821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to invest 8k for passive income. on: November 06, 2023, 06:15:47 PM
Future trading is pretty risky better stop trading in futures if you don't have any knowledge about technical analysis.
There is no passive income and safe method that gives you $10 or $20 per day all investments always have risks.
Since you said that you already invested $8k in Crypto why not hold them for the long term and sell them when the price increases?

I'm not a financial expert but if you want to make a profit with your investment I suggest learn how to trade I have a bookmarked link that I can share check the link below then start learning about technical analysis.

822  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Fake Leger Live app. on: November 06, 2023, 05:50:44 PM
Maybe the reason is that this app does not contain any malware, but only transfers the entered data (seed) to the hacker's server. Do you really think that the one who checks (if there are people who do it at all) knows the difference between legitimate and fake Leger Live?

If such work were done by experts and not by bots and AI, then there would not be thousands of dangerous apps in the Google Play Store or on Google Ads.
Any software from the ledger does not ask for seed phrase backup even in the recovery process there are no ledger apps that ask for recovery phrase Ledger already warns their users about that and you can always see the warning on any ledger support page. If it asks then it's phishing.
Ledger app or any software wallet like Electrum only needs connection and authentication from your hardware device you should never share your seed anywhere other than into your hardware device itself.

So how did Microsoft forget to check it?
This means Microsoft does not manually check and testing any software that they publish on the store.
823  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 1166 went Idle after Aging on: November 06, 2023, 03:02:13 PM
I recently encountered an issue with my AvalonMiner 1166 Pro and I've been trying to optimize its settings. I came across a set of commands, including one that looks like this: [{"command":"ascset", "parameter":"0,aging-parameter,60-537:562:587:612"}]. However, I couldn't find any documentation that explains the meaning of the values in this command.

I was wondering if you could help clarify what these values represent and how they are related to the performance of the miner.

All commands that I got for Avalon came from the Russian forum there is no documentation or explanation of what those commands are and what these values represent.
The command you are pointing to is re-aging like the above said under that parameter those values might be the frequencies of the hashboard you can change it and test if it can help improve your miners hashrate but if you want to optimize the unit you need to use aging command instead of re-aging.

Here's the command below

Code:
[{"command":"ascset", "parameter":"0,aging-set,1"}]

If you're looking for more commands check my post below
- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5381842.msg59012568#msg59012568

My asic was working with low hashrate then I start aging yesterday and he still aging until now and keep reboot every 20min it work with good hashrate for 15min then stop for 5min and reboot I have try to stop aging by this command but I still have this problem

The command you are pointing to is not the command to stop aging I already provided from my previous post of what command you can use to stop again.
Code:
Stop aging: [{"command":"ascset", "parameter":"0,aging-set,3"}]

And, normally, the unit keeps rebooting while aging because it is still under the aging process let it run for a while and let it find the best settings for your unit.
824  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet is safe for long term Bitcoin storage? on: November 06, 2023, 07:27:18 AM
Your list of wallets you mentioned are exchanges except for trustwallet. If you use the exchange wallet you don't actually own them and you don't have full control of your wallet(except trust wallet) unlike using a non-custodial wallet.

Since you are looking for safest and secured that you can hold BTC for long term then Electrum cold wallet is your best choice.
To make an Electrum cold storage wallet I suggest follow this guide below.

825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: As a Bitcoin Core only user, how im supposed to pay someone in person? on: November 06, 2023, 07:04:42 AM
I don't get your point. laptop can be brought anywhere you want so why not bring it and only deal with someone in a safe place like a mall?

Or if you don't want to bring your Laptop then the only solution for your problem is to make a signed transaction(offline transaction) first in your house(don't forget to ask him about the price and BTC address)and don't broadcast it yet get the raw/hex code and paste it to your phone or any device that you can bring.
Now you can meet someone in person and only broadcast the transaction when you deal successfully with him but if not don't broadcast the transaction.

Here's the list of broadcasting sites below.

- https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_broadcasting

If you want it private don't forget to mix your coins at home before you make a raw transaction with Bitcoin Core.

Alternatively, you can make a portable Raspberry Pi with Linux installed you can bring it anywhere you want.
Here's what it looks like https://youtu.be/MorJLzybb3I?si=Nw-1QH7RsqFdVp3y
826  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My s19 90th model is not working properly please help!!! on: November 06, 2023, 06:26:03 AM
You said it was fine on the first try and then the only thing that gives you a problem is the PDU that suddenly pops with sparks.

I guess that the PDU you were using can't able to handle s19 because this unit can draw around 15 amps if the PDU feeds only 15 amps or below then it will melt all electrical circuits on the PDU you should have a PDU that can feed 20A or more than that to handle s19 unit.

How about plug the unit directly to the wall outlet?
827  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Whatsminer M30S+ Immersion Firmware/OS on: November 06, 2023, 05:05:27 AM
I've never heard of any custom firmware for m30s+ but I heard Vnish is working on developing a custom firmware for whatsminer units they haven't released it yet because it is still under development.

Other OS you mention above Foreman and Bixbit be careful this is not well-known ASIC firmware/OS here on the forum so there is a risk on using these OS. If you flash your unit with these OS, there is a possibility that the unit may become bricked, or the unit may get stuck with this firmware that can't able to revert back to stock firmware.

If you are fine with the risk of using random firmware then check this one below how he flashed this unit for Immersion cooling.

828  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I’ve bought 100 BTC in 2011. Need help to find them for rewards. on: November 05, 2023, 08:21:53 PM
If you bought this Bitcoin year 2011 the only exchange that I know is Mt. Gox which is already long gone.
However, the site is accessible and they mention that they are going to refund users funds.

If I'm right I don't know if you can get your refund because they always postponed the refund date according to this article below they going to refund users last March but I never heard of someone successfully gets refunded. Now the Mt. Gox site has a notice that the lump sum Repayment will start from October 31, 2023 until 2024.

829  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Fake Leger Live app (extension ). on: November 05, 2023, 12:38:27 PM
Don't they check the software or app first before they make the app available on the Microsoft Store?

According to The app certification process on Microsoft they scan and check the apps for malware and viruses and do some testing to ensure the safety of the app before they make the app available on the Microsoft store.

So how the scammer succeed in making the phishing software or app available on the store without undergoing to verification process?
Only Microsoft should be blamed for this due to negligence because they are the only ones who tested the app first before making it available to the public they don't even try to verify it first if it's owned by the ledger.
830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: About connecting node to hard-forked private network on: November 05, 2023, 01:49:09 AM
What exactly do you want to achieve? Since you mentioned "hard forked of Bitcoin" are you planning to fork Bitcoin and create an altcoin or do you just want your node accessible to the local network?

If you want to access your node locally and bitcoind to accept JSON-RPC commands locally then you will need to configure your Bitcoin.conf file.

Sample bitcoin config

Code:
server=1
daemon=1
txindex=1
disablewallet=1

rpcuser=***
rpcpassword=***
rpcbind=0.0.0.0
rpcport=8332
rpcallowip=192.168.230.0/255.255.255.0

Read more from this link below to configure the network.

- https://github.com/ElementsProject/elements/blob/master/share/examples/bitcoin.conf

If this is for educational purposes better enable testnet.
831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is there a posibility someone could brueforce your wallet seed phrase ? on: November 04, 2023, 01:27:41 PM
Like others said it's possible but if you are afraid that someone can brute-force or guess your seed phrase there are some ways to avoid those possibilities.
To avoid them you can generate a seed phrase with an additional extra word(as a passphrase) even if they found a few words or leaked your seed phrase they can't still access your wallet without the extra word(as a passphrase).
Or use Bitcoin core offline wallet which generates a wallet.dat this file can be backed up since it's offline you are far from any attacks online and it only requires an online device(extra device) to make unsign transactions. It is a bit technical but once you learn how to make a raw transaction and familiarize yourself with the process it will be easy next time.
832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Derivation Path on electrum on: November 03, 2023, 07:02:08 PM
That's not the default derivation path if you are using legacy wallet the default derivation path is m/44'/0'/0' for segwit wallet is m/84'/0'/0' and honestly you don't need to change anything on the derivation path.

