761  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Scam/Phishing Avalaunch Website on: October 21, 2023, 10:46:21 PM
Individual efforts to track phishing links will be futile. These scammers have armies of these sites and are ready to buy templates for their devices and prepare hundreds of sites daily, so focusing on how to verify these sites and teaching beginners how to avoid them is best.

I don't think it will be futile, and that's why there are a lot of hunters in this community to give warning to everyone. Of course, it's going to be a cat and mouse game, but everyone should involved themselves to at least reports this sites, we do our part and hope that no one will fall for the trap.

I began to notice that a significant percentage of scam topics on this board were linked to phishing links.

As you have said, they are like an armies of scammers in crypto industry and as we approach next year which is considered to be a bullish year, scammers are going to ramp up their activities so we should be very watchful and be critical that not every websites is safe.
762  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin current range: $25K to $32K on: October 21, 2023, 10:00:47 PM
The $32K resistance will not be very strong as the market continues to test higher resistance after $30K is broken. Optimism about the market recovery is running high considering that rumors about the approval of a spot bitcoin ETF have given strong fundamentals. I'm not sure about when we'll get past that range - but $32K shouldn't be considered too strong right now.

Currently the price of bitcoin is above $30K - that's good, but it would be even better if $30K became support. I expect the $31K resistance to be tested over the remainder of October - so that would make $30K good support for a breakout of $32K in November. I see people are more optimistic in December - but I tend to agree that it will start from November.

We might stay at the $29k-$30k range for a while though. But if we continue to trade above MA200, then we might see long term growth.

So it will be interesting whether we can really break $30k and remain bullish, because if that happens, then the bullish sentiments might continue till the end of the year and we will have a break out run to $40k.

It's really hard to comment on the effect of Bitcoin ETF though, yeah it could bring more money, but for me it's better if we really see it actually happen. And it might align with the bull run that can happen next year. So everything hangs on SEC right now.
763  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Traditional business or investing in bitcoin? which one is good? on: October 21, 2023, 09:42:32 PM
Let's discuss about our future here, since we talk about bitcoin all the time, I like to break that a bit and with some realistic questions for our future. We are all are thinking of our future, so I like to get your opinion between the two on what will you choose to secure your future.

If you believe in both, kindly elaborate on why you choose both and the potential impact on your future.

We have a saying, do not put everything in one basket. And hanggang ngayon I believed on that, we must always find a ways to have multiple sources money wise. So it's either you invest on bitcoin, stocks, real state or putting up a business.

At least you have several options under you, if one fails then you have others to cover for you. Like in bitcoin, for sure marami sa tin had experienced on 2017 bull run. And we thought that it's going to continue. Pero later on, we realized that bitcoin invested has it's ups and down, may bear and bull market. So kung umasa lang tayo sa kanya nung 2018-2019 so malamang hirap tayo. So we need to diversify as much as we can at maraming source of income.
764  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coins.ph hacked, $6 million lost? on: October 21, 2023, 09:19:07 PM
Yeah, Coins.ph hasn't confirmed the hacking allegations yet, but they also haven't disputed them, which, in my opinion, should have been their first response if the news isn't true.
That's a weird response to a direct question. If it was lie, they should have cleared the situation and instead they went with "your funds are safu" narative which only make this whole situation even more suspicious. Maybe it was an inside job so Coins.ph is trying to kinda hide it not to ruin their reputation.

It's surprising that no reliable news outlets have reported on this incident yet, despite it happening yesterday.
This (alleged) incident didn't happen yesterday, it happened 4 days ago, on Tuesday. Its just that The Block released the news yesterday.

I'm not going to touch based on the issue if it is a inside job or not.

But I'm trying to piece everything together, maybe the hack had happened more than 4 days ago. I got a message from them on October 14, at 9:53 A.M. Philippine Local Time about a system upgrade.

And the news was released around the time of the system maintenance.

Still no official notification about this supposedly hack.
765  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coins.ph hacked, $6 million lost? on: October 21, 2023, 09:00:57 AM
Yeah, I read the news and we have been discussing it as well in our local boards, before we have a local represented of coins.ph, however, it seems that they are no longer responding, Coins.ph Official Thread.

Although it is considered to be the trail blazing platforms from the Philippines, in the last couple of years there have been a lot of local competition as well and their services have been deteriorating.

Anyhow, I don't store big amounts in the platform, it's centralized and we all know that it's not a good practice.

