1441  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Huge fee in blockchain.info on: December 18, 2017, 06:41:17 PM
Even i am now feedup of the high transaction fees and even we can see a warning on blockchain about the record increase in traffic on the blockchain network affecting a lot in the miner fees and confirmation time. This should be resolved soon as high fees and daily transactions are causing huge looses. To transfer 100$ near about the fees is 0.00082 which is equivalent to 15$ and that is too high for me.
That is only high if you convert bitcoin into dollars.Remember why bitcoin was made ? To replace dollars and create "anonymous transactions".May come off as a joke but this is what the modern commercial, greedy, civilisation has turned bitcoin into.A quick money making scheme and it's doing wonders.
1442  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving post quality? on: December 18, 2017, 06:38:05 PM
What are everyone's ideas for improving post quality?

I have mostly ruled out:

 - Removing signatures or sig ads globally.
 - Requiring payment to wear sig ads.
 - Banning account sales.
Very Logical.

1. To attain ranks above Member, you'd have to earn some number of merit points. Merit points would be awarded in a monthly vote on best posts of the previous month, with various measures (TBD) to prevent gaming of the vote. Winning merit points might also come with a BTC prize.
While I'm okay with the idea, 'voting' part turns me off.If the votes would be carried out publicly, there are higher chances of alts/shill accounts voting each other or getting votes by paying others.

2. Create or designate some sections as "serious discussion" sections, with no signatures. In those sections or maybe in different ones, also have poster restrictions such as Member rank or above only. And/or allow topic-creators to set these restrictions on their topics, similar to selfmod topics.
That would be kind of unfair to people who genuinely want to contribute to the topic but don't have a higher rank.Restricting signatures or members would have exceptions like a very good quality poster may have a signature and would definitely add good inputs to the topic.

Topic creators can still start self-moderated threads and impose those rules in the post.

What do you think of these ideas, and what other ideas do people have?
I think approval for signatures should be done case-by-case basis by a team of members dedicated to do so.I  know this doesn't sound feasible but if you had around 500+ members who could review accounts and somehow automate the process,we will only see quality posters with signatures.
1443  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FortuneJack did not pay 9 bitcoin win. no contact to me. SCAM. on: December 18, 2017, 06:24:24 PM
FJ account has been tagged for now. If this accusation is handled 1 way or the other the rating might be adjusted but this is clearly not the proper way to handle this situation
IIRC,they already were tagged but don't remember which DT member removed the ratings.

Regardless of the accusation,I believe you should let the red mark be there on FJ's profile since this is not the first time they are accused of holding withdrawals. The red tag would serve it's purpose as a warning for anyone willing to deposit money on the casino to think twice.
1444  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Huge fee in blockchain.info on: December 18, 2017, 06:15:05 PM
Allot of bitcoin wallet and exchanges are taking huge fees these
days because of the price of bitcoin going up the chart.
I'm facing a huge problem as well with Cex.io wallet fees and minimum per withdraw.
It has nothing to do with the exchanges or the online wallets. The network is super congested and miners want to make money hence the insane high fees. You know a lot of population is investing at the moment, bitcoin hasn't been as commercial as it is in the last few weeks.
I can't wait for the day when bitcoin users will end up paying a lot more money as transaction fees than  any of the existing online wallets like Tez/Paypal.
I totally think it's time to switch..and it hurts.
1445  Other / Meta / Re: how to recover old account? on: December 17, 2017, 05:58:06 PM
Then theymos should hire extra people as a full time job to look at everyone's case. Hell i'll do it for a minimum wage payday if you want. Just got to verify signatures, takes me 2 minutes per account or less.
Lmao what the fuck do you think this forum is ? An online business  with a dedicated team to solve their customer's issues ? I bet you wouldn't agree paying 0.10 BTC a month as a service fee to pay all those 'employees'.

