1282  Other / Meta / Re: 2FA added on: December 25, 2023, 05:48:02 PM
Finally, the long waited dream came true. Thumbs up to PowerGlove for the effort, and theymos for approving the 2FA feature Wink.

EDIT: 2FA is now enabled and tested it on my account, worked without any problem. Using google authenticator as the authenticating app. (Any other alternative recommended, or it's just fine to use?). Thanks.

yeah so if I use google auth vs email and have the phone with app  as a stay at home security phone for auth various accounts. Would not I be safe if my email gets compromised in the future since no one has my “special”

I ask this because this is how my coinbase was protected.

the villains got into it but all was protected by my google auth on a “special” phone.

Not the compromised cell or the compromised email.

1283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Increase Inbound Liquidity on: December 25, 2023, 05:38:41 PM
How can I crease inbound liquidity on an open channel on my Lightening Node? I have sats on the Max Send but  0 sats on the max receive. Thanks

If you send me doge or ltc.

I can send you LN btc  from my nicehash mining wallet.

I fact A general question is if I want to offer the service of sending btc From my Ln on nicehash to your LN

where could I advertise this?

Say up to 0.003 btc for

doge and a much smaller fee.
or for ltc and a much smaller fee.

I could try a new signature on Jan 1 2024.

The most I could do in a month is around 2000 usd worth.

1287  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why was the block size not increased? on: December 25, 2023, 04:46:10 PM
No @BlackHatCoiner , i'm using translator  from my born language:). - I Hope it is not Illegal on this forum?
It is not forbidden, but it seems like I'm chatting with GPT. (Also, don't bold entire sentences, it is not readable)

Reward halves, block size doubles. I think this would be a good solution! Was this even discussed before?
But reward doesn't halve. Subsidy does. There is no correlation between the block size and the subsidy. The reward decreases on the long term, but that's because of the mere assumption that the transaction fees will be less than the current subsidy. The current wave of Ordinal transactions shows that the network can pretty much survive by transaction fees alone, and we're years before it is adopted in a mass scale.

that is the good thing about this

year ——————-rewards————-——- fees
2009/2012         50 >>>>>>>>>> under 0.1
2012/2016.         25.                        under 0.05-0.1
2016/2020.        12.5.                      0.1-2.0
2020/2024.          6.25.                    0.2-5.0
2024/2028.          3.125.                  1.0-6.0.  seems possible

the major pools (foundry) are black box and not transparent.n you need 20ph+ to join them

foundry can down clock to crowd the mempool then over clock to grab extra higher fee blocks which they helped to create by down clocking.

in 2024 the reward penalty for a block lost due to downclocking becomes ˝ so right now it costs 250k in rewards for blocks lost trying to clog the chain. april that cost drops to 125k a bargin

should be real interesting after this ˝ ing.
1288  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Start and stop mining under 10sec - model and programs? on: December 25, 2023, 03:17:22 PM
Hi,

We would need to control the site overall power draw and would need a tool to control the miner power draw pretty fast.

Its easy to shutdown the miner and power comes down fast, but are there any software that can stop the mining so that if can be restored fast too?

So the need is to toggle between few hundred watts and few kilowatts in less than 10 sec.

Thanks!

Not easy to uptick, but if you use an epic controller on a s19xp it can clock up or down quickly.

whatsminers will not fire back up fast.

https://altairtech.io/product/epic-umc/

you could try the controller above.
1289  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are dices for generating seed words fair? on: December 25, 2023, 03:12:38 PM
does anybody really trust casino dices?

In major casinos they are likely close to 1/6 per spot.

As a very astute player may detect a large bias and bet to their advantage.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS guys!

Hope all that celebrate it, have an amazing, wholesome day with family and friends.

2024 and 2025 are going to be very financially rewarding for us but today is about spending quality time with people you care about, money and even BTC doesn’t matter too much today.

Enjoy the day but let’s get back to observing BTC and shitposting tomorrow.

I raise a glass to you, comrades.

Merry Christmas to the whole WO gang.

I already posted some festive postcard here on the WO,
So I would abstain from it.

Use your time, ultimate scarce resource, wisely during these holidays!

would have given you some merits but I am at 50 merit cap with you.

Merry Christmas 🎁 WO!
1291  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay discrimination on: December 25, 2023, 12:18:22 PM
There has always been a huge difference in the pay scale between the white collar jobs and blue collar or skilled labor wherein the later one put in more effort physically and do more hardwork than the earlier one.

Should there be market correction done for skilled labors?

Some will say that an white collar employee is more mentally drained out hence they deserve better pay but people who do menial job stop working the world will just rot as everything cannot be done but robots and AI.

It's sometimes sad to see how they are treated disrespectfully, be it a waiter, delivery workers, cab drivers, carpenter, or construction workers as they are the pillars and without them things will start falling apart. I know some of these can be automated but not everything.

Actually this is a new issue as at least 25% of college taught people with 'brainy' degrees will be worthless with AI.

Now that makes all colleges at risk economically since why get an accounting degree it is worthless AI is better.

It is a new world.

Nurses and doctors would have value but many college educated people would have fully replaceable jobs.

Hard physical jobs may become the better way for many people.

But I have to imagine that colleges will push back or go broke.

I will likely die before that all straightens out I would think 25-35 years time before we see how it shakes out.

that would mean I would be 92-102 years old so I don't worry so much about it.
1292  Other / Meta / Re: Has anyone here received bitcointalk phishing emails? on: December 25, 2023, 12:13:08 PM
I get some emails to my email with bitcointalk and I get occasional crypto phishing to almost every email I have.

But I had 3 accounts with bitmain and bitmain was fully hacked  which is likely why I get bothered.
1293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if all Bitcoin is lost? on: December 25, 2023, 12:05:40 PM
What would happen if all Bitcoin is mined and all Bitcoin is lost?

