1641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder - May 6th in Mexico on: March 14, 2023, 09:42:09 PM
Not that surprising because we have already heard this man's name even before Canelo Alvarez underwent to a much needed surgery because his wrist has been in pain since the Canelo-GGG III fight. I'm just glad that this fight is now a done deal because people are waiting for Canelo's return as he have a lot of boxer now queued to fight him afterwards, Canelo may put his belt on the line on this one but let's not forget that this is just a tune-up fight.

Yeah, hehehe, we have been discussing his name on the other thread, it's just this makes it's official now that Canelo will have a 'tune-up' fight against Ryder. He needs to put his belt on the line here, and it's going to be a homecoming fight for Canelo in Mexico. For sure, the fans are still going to buy the tickets even if he is facing lesser known opposition.

Good payday for Ryder though, for the kick off press conference and face-off, here is the video below:

1642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 14, 2023, 09:16:34 PM
Warriors won!
Steph and Klay were hot in the 1st half making a 25-point lead. But the Suns never gave up and pursued a close battle, they did and even got close to a 3-point lead. But the early foul trouble and bonus for the Warriors at 6 minutes left in the 4th are what made the difference, then there's Jordan Poole who suddenly got hot.
Did they shake hands after the game? I didn't see it. Seems like even Damion Lee is creating some trouble against Jamychal Green in garbage time.

Great to hear that the Warriors are back! They seem to be on a roll lately, with two consecutive wins against tough opponents in the NBA, the Bucks and the Suns. It's always fun to watch Thompson shoot his normal, and he seems to be more comfortable now in the 3 point line. He has been consistent lately with his shooting, which is great news for the Warriors.
Warriors won "ON THEIR HOME" where they have one of the best home records right now.

TBH, I'm more nervous than exciting on how the Warriors are playing this season. Yes the Warriors are winning on their home, and like you said, they beat Bucks and Suns who are at the top teams currently, but that's on their home. What if that happened on the road? Will it be the same.

That is the thing, it's not that new that we are witnessing the Warriors winning on their home but don't take it wrong, it still makes me excited whenever they are at home because the team is overshooting their stats as they are just so hard to beat at Chase Center or even in the Oracle Arena where the first homecourt of the present core players.

And it's not just the Warriors are good playing at home, if you look at the first 5 positions in both divisions, both have a winning record in their home court. It's that we enjoy watching them winning at home because they shoot very good, regardless of who their competition is. Just like against the Suns, they blow them up and Phoenix try to make a comeback, however, they step on the pedal again with their good shooting %.

But the fact is, I'm still not that convinced since Steph Curry returned because the Bucks and Suns that they defeated just recently are the teams who lacks their core players, Giannis and Durant respectively. Before that, when they are still on the road, they cannot even defeat the Grizzlies who doesn't have Adams, Clarke and Ja Morant which makes them so bad on the road. Now that they are back on their road games, which is 5 games in total, let's see if they can defeat those teams because the way I way I see it, the easiest one is the Houston Rockets.

It's gonna be hard for the depending champs, specially they don't have Wiggins in the lineup and how their championship team has been broken this year. So we will see how they are going to fair in this 5 road games. I think 3 of that games could be winnable for them.
1643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some of my big losses (Gamble Responsibly) on: March 13, 2023, 11:57:28 PM
Thanks for the clarification mate, indeed, we will only see or hear what gamblers are going to tell us, those big wins. But at least you open everything with those big bets that you put and it seems that it was a "sure win", nevertheless it was a very bad break to lose those games with incredible odds to win. Just surprises me though that you got a ton of PM's regarding your huge wins, hehehe. Still base on luck though, so I guess for them, they should take that risk and maybe one day they can win big just like what you reach the last time. Right now I'm on a losing streak myself, Lol, but I do know that one of this days, maybe lucky luck will smile on me.  Smiley
1644  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price guess for March on: March 13, 2023, 11:47:58 PM
Very hard to guess price when its so erratic like this, we struck the 200 day average and bounced high enough to clear a skyscraper.  Thats beyond normal, I presume news of bailout and various other actions perhaps helped power that some plus it just doesnt make too much sense to force BTC lower after we have already traded this area for months.
We drop during the first week of March but then after this, we are now trading at the price of $24k instantly, so its really hard to see the whole trend this Month but if we are able to break $25k, then we might see the price of $27k at the end of the Month which I totally believe is possible to happen considering its volume right now, its pretty solid.

