841  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: frankywill: Avatar Campaign on: October 12, 2017, 07:37:42 PM
It would always be better to join an avatar or signature campaign that have the funds escrow to a trust member on this forum, looking at the numbers of participants he is looking for is quite suspicious, it would meant he have to pay out huge amount of bitcoins every week to all the participants.

That is true. Those who joined this campaign (including myself) are at a loss. But that doesn't mean that the operators should be able to get away without negative feedback. It will act as a kind of deterrent.
842  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 World Cup qualifications, UEFA zone, discussion and information thread on: October 11, 2017, 08:51:07 PM
Last night we all witness a miracle. Leo Messi answering cirticizm after their match with Peru. He replied with a stunning hattrick leading Argentina directly to the world cup finals. No other player can do that. He litterly can carry a whole team on his own. That's why he is the best!

Ecuador was maybe the worst selection of the end of the elimatories, a win wasn't expected at all. But of course it came with emotion after an ecuatorian goal in the first minute and a hat trick of Lionel Messi
The Ecuadorians really didn't care about the outcome of the game at all, they were already not going to qualify at all so they didn't play the game with the same ferocity as a team that was seeking qualifications. Though they scored first it was expected that Argentina were going to equalize and win.

The World Cup wouldn't have been the same if Argentina had failed to qualify. Ecuador scored quickly and gave a lot of tense moments to the Argentinian fans. Messi's hat trick would have finally given some relief.
843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: October 11, 2017, 08:45:36 PM
Price dumped a lot to a level I would not have been expected. But if price will ONLY keep stable there is the chance to generate profit simply by holding GBYTE because of the 10% holder bonus which will come back in November.

My target for GBYTE in BTC pair is around 0.3. Strong buy imho.
Yes, I also think that GBYTE is a gem around 0.003 with 10x potencial. Although it is lacking a specific business model I strongly believe in this project and think a 10x + 30-40% hodler rewards is possible from the current price level as an entry.

Yup, I do remember when it was trading at 0.3x of Bitcoin. The hype surrounding the airdrop took it over there, but the dumps post the airdrop brought it down to earth. It could touch 0.3x again in the future which makes for great profits for those entering at these levels.
844  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Going Above 6k Soon!!!!! on: October 11, 2017, 08:40:34 PM
Well to be fair we have also got a legendary member saying the same over at bitcoin discussion. I know that doesn't prove anything but it looks like a few people believe its possible.

Legendary members are a dime a dozen these days. Just because they have spent a lot of time in this forum doesn't mean that they are good at price predictions (me included. Cheesy) That said, $6k is not too far off.
845  Economy / Scam Accusations / frankywill: Avatar Campaign on: October 11, 2017, 08:25:56 PM

848  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoins - skyrocketing demands in Asia on: October 10, 2017, 06:34:33 PM
bitcoins - skyrocketing demands in Asia, it is true........So, what are the reasons behind this?

You should say Asia-ex China. Demand definitely isn't sky rocketing in China, due to the government's tough stance against Bitcoin.
In countries like Japan and South Korea, friendly regulation has helped demand take off.
849  Economy / Speculation / Re: XAPO says "there can be more than 21,000,000 bitcoins" on: October 10, 2017, 06:31:46 PM
From there statement regarding the segwit2x fork:
"Xapo’s policy in regards to forks is that, when there is a fork, we always follow the chain with the most accumulated difficulty and we make the minority chain available to our customers for them to sell or withdraw from Xapo. "

So, if someone changes the hardcoded rule about the limit of 21,000,000 btc max. it would be totally fine for XAPO as long as the new chain has the most hashrate.

This is why segwit2x is a serious threat to all cryptocurrencies.  We could no longer argue why some rules are irrevocable.

So it is possible to have an altcoin / fork which has a supply limit of more than 21 million. Why should that be a concern to anybody?
You are free to choose the fork of your choice as the original "Bitcoin".

851  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-06] Bitcoin Price Likely to Hit $5,000 If SegWit2x Support Declines on: October 07, 2017, 09:20:59 PM
I don't think BTG will has significant impact to bitcoin price.
If we compare BCH which has 8Mb and BTG with 2Mb hard fork, it's clear that 8Mb is better than 2Mb; noted that SegWit2x, the proposal to increase the bitcoin block size by 2MB, is fundamentally different to Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum Classic because as of current, it has majority support from miners.
The only way to increase bitcoin if BTG developers will distribute it free to everyone who has bitcoin in their wallet, just like the case of BCH.
Free distribution will encourage people to buy more bitcoin in order to get more free BTG, but there is uncertain news about BTG will be sold through an ICO.

Why do you think that 8MB is better than 2MB blocks? 2MB might be the middle path, with an increase in block size and maintaining sufficient decentralization. There is no question of "distributing freely" in the case of a fork. All existing Bitcoin holders will hold coins on both branches of the fork automatically.
852  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: 7 People arrested for Bitcoin Trading on: October 07, 2017, 09:09:18 PM
They were doing more than just trading, they were running an exchange.  Running an unlicensed exchange is risky business in any country.

But I find this sentence from the OP article to be most interesting:

"He further said that if found guilty the suspects will be punished under the prevalent laws of Rastra Bank."
Are finacial laws in Nepal set by the bankers?

