761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone want a free Starbucks Coffee? on: July 09, 2015, 08:30:27 PM
Friend downloaded this and only received 7 cents.  How much coffee does 7 cents buy?

made up story, NEM FANBOY?

There is opportunity to earn quite a lot of gems through the app right now by inviting, but an airdrop disc coming soon where a large number of coins will be dropped into wallets based on use and how many coins you have, i.e. the motivation to have coins already is very high.

Nothing made up about this.  He registered on GetGems and only received the equivalent of 7 cents.   Previous poster is correct where 7 cents at Starbucks will probably get you half a sniff.   Cheesy

Sigh these GetGems people are becoming the next Monero-tards in terms of annoyance, desperation and hilarious attempts of defamation of anyone who exposes their lies.   Nothing personal here, if you can give $5 for people to signup then you might get people interested.  Otherwise I think I speak for this forum where nobody  wants to see your misleading advertising spam on the alternate section.  Go hide in your small announcement thread full of circle jerkers who are waiting to get rich from a clone of free software.

"Expose their lies" You have issues, take your coin turf war somewhere someone cares. Gemz is what it is, download it and use it or don't, I couldn't care less what you do.

Gems has now implemented its store so if you download and collect some gems you can exchange them for Starbucks vouchers and other stuff.

764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Citigroup Is Testing Its Own Bitcoin: 'Citicoin' on: July 09, 2015, 07:59:09 AM
People seem surprised about this. Bitcoin is a stake at the heart of the banking cabal that runs our world. They have done their best to discredit Bitcoin but the fact is they can't really control it which is why its inevitable that they would try to make their own that satisfies their desire to inflate the currency as they wish.

I told people this was coming, sadly many will be duped. Still I don't care, hold onto the real thing, you can't save everyone.
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GEMZ]|GetGems - Social Messaging App That Pays | LIVE on Android and iOS | on: July 09, 2015, 07:46:33 AM
Yep, basically.

I think those Governments also have to take some blame and society that wants something for nothing, i.e. socialism. But this major cause is barely reported at the moment. People should know this is coming to many of our countries in the coming years, maybe sooner, Greece is not unique.

While we are off topic on a general banking discussion I noticed that Citigroup are wanting to make their own coin.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1113207.0

I said before that the fact Citi was sniffing around apps like Getgems and similar technology is cause they want to see how they can survey the situation and maybe pick up on what to rip off, it was never out of altruistic motives.IMHO I hope no one on the Gems team gets head hunted by Citi.  Shocked Its good though that the major banks know the future lies here, they aren't stupid.
766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CITIBANK DEVELOPING ITS OWN CRYPTOCURRENCY on: July 09, 2015, 03:31:03 AM
Post suitable for the Altcoins section.

i beg to differ, at least altcoin are decentralized, this crap is far worse, it's fiat on steroid basically

only average joe and who don't know how bitcoin works(and those article that say that knowing how bitcoin work is useless...), will be deceived by it

So only 99% of the population then.....so nothing to worry about?
767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GEMZ]|GetGems - Social Messaging App That Pays | LIVE on Android and iOS | on: July 09, 2015, 03:26:16 AM
It's a bit off topic but as Daniel posted about the Greek crisis. I wanted to share about the lie that the MSM is pushing in almost ALL the media we are reading about Greece. Yes Europe and Greece have many social governments have been over spending and a dependent economy BUT this is not how this crisis has come about.

Put simply and quite shockingly. It was the banks, Goldman etc who pushed deriveratives on governments which then blew up, the banks knew they were sub par. Then those same banks were bailed out by the Greek 'lazy' tax payer. And now as the crisis worsens those very same banks are coming after more from the tax payers to pay of the debts they themselves were responsible for and lost. It doesn't get more corrupt than that.

Witch android version are you running

I updated to the latest one a few months ago so I don't think it's that. It kind of embarrassing I have such a shitty phone, it's a long story but I barely use a phone for my lifestyle. Just to add it was working pretty much flawlessly before the more recent update from a couple of weeks ago.

Invalid checksum makes me wonder if my phone is blocking the app somewhere in settings maybe?
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GEMZ]|GetGems - Social Messaging App That Pays | LIVE on Android and iOS | on: July 08, 2015, 01:51:27 PM
I'm wondering if I need to give up on this app working on my Galaxy S2. I'm getting the same invalid checksum notification. I have the app running on my iPad.
770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today it is Greece. Tomorrow it can be you. on: July 07, 2015, 06:22:47 PM
Hello people. i read recently that bitcoin is being trend in Greece and it's true. our banks are closed and we can only withdraw 60eur/day so its impossible to spend these 60 to buy bitcoins. i have all my savings in banks. e-banking and mobile banking works and we can send money only within Greece. So is there any way to buy bitcoins or we are trapped. I do not want to see all my savings being reduced by 30% or more. i was working all my life for that. I really do want to start with bit coins i started getting educated about it but how can i start? i hope it's not too late.

