861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEO to $40 within 8th October on: October 05, 2017, 08:51:47 PM
You don't need a reason for an altcoin to gain 20% in a few days. In most cases, just random price fluctuations will take it there.  Grin
I don't see why NEO is any different.
862  Economy / Economics / Re: Would using Bitcoin currently increase or decrease its value? on: October 05, 2017, 08:45:28 PM
I'm new to the Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency world, and the economics are pretty interesting.. My question is more of a large-scale economics question.

Would using Bitcoins, to purchase goods (not on this forum) or services, increase its perceived value due to wider exposure or level-out/decrease its perceived value by establishing an accepted value of it?

I hope that was clear enough. Just looking for ideas and thoughts.

Definitely increase its value. As adoption increases, the network effect starts kicking in.
One of the reasons for the explosion in price today is that more and more people know about Bitcoin.
863  Economy / Speculation / Re: is bitcoin bubble? on: October 05, 2017, 08:43:56 PM
Nobody knows the future. You can only say it is a bubble after it has burst. But as long as its up, its not a bubble. For years now bitcoin has shown long term growth consistently. Let the haters say its in a bubble, and let the few that are willing to invest out of their comfort zone, like those who still believe in bitcoin (count me in) reap the benifits..

So far its being the best which has provided the users huge earning potential on their investment if made at correct times. Though I have read in couple of news paper and JPM CEO says its a fraud and bubble is about to burst. It seems to be incorrect for now as the price is in the range bound currently and hope it rises a smooth ride in future.

It doesn't matter when you invested. What matters is how long you held it for.
Even those who invested before the 2013 crash made money, if they were patient enough.
864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have Bitcoin fees lowered after SegWit? How and Why ? on: October 05, 2017, 08:37:06 PM
So a larger fee = faster transaction?

Larger fee = higher probability of confirmation in the next block. This is because miners obviously have reason to pick up a transaction with higher transaction fees (per kb of transaction size).
865  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-04] Bitcoin Gold - A friendly dividend fork, or Bitcoin’s disaster RP? on: October 05, 2017, 08:35:17 PM
Bitcoin gold is a pump-and-dump scam. They are promoting it everywhere, trying to drum up interest so that people will buy the currency from them.

There is a pre-mine:

Quote
BTCGPU will create 16000 blocks after forked from No 478558th Blcock.
every block 12.5 BTG.
it will be sold to ico investor.
1BTC=10BTG.

See  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2133536.0

This is utter nonsense. They should stop calling it a fork if they plan to have some pre-mine.
At best, this can be called an airdrop.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cardano/ADA coin’s launch on Bittrex represents what I detest about cryptos on: October 03, 2017, 05:31:03 AM
The people who are investing in it (or pumping it up) really don't care about the basics. For them it is just another coin which they can pump to the moon and profit. True believers in the coin don't matter, for determining its price.
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coins buying guide this october on: October 03, 2017, 05:28:40 AM
Oct 2 - DGB - Contestant in Citibank competition and some expect them to be the winner. https://twitter.com/Citi/status/914211746923057153

Have the results of the Citi contest been released....? It is October 3rd already.
I don't know if being awarded by a bank is a good thing or a bad thing.  Smiley
868  Economy / Speculation / Re: I've noticed something strange on: October 03, 2017, 05:25:37 AM
Well, say straight.
What do you think is coming?

I'm kinda confused, but would bet on a uptrend (on everything worthy).

Long term speaking, there is only one way for this market, and that's only up. Short term speaking, the only obstacle that stands in the way of this growth is the hard fork in November. It's impossible to put it aside like it doesn't matter, and due to the uncertainties connected to such an event, I am expecting anything between $3000 and $4000 till we know how everything plays out. I prefer to not do anything at this point, but might start increasing my positions if the market falls well below the $3500 level.

The previous hardfork surprised the hell out of everybody. Nobody could believe that the price would take off after the split. The November fork is a lot more contentious. The date is pretty close and people are still talking about whether there will be replay protection.

870  Economy / Speculation / Re: Welcome to Christmas! Nom, Nom, Nom on: September 18, 2017, 05:01:00 AM
....Nom, Nom, Nom

huh? you look confused?

time to buy and load up. its september 2017 and bitcoin on sale for 3,100usd.
buy and come back in 4 years.
nom, nom, nom

But what does this have to do with Christmas? Actually, if your holding horizon is 4 years, it doesn't really matter at what levels you buy. What seems overpriced now might seem ridiculously low in 4 years time.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 18, 2017, 04:56:34 AM
I do not trust this project anymore. I´ve got my first byteballs around 0.3 and the price is 0.6 now. They shouldn´t have reduced airdrop amounts for byteball holders. This was a mistake. Those who are holding huge amounts of BTC automatically became whales and dumped the price, and i don´t expect it to rise again.

I got in around the same price.  Hurts pretty bad.  Exchanges should have been excluded from the beginning.  No reason that Iconomi should have ever gotten any GB.  Giving these Whales such huge amounts and letting the interest compound for them was a huge mistake.  I hope new airdrop projects learn from this in the future.

Imagine how different the landscape would look if there was a limit placed at the beginning.  For instance, then maximum amount of BTC that could be credited for airdrop per wallet is 10 BTC or something.

What do you expect from a lopsided distribution? Giving BTC holders free bytes will never be a good idea. They will be the price resistance levels in the years to come.