We have to wait, (crossing our fingers), waking out to see the price again on the verge of breaking $25k. But after a few hours, it's on the lows of $24k, still though plenty of time for us for this March. And when we thought that this could be another bad March month, turns out to be some good rally and again, who knows, maybe we can finally go at $25k and be that support line. Of course, when we had 2 digits rally point, there could be some good news. And it was about the US Reserves says that they are going to inject liquidity to the US market. And this is going to be a relieved as it will have a domino effect and we have seen it already as traditional financial markets had good rally today as well.

And here is the official statement from the US agencies: https://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/pressreleases/monetary20230312b.htm

1645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: March 13, 2023, 11:30:03 PM
Well, this is going to be the biggest fight of the year as the PPV sales are sold in just five minutes, it's worth the hype and many years of wait I don't have the figure yet I saw this drop in my social media feed, what I'm sure of is it will surpasses all the other PPV before the fight happens, we will see many more videos of thrash talks because I doubt this two will stop, because the hatred and the dislike are real.

That was really expected considering these two are currently at their prime time and currently at their very best without injury the fight is also hard to predict because they are both capable of surprising their opponent with their fast and huge power punches. I wonder where else they could get money aside from PPV in this fight? is this the fullest money they can make when they sold it out?

PPV sales are sold in just five minutes? I really doubt that because the Garcia-Davis fight haven't released their PPVs yet as they are still on the ticket price right now, also, why would PPVs get sold out? There are unlimited numbers for that certain thing and it's not really limited as like the tickets because the seats are numbered compared to the PPVs which almost every household can subscribe about it as long as they got the money for it.

Its' not PPV (Pay Per View), it's the tickets for the live gates, meaning it's in the venue themselves. And we all know that there are price ranges. The closer you are (VIP tickets) to the boxing ring itself, the more the tickets become expensive. And in this fight, there could be celebrities, stars, athletes, boxers themselves or anyone that is rich that can afford that can of amount.

As for the PPV, we may later know the numbers once Nielsen Media Television Ratings or even the promoters themselves. There could be some small discrepancies in numbers though, but it will be close enough to come up with a good enough numbers based on the data.

1647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: March 13, 2023, 10:57:01 PM
Yeah, but he has his "excuses", he had his shoulder injury that time.

And we didn't see a rematch with a healthy Loma because Lopez refuses to give him that. Maybe he was afraid or just like take that win regardless if Loma says he has to carry that right with injury.

So so this is the closest that Loma will get to the point of getting all the belts, but it's not going to be easy as he is fighting a prime Haney.

I think that's a legit excuse for that loss but Loma never complained about that injury before the fight, might also be the reason why Lopez was afraid of giving him the rematch as he doesn't dominate Loma even if the latter had that injury.

I think this fight will cement the legacy of Loma as one of the best in the lightweight division, if he could win this one then i think he could retire like he promised two years ago but if ever he will loss then that's the end of him, i mean he just not meant to be the king of this division, he can't carry his speed and power in this 135lb division to beat the champs who are bigger than him.
It was just too unfortunate for Lomachenko that time because he was at the height of his career, just one bad shoulder and that resulted to a failure in his campaign towards beating Teofimo Lopez. If only Bob Arum and Loma had a rematch clause, they could've redeem their loss and the belts as well because Lopez will be forced to accept a 2nd fight. Then maybe Loma will have a different situation right now.

Unfortunate turn of events indeed for Loma. If you gonna look back on how Haney got all these belts we can say that it's not so difficult, I mean his opposition was not so great. He only beats Kambosos then that's it, he is the unified champion which I think if only Loma directly fight Kambosos, Loma might be the unified champion if he was given the chance.

Bottom line, that rematch clause did some damage or can we say had a lot of say on why we are having this fight right now but maybe this is destiny for Loma, to get all the belts via betting a technical fighter same as him but bigger this time around.

Yeah, but we don't know if only Loma doesn't like to insert a rematch clause or both of them. And maybe he doesn't want the boxing world that he has his injury to be an excuse if he lost, so he proceeds with it. Just like when Russell fought Magsayo, he could have postponed the fight until it healed. But at the Lom vs Lopez, it's a high stake prize and for sure Lopez will say that Loma duck him with that injury excused. But it's history now, Teo doesn't have the belt anymore and Haney has his time when he beat Kambosos twice. Of course we wanted to see a 100% Loma against the big mouth Teo Lopez, but he is now a welterweight and Loma will not go that high and most likely stay at 135 lbs for years or when he retires.
1648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Tony Harrison vs Tim Tszyu - Mar 13, 2023 on: March 13, 2023, 10:40:29 PM
Thanks again for those boxing fans who made this thread alive before the actual fight. In summary, Tim Tszyu beat Tony Harrison in the 9th round.

