Why buy hardware if you don't have faith and a belief that BTC will go up ? otherwise, regardless of what you pay for hardware,,,it will be a loosing proposition and only depreciate quickly without a rise in BTC value. And if you are fortunate you may have a small window of time to get a ROI, that is" IF BTC doesnt go up. If BTC it does go up, than its all good or at least enough rise in value to keep in step with the difficulty rise...thats all...simple...  Cheesy

Holy smokes! I hear ya   Wink

I hate to say it, no offense to TH or anyone else, But don't these guys and their approuch strike you with professionalism and genious...watch their video, very impressive,,,of course the proof is always in the pudding :0

http://cointerra.com/

All the professionalism in the world won't help when their chips aren't going to be out until November.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xx38ow4miX4

Um their smallest machine is 2 TH's lol,,,Im sure they will still have more than plenty of mining time for ROI...IF" ya have 14k to put up in a preorder now,,,lol
3386  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 31, 2013, 07:47:43 PM
wonder if terrahashs order is even in that 400,000 chips. Hopefully will be if some of the other group buys take refunds..Terrahash will likely not take refund, they need to ship, and with BTC hovering close to 150...we COULD still make ROI in 60-90 days if they can get them out the door quick..But the fact that 400,000 chips are coming right in sept. is funny since someone posted they had "insider" knowledge that Avalon was holding chips until september.
Yes strange that 400,000 would all show up at the same time.
I thought that too.....I would assume TH's chips would be in that 400k, as they placed orders in may 6 and 21st, I think.... 20k chips anyways, but will be up to the group buy(ers) if they want refunds or chips? which TH will be part of that...but safe to say i think there may now be some light at the end of the tunnel...lets hope so Smiley

This just arrived in my email:

Avalon ASIC

Chips Delivery Update, September Edition

Due to events outside of our control, the delivery of chips have been delayed so far. While the situation are improving and chips are shipping, we have ultimately decided to revert our policy on no refunds and offer the option for customers to request a full refund(in bitcoin) if so desired.

The link to the request form is below, please note this only applies to orders made earlier than June 1st.

In other news, for those who decided to wait or wish to know more about delivery schedule will be glad to note we are receiving a batch of 400,000+ chips on Wednesday, with that we expect to be in good shape for meeting the upcoming deadlines of chip deliveries for orders made in June and later.

In addition, we hope to wrap up generation one, finish shipping the chips, construct the modules and build the 2 module Avalon mini, put this pre-order mess behind us in general and switch gear into 55nm production, tape out generation 3, and start work on improving chip design for generation 4. Only sell what we can produce in a day on the assembly line, and only what's in stock.

Request Refund

We Miners, have to stop buying in to these ridiculous preorder fiasco's and stop supporting the Companies that want to use our Money to support their Large Scale ASIC Farms under the guise that they will send our Orders ASAP when Chips arrive.  I call Bullshit after seeing what has gone on this last year or so

We Need to stop giving them our Hard-earned Money so they can NOT continue to use us to Fund Their "Get Rich with ASIC Schemes"!  I'm sure there will be people who do not agree with me but having been burned myself and seeing the frustration of so many others on here I feel we need to put a stop to this ourselves!  By Not giving them any more money!

It's almost embarrassing but there are just to many optimistic people who are only to happy to become investomers and fund someone else's business and shoulder someone else's risk because they believe in big returns.  BFL and Avalon set the bar and were SO successful EVERY SINGLE other entrant in the retail hardware space (with the exception of ASICMINER) have done the same.  Obviously risking other peoples money while not giving up equity is a wet dream come true for a start up, what I think a lot of these companies fail to realize is that legally speaking there is a pretty clear distinction between a customer and an investor and that the law does not have a definition for an investomer.

Unfortunately it will be quite sometime IMO before we are done with full payment pre-orders (as much as I personally wish this wasn't the case).

Isn't that the truth! lol

Honestly, anyone can post anything in any thread if they so desire. I see mostly folks simply venting in here and (rightfully so) or just giving honest opinions,  so others can at least have a chance to make an informed decision based on their experiences with TH. Most of us never got that chance. Do you think for a moment that had I or most of us been able to read what we now can read about TH, we would have placed an order with them? or would we have perhaps looked at other options in ordering/pre ordering of asics?

Again, aside from TH's lack of comunications since the beginning" (and bad luck with getting their hands on the chips) I think they have the abillity to produce a product sooner or later. Im sure they realize now, it was a bad move to use the customer's order funds to fund their daily operations and development cost. (even tho im sure a lot do in this business  BFL for ex.) That money should have come from a seperate source, thats what small business loans are for,,start up cost and of course some of your own money out of pocket, knowing it may be lost as part of the risk in any small business start up. Otherwise, you shouldn't attempt to start any business,,,,believe me this comes from 24 years of having my own small businesses, and it ain't been easy!

Requested a refund last week, and again today.  Haven't heard a peep from TerraCrash.

PayPal is investigating them again.

I would expect they are under the circumstances....

If TH has any sense they will build THEMSELVES a few miners and start hashing to bring in a little extra cash flow for the overhead, at this point thats what I would do... Smiley

Given that most us will never buy the Avalon Chips if there were no group buy, the moderators must keep their side of the bargain and refund in full amount to those who join their group buy. The only 1 so far who is ethical and will honour the refund  is Zefir, he wrote to Yifu and got a reply. Sebastian and Steamboat has already make good profit's from their numerous group buys would you all please be considerate and be a great gentleman and refund back their money.

Bicknellski refunded everyone in his group:

I'm not part of his group, but have crossed a few paths with him thoughout this chip ordeal, but ya got to hand it to the guy, Bicknellski is so professional and genuine. We need more like him in this community, as he certainly raises the bar for the rest of us.  Wink

You know what I think MOST of us posting are trying to do the right thing and that to me is professional and genuine... gullible is also another adjective for us as well unfortunately we believed and really should have listened to the Batch 1 to 3 people and their issues rather than simply assuming those damn chips being delivered would be a cakewalk.
Hind sight is always 20/20 Smiley Yet life is always a little bit of chance and risk I guess, especially when there is no clear way forward, no road map to follow as in the world of Bitcoin Smiley