Okay look at this

50 ______________2009 to 2012
25                           2012-2016
12.5                         2016-2020
6.25                        2020-2024        right now in 2023 fees are running 1-4 coins a block
 3.125                       2024-2028
 1.5625                      2028-2032
 0.78125                     2032-2036
 0.390625                    2036-2040
 0.1953125                   2040-2044
 0.09765625                  2044-2048

The right question is will we get fees straightened out in the next 4 ˝ ings.

not what happens in 2140

Sure why not?

viabtc is paying 120%. so if you mine there it is like 1 btc is 1.2 x 43000 = 51,600 not 43,000
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Too Expensive For Me. on: December 25, 2023, 01:55:45 AM
The value of Bitcoin has gradually reached great heights. It has become impossible for a new small investor like me to invest in Bitcoin. I am a very small investor. $2k wealth is mine. Well does Bitcoin provide any opportunity in future that I can invest.

realistically 2k is not going to ever be 1,000,000

Yes if you grabbed 100 btc at 20 usd each and held them til April of 2021

$ 2000 did become  $6,900,000 and it will likely never do that again.

In fact we very likely will never see a $20 investment item turn into $69,000 ever again in out lives.

I know of no item that was even lower than $20 actually lower than $1 that did what BTC did.

I do not count lottery tickets.

But that does not mean you can't turn the $2,000 into  $40,000 or more.

Heck I had a $2,000 IRA for 30 years it become $28,000 when I cashed it out.

1297  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: December 24, 2023, 08:08:07 PM
Now this one is weird, I know it's just one day and a half but:

Quote
Current Pace:   109.5857%  (245 / 223.57 expected, 21.43 ahead)
Previous Retarget:   Yesterday at 8:01 AM  (+6.9834%)

21 blocks ahead is just too much for just luck after a 6.9%, something big turned on in the middle of the last period and this is probably the effect of the adjustment not really matching the growth and a ton of luck on top of it, blockchair says 164 blocks in the last 24h, a full 20 blocks variance is, ....too much to just call it variance.
That again, who is pushing gear online during the holiday?  Cheesy

Rethorical question:
Quote
Hive got 7,000  Bitmain S21 Antminer
Cipher Mining revealed its acquisition of 7.1 exahash per second (EH/s) from Bitmain
Riot Secures 66,560 Microbt ASIC Miners to Boost Hashrate by 18 EH/s
Bitcoin Miner DMG Acquires 4,550 T21 Antminers for $12.1 Million

These are all at most one week old PR.

Which reminds me of
U.S money is just crazy, it is hard to understand.

Yup, and this is just one tiny fraction on what those guys can throw at something, the amount of wealth waiting on the sideline to bet on every possible opportunity is just mind blowing.
If it weren't for the halving I would say zettahash incoming!

no one simple down clock or upclock the gear is all online.

an s19xp can go from 100th to 140th.
and whatsminer can up or down clock very quickly.

picture this with 200 whatsminers they can go up and or down 20% with 3 or 4 clicks of a key board.

1298  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I got scammed by whatsapp contact and exchange on: December 24, 2023, 06:06:52 PM
Hi,

long story short, it just happend...and i knew i was so stupid, nobody must tell me that  Wink

I would be very thankfull if someone could help me what to do now, it all just happend.

in short:

- meet a contact on the internet (financial manager)
- chatted on whatsapp for some days
- i was shown a site with cryto derivate trading : crypto currency exchangex .com (remove spaces for valid adress!)
- deposit adress is trc20 : TBsLxV5Lu68kaKmC ddontd39XnS8dwEeFQ (remove spaces for valid deposit adress!)
- other website dresses on that site: domain: cryptocurrencyexz.com, email: support@cryptocurrencyexz.com
- i deposited 1k, did trades and could withdraw all
- i deposited 10k and traded, i received a "bonus"
- i had to deposit more to unlock and be able to withdraw
- after that i a "supertrade", the amount was to high and i became a "vip" member but need to deposit more
- i stupid idiot did it, because of the contact in whatsapp talk me in
- now i should deposit another amount to unlock the "money laundering" laws because me transaction was "intercepted" from an authority
- i did nothing more, so many red flags

overall amount deposited there is around 40k in USDT.

I know im an idiot!

so my question is what can i do to at least have a small chance to get something back.

what i have done in the last 2 hours is:

- saved all screenshots, chats, transactions and so on
- contacted a lawyer
- made a report to the police
- i informed tether about it and reported the website

i know here are a lot good guys and girls with good answers and much knowledge.
Can i do anything additionaly or has anyone any tip for me?

This story has ruined me, i know its my fault, but changes nothing on my status now. i could cry all night.

i just want to ask kindly if anyone has any tips for me.

Thank you so much!

So why did you not come here first and ask around.

To me if this is a true story oh well.

But I am not so sure it is real.

you were smart enough to find us after you got robbed? not beforehand.

How did you find us to complain about it?
1299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Too Expensive For Me. on: December 24, 2023, 06:02:53 PM
trying to self custody bitcoin even at $100 allotments is not feasible due to the bitcoin fee..
however some people are taking the risk of just using a centralised exchange as a bank account to keep balance of sats value and not withdraw to self custody.

or do 100 a week for ten weeks on an exchange then place the 1000 in your own wallet.

nicehash
kraken

both give access to LN

do a kyc at kraken. add cash buy btc. use LN

cost next to nothing.

but kyc and you can lose the coin or have the coin frozen.

do I like this no.

but I already have a kyc for nicehash

and I have a kyc for kraken.

i have electrum and it offers LN

I will play with it and do more on my LN thread. on how to use it.