Now we are expecting that Tim Tszyu will fight Jermell Charlo in the US sometime this year as Charlo is in the process of healing his injuries. And with this win by Tim, there's no doubt that he deserves a crack against the champion. So we will see in the future, Charlo says that he is going to be ready and that Harrison is never been the same after he beat him. Nevertheless, I will say impressive win by Tim Tszyu.
1649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 13, 2023, 10:30:08 PM
And that is the bad side of boxing and negotiations, the B-side will also take the small pie and the disadvantage unless he pulls an upset win. And in this case, Garcia will be the obvious underdog, but for sure he will be a live underdog as what they say, meaning he has a good chance to win as well.

"In general", that's not a considered bad side for me but rather just makes sense to happen especially weighing in terms of popularity or maybe tickets and PPV sales history. Referring to the mega bout between Davis and Garcia, I do think that anything related to the purse split isn't really a big concern. There is just part of the contract, outside the purse split concerns, that Garcia didn't want especially making some adjustments just for the fight to happen.

Regardless though, the boxing community should be thankful to both for pushing their fight and not taking another bout with other boxers even if "their surroundings" are telling them not to do that instead. One of the anticipated big fights this year will now be witnessed.

I agree though, it's not a bad side in general, it is what it is, we have the odds favorite and the underdog. And no matter what, in negotiations, there will always be something that will be in disagreement, and it can only be settled if the other side is willing to make a compromise and make that adjustments. And in this case, Garcia says "Yes", because he wants the fight to be done no matter what will be those unfavorable proviso in the contract. No more speculation and waiting, just like the failed supposedly fight between two of the best and unbeaten fighter, Spence and Crawford. And with that, now we are going to see one of the best fights for this year, or maybe the best fights if this is going to be a battle inside the ring.
1650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gamble continuously because have surrendered to the situation on: March 13, 2023, 10:20:43 PM
Very bad decision in my opinion, his mentality though, I somewhat pity this guy, like selling all what he inherited from his parents. Might be worst if he has a family of his own as it will be a big problem because he needs to bring food in the table. If only he will realized what he has doing is wrong, maybe he can change his life for the better. We don't want to hear from his selling everything to gamble until one day he doesn't have any assets and start to live in the streets and begging money for others just to survived.
1651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 13, 2023, 10:10:17 PM
Is Ja Morant back on the Grizzlies line up? I was just wondering because they are currently the favorite against the Mavs. Is it because they are on a winning streak while their opponent is still struggling to find that right balance? Maybe I'm missing something here.

Interesting developments in the West with less than a month to play. Top 3 teams probably through but still tough to call who will make it to the top 6 or even the play in tournament.

No, Ja Morant is out indefinitely by suspension. Yes, the Memphis is somewhat on the losing streak, and then the Mavs 0-2 right now. And the most important factor while they are the underdogs is that Kyrie and Luka are still out.

It's over now, the Nuggets still on the losing skid, they just lost to the Brooklyn Nets. But it was a good game as they comeback from a 11 deficit in the 4th quarter and just lost by 2 points. Jokic has the chance to take the lead, but he was double team. And then they foul and sent Bridges to the line with 1.8 seconds like, making 1 out 2. And in the final seconds, Jokic has again had the ball in his hands, but it was a bad shot in my opinion. They are still seeded number 1 in the West and slim chance to lost that seeding. However, they need to start to win again. This lost is big because it's in their homecourt. They will have to travel to Toronto for their next game.
He averages 24.7 points, 12.0 rebounds and 10.0 assists this season. Even though he's a center, he's playing with a triple-double season average, it's really great. Definitely the biggest candidate for the mvp award, but it would be a great injustice if mvp is not chosen just because it will not be the third time in a row. The only thing missing is the championship. He will be called the best European ever if he wins a championship. I can understand the criticism he recieves about defending the basket but nobody is perfect. He is also not doing too bad, imo. Defense is not a one man work, it is a definitely team effort. Nuggets seems like on their way to a solid number 1 spot on the west. They will win the needed games.

Interesting that you brought out the numbers, against their lost to the Bulls, Luka didn't get a triple double, and they say it was one of the reasons for that big blow out lost against Chicago. But against their back to back losses, he had, very close triple double numbers but they still lost.

