1681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: March 09, 2023, 10:32:20 PM
I wasn't able to stay up to watch the press conference live because it's like 3:00 AM here when it started, (I just saw Ryan being interviewed alone and then I took a nap).

Their face-off was something you expected because both of them are full of confidence to be the winner in this fight and they cannot stop their trash-talking because this is badly needed to gather as much support as their need for their upcoming fights. though they don't really need that because they are already popular, trash-talking is the most anticipated thing to watch before they step in the ring to fuel their rivalry and excite the fans. they have been calling each other for a fight and now that they finally have the schedule, it will be a total war for these two, and fans from their both respective countries are expectedly the loudest at the stadium.

And the reason why Ryan as just the one person being interviewed in this fight at the supposedly press con time? it's because it was reported that Tank Davis was late for almost 2 hours. Not sure if that is intentional or what or maybe he is trying to play mind games and telling that he is the A-side in this fight.

Nevertheless, Lol, rehydration clause? I know that it's becoming the norm for some fight and this could be the contention that fights fall because it's too much. But Ryan Garcia gave to their demands and probably the ring size too could favor or at least the camp of Davis wanted a bigger or small size.

Yes, I also found out later that Tank Davis is late for the press conference. Not sure if this is intentional on his part though, I will have to check out again his previous press conferences if he has this habit of being late? Maybe it's time to add this to their contract as well that either should not be late in the media as this look unprofessional? hehehe

Anyhow, Tank has an answer to that, he said that he was caught up with the traffic, and he admitted that it is indeed unprofessional on his part, specially this fight of huge magnitude. And he apologizes to the media.

As for the tickets, I thought it has started already, but we need to wait for a couple of hours. There is a timer as well:

So for those who are stateside, you can see the price.

Since the list includes a lot of boxers, I think it's worth a share here: Top 50 Highest-Paid Athletes of All Time.

It include, maybe some of the names are to be expected like Floyd and still the active Canelo Alvarez although he barely made the cut.

No. 8:   Floyd Mayweather: $1.41B; $1.11B
No. 16: Mike Tyson: $875M; $455M
No. 21: Manny Pacquiao: $725M; $560M
No. 24: George Foreman: $680M; $355M
No. 27: Oscar De La Hoya: $665M; $410.3M
No. 38: Evander Holyfield: $600M; $310.2M
No. 48: Canelo Alvarez: $525M; $460M

And so if you have questions about the methodology,

1683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK sponsored by Utopia on: March 08, 2023, 11:49:28 PM
Well it was revealed by Alexander Krassyuk promoter of Usyk, that Fury and his camp turns down a 50/50 split, meaning Fury is asking for the bigger pie obviously. And then they said 60/40 for the winner of the fight?

But still Fury turn it down, so whoever we believed right not, still boils to numbers, and how much Fury is going to make in this fight. It's not like there is money in the table, and everyone agree to split in in the middle or the other camp got the bigger pie. Fury is looking for a specific numbers in this fight according to Krassyuk. And with this revelation, the negotiation has hit a wall.

^^ Best of luck on that wonderful parlay.

Last night though my parlay was destroyed when the Knicks lost their game as they are a huge favorite against the Hornets.  Sad.

But for tonight, I will do another parlay as well with Nuggets -6.5 + Hawks -1.5 + Dallas ML at 4.98.

Yeah, it happen to me a couple of times mate, so what I do is and the same with you, if it will be a mistake but gonna be putting us to win, then it's good. But the sad part is that it's a big fat L, hehehe.

- just double check your bet before placing it.
- in Stake, you can shift your Bitcoin to your local currency. This is what I did to prevent this kind of error in our side because you will be betting on our local currency so it's hard to make that big mistakes again.

I wasn't able to stay up to watch the press conference live because it's like 3:00 AM here when it started, (I just saw Ryan being interviewed alone and then I took a nap).

In any case, here is the short version of the press conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG-pE6IHB2E

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Im1aLhPZLg -> Face-off, wish there was no sounds in the background so that we can hear what each other is saying. Maybe later there will be videos surfacing along though.

Pre ticket sales will start tomorrow, so I will try to monitor the numbers as well so see if it will be sold out or not.
1687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 08, 2023, 10:50:12 PM
Pretty emotional scene at Pau Gasol’s jersey retiring ceremony. Plenty of tears in the house seeing Pau’s Jersey hanging next to Kobe’s. The picture of Pau looking up with tears in his eyes is enough to put a lump in anyone’s throat. I’m glad that their jerseys get to hang next to each other forever. They were great friends and it still shows.

I do agree, Kobe are really close and Kobe himself admitted that he won't win those championships without "brother" Pau as his wing man. And it's just so fitting that Gasol will be recognized by the Lakers franchise and his jersey retired next to Kobe Bryant.

So much respect for Gasol, Butler was seen in the building carrying Pau's Lakers Jersey with him and then hugging the Gasol.

Tatum set to return for the C's, they need to win this one against Portland tonight.

@wheelz1200 - Yes, Kobe setting the tone on that game, the thing is Kobe knows that play as he tells everyone what will be their 1st play and he will go to Pau's chest without any hesitation and again show everyone that even though they are brothers in Lakers, it's the Olympics, and Lebron, Wade and others shows what leadership means to Kobe.
1688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Shuichiro Yoshino April 8 on: March 06, 2023, 11:47:22 PM
^^ I would agree, decent to good opponent for Shakur but I doubt that he can upset Stevenson at this point. So I will have to put Shakur here winning maybe by a knockout or complete domination of the fight.

No offense to the Japanese fighter, he had the belt in Asia, beat Nakatani who gave Teo Lopez all he can handle and also fought Loma in his comeback fight. But that is not enough resume to beat the likes of Shakur right now.
Same feedback here. This Japanese boxer may have achieved past winning performances but I don’t see him a perfect match for Shakur. Though both are professionals on their own career, but seeing this Japanese boxer past performances, I would say he won’t easily beat Shakur because Shakur is definitely a tough and hard to beat opponent. Still, this will test them both who will dominate the fight and maybe still make a good fight in the end.

Speaking of Nakatani, this is the video of their fight,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4-V1g25bKY

And you'll be the judge if Yoshino has the tools to beat a great fighter in Stevenson. I think if Shakur wanted to score a knockout, he can do that in this fight, just saying. And looking at the odds, it's very much as juicy as we can take, it's 3.x, hehehe. And I don't think that odds will change, we can make that beat even at the fight date is closer.  Smiley
1689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: March 06, 2023, 11:32:09 PM
In the beginning there were 3 venues considered for this fight, and then it was cut to 2 when they say that it will be in Vegas, so it's either

a. T-Mobile Arena - 22,000 sitting capacity
b. MGM Grand Garden Arena - 17,000 sitting capacity

So base on that numbers alone, I wouldn't be surprised if T-Mobile will be their obvious choice.

But we will have to see on the press conference.
It will be a disgrace if they pick the MGM arena over T-Mobiles  I think MGM has less atmosphere and the ticket prices are as expensive as the T mobiles. I want as many fans as possible and I am disappointed that they are fighting in vegas I think it would be better to go to bigger venues in other states. I do not know why vegas is always picked for big events is it because the commission is less strict?

I think it's the big money that is coming from this boxing events, it used to be New York in the early days of boxing, Ali vs Frazier, - fight of the century was held in MSG. So it's all about the money that the city is going to make, Floyd make Vegas his home, and there are great fights in the city.

And since this is a big fight, everyone will come to watch, bringing in their money that week, playing in casinos, eating in restaurants. Not sure about the income tax for fights though or for this boxers, but then there is the Federal Income Tax.
1690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 06, 2023, 11:11:52 PM
I'll just put one bet tonight, I'm in a losing streak so I will take it easy.

Nuggets vs Raptors - Denver -5.5 @1.87. Top team in the West and they are going to play at their home court and coming from a rest. And they are also in a sort of winning streak, just 3 but probably extend it against Toronto. Raptors are a good team, but the problem with them is that they are inconsistent and barely a .500 team.

Good win by the underdog Knicks, close game between the Mavs and the Suns, it was a amazing game, Luka against Booker, hehehe, two very competitive players, but as Luka says, the trash talking should start with the game was 0-0, not when the Suns had a 3 point lead and ready to get that win already.
1691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin stays we can do greater things: Hospital charity visit on: March 06, 2023, 10:50:35 PM
Sorry to hear that mate, actually I had the same case with you, 2 years ago, my sister suddenly fell and we thought it was a heart attack and we brought her to the hospital, it was still in the heart of the pandemic, so you can't just go visit the hospital that time. And then after a whole week, we finally get her out of the hospital. But we have to foot the bill obviously, so I have to sell some of my BTC stash to help her, and I didn't second thoughts of selling that time and the timing was perfect as we are in the bull run, regardless though, I will sell no matter what. Unfortunately, as a result of her being hospitalized, lots of findings pops up, including cancer that is in the advantage stage. And last year in November she passed away (sold some again). For sure, positive karma will go on your way and I will pray for your cousins speedy recovery.
1692  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: March 06, 2023, 10:39:18 PM

Sacramento Kings -5.5 vs New Orleans Pelicans

Sumobra na ang kaangas nya at out of control. So malamang severe penalty to kay Ja, suspension without pay at posibleng felony charges pa na makakasira ng career nito.
1693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: March 06, 2023, 10:29:30 PM
Fight is officially declared to happen May 7 in Japan, at Yokohama Arena. In this is Inoue's home town to expect that the arena will sell off, 17,000 sits are available so it's almost the same as MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The reason why promoters choose Japan as the venue. Aside from it can generate the same revenue when it is held in the other big venue instead outside Japan, Naoya Inoue, being super popular in Japan will boost the market sales.

Imagine, just in Japan alone, the expected revenue is really big and what's more, if they will count PPVs outside the country.

I hope others who questioned the venue will have their mind clear about why Inoue is fighting in Japan mostly on his career. It's not that he doesn't want to stay out of his comfort zone but business side, he's really a cash cow by the Top Rank in Japan. Establishing and building a legacy while taking advantage of the business side.

Yes, that is true, the money that is being generated in Japan alone is going to be huge, as per reports, they are going to split the guaranteed $ 8 million, Inoue getting the lion share. And maybe this is the reason, why PBC and Fulton are willing to travel to Japan,

https://twitter.com/YoungDanielDad/status/1615906940101566464

And as Fulton said,

Quote
"I feel like I have the style to beat anyone -- I can adjust and do whatever to beat anybody."

https://www.boxingscene.com/fulton-on-inoue-i-feel-like-i-style-beat-anyone--172923

So let's see how far Fulton can go against Inoue, he struggles against a volume punching in Figueroa, then he level it up facing the Monster, this time, it's not how many punches Inoue will throw, it's going to be the accuracy and the power behind, be in a jab or right overhand.
1694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 06, 2023, 10:17:25 PM
Not sure if this is just the beginning for Morant or he might serve longer suspension because of that video.

As far as the latest information regarding Morant's issue is concerned, I will assume already that Ja Morant might not return to action in the remainder of the season until in the latter part of the playoffs if they will able to advance. There's no room in NBA to do such an act. I might be wrong though.

Should serve a lesson now for him. What an unfortunate thing happen to him in just the early period of his career.

With what happened, the whole Memphis Grizzlies now need to do some adjustments to fill Morant's absence.

Right, same here, so he will be out indefinitely as there are investigations by the NBA itself and there could be legal ramifications here. They are looking at where and the exact location of the video, that club where he was show flashing a gun. It is right after the Denver game, so if it is in that place then he might have brought it with him in the place. And so it will be a severe punishment from the NBA as they are very strict bringing firearms in a NBA facility. And we have seen the effects already, they already lost their first game without him. And it's going to be very difficult for the NBA to punished Ja Morant as he is one of their brightest young stars. So Memphis and coach Jenkins will have to make a lot of adjustments now ad there are no timeline for Morant's comeback.
1695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: March 06, 2023, 10:00:19 PM

If Donaire can't keep up with Santiago, he won't surely can't keep up to the lower division and better just retire.

