The forum is turning into dictatorship. Satoshi would not approve of this
This forum was never a democracy.

satoshi wouldn't give a shit.
it's really sucks

Dude it is not a dictatorship.

I probably suffered the worst signature loose of all.

I had to refund months of a prepaid signature. paid to me in btc and the btc went up 10%

I lost thousands due to this decision.

If btc goes up more like 10,000 plus will be lost to me.

It is not about the earnings. what matters is the forum continues and we pivot as best we can.

theymos is doing a good job it is not easy to operate in the USA. 🇺🇸 laws are fucked up.

Here is a simple example you are 18 your girlfriend is 17 you drive over the george washington bridge while she is giving you a handjob. On one side of the bridge you are not a pedophile on the other side of the bridge you are a pedophile. Age of consent is 17 in NY and 18 in NJ.

so it seems off topic but it is not it illustrates how laws differ.

We have zero idea of what he was told. and we had a federal agency get tagged by moron dt members.

not clever on their part.

@ jjg

btc is about 20x gold price now

I think btc got over 34x gold price in 2021

so we can think 68k will be here soon. 🔜
1543  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers Signatures : A challenge or Respect on: December 04, 2023, 03:05:58 AM
Well, we all know that Mixers Signatures will be ended by 1st  Jan 2024. There are new rules being imposed regarding promoting mixers on this forum.

Well, Theymos has given a grace period of one month, to wind up all these things including signature campaigns. Now the question comes whether we show respect to the theymos decision and remove our signatures as soon as possible for everyone benefit and to show that we respect the forum decisions or will you people will keep wearing the signatures till 31 December so that you earn every penny you can. Also it means that most users are not willing to let go mixers signatures as they keep them till the last seconds.

The same challenge goes to the campaign managers to announce this or this current week as the last one to wind up things  (in favor and agreeing to theymos) or still be willing to go till the last week of December Huh

I was prepaid six months and I sent back almost all that coin to tumbler

I wont reveal my loss but it was over 500 a month for six months.

I sent more than have the coin back my loss was in the thousands.

I could send the small amount back and stop this signature.

But my position is mixers are a tool a hammer is a tool a chainsaw is a tool.

tools can be good or bad.

I used my signature funds to donate to three forum members. and to a mempool tracker

talk img developer see thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5450546.0
mempool  info developer  see link https://mempool.jhoenicke.de/#BTC,24h,weight

difficulty prediction give away. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5431167.msg63146483#msg63146483

I will continue to run this signature until dec 31

unless theymos pms me or posts me to end it.

I will also do some more donations to the links above.

Looks like BTC is going to see $41000 today. 2023 peak price has come up. I think we'll see $45k+ by 2023.
What do you think guys?

my 2 predictions were dec 1 42k       and on dec 3 we are over 40.5k

and                         Jan 1   48k      so if we do 46.5k on Jan 3 I will be happy
1545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is anyone concerned about the mempool size? on: December 04, 2023, 02:07:56 AM
Second-layer solutions DO help — it's just that no one has found/publicized an actual viable solution yet. It's unrealistic to think that if bitcoin became an actual backbone of a huge financial system, that no one has yet figured something out for scaling.

Just force the smaller transactions out and off to LTC/Doge.

No BTC sends under 0.0005

No BTC fees under 0.00005

and push LN to every exchange .

at the moment I still am having trouble finding an exchange that will allow me to join and that uses LN

I am fairly tech minded and have tried 6 exchanges with no luck.

I can send from nicehash and I do have some very small btc mining there.

But I do not have an LN node I do not want one.

and with no ability to send from LN to a LN exchange I am kind of stuck.
1546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transactions - are we living in stone age? :( on: December 04, 2023, 01:40:10 AM
Would you mind sharing how to consolidate the inputs? It will be very helpful for a lot of people who do not transact regularly on Bitcoin but use it as an investment.
What hosseinimr93 meant is that if he had consolidated the UTXOs at low fee (the UTXOs that become the high inputs in the transaction), like using 2 sat/vbyte last month, the fee paid would have been low while making transaction with 1 or lower inputs this time around.