They are still the top seed, but they are showing their weakness right now, just like the Boston Celtics when they had a losing skid. So they need a good win, last 10 is 6-4. Tomorrow will be against the Raptors and I will say that it is a must win for them.
1652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 13, 2023, 09:53:43 PM
I'm looking at the Spurs vs OKC and I'm thinking that the Spurs might pull another upset win again?

So in any case, a ML line for them @2.36 and also 3.5 @1.96.

Knicks vs Lakers - Knicks is on a slump recently, so Lakers -2.5 @1.90.

Unfortunately, none of your bets have hit. It's disappointing to see the Lakers lose on their home court, and it seems like the Thunder won't allow the Spurs to beat them, as they have also been losing games recently. A win is very important for the Thunder, especially against a weak team. With the Thunder's win, they are now 5-5 in their last 10 games, while the Lakers' loss resulted in a 7-3 record, causing them to drop to rank 11.

Yeah mate, 0/2 for me, I did watch the Spurs vs OKC game in the 4th, I thought I have a chance to at least a 3.5 as they kept coming back. But at the beginning of the 4th, a missed easy lay-up and I say that my bet is over by that time.

The Knicks on the other hand, started very hot in the first quarter, Randle 18 points in the first alone. But the Lakers also made a good run and even was like 2 points down in the 4th. But tired legs I guess, they shouldn't allow the Knicks though with like a momentum throughout that game.
1653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: March 12, 2023, 11:44:15 PM
Caleb said that he was surprised by Benavidez antics, for him it's just a show and let everyone knows that he is the tougher guy. But Caleb is not deter with all the talks according to him. He will really come full prepared in this fight and as we have said, he seems to rediscovered his punching power, specially with how he knockouts Dirrell with that left hook. Just a couple of days from this fight, the face-off in the weigh-in will be huge for the fans and again we should expect the trash talking specially from David, and Caleb be cool with that or either shows his emotions. Plant is still 3:1 underdog in this fight.
1654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Tony Harrison vs Tim Tszyu - Mar 13, 2023 on: March 12, 2023, 11:24:36 PM
By the odds though, it seems that Tim Tszyu is going to win this fight. But I was surprised on how Tim was really in this fight, I mean yes early on it was a close fight but he slowly gain the momentum and even fight the fight of Harrison, in the inside and he was hit with that job but we have able to overcome it. So it's a A+ performance for him in front of his fans in his home turf. And with this, it's a good tune up fight for him. And the numbers don't like as he hit Harrison with 45% of his power punches, the score on the judges though at the time of stoppage in round 9, Tim leads all the judges 77-75. And he clearly sends his message to Charlo in this win.

Good tune-up fight indeed for Tim before facing Charlo. Have not seen the odds for this fight but i assumed that Tim was the favorite, seeing the fight highlight, it's a close one before Tim deliver those punishing bombs that finished Tony Harrison in the ninth round. The volume of punches was too much for Tony to handle, that's the factor and him taking that 45% of Tim's power punches that KO is inevitable.

Sooner or later, Harrison will really felt the power of Tim and I have the speculation that the weather really affected him in Australia, but that is not an a excuse the better fighter won.

I hope that promoters will now start negotiating for that Charlo vs Tszyu championship fight as it is what the fans wanted to see in the near future.

I think the contract is still in, and if Charlo backs out of this fight, it will be a clear duck and so it will affect his reputation.

Congratulations to Tim Tszyu for a well-deserved win, Tim Tszyu just prove that he is not afraid to take a hit to get a hit, he breaks down Tony Harrison with his jabs, body, and head punches this is a good preparation for the Charlo fight, he is popular in Australia before the fight but after this fight, the boxing world now knows him and he will become even popular if he beats Charlo for his next fight.
That's what I saw in this fight too. Tszyu was not afraid to get hit, probably because he did not respect the power of his opponent. It was his power shots that eventually knocked out his opponent. Although I knew from the beginning that Tszyu was heavily favored to win, I also noticed a weakness in him, which was that he wasn't quick enough to evade his opponent's punches. Anyway, congratulations to him.

The best weapon of Harrison is just the jab, and then Tim has a way to respond, looping right now and just moving his head left and right. So he take 1 shot in the face, but he then threw 1-2 punch in return and it was all power behind that. So perhaps he is willing to get hit, just to dish out his own punishment. But I guess it will be a different strategy against Charlo as obviously, he has more power, so Tim's chin will be tested and see if it can hold up to Charlo's power.
1655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: March 12, 2023, 11:13:22 PM
If Loma wants to get his reputation back after his Lopez fight he would need to go back and fight Lopez but I think the rematch did not happen because Loma did not have a injury to his shoulder instead he knew that he could not beat lopez because Lopez is at the top of his career and Loma knows he is slowing down and will be retiring soon.

