I got the plug, still waiting on the PDU/Strip bars.

@phil
Did you end up finding anything interesting on the 40A PDU?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/401071409648

runs over 300 new.  Amazing but every search I have done does not turn a manual up.

I do not know if it is fused>  Would be nice if it was.

I was wondering if i just didnt know how to go about it. I paid 55$ for it tho so. Hmm. I'll guess i'll try to search harder. Maybe someone else knows a better way to get the data...

Edit; Actually dug through HP pdf list and found the manual i think;
http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04123438.pdf

It says it has overload protection per load group. Is that what we want, and its per 15A outlet? Kinda sound like it just prevent each outlet of running more than 15A?
962  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: February 23, 2016, 03:14:27 AM
So how about a Week to get ready. Single Compac / entrant, no holds barred on PSU, Heatsink Fans etc. Picture of Miner to be posted in this thread.

Mine to the old address so that Phil get's the benefit of the Blocks we hit  Smiley

24 Hour Run, Highest total Hash is the Winner.

Rich

Let's shoot for Friday, I think that would be plenty of time to get ready.   Wink

I think the contest should run 24 hours but the actual runtime needs to be limited to say 5-10 minutes.  Hard to do a 24 hour run with extreme cooling

yes, might be some modification, say, 8-12 hr continuous run and average speed reporting as a mark.
Somebody (AJRGale?) already reported some extreme readings for a few minutes.
I tried it before...compac gets tired of abuse after ~12 hr, but it could take it (to a degree) definitely longer than 10 min.

EDIT: OR, we can split the competition into two parts: sprint (10 min) and 5000 meters (>8hr, <12hr)

Since the TDP on these things is so low, why not put the stick in your freezer? Would'nt it work? If so i dont see why the stick could not run stable super overvolted indefinitively if the temps are kept low?
963  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rent my hash power on: February 23, 2016, 03:12:33 AM
You might also want to consider this in on one of the alt-coin forums. The expectation here is Bitcoin mining, and hence SHA256 rather than scrypt mining hardware.

I was talking about selling my hash power either scrypt or sha (read above to notice). If i talked about scrypt mining was because someone asked me about it. Anyways gridseed can mine both algo at the same time.
Thank you

Yeah yeah. Its because this is strictly the Bitcoin forum where discussing Altcoins is Taboo. Some people get a bit ballistic over it. Nicehash is as easy as setting up mining to any other pool so, worth trying. And it will resolve your need of selling SHA256d like your other "taboo" needs Tongue

Well I dont know if you heard or not, but one of the well known alt exchanges pretty much fled the country.

And pretty much said F you to everyone lol. Another reason to just stick with bitcoin lol.

No? Recently? Or you're talking about the Crypsty basement operation?

So when its a rollover we can't change our pick from the last difficulty right ?

The prize goes up, it rollover. Of course you can change your picks. Smiley

967  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SSC Gaming ACX 2.0+ Cooling Graphics Card on: February 23, 2016, 12:46:33 AM
Hard to tell if its a scam, some of his GPUs are too cheap and some too expensive. IF it was a scam, they would all be cheap.

He has red trust for allegedly laundering money which would mean he use dirty money to buy stuff at full price and sell for cheaper for BTC. I'm not sure it qualify as scam.
968  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SSC Gaming ACX 2.0+ Cooling Graphics Card on: February 23, 2016, 12:39:17 AM
probably because he doesn't have the cards and is doing some kind of ebay/amazon fraud
I would be careful. His trust is negative and he is suddenly posting multiple GPUs on the market one at time now.

Welp, just do escrow, then. If you dont mind dealing with a shaddy thing where he sell things at lower price than he buys directly on ebay or amazon or something.
969  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining Software, hardware, pool on: February 23, 2016, 12:27:52 AM
Hey guys new here, I'm from South Africa. I would like to know where can I find legit company where I can buy mining hardware and software and which pool would you guys recommend one to join?

really interested but I'm tired of the scams out there..

any real miners in here with proof of transactions who can help?

Thanks.
Tee.

Definitively Bitmain as mentioned. For the pools i strongly recommend "Kano.is".

How much does the electricity costs where you live? I expected it to be rather expensive in most of South Africa.
You need to have very cheap electricity for mining to be profitable and you also need to consider many other factors like difficulty, price and the block halving.

Sure can get very cheap electricity. what hardware would you recommend to be profitable. thanks

Well you still havent answered the question. How much do you pay per kWh for your electricity and whats your budget? I can't magically guess and tell you what to buy without knowing those.
970  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S7 running temps on: February 23, 2016, 12:25:43 AM
You would of had to sift through tons of pages on the main S7 boards and probably should posted your question there if you didnt find. But anyways. I'd keep them at 58-65 if i were you and dump the heat strait outside. Super easy to do, just point them at a box fan in a window or use a vinyl tube to outside or to your central heating if you need the heat.