I totally agree with you. Donaire is now in the right division, and Inoue is giving them a chance to be a champ, so it's a good opportunity for Donaire to win again. He was once a champion in this division; it's just that Inoue took that from him. Now that Inoue is gone, it's time for him to come back.

Changing divisions is usually only good for young boxers. Donaire is not young; he is already old.

At 40 years old, his body will be having difficulty in coping up with the weight changes for sure.

I guess their camp already know Donaire's current situation and probably already acknowledge that if Donaire will not be successful versus Santiago, then a retirement will be his only option. You know, that is just sad because it's not a good exit for him but it is what it is. Well, in the positive side, Donaire's chances are greater than decent because this Santiago is not really a threat.

Nonito's manager is Rachel Donaire, so any slight chance in Nonito will be noticed by her as she is the wife after all. And I don't think that she is willing to his husband be punished and damage if she knows he can't pull that trigger anymore. And she is the biggest influence to Nonito, and I'm seeing that if Rachel tells Nonito to stop then obviously he will. Fortunately, Rachel believed his husband can make another run on the belt, in short she makes all the shots in Nonito's career. I don't want to gossip or something, but in the past, there were accusations against her by Nonito Sr, causing a severe relationships between the Donaire's. Anyhow, this is Donaire's last ticket, he is going to be the favorite in this fight. And a win undeniably will make Nonito a world champion and will have to defend his belt, and so it will be a per fight basis for him moving forward, whether to continue or hang his gloves for good.
1696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 06, 2023, 05:57:14 PM
Mark Magsayo lost again in a crucial fight for a belt, it is true no Filipino boxer right now doesn't have a belt, and it is really frustrating but at the same time feel's OK about it at the same time, but Here are the result of my picks

We have 1 I believed and that is Melvin Jerusalem who won against the Masataka Taniguchi in Japan last January for the Minimumweight/Mini-Flyweight   105 lbs. And it was thought to be a good start for the Filipinos, unfortunately Mark lost again for the interim belt against Brandon Figueroa. But hopefully we can add another one or even two if Vincent Astrolabio or Nonito Donaire can with their respective championship match in the bantamweight division. We just had a drought actually, but for sure we will come back strong and bounce before the end of the year.

As for the lost of Jared Hurd against hard hitting Armando Reséndiz, I think it's enough for him though, long layoff, ring rust could attributed to his lost. But I think he doesn't have that that "thing" anymore to fight. Or if there is anything on that fight, Hurd seems to be out of his prime, poor defense, trying to do the shoulder roll which is not effective for him because he doesn't have the reflex anymore so it's hard to pull that style to a more quicker Reséndiz. One thing against Reséndiz in my opinion is that he is too small for 160 lbs.
1697  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for March on: March 06, 2023, 05:03:58 PM
Personally I think there are many events that may or may not reverse the bullish trend for bitcoin to break through the major resistance at $25k, seemingly waiting for a response of
1. Silvergate
2. Mtgox
3. CPI  US February
4. FED adjusts interest rates.
Therefore, volatility will be fast but I guess the up/down won't be much.  Therefore, I think bitcoin is likely to cross $25k for the third time this year but it will close at 23k5 in march.  Probably not

It could be, but if I may add:

1. Silvergate - I think the issue or the effect of this news has subsided already, yes it did put a dent, but not that much, we are still above $20k, $22,500 as of this writing.
2. Mt. Gox - I'm still on the fence if this will really be a big factor for this month or even for the next 6 months as it supposedly be paying out
3. CPI - For March, we will have to see, and just like the other CPI, if there is a pivot then it will be good for us, if the numbers goes up, maybe we can go down again, but it's not going to be like for a month, maybe a week and that's it, buyers be like buying again
4. FED - same with with I mentioned above, it's all about the numbers

$25k will still be the our biggest barrier that we need to break, but with the current might, it might be difficult again. So I expect some kind of sideway pattern until we have a break out run.
1698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: crypto market has grown in africa on: March 06, 2023, 04:34:26 PM
While reading some articles, Just found the headline "Crypto market has grown in Africa by 1200%". The greatest opportunity for the people of Africa to discover more about crypto and new web3 technology. Moreover, there is a chance that people would also start paying and accepting crypto.