Lopez though doesn't want to give Loma a rematch, because according to him, they acted like a d**k, and even if there is no rematch clause, both are under Top Rank and Bob Arum loves that rematch because all the money is going to be in-house. But as karma struck, Lopez fought Kambosos, very proud and brandish that he will knock out the Australian, but instead he was outsmart by Kambosos and then they themselves didn't get a rematch or pursue it and just step up in the next weight class.

Haney is probably his last big fight and I think he will retire shortly after but I hope he wins so he can retire on a win.

It could be his last chance to his dream of becoming undisputed, so let's see if Loma is really done and way out of his prime and the Haney is the man at 135 lb.s So if Loma still have some in his tank to win and becoming undisputed.
1656  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin go back to 19000 on: March 12, 2023, 10:47:07 PM
So yeah, clear as mud. Honestly didn't see it coming. Even with Powell's weird messaging on interest rate hikes, markets didn't immediately respond -- guess it took a while to sink it. Dollar's once more rising against euro and other currencies, and as expected Bitcoin's following suit.

So I think that's the cue for the next year or so. Dollar strength, and all reliant on what the Fed does.

The FED can't keep raising interest rates forever, else the economy would be entering a deep recession. At some point in the future, it's going to stop. That would be the moment for Bitcoin to go all the way to the moon. In the past few days, BTC went close to $19k but went back to $20k after USDC lost its peg.

I think we'll be able to see new lows for the cryptocurrency if the FED continues to increase interest rates through the course of the year. Maybe it'll go as low as $15k before bouncing back to its original market price? We can't expect any "bullishness" on the market until the next Bitcoin halving in 2024. That or the following year would be very exciting for those who bought BTC during the dip. Who knows if $100k becomes a reality soon? Just my thoughts Grin

As I have said in the past FED's announcement with regards to US numbers will also be bad for us. But the thing is that most crypto investors are very well aware of the impact and thus, maybe just waiting for the price to go down more, as you have said, < $20k and then started to stock pile again. And even with the Silvergate and the USDC issues in the last couple of days, the price didn't go that way below as others might have expected. Again, after that dip to $19k'ish, market has now bounce back to $22k. $100k might be our wish for now, but we all know that this is achievable in the next bull run.  Grin. And we all know how time flies in this market, the next thing we are already in the bull run and then we go back reading this old threads and we look at how and what we wish, Lol.
1657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fear of KYC requirements on: March 12, 2023, 10:37:40 PM
It may depend on their license as to whether they are even allowed to display that message. Casinos with a fake license or no license may display that message to try to get users to deposit and then KYC any wd to keep the funds.

True, that's one way to attract new users to their platform, put the magic word, "No KYC", but then when the users won big money and wanted to withdraw that's when some casinos stop them by asking personal documents and go thru KYC. And that's where all the accusations started because of this. So still up to us to be very careful specially new casinos popping up regarding KYC and withdrawals rules.

To me KYC is bullshit honestly. We make our crypto however we make it. We should be able to spend it however we want.

I guess KYC seems to be mandatory right now. Gone are the days wherein you just need a bitcoin address for withdrawal and then you are all set. So it's either we adapt or guess be selective of casinos that we are going to play as not to get trap by this whole KYC when we won.

1659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: March 12, 2023, 10:16:24 PM
Thank you, @Ziskinberg, for updating us on the schedule of the upcoming fight. Now that we have a confirmed date, we can mark our calendars and make sure not to miss it. While the betting odds may be in favor of Inoue, do any of you believe we will see a major upset?

2 pages back, @inthelongrun has posted the official date already, and the OP has acknowledge it but perhaps to just update the title of the thread.

As far as upsets, Fulton is the champion and a live dog, so it's possible, but it's unlikely to happen because of what we have seen on Inoue in his last couple of fights in 118 lbs. He just tear up that division, knockout Donaire and then gets the last of the belt against Butler with another knockout win as well. This might be a new division for him, but it just just 4 lbs of his last weight class so we don't see any problem and on the contrary, it might help him a lot because he doesn't have to weight drain himself trying to make the weight. And it will be in his native Japan, so Fulton will have to travel and put his belt on the line against the Monster, which could be a difficult task.

And so far the odds are per Stake:
