961  Economy / Economics / Re: Will they ever be able to afford a house? on: December 27, 2023, 01:39:22 AM
If you can consider housing loans as a form of being able to afford a house then I would say that the new generation will be able to afford a new house or even a rundown property and just restore it but that's still a problem because I do believe that the prices of properties are just so damn high right now and I don't think that it should be this way just to satisfy the greed of the real estate companies and moguls.
962  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance: get rich or die trying on: December 26, 2023, 06:12:47 AM
Binance really seemed like an exchange that was trying to comply with the regulations and even follow sanctions initially. But then came allegations and investigations that Binance is helpful for evading the US sanctions, and it seems that Binance didn't do enough to prevent that from happening (and, judging from the article, sometimes even helped high-level clients to keep using Binance). What's good about this case is that the fall of CZ did not take Binance down. Binance will be supervised but will continue to operate, and 18 months isn't a big jail term.
He's still getting a jail sentence? That's weird because last that I've heard about this issue is that CZ paid for the investigation to stop and him stepping down as the CEO is also part of that, didn't know that he's also getting that metal bracelets. I guess they got to comply with the US government, and it shouldn't be a problem to them because they're a CEX after all, they won't mind having the identities of their clients exposed right?
963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: December 26, 2023, 05:34:56 AM
It's hard to tell because in a scenario where bitcoin will solve poverty, it's just one of the many factors to the reduction but not eradication and it's not even the best factor to reduce because they're better off having bitcoin as a long-term investment but the impoverished people can't afford to do that because they're thinking on a more day to day basis in terms of expenses. If these people would be able to hodl bitcoin for a really long time though, they're definitely going to be able to have a big help to get out of poverty.
964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Solution to high rates? Maybe not, but it's an idea... on: December 26, 2023, 04:30:48 AM
Can this be like done now though, and can you explain it like how 5 year old like me could understand? Because I feel like I'm not getting it right, you're saying that there should be validators that would only process older transactions and they can't do anything besides confirming those? Because the space that's allocated are based on validators right?
965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share your Bitcoin spendings here on: December 26, 2023, 03:54:41 AM
Spent bitcoin directly: Never bought anything but some cheap stuff on that website back in the day where you can spend bitcoin for stuff on Amazon. That, and servers and proxies.

Indirectly: A lot of stuff. From reasonable stuff to materialistic stuff like nice sneakers and clothing.
I what happened to that process to use bitcoin to buy stuff from Amazon, really liked that because I wanted to buy something cheap in Amazon without too much worry about shipping cost, if I recall they've got a small shipping fee compared to when you directly buy from Amazon with fiat. I've done a lot of indirect bitcoin purchases more than direct stuff, maybe because Nike and Under Armour don't accept bitcoin for their products or the fact that bitcoin's not that popular in my country.
966  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin HODL: what happens to Bitcoin holders during impressive price increase? on: December 26, 2023, 02:49:07 AM
I don't know about the majority of the Bitcoin hodlers, but I might be cashing out some. I am actually in need of cash. I'm slowly drained of money. Most of my savings are in Bitcoin, and I can't just use it to support my needs. I'm a hodler. I've been holding on to my Bitcoin through the best in 2017 and the worst in 2018, the best in 2021 and the worst in 2022. I've, of course, made small conversions, but the biggest slice has always been kept for hodling. Of what point would my Bitcoin be if I can't enjoy it?
That's what you should do and I don't think it's wrong to ostracize or be weirded out when someone's trying to sell a part of their investment in bitcoin because that's what you should do anyway when you're investing into something, you enjoy it while still gathering profit out of hodling you bitcoins. You should prioritize solving your problems using bitcoin instead of just letting it sit all alone in your wallet somewhere waiting for the right time because that's never gonna arrive and in the end you'll regret not selling some when the prices are going up.
967  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Too Expensive For Me. on: December 25, 2023, 05:40:03 AM
You got that 2k invested in bitcoin and trust me, you're going to get a lot of profit if you hodl for a really long time or just set it to be sold when bitcoin gets to 100k. Also, you've got a job probably right? You can slowly invest in bitcoin via DCA and as time goes by, bitcoin isn't that expensive to you anymore. Don't be like those other people out there that's still indecisive about bitcoin investment because they're going to have a hard time regretting that indecisiveness when bitcoin gets to a new ATH.
968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if BTC were to be adopted as a global reserve currency? on: December 25, 2023, 04:50:10 AM
For me, the major benefit just in case it happens is the decentralization of economic power, by this, centralized platforms like banks or governments will be lessened as Bitcoin is already here that no one can control.
Another thing is the regulations, we all know how Bitcoin is really strict and hot in the eyes of regulators or governments, so expect more issues will come from governments.
It won't be lessened, they've got fractional reserve banking, they can just buy bitcoin using cheques and papers that says they paid this amount, and they'll be able to buy billions of dollars worth of bitcoin because most of them are tied to the government so they'll definitely going to get the biggest benefit of them all and they'll do some marketing to have you sell your bitcoin to them, that's not the truth yet but I believe that banks will be doing anything at their disposal to buy bitcoin if it ever becomes a global reserve currency.
969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watch out! Blockchair has been hacked! on: December 25, 2023, 04:18:51 AM
It is not clear that they have been hacked. This your problem might be that of malware your device got caught. It is a malware mostly on the keyboard which changes your bitcoin address copied to the scammers address most of these addresses are similar to the original one with mostly the first few characters and the last ones looking same. You can read about this attack here and on how to fix it https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5190776.0
This is the likely culprit OP because if it's on their side, they would've issued some sort of statement already about this incident. It's commendable that you're able to do double checking, definitely saved yourself from a hacker that wanted to steal from you. It's scary that this kind of stuff is happening, imagine those that are spending their bitcoin to buy stuff for the holidays but they got scammed, definitely heartbreaking and difficult to understand how people are doing this, not fighting fair.
970  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if all Bitcoin is lost? on: December 24, 2023, 06:29:56 AM
The miners will waste their time and effort doing all those mining and the world moves on, that's the only way that will happen when bitcoin is gone. Bitcoin doesn't have the expected impact yet because it's not as influential as we want it to be to the point that it's going to make waves in the economy of a lot of countries but if this was to happen when bitcoin's at the point where it's already influential to the economy and a lot of country have it as their secondary legal tender or maybe even their traded currency for the global market then we would see a more catastrophe happening.
971  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [Security] Additional Feature 2FA Implemented. on: December 24, 2023, 05:41:48 AM
972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is the #1 crypto currency in the world if it's slow and expensive? on: December 24, 2023, 04:06:14 AM
Because it's the one that a lot of people trust the most, it's the one that a lot of cryptocurrency out there that aspires to be and it's like a premium if you have a bitcoin and that you're with the cool kids if you've got a bitcoin plus bitcoin's got a sure exponential growth out of all the cryptocurrency out there and the people know that despite all of this things that you mentioned OP. Bitcoin is the spearhead to the financial freedom revolution.
973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Selling All Cryptocurrency for Fiat and Earning Interest? on: December 24, 2023, 03:27:20 AM
Well, the other option is hodling Bitcoin and hoping that it will grow more and more and you can not only retire but live luxurious life off it. But I think the risk/reward ratio suggests that it's better to retire asap by taking Bitcoin profits and reinvesting them in safe assets. Because just as Bitcoin can go to millions, it could also crash to the ground, and that would be catastrophic for someone who planned to retire with Bitcoin gains - now they would have to start from scratch.
You got to sell that bitcoin at some point because you can still get back into bitcoin, imagine the scenario where you've got an emergency and the amount of bitcoin that you're hodling is enough to help you get through that emergency but it's not yet at your target price, I know I would sell that bitcoin just so I can get out of that emergency as quickly as possible.

I don't know about reinvestment but that seems a good idea but it's going to depend on your situation and the amount you're hodling at that moment that you're seriously pondering this question, if you've got enough bitcoin stored that you can retire if you sell it then go for it but if you're not then reinvestment might be a good idea but choose the next investment wisely.
974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don’t think bitcoin is now decentralized on: December 24, 2023, 02:53:04 AM
The confirmation time is not proportional to fee. If the fee is below certain threshold, your transaction will probably never be confirmed. Like, if you put a 1 sat/vByte fee, it may never be confirmed if the fee will never be so low ever again, or if so much time will pass that the transaction will be removed from mempool by then.
So at the end of the day, you really can't defeat the system that's reigning in the mempool, you'll still have to put some money into your transactions and not just lazily putting the lowest possible because you can wait for a long time for the confirmation? I didn't know that, thank you. It's kind of sad though that this is how it's going to be with transaction fees, you can't pay too low or your transaction won't come through but you don't want to pay absurd amounts just to have the normal speed in transactions. I hope these ordinals lose their charm before the halving.
975  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge orders Craig Wright to pay over $1M on: December 24, 2023, 02:12:03 AM
Why is this person trying so hard to prove that he's Satoshi Nakamoto? If he was, he could simply login to this forum and make a post and clear it out.
What an idiot I would say. What's your thought on this?
That's the only way to prove himself but I think everyone knows already that he's the fake one and that a lot of his stories are just not matching up with any that a lot of us knows and he would've mentioned the other person's identity that helped with the building of the forum with. Another thing about Craig is probably that he already knows that it's all a joke and nothing more than just a deception, he just loves the spotlight and our attention too much that he'll do anything to keep that spotlight trained at him and our attention at him, that's what I think how his mind works in all of this issue.
976  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeeded in introducing Bitcoin to a friend on: December 23, 2023, 09:38:13 AM
My question now is that is it wise that I showed him the amount of Bitcoins I have accumulated before he developed interest?
