881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: September 02, 2017, 02:46:55 PM
I am not on the exchanges where GBYTE is traded, so I don't know the situation there - but in the in-wallet Exchange Bot there's only a moderately thick wall of 12-13GB in 85-99mBTC range.
The rest of sell orders are much higher, with the next wall of roughly same size at 0.18456!
Market is very quiet, a large buyer with like 15BTC can move it x2 in no time.

But there are also many people with "completely free" coins accumulated, they may continue to dump so it can go both ways.

It is not just the existing sell orders. There are people on the sidelines who are ready to sell their coins, if the price increases sufficiently.
You will find a lot more sellers entering the market once the price starts moving upwards.
882  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN PRICE NEVER GO DOWN on: September 02, 2017, 02:44:11 PM
This is a pretty strong retrace. Down almost 10% from the peak of $5000.
It is inevitable that we have some drops in the price; otherwise it would seem like a rigged asset class.  Smiley
883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have You Been to Macau? on: September 01, 2017, 08:12:50 PM
It's like a gambler's paradise there. About 33 casinos squeezed into a small island.
I planned to go there this year, but unfortunately it will not work. Maybe next year. They say it's possible to have a good time and not only in the casino.

If you want casinos, there is always Las Vegas. And you can have a very good time too. Cheesy
Macau is over-rated. It is probably the only place where the Chinese can gamble legally and that has made it famous.
884  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would you believe it if I told you I am less bearish? on: September 01, 2017, 08:10:54 PM
I can't decide if we're going higher in the long term--5 years or so is long term for me--or if this is totally a bubble.  I do think bitcoin is going mainstream,  and all the media articles are facilitating this.  But I've been hedging my bets and assuaging my doubts by buying some precious metals with bitcoin.  I don't trust this market not to crash, and I'd like to preserve what little capital I have invested.   I'm not a rich guy, and I hate losing money.

Also, I don't trust charts either.   Not in the stock market and not in crypto either.

5 years is a life time in the crypto world. You would have a block reward halving plus multiple cycles before that.
I definitely feel holding bitcoins for the long term should be profitable. But they should definitely be a small part of your portfolio, something which needn't be hedged.
885  Economy / Speculation / Re: $500,000 per Bitcoin, baby. The math behind it. on: September 01, 2017, 06:10:26 AM
I totally agree. The moon is possible and the math is so simple

Divide 12M coins into $8.5 trillion

$500,000 Bitcoin baby.

Where did you get 12M coins from? We're at about 16.55M coins in existence today (https://blockchain.info/charts/total-bitcoins).

The math for my numbers still hits your mark at $513,595.

The post is dated 2014. The 12M coins was the number of coins circulating in 2014.
The numerator should also be adjusted for 2017. There is a lot more money circulating these days. So the math is not way off.
886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 01, 2017, 06:07:14 AM
The next airdrop is coming nearer  Grin

There won't be as much volatility / excitement this time around, because the air drop amount has decreased. Fewer people are waiting for the airdrop and getting ready to dump their coins as soon as they get their hands on them.
887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: September 01, 2017, 06:05:03 AM
Joke:

Quote

I was looking at the Market Cap of bay this morning...
"$260M"
I was thinking. Mhmm pretty good. Maybe room for a good x2 or x3 in the future.

Then I looked again and saw... shit it's $26M Market cap... not $260M...

This coin is gonna explode soon.

We're certainly overdue for a correction in the upward direction  Cheesy

The contrast is even more drastic when you look at the valuation that other coins have been getting. Bitbay is not even in the top 100. That is something which cannot be digested.
888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 26, 2017, 05:51:31 PM
If i have byteball , do i need to make something to take practice in the distribution ?

No, you will automatically get the byteballs distributed in the next air drop. However, if you want the free blackbytes, you need to ensure that the byteballs are on a linked byteball address. Should be simple enough, though.
889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 26, 2017, 05:43:45 PM
Frustration for Manchester United. A goalless first half against Leicester, where they were expected to perform strongly.
Now a penalty has been missed as well. That will be painful for Manchester United.
890  Economy / Speculation / Re: fluctuating btc price on: August 26, 2017, 05:32:53 PM
I think the next time the price fluctuates would most likely be in November when another hardfork is coming. So as usual we should all be aware and cautious and maybe expect already the price of bitcoin and other altcoins to fluctuate. Then everyone would be getting ready for December because I know for sure a lot of people will be converting their bitcoins to fiat money.

People who convert bitcoins to fiat just because they are afraid of the hard fork are acting too soon. We know that the last hard fork only resulted in an increase in price, although there was a lot of fud floating around before that.
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 24, 2017, 09:17:15 PM
will there be one more byteball airdrop
or several?
and why are so few people talking about this coin it has great features like untraceable payments
and it's really really quick to send coins.
By the way what can i do with my blackbytes is it really only possible to trade them peer to peer
or can blackbyte get added to exchanges technically?

With the drop in coins being distributed through the next airdrop, it looks like there will be quite a few more airdrops. The airdrop attracted a lot of attention for Byteball, now it seems to be self sustaining. Smiley
892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is IOTA worth Holding? on: August 24, 2017, 08:55:44 PM
Guys i was thinking of investing in IOTA now that it has dipped enough, though i  think it might dip a bit more (1-2 days)
so... Is this Coin worth holding (long term) and how long till 2-3$ Huh or just buy now and sell in a weak or 2??