Will wait though from their official channels if this news is true or not, regardless (they usually takes time to respond), it's a big blow to coins.ph credibility again.
766  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can it be real bull or just a temptation. on: October 20, 2023, 11:26:04 PM
It was a great surprised to me this morning seeing the market price increasing above $29k that made me to asked this question, if it's real for bull market to happen in this month of October or is just a temptation that will make people to release their BTC to the market before the massive bull will take place. If the price of BTC can reach this level $29k at this time, show that real bull will take place next month of November till next year ending for investors to use the period to earn more incomes from their investment and to plan well ahead of another bear to come. If this new increase turn to temptation in the crypto market by turning back to dumping again which are some of the things investors don't want to experience in this season because, it will cause Many losses to investors. Do you think this is a real bull that will lead to investors expectation? Or is just a temptation that will make people to rush to the market to sell and regret at the end? What is your opinion.

You just have to look historically for the month of October and you can clearly see that it is very positive. So with that, and as what we have seen already, a huge increased and we might touch based $30k again, I think that pattern will continue.

On the other hand, I don't understand why everyone should be tempted though, it's not yet the bull run that we are expecting. At least if we are going to sell then look for the new all time high. So this could happen around 2024-2025, so still for me, the best thing to do is accumulate and not thinking of selling at this point.
767  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Malicious Red Alert apps on: October 20, 2023, 06:25:16 PM
I don't know about other countries but in my country, if you have a phone and it has a sim card with your number on it, it sends you an alert message of what impending disaster you're going to have to prepare although it's mostly earthquakes and typhoons, I am sure that a war or an invasion will definitely be sent through those alerts. You can check in your country if they do have that kind of system too so you don't have to rely on this kind of apps and risk downloading the malware kind and if you don't then just keep an eye on the news; international and local, also learn your geography so you're not needlessly worried when a war erupts.

Yeah mate, we are lucky that we have those in our country, and just like last week we have an earthquake and right after, our phones ring coming from our disaster committee.

But I understand what the OP wanted to meant here, and I remember that I have posted warnings before during the pandemic wherein hackers and criminals are taking advantage of the situation and created a lot of websites related to covid. But in the background it's full of malware and everything is fake and they just wanted you to download. And once you fall and download anything, it will install malicious code like malwares.
768  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance's Growing Legal Troubles: Are They Facing a Crisis? on: October 20, 2023, 05:16:28 PM
Lawsuits are not uncommon when it comes to settling disputes in the financial area, including crypto business area. I don't think that the SEC suing Binance automatically means that Binance committed any crimes, or that Binance will go down the FTX road. With FTX, there was a clear problem of people losing a lot of money and circumstantial evidence that it may not have been a legitimate bankruptcy. But Binance seems to be doing well in that regard, so even if Binance loses the case, I think they'll just end up paying a lot of money, but they'll stay in business and remain a major exchange.
That being said, I totally agree with others in the thread that remind everyone that it's best not to keep BTC on centralized platforms.

And I don't think that CZ is just going to sit and not answer the case by the SEC against them. Even here in our country, Binance has also been in the radar of our government. But so far no legal case has been pursue against them although we have been warned in dealings with Binance specially their P2P as there are a lot of scammers (I almost fell victim to it).

In any case though, it really up to us, we all know all that we shouldn't trust anyone here, even as big as exchange as Binance is. So just like you said, we should keep our bitcoins in our own wallet, that we have total control of.
769  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: October 20, 2023, 04:50:32 PM

770  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin current range: $25K to $32K on: October 20, 2023, 04:09:32 PM
I don't know, but I voted that we can reach that price at the end of 2023.

Usually in the last quarter, we might see some spike in the price, just like what we witnessed this month. We reach $30k->$28k->$29,500. So the sentiments looks very positive even though we have the war in the Middle East in the background.

And even with that tension, I think bitcoin will continue to become a hedge, just like what it shows during the pandemic.
771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 20, 2023, 03:46:48 PM
This is certainly sad news. This announcement was also mentioned in Teddy Atlas' podcast and he expressed the blame on the promoters. It was very much similar to what I have said about much of these boxing events being similar to scam ICOs where the promoters hype the ICO, collect the money then dump on their own customers hehehehe.

These ICO scammers do not add anything to the cryptospace and similar to some of these events, they do not add anything to the sport of boxing.

