Poll should change to:

What do you think will happen first:

Back to 65K or new ATH at 100K.

how about 66666 or 77777?

66666 or 99999?

99999 or 123456?

763  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Hello, my friend has 200 solar panels, do they generate enough energy for mining on: March 11, 2024, 04:27:19 PM
a solar panel could be 400 watts so 200 x 400 = 80000 watts do a factor of 5 gives you 400,000 watts in a day.

If you have a proper buy back electric company you get 1 to 1 payback for excess.

translation take the 400k/24 = 16kwatts an hour 24/7/365

so 5 antminer s21's maybe or 4 ant miner s21's surely
764  Other / Meta / Re: [REQUEST] the wall observer thread should be pinned. on: March 11, 2024, 04:29:27 AM
Chart buddy does keep it near the top. Lots of others post.

I would think it gets over 100 posts a day.

would love to see us level up this week.
766  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What filters or materials for filters do you use? on: March 11, 2024, 02:44:49 AM
but it is like a balancing act.

the distances between the exhaust fans and the outside of the room may be so close that no extra fan is needed.

Very close to outside, Less than 2 meters from Asics

may work may not.

the heat from the fans will tend to diffuse and may or may not dump out of the room.

Trial and error is your friend here.

Just remember you may need an exhaust fan or may not.

and if they are 1 foot from the outside rain may hurt them
767  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What filters or materials for filters do you use? on: March 11, 2024, 01:49:36 AM

air in >>> filter >>> fan >>> machines >>> air out

is needed due to filters restricting air flow.

Was hoping to avoid, but your prob right... Thanks

The most important question, what is beyond that hole?

Input and output holes both lead to outside.

A fan will definitely be needed...
my opinion just grab the most affordable  sheets of filters you have in the nearby store and if one doesn't do the job (highly unlikely) you can add another 8mm one on it!

Definitely, also don't forget to take a look now and then at that filter, if you're in a really dusty environment it might need cleaning or you're going to have it restrict all airflow and overheat all the setup.

no mold filter needed, and yes id rather double/treble up etc.

hopefully I can get away with just the input fan after the filter before the asics...

As for the exhaust fan, why should we need one? we have the fan + asic fans both pushing in that direction.

very hard to answer this.

but it is like a balancing act.

calculating  what you need can be hard.

once you toss in a filter the balance alters.

the distances between the exhaust fans and the outside of the room may be so close that no extra fan is needed.

771  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 10, 2024, 04:39:31 PM

oh god fucking real estate taxes have gone nuts. I likely will move from New Jersey as I got back to back 20% increases.

Will you know how to fill your gas tank? Are all your miners on solar?

I am a native new yorker. I have filled my gas tank many times.

My mine has closed down. I have over 140watts of idle gear as I type.

I mine a few miners at my home.

A modded s19xp and a L7

plus a few gpus. About 4500 watts an hour.
772  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What filters or materials for filters do you use? on: March 10, 2024, 02:36:10 PM
FP91G, philipa

What do you think about using only the fans from the ASICS to draw in new air from the polyester filter?

I have 7 miners in a 1mx1m box, with one filter at inflow end, other end open no filter(outflow)

Or should I use dedicated fan to push/pull air through filter?

In the past, I ran my ASICS without filter... Now my setup has changed and I have cleaned my machines, I want to use a filter going forward.

air in >>> filter >>> fan >>> machines >>> air out

you may avoid the exhaust fan.

but often

air in >>> filter >>> fan >>> machines >>> fan >>> air out

is needed due to filters restricting air flow.

its always an issue with filters as they all restrict air flow. but dirt and filth needs restriction especially if you are in a dirty city with a lot of air pollution
773  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best Old miner to buy in march 2024 on a COST-HASH-WATTAGE Efficency basis? on: March 10, 2024, 02:29:29 PM
Ever seen this one?  https://www.asicminervalue.com/  I think unless you have solar or score a deal on a cheap miner it would be best to look into a gekkoscience miner or a bitaxe supra or ultra.

USB miners are highly inefficient and mostly for learning purposes, im looking for ASICS of 2500W+ like S19s etc.