Why im supposed to sit here with a "20%" chance to recover my account, after delivering extensive cryptographic proof and after the day I get hacked, some guy starts spamming his ICO thing? This is completely insane.
Because your account is your sole responsibility. Why should the forum change the way it functions just because you're too irresponsible when it comes to internet safety ?
1446  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Alternatives to Blockchain.info? on: December 17, 2017, 03:01:31 PM
They are clearly the market leaders in terms of online btc wallet.   What are the alternatives?
They are the online alternatives to the original Core wallet,I don't know why would you for an alternative of an alternative. It is never safe to store your coins in an online exchange/wallet.Try using Electrum instead. It is as user-friendly as blockchain.info and has a better fee structure. The best part about it,it's open-sourced.
1447  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to run an ICO campaign on Bitcointalk? on: December 17, 2017, 02:49:07 PM
I believe that bounty can be helpful, especially what concerns social media.
And shut the fuck up.

@OP,not all the bounties are operated in the similar way. It's totally subjective and inclined towards the outcome you expect from an ICO. Running an ICO will be a bit different in your case since you already have the product launched and doing well.I'd advise you to look for investors instead. What is your target to raise ? Developer here,do you really need that much of money to scale the product ?
1448  Other / Meta / Re: Certain profiles are timing out. on: December 17, 2017, 02:33:53 PM
Simple, the connection is getting timed-out because the request is not fulfilled by the server. In case of the first profile, you can just open chrome's console and see the warning :

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=236087' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure image 'http://xhash.net/images/avatar2.png'. This content should also be served over HTTPS.
That is the member's avatar, you can now open the link : http://xhash.net/images/avatar2.png see how it is not able to server the requested image.
1449  Other / Meta / Re: "Report to moderator" function broken on: December 13, 2017, 01:51:02 PM
It's happening again. I can make posts but not report them, though this time I get 524 instead of 504. The rest of the forum seems to be working fine.
Has nothing to do with one particular function. It's the forum that's overloaded at the moment.Heavier functions like opening your inbox, reporting posts to admins which probably consume a good amount of load times intends to timeout.
Anyway, forum is lagging a lot from a past dew days.Somehow,I still feel we were good without Cloudflaire.
1450  Economy / Reputation / Re: Free Bitcoin Accelerator Spam on: December 12, 2017, 02:48:52 PM
Lately a crapton of people are starting their own bitcoin accelerator services which is essentially just farming for tips and reputation/trust. Can/will those be counted as low effort, since they're not much better than your "lets shitpost our way to make money outta sig campaign" guys
And guess who are their potential customers ? "Crapton" of people who don't know how to use bitcoin.
I don't know how they work but doesn't look like it will get them any trust or reputation. Most of these idiots use online free accelerator services to forward the transactions posted in the thread.I recently used a similar service on bitcointalk just to check if it actually works, well I still don't know if it actually worked or my transaction got confirmed naturally.
1451  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Danos = Islapdonkey = egbunikec@gmail.com =sm3lg3z@gmail.com scammer with proof on: December 12, 2017, 07:16:21 AM
Closely watching the case.
I can see how it is becoming usual to see a few common names like 'Danos', 'IslapDonkey' tagged with 'scams'.However none of these accounts are tagged. The scams related to them are also extreme in terms of it's seriousness. Will update the thread  after my conclusion.
1452  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Extortion Group: Islapdonkey, joosep, etc on: December 12, 2017, 06:58:56 AM
This issue still has to be resolved.
How about you block them form your Discord/whatever channels he is trying to get in touch with you ? I don't care if he's the mentioned account or anybody else but you shouldn't give two shits about Internet Gangsters.Let them do what they want,if your project is legit enough, community would have faith in you.