My S7 arent really noisy, you really dont need to leave the fan running full blast.
971  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where should I get an account? on: February 22, 2016, 06:33:18 PM
I'm surprised the signature poster didn't recommend signature campaign Tongue
As the site is BTC related, running a signature ad campaign would be pretty good too.
972  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Examples and pictures of <100$ mining rigs on: February 22, 2016, 10:05:01 AM
I´m looking for getting a small rig (just for fan, im not looking for profit). Please post your small mining rigs.
Thank you!

Well i have S1's;
https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020140107162747992Ce5uBuxW06D6

If you're in Canada, i could sell you one or two. Also the proper board to post this is; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0 so you can move your own thread there or whatever.
973  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS][EU] Underclocked SP20 + Dell server PSU on: February 22, 2016, 10:03:12 AM
I know my price is high, but you have to consider the 20% VAT that is paid in my country, I'm looking for a european or french buyer. Plus the rigs are insanely high in France (don't know why, but the price for a s3 is still 150€)

Well that sound a bit nuts because over there you typically have expensive electricity and 20% vat does not account for a 300% markup in price.
974  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rent my hash power on: February 22, 2016, 10:02:02 AM
Hi miners!
I want to know haw can i rent my hash power... I know mining rig rentals but i don't like it at all. Any ideas?
Thank you!

You mean sell it? There's Nicehash would be the simplest one, but it often pays relatively bad. Right now its decent however. Also you'll probably need to get extra nonce subscription.

The last one is Betarig but i think its mostly like miningrigrentals.

Thanks for answering, yes, i mean sell it for a period of time... whats is extra nonce sub? its like a premium subscription?

Well nicehash has everything about the extra nonce subscription. It has nothing to do with subbing your account. You wont even have an account if you sell on nice hash. Its just a cgminer subscribtion to the extra nonce. If the cgminer version you use doesn't have extra nonce subscription you can run a proxy to enable it. Its all there on Nicehash.

The what it is, what it does and how to set it up; https://www.nicehash.com/?p=faq and more pertaining to the proxy; https://www.nicehash.com/?p=asic

.  So I will never see the 150 usd they owe me on batch 1.

What is this?

The compensation for Batch 1 problems. They said they would properly compensate and they never did.
976  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I want to mine on my Oven' NEMA 14-50r on: February 22, 2016, 09:57:02 AM
From the exterior of your building can people see your box fan? Because if its like -5C and people see all your windows open with a giant box fan running at full speed, won't they wonder if Mr. Freeze is living in that apartment?

Yeah, the resident secretary came in all nosey and saying i could cause damage if i left the temps in the apartment drop too much. It was 6C inside when it was like -35C outside so, she commented just to commented. The supervisor came and said no problem even though he should of seen a couple of things that arent exactly code.

Like big gauge exterior industrial cord extensions lol.

But yeah the box fan is very obvious.

I would love to go to your apartment when you got around 100Amps of current running in this weather. I don't know what the weather is in Eastern Canada at the moment but here we have been getting +5C weather almost daily. I wonder how you are going to deal with all this heat. It really isn't a good idea using an air conditioner in the winter because your neightbours might get suspicious thinking you are growing pot and call the cops on you.

Lol, i've had a box fan pulling air out of the shelf/sound box (with the biggest miners inside) out strait to outdoor all winter. I've gotten +5C today, was nice, temps all at 60C or less. Its honestly not too bad when you dump the heat directly outside. But if i do it with GPUs, it goings to be harder to dump directly outside.

I'm actually thinking about looking into not too noisy extractor options to move more air. But it has to be fairly quiet since its going to be in an apartment.

50-60A on 240v might be quite a bit to keep relatively cool and relatively quiet when its 30C+ outdoor.

no it brand new.and what is your offer?
it has 1  year warranty .

I offered 300$ and you said no. You're not an authorized retailer so how can you transfer the warranty to a 3rd party? The only company i know transfer warranties is EVGA and its for 10 years PSU, you get 3 years instead.
ok i can do it for 300$ for you but shipping cost 20$ .

I would of done 320$ shipped to Canada, then. But you said no, so i bought other stuff. Anyways your price is better than purse. I'm broke now tho, but I'd kind of want it for gaming. If you still have it when i have the funds again, i'll PM you. Assuming Escrow with OGNasty is okay.