Maybe the article you read in somewhat outdated? and that numbers was around the bull run in 2021,

Quote
n a report released on Tuesday, Chainalysis said Africa’s crypto market increased in value by more than 1,200% between July 2020 and June 2021, with high adoption in Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria and Tanzania. The company added that the popularity of P2P platforms could have been one of the driving factors toward greater crypto adoption in the region, given some countries have restricted or banned residents from sending money to exchanges through local banks.

According to Chainalysis, the entire continent received $105.6 billion worth of crypto between July 2020 and June 2021. Yet, it had a share of the market’s overall transaction volume made up of “retail-sized transfers” larger than any other region in the world — roughly 7% as opposed to the 5.5% global average. In addition, P2P platforms — including Paxful and LocalBitcoins — account for 1.2% of all crypto transactions in Africa.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/africa-s-crypto-market-has-grown-by-more-than-1-200-since-2020-chainalysis

So it make sense that time that it will grow tremendously because of the bull run, so it might be interesting what will be the numbers today. But I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers keeps growing, and maybe it could also be use by the continue as remittance as Nigeria ranks in the top 10 amongst global money remittances.

Even Binance P2P Supports New Payment Methods for African Countries. So for sure, it's really untapped sector right now and it's value will increased overtime.

But I will not be surprised if Fulton as the champion will be the underdog in this fight.
1700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Figueroa vs Magsayo WBC Interim Featherweight Title (March 4) on: March 06, 2023, 03:54:16 PM
Some people do not agree with the scorecards, as it seems like the gap is very big. Too bad for Magsayo, as he got deducted twice for score violations, but overall, his performance was not convincing, and Figueroa deserves to win. Magsayo needs to train more and probably change his boxing style, as his career is slowly going down.

I definitely agree that Figueroa deserves that win but i don't think the gap on the scorecards is justifiable. In the unofficial scorecards of the commentators, they scored it 114-112 in favor of Figueroa and if not for the point deductions, it could have been a draw in the unofficial scorecards and that point deduction by the ref is also questionable as he did not warn Magsayo not to hold or whatever that warrant a deduction if he keeps on doing it.

Anyways, that's boxing and it's understandable that the ref and judges will favor Figueroa as he is more popular in the US, also Mark Magsayo was not so impressive in that fight.

Congrats to the Figueroa backers here and if my memory is right, that should be 2.xx for Figueroa to win via decision.

I have it 115-111 in favor of Brandon Figueroa. But that scoring though is questionable. Anyways, time to move on, yes Figueroa deserves to win no doubt about it as we have seen he has more left in the tank specially in the championship rounds wherein he step up to finished the show.

I think Magsayo should take a rest for now, back to back lost in very hard to recover from.

Go back to the Philippines for now and reset everything.

maybe the feeling of weight drain got on magsayo in the later rounds. but in any case, a lot of users from the forum are rooting for magsayo, but don't know if they actually betted on him. magsayo knew he should have done something more on this fight. the scorecards are also way too wide for me. even with point deductions. so this fight should serve magsayo an inspiration for his next fight and do what he thinks would rise his standing in this division.

That's what I suspected, the weight issue might have taken it's effect on the fight in the later round that Magsayo was really out of gas and seems to be just hanging to survived. The first deduction, yeah I agree, but with the second, not sure though, Brandon too was doing excessive holding, but referee didn't do anything. And by the looks of the scorecard, one judge, score all of the final nine rounds for Figueroa, while the two judges sscored eight of the last nine rounds, doesn't make sense at all. But it is what it is though, I know that almost everyone is disappointed to see Mark Magsayo lose this one, but it should be close in the cards, just saying.  He is still young I know, but this kind of lost will take a lot, and might take sometime for him to recover mentally, and yes he should get a tune up in his next fight and see how it goes, if he can bounce back and rediscover his power again.
