
Exactly. To be honest, we need more bitcoin/blockchain sort of discussions on the forum. And not bitching about the system in Meta. Most of the top merited posters are not even close to writing a single informative post outside of Meta.

I'm not a regular visitor of Development & Technical or Project Development and I think either are merit sources. Btw, Bitcoin Discussion is becoming as trashy as Altcoin Discussion so we shouldn't expect from it. Serious Discussion should be instead.
You should be if you are keen on keeping your knowledge up to date.