[Nov 2023] Fees are high, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs

Let us be expecting Coinbase to support lightning network: https://twitter.com/brian_armstrong/status/1701806701853507886?t=rzIECclUUPCUz1FDlB72AQ&s=19

There are now easy to use lightning network wallets like Muun. You do not need to have channel before you will use lightning network. It is online and should be used with just little amount of money. Just for making transaction.

For holding, I will still prefer onchain and offline wallet.

There are many exchanges that are supporting lightning network now https://github.com/theDavidCoen/LightningExchanges

looked at the list and maybe I can use nicehash.

I am on the wrong pc but I will really check that list and get back here as I would like to be able to use an exchange legally.

most seem to not allow be to join.

and I am not opening a vpn or tor to go around it.

I am in the usa here is the list from the GitHub link

I am not following you as to why this quote will work for 3 months time?

Hi @philipma1957

Someone can make for exemple make a signature design with no link. He writes "Go to visit abcd.mixer"
People just have to open a new tab and search for the domain name

In a post, the same can be done, it's fine since I don't directly post their URLs

Thank you for the reasoning behind your post. I understand the loophole now.

1550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Saving Your Bitcoin (and other crypto) Addresses In Exchanges And Wallets on: December 04, 2023, 12:08:57 AM
✂️

... and also don't move a large sum of money into an exchange address at once, you can break it down into smaller chunks. Even if the exchange is still in operation and they haven't changed their deposit address, they could confiscate your funds for any other reason at all, so sending funds in smaller chunks might save you from losing everything.

This is OP's fault because he was too subjective with his actions, if he had been more careful and always checked everything before making a transaction, nothing would have happened. So I would disagree with your idea of making multiple money orders instead of just one. With current transaction fees, do you think it is wise for us to do so many bitcoin transactions? While we just need to be careful and we can save money with just 1 transfer? This is the user's careless error, we do not need to blame the exchange.

try reading closer the op did not lose coins.

I know you may want to make a signature payment as you get paid but you are simply wrong as the op did not  lose coins.
1551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinjoin on Trezor Suite on: December 04, 2023, 12:07:03 AM
I dug this up due to mixer bans coming.

I have used trezor one for a long time.

I never did coinjoin.

So

a) can I talk about trezor and coin join
b) I have no need for my coins to be private
c) I never used a mixer
d) I used btc like cash never did long hodls
e) I mined and spent most profits

I now own:

 Trezor One
 Trezor Two
Trezor Three is on the way

If I never use coinjoin am I compliant with USA rules of mixing wrongly
If I never use a mixer am I compliant with USA rule of mixing  wrongly

I do advertise a mixer as I know some people may have a need for private coins.
OG whales do not want to show they have 20 or 30 or 300 or 3000 coins even if they are fully tax compliant.

Seems like trezor may now be the way to keep privacy
1552  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 03, 2023, 11:56:49 PM
It's a bit like if the TalkGold forum banned advertising banking services Cheesy

Anyway It's going to hurt the whole niche for sure and forums won't be the only one following this decision. For exemple, blogs won't allow purchasing advertising space on their website.

And scammers will make a lot of cash from it. Bitcointalk is considered having a high DA and with high PA and that's what bothered scammers a lot.
I know Theymos can say: "outside this forum is not my business". Yes, true, the matter is the forum and not the world wide web

As for promoting a mixer, it won't be difficult to bypass the change. The admin then will have to make more changes for a total ban because the quote below will only work 3 months about

Several people seem to be concerned that the current policy will be too disruptive/constraining. How about I make this modification to loosen it a bit: you can direct people to mixers by name (even in something like a "top 10 mixers" topic), as long as:
 - You don't directly post their URLs.
 - It's not a paid ad, and you're not representing a mixer.

Would this be sufficient to address the concerns?

I am not following you as to why this quote will work for 3 months time?
1553  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why is my miner mining less date every day? on: December 03, 2023, 11:41:12 PM
Thank you all for the responses.

I like having a miner to support the network, and get KYC free coin... Even if I am only breaking even, or taking a small loss.

Pretty soon I think I will end up selling the rig.