$3 implies that the market capitalization will be around $8 Bn. That is a very high number. It is not impossible, but a pretty long shot. You can try and buy little by little at the dips over the next few days.
893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will SmartContracts bring ICO's to Ripple? on: August 24, 2017, 08:52:53 PM
Is the lack of Smart Contracts the only thing blocking ICO's on Ripple?  I read lack of Smart Contracts/inability to limit token supply is what keeps ICO's from using Ripple.

Is this true?  If so, wouldn't Ripple's DEV of Smart Contracts send a "ripple" - pun intended  Wink - through the ICO community and elevate the price significantly?

Any Ripple experts out there care to educate us?  Thanks

Wouldn't developers be more comfortable with a decentralized currency compared to a currency like Ripple? The developers would any day prefer a decentralized currency like Ethereum, given that their own currencies / tokens are decentralized.
894  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dump the news? on: August 24, 2017, 08:49:32 PM
Everyone followed the rule "buy rumors, sell the news" but they sold a little early and the dump already happened, down to $3600
Better buy before new ATH are reached.

The problem is that the price rise has been particularly sharp over the past month, and even over the past 8-10 months. So people are hesitant to buy at these levels. They will eventually come in.  Smiley
895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin and Ripple do they have an inverse correlation? on: August 22, 2017, 08:02:50 PM
Today the ripple  (XRP) rose up, and  I was seeing the  charts and   comparing eth - btc   with  ripples

I have  seen that   when bitcoin fell down  Ripple  grows up.

Is there  any kind of inverse correlation (in general)  between BTC and XRP?

Ripple is not a decentralized cryptocurrency. So it is not going to be swayed by the things that influence Bitcoin. But there won't be negative correlation between the 2; at best the correlation will be zero.
896  Economy / Speculation / Re: Core coin crashing while Bitcoin cashremains stable. on: August 22, 2017, 07:59:40 PM
Wild times. People dumping and panicing Core coin bug time.
We already dropped under $4000! And going deeper!
Smart move seems to be to move money into the stable Bitcoin cash or Ethereum.
Bitcoin went up once again and now we are above the 4000 dollars, to be honest this does not seem like a crash but more as some people cashing out and waiting for the next bubble or the next big ICO that may come, can the price go down once again? Yes, but not that much.

Some bit of profit booking will happen after every rally. It would be naive to expect nothing to happen after the bull run to $4000+. That said, the price has recovered quickly enough. Bitcoin was below $4000 for less than a day.
897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 22, 2017, 07:55:57 PM

Did anyone participate in the distribution of the Byteball?

There are still opinions about the prospects?

Will there be a damp after September 6?

Personally I am not worried at all about "pumps & dumps" of this coin. It's market cap currently sits around $180,000,000 (37th place) way below far inferior coins. With it's disruptive technology and quality of development this should be ranked way higher. In fact,  according to the Fundamentals Index which calculates the value of each altcoin (taking into account the available supply of coins in relation with Bitcoin's supply) - Byteball should be worth 36.39K% higher then it currently is: 1 GBYTE price should be 31.38733145 BTC (source: http://cryptoindexes.com/fundamentals )
This is a long term hodl !!!

Stop thinking in relative terms. $180Mn is pretty high, even for a cryptocurrency. If it is undervalued, the market will eventually realize that and its value will increase. Until that point, just hold.
898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question about Dash on: August 20, 2017, 08:33:36 PM
You don't need a reason for altcoins to rise (or fall). One thing which is going in dash's favour is that an iOS wallet for dash has been approved. Dash has been around for a long time and I don't think anybody is trying to pump it now.

899  Economy / Speculation / Re: $5000 is not far away from us ;D on: August 20, 2017, 08:28:05 PM
Just wait for November, you will see the mood that happened before August 1 at least twice as big. People here will be screaming that Bitcoin money can vanish to ether again.

What will happen in November is far more important than what has or would be happening on the first of August. People however don't seem to understand that a 2MB hard fork is part of the SegWit2X proposal, but will kick in at a later point. They get blinded by how the price has gone up in the last weeks. I am sure that when the fud starts to pick up, and the price starts to go down as result of the uncertainties, people will start to feel it. As always, people will be creating threads asking why the price is going down despite the activation of SegWit, and at some point start with panic selling -- that's how things go here.

We all know what happened to people who succumbed to the panic and sold in July. When the fud about Segwit2x starts spreading, we should just switch off our computers and ignore it for a while. Coins in cold storage will continue to grow in value.
900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 20, 2017, 08:25:43 PM
this match is very much important for the Chelsea. though they are leading with a goal, they have to lead this score till the end of the game. after losing the first match, Chelsea is now back foot. so this match's result is vital to come back their desired position. still, 13 minutes has to go.
Marcos Alonso is improving and showing his quality day by day, last season he performed so well. hopefully, he will continue his performance this year.
It will be a classy Chase for the title if Man utd continues to play like they are playing currently.  I want Chelsea to come back to their best form but I also want Man U to win the title this season.

The chelsea with so many absences (Cahill, Fabregas, Hazard) has won a very important match! Chelsea has showed that can fight again this year for the victory of the Premier League. Totthenam lacks badness in important moments!

Lots of drama but a good victory for Chelsea. Tottenham controlled the ball but trailed 0-1 at half time. They would have heaved a sigh of relief after equalizing in the last 10 minutes, but unfortunately conceded another goal after that.