Thanks for the website

Your power cost is important.

Noise factor is important.

Durable miners are important.

I have 8 whatsminers

two m10s
two m30s
four m50s

seven of them are perfect and one has a dead board.

they are durable easy to control remotely. you can downclock them if it is hot.

the m10s are not efficient but cheap and durable. if you have very cheap power they are okay.
the m30s are more efficient but cost more if you have cheap power they are better.
the m50s are better but cost more if you have a bit more costly power they would be the choice.

m10s do 31th
m30s do 96th
m50s do  110th

what I like about these are the free remote software you can down load.

if you have any desk and the whatsminer software you can instantly control the gear from any pc in the world . i would recommend them if noise is not an issue .
if noise is an issue s19s using braiins with a down clock can help. as fan control works well if you down clock.

No  my partner managed to lose more than 100000 usdt in sfx.

my thoughts on holding usdt are it is supposed to be 75% backed by US t-bills

so why trust usdt you may as well trust t-bills and cut out the middle man.

t-bills pay half assed interest but if it is a small amount of btc you cash.

10percent of your coins in your case seems okay. t-bills are pretty safe.

I have I bonds and silver and a lot less btc than you.

plus the home is paid off.

I get what you are saying (no mortgage), but the house is NEVER paid off.
My RE taxes roughly equal the sum of the mortgage payments (per year).

oh god fucking real estate taxes have gone nuts. I likely will move from New Jersey as I got back to back 20% increases.

776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Google Authenticator needed for Electrum BTC wallet - App stopped working on: March 10, 2024, 02:26:13 AM
In any case, if you have not touched your wallet for 7 years, it will not sync If your electrum version is older than V3.0.5, you will need to update the wallet.

Keep your old phone working without touching it, download the wallet to a new phone, verify the signature, and since the Google Authenticator setup was at the software level (meaning your wallet is not Electrum 2fa with TrustedCoin (2-of-3 multi-sig)), then you can easliy recovering your wallet via the seed.

In new wallet click on Create / Restore a wallet, give it a name, enter your seed and will store your funds.
Thanks for the detailed breakdown.
So it looks like I need the enter the seed no matter what, right? That sucks!
Is there really no way I can update the Google Authenticator app, then install the latest version of Electrum, place my wallet.dat file on my computer, and then use the Google Authenticator 2FA token to send the money?

Also, just to be 100% sure (sorry if it's a stupid question), but when you say download the wallet to a new phone, this can also be done on a laptop right?
I can install Electrum to my computer, verify the signature, and then restore the wallet via seed there.

my electrum is on a pc and I tested the seed it works.

testing your seed on a pc should work to install the wallet/electrum
777  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Unique serial number for every single satoshi on: March 10, 2024, 02:07:58 AM
Sounds like a fun project, but I don't think the idea has any practical use because there is no real association between the satoshis in the inputs and the satoshis in the outputs.
I'm happy to admit that I was proven wrong, but I'm still waiting for a practical use. I'm not saying that there is no practical use, just that I am too closed-minded to come up with one. Wink
Curious to know how you were proven wrong. I also was just wondering the same thing. Is there any real association between input satoshis and output satoshis?

The Ordinals system specifically describes the association between the satoshis in the inputs and the satoshis in the outputs, so there is a real association when you use the Ordinals system. I think the jury is still out on whether there are any practical uses.

rising fees for miners.

which like or not is very practical for them.
778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Google Authenticator needed for Electrum BTC wallet - App stopped working on: March 10, 2024, 01:02:45 AM
do not touch the google authentication.

try and see if the seed is good and is a match for the wallet.

wait for others to let you know how to safely do the seed.

780  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What filters or materials for filters do you use? on: March 09, 2024, 11:48:39 PM
Mostly in my country they use inexpensive polyester, polyester filter fabric or polyurethane foam. The thickness is selected based on your specifications.

This doesn't restrict airflow too much?

What do you think about https://ebay.co.uk/itm/166400270240

best thing is test it out. looks like it should be okay some protection but decent airflow.