If you know what type of your wallet is just choose any of these 3 legacy, p2sh segwit and native segwith or you can just " Detect existing accounts" and let the Electrum find the used derivation path for you.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core slow sync/download of the blockchain on: November 03, 2023, 06:45:50 PM
Let me ask if your external drive is HDD or SSD?
if all Bitcoin core data is in HDD then that might be the bottleneck.
You can try to add dbcache under the bitcoin.conf file and set it to half of your total ram memory or just 3000mb.

Code:
dbcache=4096

Or you can try splitting the data by manually adding datadir on bitcoin.conf file for the SSD and then blocksdir into your external drive.

Check the reference below for a solution

834  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost my coins on: November 03, 2023, 12:00:21 AM
If it was sent to an unknown address then you don't have any chance to recover back your coins.

But if you can confirm that you sent your coins to the right address then you can report the issue to Coinbase because sometimes their wallet is buggy it happened to me before. Reporting it to Coinbase fixed my issue.

Adding this get the TXID hash from your wallet and check it to any explorer to analyze the transaction if you sent it to the right address. You can use this https://mempool.space/
835  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance bitcoin wallet maintenance on: November 02, 2023, 10:56:02 PM
I'm just about to deposit BTC recently I just stopped depositing after I found this thread but right now the deposit for BTC and segwit is confirmed available and working fine.

Actually, I didn't get any announcement from them no notification on their app about this it seems they only announce this on Twitter.

837  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Withdraw to Australian Bank account on: November 01, 2023, 11:48:14 PM
If you don't mind would you share what coins/tokens you are trying to withdraw and exchange it for money?
We can maybe able to give you a good exchange for those coins/tokens if the P2P exchange doesn't support them.

If you are fine with passing a KYC it seems you can able to use Binance exchange to exchange your coins/tokens under P2P.
838  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which sites to go to gather Crypto information and news? on: November 01, 2023, 01:47:43 PM
Checking every crypto info/news provided above is time-consuming all you need is a news aggregator for those who don't know it collects all news, blog posts, or anything related to Crypto.

The site that I'm talking about is https://cryptopanic.com/ they do also have an app.

A single site is enough for me you don't need to go for all the sites provided above.
839  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Recommendation for multi-crypto software wallets that support BIP-39 passphrase on: November 01, 2023, 01:11:43 PM
Coinomi is fine to me but since it's closed-source this wallet can't be trusted.

If you still looking for other alternative than the above suggestion I think Mycelium also supports multiple coins since you said "at least Bitcoin and Ethereum" then Mycelium support them check the guide below on how.

- https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6v33jn/add_a_bip39_passphrase_to_your_12_words_wordseed/?rdt=53933

Sorry, forgot to mention another key requirement which is being a desktop app (or at least browser extension) that can be run on Linux, so Unstoppable Wallet doesn't fit under that requirement.

If that's what you looking for the only wallet that I know is AtomicDex which has open-sourced code but I never tested this wallet.

You don't have any other option but to use a hardware wallet that supports BIP39 with a passphrase like Trezor.
840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is there any company,a that recycles wallets - 100% honest on: November 01, 2023, 12:56:29 PM
I think what he means by recycle wallets is that a company or website that offers wallet service but it generates the same user's wallet address even if you created a new account it always generates the same wallet address that only the company has access to.

If I'm right I never heard of any company that recycles wallets if you want to get rid of them and don't want anyone to control your wallet then only use non-custodial wallets like Electrum.