It's smart but far from wise right now, for it to be considered wise, you have to tell that friend of yours the negatives of bitcoin too especially the volatility part, that's a big factor in my opinion that can decide if that friend will continue to invest in bitcoin because she's pumping out a lot of money in it for a newbie which wouldn't be advisable since it's a big money. Also tell her that she only needs to invest only what she can afford to lose because if she's hodling and her goal is the big profit in her bitcoin investment then that money will have to stay in a wallet for a really long time. Make sure that you're not going to be blamed in case the market goes down and her investment's value goes down because you're the one that's introduced her to bitcoin after all. Besides those concerns, I'm happy for you and your friend that you're able to invest in bitcoin and have hodling for the long-term in mind, may you reap great profits.
977  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: December 23, 2023, 08:53:11 AM
They need to experience losing every means they have to play, especially money because it will come at the time when they have no longer money, they will realize how to earn it and they won't gonna waste it next time. But for the people who get the money easily or always find someone who can fund them on playing, they cannot easily quit and most likely they can recruit others to play with them as well. Quitting requires some positive observations into the future and when a person doesn't have any high aspirations, he often doesn't care about that.
Losing everything doesn't mean they'll automatically learn about things, some might even go deeper than that and try to ask for a loan to continue their habit that's slowly turning to addiction every single day that they're spending on it. I don't think that prospecting the future is the key to quitting maybe it's just a part of it but I think and believe that the key to quitting gambling is to find their purpose and the person that they want to devote their lives to, what I mean by purpose is that when someone's just living their life aimlessly and swimming with the current, they're bound to look for something that will ease their search and sometimes those search lead to stuff that will lead to a life of ruin and so they end up getting stuck in that situation because they thought that the thing they've been looking for has already been found from that habit. The second one's pretty self-explanatory, you want to be the best person for that person so you'll do anything to make a positive change.
978  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: December 23, 2023, 08:18:55 AM
~
No casino will have a hidden policy and still make it known to their customers, Doing this undermines the entire intension of such policy, which is for it to be hidden.
And secondly, I honestly do not know if government usually will have the time to operate a gambling casino, but if they do, then personally, I believe that such casino will be the center of KYC.
But on the other hand, even if governments are to run a gambling casino, it will definitely be an offline casino, not the online one like we all on this forum are already acustomed to.

Anyways, whether government or private online or offline gambling casino, the fact remains that, kyc is something or a process we as gamblers can not run away from forever, we can only avoid casinos with this feature for some time.
I think I've misread and misunderstood it so I might be giving out a bad opinion that's not align with what I truly mean. When I was replying to this, my brain automatically implied with hidden that it's something that's still in the terms and condition but well hidden either by clustering it with words that are fresh in someone's eyes and they might not know or understand it or something that convolutes the simple terms so the readers won't catch on in regards to how they will handle you, your data and your experience in their casino or in short it's implied to me that it's the fine print. Of course if something's hidden, then that means that it's hidden and it won't be shown.

To answer your wondering about the government operating a casino, they have the manpower and gambling is a good source of tax and income if they operate one so it's a must for them to have a department or a government agency that handles gambling and the gambling industry as a whole, if you're a government that can't do that or assign a group of people to manage that small part of your economy and country then you're failing as a government. Totally agree about the KYC part, we need to be able to play with peace and know that we're playing somewhere that's not infested of money launderers.
979  Economy / Gambling / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 23, 2023, 07:50:56 AM
While this topic is probably helpful to someone out there, it is not the only topic of its kind. I see that you are new here so I would like to ask you to please take the time to use the search feature before making a post to make sure you aren't making a duplicate topic. Also, make sure you are posting in the correct section as this topic would belong in the gambling discussion board IMO.
It's tiring that we're just saying the same thing about this kind of stuff, maybe it's time that we should bump the oldest topic that's talking about this topic and then talk there about new tips, maybe a mega or giga thread of advice about gambling and how not to become addicted to it, helps with the congestion in the Gambling and Gambling Discussion so we can see more topics unrelated to tips and tricks on how to be a responsible gambler or maybe someone just create a new thread that will make it official that if we're talking about what to do and what not to do in gambling, we will just post there.
980  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you want to see in casino reviews? on: December 23, 2023, 06:42:59 AM
Also what I would like to see in a casino review is the customer care relationship with players, the accusations or alleged scam on the casino and how they were able to let themselves off it by providing evidence that they are not scammers. This is important because everything about review of casino centres on scam or not so to include this area to the review will be quite interesting and important.
As much as I like to see that, in an article form of casino review, that's going to be a lot of stuff to be given to the people to read and it's not really a good thing for a casino reviewer to do those because the casino that's being reviewed might see it as something that's slandering their brand especially if they've got an issue recently and it don't matter if this looks weird in your eyes but I think that as much as you can, never touch the issues like these when you're reviewing, make sure that you're neutral to your review so you're not going to have any problem. For me, I'm just sold with a review if they say stuff like bonuses for new players or any kind of freebies.