Showtime is the network trying to convince us that Tank Davis is a champion in many divisions because of all these BS interim belts he won from the corrupt WBA. In fact, many PBC on Showtime fights had some sort of WBA title at stake. They legitimized these scammy organizations and are paying the price for it. Haymon will probably manage to get a deal with another network only to leave them holding the bag for these overpaid phony champions.

Good point right there. I am sad that Showtime left because together with HBO they made legendary fights that will never be forgotten. But part of me is happy because I do not like PBC. Since Showtime made an exclusive deal with PBC, the network sucked already. PBC most of the time is all about cherry-picking and nonsense PPVs. The most annoying memory I had was the times Danny Garcia headlined garbage fights before having the balls to fight with the other big names. And then at present, it is Tank Davis fighting tomato cans. One thing is clear though, Showtime and PBC have a solid casual community and fanbase.

I heard PBC is currently negotiating with Amazon Prime. There's also the chance that DAZN will partner with PBC.

Yes, that's what I heard, DAZN and PBC might partnered after the sad news that Showtime is exiting the boxing business. Or maybe there is another entity that will enter the picture so who knows.

And if the DAZN + PBC partnership materialized, then boxing will obviously continue and it could be a great deal for us boxing fans. Prices though might still continue to go up. But at least there will be someone to broadcast the fight for us. So it's up to the fans if they are still willing to pay for a great fight to see.
772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Stevenson vs De Los Santos - Nov 16 on: October 20, 2023, 02:28:31 PM
And as per Shakur, he said that maybe Delos Santos is a harder boxer to fight as compare to Frank Martin. Maybe he is just saying this to hype the fight and try to just annoyed Martin as he was supposedly the original fighter that Stevenson was to fight, agreed in verbally and then in the last minute doesn't want to and duck Shakur.

So we will see, we still have a month to go before this fight happens. For now Shakur is the outstanding favourite. But we can only hope that Delos Santos is a tough fighter that will give Stevenson a good test.

That's what he should be saying if he wants to hype up this fight, you know? He knows he's not up against a big-name opponent, so convincing fans to tune in can be tough. But if he starts making some noise and claims his opponent is worthy, that could get people interested. Shakur is the clear favorite according to the bookies; it seems like a one-sided match, and they predict an easy win for him. So, for the regular fans, they might think this fight won't be as exciting as advertised. That's where promotions come in – more trash talk and hype might be just what this fight needs to succeed, I guess.

Right, although Shakur is a great boxer and potentially a legend, he somewhat like Crawford, he had a hard time filling up the seats unless the fight is going to be in his hometown, as compare to the likes of Tank Davis and Ryan Garcia, they know how to sell their fights because of their style and their social media following.

And perhaps that is what Shakur is trying to built up, creating buzz so that more people are willing to watch his fight and so he will be a PPV star in the future. So he needs to trash talk, and hitting two birds with one stone with that statement, against Frank Martin and then hyping Edwin De Los Santos as worthy opponent for him.
773  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: October 19, 2023, 01:39:25 PM

At mas maganda nga yang labanan nila ni Wemby sa pagka rookie of the year this year.

774  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach all-time-high before halving. - BitQuant on: October 18, 2023, 10:23:06 AM
Of course, an increase will occur soon, even though currently the price seems difficult to increase, the report that many companies are adopting Bitcoin is a reason for us to be optimistic that Bitcoin users will continue to increase and of course this will have an impact on the price increase that will occur soon.

I think it's more than that, to be honest, if there will be bitcoin adoption, it should come from simply investors like us, the retail and not those big companies and whales because clearly, they have some narrative behind why they want to invest huge on bitcoin.

On the contrary, ordinary investors like the majority of us here are the true users, for payment scheme, remittances cross border of even as store of value and then we are going to sell to make a profit, and the cycle goes on. Big institutions are going to accumulate as much as they can and hoard and HODL.
775  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Can we create a thread/post in english here the same as Indian Board? on: October 18, 2023, 09:38:51 AM
I was browsing through the local Indian board and noticed many topics there are in English. It got me thinking - maybe we could do the same thing in our community and see how everyone responds to it. I understand that not all of us are fluent in Tagalog, as we have users from different provinces and various dialects, given that we live in a large country, right? So, I find it easier to respond and create topics in English. Since Filipinos are generally proficient in English, why not allow it in our conversations here?