If you can't get your money out of the banks then how can you buy anything, let alone Bitcoin?

Sorry but you should of seen this coming years ago. I won't preach now, it's too late however. If you are legit I suggest you get as much money as you can out of the banking system and buy precious metals which no one in Europe can stop you from doing. One benefit of being part of EU is you can move over borders still. That's all you can do, get your money and buy gold or something with intrinsic value like collectables, antiques, classic cars etc. even property in the long term will be safe in years and decades to come. If you hold gold now you could actually have some great opportunities for buying property etc later.

Like I said, no one can help you get your money out of banks, I would research Cyprus to see what might happen.

the reason i don`t want to invest on this coin is really simple-------------------------> no qt-wallet

You're right, that is really simple.

BTC down, GEMZ down.
BTC up, GEMZ down.

GEMZ down, me kicking myself for being too broke to buy more GEMZ.

I can't see any major price change in the last 6 months. It's about as stable as you can get.

773  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many Bitcoins are lost forever? on: July 07, 2015, 02:04:13 PM
The fact is this Bitcoin ultimately has a finite shelf life. there is no way that people won't for a myriad of reasons lose small amounts of Bitcoin until eventually we are all using a fraction of a Bitcoin and eventually we won't want to divide down anymore.

Death particularly will wipe out a large percentage of coins. I doubt very few people on here have told someone else their coin addresses, and guess what, many won't know their last day on earth was the day they got into their car to go shopping etc.

BTC down, GEMZ down.
BTC up, GEMZ down.

There's no vol so any movements mean almost nothing at the moment. Gems price has been pretty flat since the beginning, the majority are holders waiting...

HELPPPPPP Sad Shocked

Guys im having a disaster I have tried to log into my gemz account via this link https://koinify.com/#/project/GEMZ, as I wanted to check on my 5000 Gemz that I bought from you when you were doing the sale a few months ago and I cant log into my account on there and there is no trace of my gems, this is really frustrating I saved my details and they say there are incorrect on the site, this is impossible as I never changed them my email address that my 5000 gemz is on is '*****@hotmail.co.uk' and I still have the password for the account.

When I try to recover my account on koinify it asks me for a 'Master Phrase' which is something that I was never given when I purchased my gemz?
I dont even know where they are now please help guys.

I have just seen that you posted on twitter 'Reminder: You have until July 30th to withdraw your GEMZ.'

I didnt withdraw my gemz where are they now?

Aaron

Contact help on Koinify. I know nothing but I expect they can recover your gems but you have to ask them.

This clip is interesting than Daniel posted regarding the growth of Weebly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOeyYAfKXLI

I was worried that Gems wasn't flying from the start with Airdrop etc fully operational. But now i think its better to get the app right at this stage and hit the ground running once the app is pristine. Then I think the uptake has the potential to go pretty fast and also get publicity then. The big take away is that behind most overnight success is usually a lot of hard work. In Crypto people want instant results, the reality is a quality tech business takes time.

So the beta for the in app Store is released and i'm one of the testers for iOS and have to say it looks absolutely stunning, it literally blowed my mind how cool it actually is. No other Crypto has come so far, it all just makes sense and it's unbelievably noob friendly and the attention to Gems as a currency in the store is great to see.

Screenshots?

The UI is pretty much the same with minor changes, the banner at the top slide automatically (they can add/ change banners without a new phone update) and the whole store is just pretty awesome, buying is super easy and noob friendly too.

What's likely to be available in the store? can anyone sell inside it, is it potentially an eBay?

Sorry for the questions, I would like to be a tester but my phone is a crap old Galaxy s2 that won't even update the recent version, yet.

780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is holding Bitcoin back? on: July 02, 2015, 01:37:34 PM
People have got it all wrong about Bitcoin. The benefits of Bitcoin are for anyone NOW, you don't need mass uptake to make Bitcoin a success, I can move wealth over borders and protect my wealth from fiat destruction right now, today.

The problem at the moment is a Bitcoin solves a problem that very few people recognise they have. Most people think they can pay instantly with credit card so why the hell do they need to learn a new technology?

I think it will take a massive currency collapse for people to understand Bitcoin and luckily enough I think we will soon get one, the biggest the world has ever seen.

I have tried to kick start the conversion that IF you want the masses to use Bitcoin you need something that looks and smells like a Traditional bank, but has Bitcoin backing it. People want to use dollars and cents and have a nice person on the phone that will help them if they ever fuck up or lose a password etc. They want to use Visa cards etc. I hope someone in the a Bitcoin community with enough money starts one before a major banks does....