Anyone know of a miner that mines quietly similar to the futurebit Apollo, but with more hash?
Six CPU Cores. 44 ASIC Cores. 1TB NVMe Based SSD Drive. Quiet. Less than 200 Watts of Power. Made in the USA. This is what the Future of Bitcoin looks like.
https://shop.futurebit.io/products/pre-order-apollo-btc-a-bitcoin-asic-miner-and-desktop-class-computer-running-a-full-node-and-much-more-batch-1-ships-in-late-april-to-may

This is a bad device for mining bitcoins. Better buy a good video card for $700 and mine bitcoins on NiceHash. With a graphics card, you will always have more options.

Yeah the new apollo is very costly for its hash rate and its power efficiency.
A two card gpu rig costs less and earns more.

1555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Authorities Are Not Smart Enough to Do This on: December 03, 2023, 11:32:54 PM
The two strategies, in my estimation, for dealing with Bitcoin are to fix fiat currency and, second, to promote an approach of ignoring Bitcoin rather than attacking it. In the first strategy, all the authorities need to do is to address the issues facing traditional fiat currencies. I bet if they can do this successfully, individuals will be less motivated to seek alternatives like investing in Bitcoin. I say this with utmost certainty because, in my country Nigeria, one of the major reasons why we are ranked among the top 10 countries in the world with the highest rate of crypto adoption is because of the instability of our national currency, high inflation rate, poor and deteriorating economic conditions, and lack of transparency in the financial systems leading to distrust in traditional financial institutions. If they can fix these shortcomings in traditional financial systems, Bitcoin will be less appealing to us. I know this is not exclusive to my country only.

In the second approach, by simply ignoring Bitcoin or avoiding direct confrontation through over-regulation or restriction of its use, Bitcoin would just remain in a corner and not emerge as a significant threat to the financial systems. For instance, the authorities in my country, through the Central Bank, placed a ban on Bitcoin transactions and ordered the banks to freeze the accounts of individuals transacting business with Bitcoin. Did this stop Bitcoin adoption and increase? No way.

But I doubt that the authorities are smart enough to do this. Please leave a comment.

most governments work on might makes right.

Oh they can wrap it with fancy words. My Country USA 🇺🇸 plays the role of freedom fighter for the world’s oppressed countries. Who the fuck believes that any more.
So smart is not the correct word but I am searching for a better way to say it.

I will post back later. If I can word it better.
1556  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 03, 2023, 11:28:32 PM
We need a good class action lawyer to sue the government agencies for proper compensation.

Btw as I understand the new rule I can keep this signature the way it is. or do I deactivate the links in it.

I fully intend to comply with theymos rules. as i understand them them This goes on dec 31 and I am all good.
That's a different story, you can ask people to report criminal activities and give them money, there is even a big percentage of the embezzled  money that goes to the whistle blowers. This case is different the money does not belong to the government, it belongs to people, besides we are not attracting criminals here, in fact no criminal logs in this forum, they just watch from distance, not to mention all of these operations of all on forum mixers, are just a distraction, the big fishes are operating elsewhere.

But do we know which one of the existing mixers are honeypots? I'm willing to bet half of them are honeypots and the rest are a front, a facade to keep the LE busy.

The largest money washing machines are big centralized exchanges, just like the big banks.

yep and to anyone with a good stack of coins that have a low capital cost privacy is import.

like I said before when I write a check to pay my mason he does not know what is left in my bank account.

mixers are one of the only ways to hide non taxable coins.

if a guy is holding 50 coins from a block he hit  in 2011. He wants  to cash a few in 2011 that block was worth under 500 bucks and he reported hitting the block in 2012 paid his tax.In the USA 🇺🇸 if he held it to now he owes no tax.

If he wants to cash some of it he should not need to reveal the rest as it is not taxable.

This is very interesting as we have seen many older untouched blocks from 2009 to 2010

I wonder if they have been held in case the government wants to do this.

The feds could get burned bigly over this. In the meantime bitcointalk can wait on the sidelines as the best way to end this issue is some of those old blocks get cashed mixed and there are lawsuits over it.