There are numerous benefits to this idea. For one, we can already practice and improve our writing skills, which is something that some users value. So, what are your thoughts on this? I'd love to hear your opinions. If any of the mods have the time to reply to this, it would be great to read their thoughts on how this change could help our community grow and improve at the same time.

Yes, I think we can all create a English thread here locally, and I don't see any problem with that, majority of us can understand and speak English fluently as it is our second language.

However, I still prefer Tagalog though, I mean this is why we have our local boards and as least we can understand and express our thoughts as native Tagalog speaker.
776  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney on: October 18, 2023, 07:54:23 AM
Here is the video of the initial press conference to promote the fight,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzY12CDWpT0

Skill vs skills, it's not power vs skill as per Regis, he said that he is training very hard so we will see what skills he is talking about here.

So there's a lot of heated words thrown against each other already and so this is going to be going to be a interesting fight.

This is a sad day for boxing,

@DanRafael1
A sad day for #boxing but not unexpected. Showtime Sports will be shuttered at end of the year and with it Showtime Boxing will pass into history after a 37-year run that includes many of the biggest and best fights of that time. I feel for the many who will lose their jobs.

https://twitter.com/DanRafael1/status/1714320545985003771

Well first it was HBO Sports stopped operating after 45 years in 2018. And now after 5 years, Showtime Sports had followed suit. We all know that this two competing to give us the best boxing in the last couple of decade.

Hopefully DAZN or even ESPN can carry the mantle after this sad news.
778  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC go above $30,000? on: October 17, 2023, 09:05:42 PM
Now we have tasted $30,000 as the market rises yesterday spontaneously, though it was believed to be as a result of fake news, yet we are more desperate to see the market pump even beyond this as we are getting closer to halving, more of these should be expected either from the news event trending or from the way the market demands increases or decreases on bitcoin supply, this makes October a month where $30,000 or more is very possible for the market to attain before November.

30k level shows significant resistance even after such news. It will not be straight up to the market. There will be more ups and downs in the market and to make matters worse there can be a shake in the market to create panic for those investors who were patiently waiting for the halving. October is a month of bull so I won't be surprised if we see another correction in the months of November or December.

Yeah, everything was fake then, the rise because of that news from cointelegraph. But it just shows that we can reach that price again if there will be significant and true news like the approval of Bitcoin spot ETF.

Although the price is still at the uptick of $28,400. And with another 2 weeks or so this month, who knows. Maybe there will be another news, this time it's real that will push the price above $30k and then sustain that right because of that news this month.
779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 17, 2023, 08:52:15 PM

This may not be of interest besides the name but Scottie Pippen Jr. has been waived by the Lakers. He wasn't able to make most of the opportunity given to him and I think the preseason game against the Bucks had a big role in the management's decision since he played quite poorly.

That's just the way it is, if you don't have something to put on the table, you are out because everyone has their own contribution to the team, and since the Lakers is a championship team, their standards are high. Therefore, he should really work hard because his competitors are not gonna miss some chance to prove their worth and they have been practicing a lot so when they are given a chance to showcase their talent, they execute it well and impress their team.

The caliber of players of the Lakers right now is top-notch, that's why even if you are in the roster, like Pippen Jr, he has to work hard to earn that spot in the team. Unfortunately as competition is very tough, he was given the opportunity, but wasn't able to exploit it that's why it was a hard decision for the Lakers to let him go.

For sure they were high hopes since he is the son of a legend, but we all know that they are not the same. Hopefully he learn something from his Lakers stint so that he can improved and motivate himself.
780  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ETF Approval: Fueling Bullish Momentum? on: October 17, 2023, 12:36:27 PM
I am more excited about how many followers will unfollow Cointelegraph after this. I already did that, and I am waiting if more of their followers will do the same. Spreading fake news from a big news outlet is not a good thing and I'd like to see someone who will pay for this shitshow that happened. It's an obvious manipulation of the market and many bite it because they know they are a legitimate news outlet.
SEC won't just approve this Bitcoin ETF, they may have said they won't fight back but they can still extend the approval for so long that investors are starting to get bored about it.

Doesn't matter though, if you look at other crypto related websites, majority of them could have at one point released news that is not true. It just so happen that cointelegraph was caught redhanded on this one.

And now crypto enthusiast riding the hype, saying that the bull run is here, as the news was released, the price was pump to $30k and then now we are in the $28k++ price range. Not saying that SEC might not approved any Bitcoin ETF in the future, but this was a big blunder by cointelegraph.