Been in  a similar situation recently where one of the members of the forum tried to extort money out of me by giving blatant threats.
1453  Economy / Services / Re: 30$ Bounty for an easy C task on: December 12, 2017, 06:38:30 AM
Literally,I would take $30 just to analyse the problem statement.
You are asked to develop a library in C which is not a joke when according to your problem statement other programmers are going to use it.I don't think anybody would do this for $30,get ready to fire up your editor dude because I think you will have to defend the Kingdom alone.
1454  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Wildest Cryptocurrency Online Casino on: December 11, 2017, 08:24:57 PM
Why do I have to confirm my email to make an account on your website man ? I was so impressed by your promotional post that I actually thought I could get free spins. However my personal email is a big sacrifice ,I care about anonymity in bitcoin gambling.

1455  Economy / Gambling / Re: mBet.io Sportsbook 6 BTC Welcome Bonus on: December 11, 2017, 07:59:50 PM

I wont mess about with a lot of marketing dribble, we are simply offering 6 BTC bonus balance with your first deposit of 5 mBTC or more.  At the moment it is only available for bitcoin we will look at including the other currencies in the future. You can see the terms and conditions on the site.
What are you terms and conditions for withdrawing ? Would you ask for documents/proof of identity of requested high withdrawals ? Is there a way to check the bonus is being distributed at regular intervals ? You know ,people like trans

1456  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 TRANSFORMATION HAS BEGUN! CSNO TOKENS ADDED! 🎰🎰🎰 on: December 11, 2017, 07:52:34 PM
This domain / business name "BITCDICE" is actually amazing. Bitcoin is wrth over $15,000 now. All these companies that started a logn time ago and survive the next crash are going to be worth millions.
Just so you know,BITDICE is already worth millions lol
Also the name has nothing to do with how good the project would turn out.You have shit tons of gambling websites starting with 'bit' as their keyword but failed miserably.Service is all that matters, name is just an advantage if rest of the things work out great.
1457  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Cryptocurrency Practical Workshop on: December 11, 2017, 07:28:48 PM
Hi everyone

I've just signed up. Just wanted to check before posting my course details -- I'm running a practical workshop on crypto this month in London, is it ok for me to post details here please?

Many thanks!
Ash
You can start by little introduction about yourself Wink
You know people do expect a lot of such workshops especially if they can be attended by buying tickets.Additionally, you can also list down the topics that would be covered during the workshop.Let me know if you need any help setting up the presentations and such Wink
1458  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Who can help contact blockchain support on: December 11, 2017, 07:24:06 PM
Which browser are you using ?
By any chance have you activated 2fa which isn't working ?
I'd suggest, clear your cache or try opening the link in a private browsing mode.If the problem persists, open up a support ticket.I don't know what feature of blockchain.info lets you 'authorise ' them with your browser.I have never come across that.
1459  Other / Meta / Re: Account Ban on: December 11, 2017, 07:19:02 PM
You're probably (could be) banned due to the low effort posts you made.
I don't recollect anyone getting banned for low quality posts.Unless of course they have exceeded their spamming limits.Like always the case,he would be banned for copy-pasting.This is just a rough guess but he will get an appropriate response from hilariousandco.
1460  Other / Meta / Re: Turning your post history into word clouds! on: December 10, 2017, 07:28:14 PM
I am all about open source.  Note the end of the first post!  Smiley
I mean, putting the code on Github but anyway,I get your point.

Not sure we will ever know the ultimate goal, but the direction I am going in involves the use of data mining and visualization (visual data mining) to model and detect shilling within product review sets, forum threads, and so on.  Visualization is a means of doing this, and the techniques I hope to use go well beyond word clouds.  Word clouds visualize surface level information and can be rather insightful but there are many great techniques which work at the level of meaning.  Currently working with sentiment analysis and emotion detection.  When shilling occurs we see certain patterns of sentiment. (posted a toy project a few weeks ago somewhere visualizing shilling)

So yeah, shitpost modeling. Smiley
Don't ML make an integral part of it along with data mining ? Honestly, this isn't as easy as it looks like.I'm pretty sure complexity will keep on increasing as the project progresses.