It was a brilliant idea initially. It generated a lot of hype and was the reason for the buzz around byteball. As Tony said, Bitcoin has reached its current distribution pattern after lots of twists and turns. Byteball got there straight away.
872  Economy / Speculation / Re: malevolent whales intention to destroy bitcoin as store of value on: September 12, 2017, 04:47:25 PM
The central bankers of the world aren't worried about Bitcoin right now. They certainly wouldn't want to spend time and resources in trying to crash the market.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 12, 2017, 04:45:28 PM
i just realized, that it is not possible to register Segwit Adresses for the Airdrop? When will Segwit for Airdrops be implemented? That can't be to complicated....
SegWit addresses won't be supported:
Since segwit has been activated on BTC I noticed that the transition bot doesn't work with the new segwit addresses.
If you try to use a segwit generated address you get this message "Only P2PKH addresses are supported".
Are there any plans to address this issue?

No such plans.  Our developers' time is better spent on Byteball.

Ouch. That is a big thing. A lot of bitcoins would have migrated to segwit addresses now.
Of course, since the airdrop is primarily linked to byteball addresses now, people won't feel the impact.

875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: September 03, 2017, 07:08:43 PM
Joke:

Quote

I was looking at the Market Cap of bay this morning...
"$260M"
I was thinking. Mhmm pretty good. Maybe room for a good x2 or x3 in the future.

Then I looked again and saw... shit it's $26M Market cap... not $260M...

This coin is gonna explode soon.

We're certainly overdue for a correction in the upward direction  Cheesy

The contrast is even more drastic when you look at the valuation that other coins have been getting. Bitbay is not even in the top 100. That is something which cannot be digested.

I hardly recognise the top 100. Looks like it was grossly infested with a lot of fake dreams and talk projects with unrealistic roadmaps that will never reach fruition.
Although some solid old projects are starting to get major attention again.... lets hope bitbays time is just around the corner.

Ah yes, the latest ICO party, starting to look like a garbage dump. They won't be there for long I'm thinking...

They don't deserve to be and they shouldn't be. The problem is that most newbies when they want to buy alt, they go to coimarketcap and try and pick one. Unfortunately, they might not go to the second page....
876  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 World Cup qualifications, UEFA zone, discussion and information thread on: September 03, 2017, 07:05:05 PM
Didn't expect such an expressive win for Spain yesterday, but I guess they were very efective. If I remember well, there were only 4 shoots on target, and that ended in 3 goals for them. I curious about what Portugal will do today, and also Belgium.  A very important game for Portugal if they want the lead of the group. As for Belgium I still expect a lot from them, so I want to see if they can do better than a draw this time vs Greece.

It was expected to be a close match between Spain and Italy. Spain took a lead pretty early in the match (first 15 minutes) and Italy never looked like recovering. Italy most likely will have to go through the play offs.
877  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price and its correction. on: September 03, 2017, 07:00:38 PM
Hi everyone. New in crypto and very enthusiastic about it. Have some questions as  lately bought some btc. How do you think guys will present correction of btc take much time? As I hopped to buy some eth also before the Metropolis. Can this correction of btc influence eth price so that metropolis release will have no effect on eth price? Thank you for any thoughts.

I think while we're observing btc crash, ethereum will make an explosion. Ether price will be increasing to 500 bucks after bitcoin crashed because bitcoin whales will exit from bitcoin to enter ethereum.

That is just wishful thinking. Apart from the scaling debate blowing up again, there is no meaningful reason why Bitcoin should crash. There has been some pull back in the price, but that is mainly due to profit booking.
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 02, 2017, 03:12:54 PM
The recent price is like a waterfall, following this project, from seed, to the top of the mountain, and now to the bottom of the mountain, and never abandon you

Exact like me.

I have just registered to share this idea: last X TB of distribution entirely given to bytes which have not been moved since 25th Dec (excluding lisk and iconomi wallets). Or since distribution date.

How many bytes have not been moved since then?

The novelty of Byteball was attractive during the last altcoin season in July, thus, the strong rally. But now GBYTE has return to its previous trendline. Look ath the GBYTEUSD pair and you'll see.

Yes, the airdrop and the hype which was prevailing around Byteball at that time resulted in a huge increase in price. The price dropped at the same time the airdrop amount was decreased. Now we will see the price slowly increasing, but it won't go up drastically,
879  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can you predict when bitcoin price will saturated? on: September 02, 2017, 03:01:49 PM
It will become saturated when the demand starts declining. For some reason there are many people looking for buying Bitcoins now, I'm not sure why, maybe segwit upgrade? In my opinion the price is increasing too much and too fast, it's not normal... So expect a drop any moment soon. How farther it wil go it's hard to say, last time we have seen drop by $1900, that was a lot. Could it happen again on the same proportion?

You are not sure why? It is because Bitcoin is on every damn news channel around. The media has gone to town about the crazy returns in Bitcoin and a lot of people have become interested.
880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 World Cup qualifications, UEFA zone, discussion and information thread on: September 02, 2017, 02:50:25 PM
Group G - Spain vs Italy. I think this match is the most interesting today. Both teams have 16 points, they are at a really similar level. I will watch this match.

Prediction - Both teams to score.

Undoubtedly the match to watch out for today. It is always exciting when two former world champions take on each other. Both teams are equally placed, and both teams scoring is a good bet to take.