Running an exchange is just facilitating trading. In most countries, cryptocurrencies are not recognized. Then how will you get a licence and which regulator will you approach. This shows that maybe Nepal is not bitcoin-friendly.
853  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 World Cup qualifications, UEFA zone, discussion and information thread on: October 07, 2017, 09:02:32 PM
actually i'm not really good for predict international matches and my betting results from that is not so good too
but today i would bets small amount to avoid huge losses and for fun and here is my pick below

Sweden vs Luxembourg Sweden win
Bosnia and Herzegovina vs Belgium Belgium win
Belarus vs Netherlands Netherlands win
Bulgaria vs France France win

but i separated it for single bet and i don't dare pick all of them into the parlay although mostly
my pick for big teams but international matches sometimes provide us unpredictable results

Sweden vs Luxembourg was a colossal mismatch, with a final scoreline of 8-0. France is playing well in this group, but Sweden can still catch up. And if it comes to goal difference, then this result will surely help.
854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between Bitcoin and real money? on: October 07, 2017, 08:50:29 PM
Bitcoin is a digital currency while real money is more tangible money. Both of them have value, they can be earned, invested and traded. Their difference is more of in their form than in their use. You have the choice to convert your dollars (or any local currency) to bitcoin or not as an investment  but personally, I do it for the purpose of diversifying.
While the use for bitcoin and fiat money is the same, the big difference is that the fiat money is created and its value determined by the government licensed banks, while everyone can create or mine bitcoin and its value is solely determined by the demand of the people.

Another big difference is that fiat money loses its value by default!

Not all Fiat currencies lose value. The Swiss Frank had done a remarkable job of maintaining its value against silver for a long time. Of course, if you look at the currencies of countries like Venezuela and Zimbabwe, then it is a different story.
855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Ethereum Is Not a Bubble on: October 07, 2017, 08:45:28 PM
Because users are very large and most are developers who need ethereum to develop their projects. this is different from other coins that can easily be speculated.ETETH ecosystem is that it's actually suppressed the
price somewhat

Those reasons are true, but  ETH is still correlated to the overall crypto space. If Bitcoin and all other alts crash, they will take ETH down with them. ETH might not be in a bubble, but that doesn't mean the price won't go down.
856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC vs ETH smart contracts on: October 07, 2017, 08:42:03 PM
Look at the number of tokens which have been issued on the ETH blockchain. ETH is miles ahead of LTC in this aspect.
I so no reason why LTC smart contracts should impact ETH.
857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 06, 2017, 08:51:04 PM
can we stop going to shit pls. Roll Eyes

Are you talking about the price? We have lost some value today and over the past few weeks, but that is no reason to worry.
It is just a reorganization of holdings which is taking place.
858  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin Price So Fluctuating? on: October 06, 2017, 08:46:25 PM
the market cap is too small

as the market cap grows, it will take much more to move the price

That is not the only reason. Its market capitalization is more than $70 Bn. There are a lot of companies who aren't valued at those levels. Still Bitcoin is much more volatile.
859  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: October 06, 2017, 08:44:23 PM
Bangladesh after winning the toss decided to field and would not be happy with the start SA have got it. They are 162 without a wicket means 500+ runs should be on the board easily fo SA and Bangladesh will be in the tremendous pressure right from the beginning itself.  Both the opening batsman are playing well are at 78 runs each.

Two opening batsman of South Africa is playing tremendously good. Elgar and Markram already completed their century. The score being 211 now, I also think 500+ on scoreboard is justifiable as zero wickets are down. Bangladesh won the toss, should have selected to bat first it seems now.
First wicket for Bangladesh after long time opening stand broken after reaching 243 but another whale on crease as Amla joining here with bang today they are going to do nearly 380 to 400 which could be disaster for Bangladesh as they could be in huge pressure
In Sri Lanka vs Pakistan match after winning first test Sri Lanka is in driving seat in second already 115 just lost of one wicket they can manage to reach 350+ which could very good for them as home team is already under pressure and can go down and lost this series badly
Sri Lanka lost 3 wickets for 159 runs. I think they can manage to score 250+ runs at the end of the day. This is test match if they play to make more runs then they will lose wickets. i think Pakistan can take 2 more wickets today. Now only we can not guess this test match who will win.

South Africa start was excellent both the openers scored a century. Elger 113 and Aiden 143 runs. now SA 293/3. I am expecting one more century from Amla.
Today South Africa done great job as touch 428/3 Amla 89 and Duplessi on 63 expecting some quick fire from them tomorrow in first session hope they have target of 600+ which can give them very healthy advantage and an inning win because Bangladesh away record is very poor specially in South Africa
Another very slow start from UAE as run rate is under 3 and home team doing very hard work but captain and Karuna both reach 100+ partnership this could be also very interesting match in last 2 days

South Africa is already going at almost 5 an over in a test match!! They don't need to up their pace any more. I don't think they need more than 3.5 days to bowl out Bangladesh twice.
860  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum transaction stuck on: October 05, 2017, 08:56:18 PM

Have you checked your connection to electrum servers? In some cases, there is a lag (but usually only a few blocks).
Try changing the server to which you connect.
