2601  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: November 08, 2018, 04:34:44 AM
So they have updates the sales option on the chinese site.

I checked it out and translated just to get there. Here are their numbers

S15

28 TH/S +/-2%   @ 1596W  +/- 7%     states 50 J/TH

Efficiency Mode - I think can't confirm as I can only read the numbers but it still looks like there is only 1 machine option

17  TH/S +/- 2%    @ 850W +/- 7%      states 57 J/TH

*Updating *

T15

23 TH/S  +/-2%  @  1541W  +/- 7%      States 67 J/TH

Efficiency Mode - I think can't confirm as I can only read the numbers but it still looks like there is only 1 machine option

20 TH/S  +/- 2%  @  1200W  +/- 7%     States 60 J/TH

Both include the PSU and have max order quantities 2 for the S and 5 for the T

I belive they are also stating delivery between December 1 - 10. Might just be for China. There may be a price in there as well, but the format it translated to looks funky so I'll leave that out.

Official Info  regarding S15 and T15 from the Chinese Bitmain site

[...]

Sorry I did not follow your links, as they looked odd to me. I went here by going to their site and then flipping to the China option.

2603  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Current List of Competitive Hardware - November 2018 on: November 08, 2018, 03:56:13 AM
I have not contacted MicroBT, Must have been an oversight on my part as I thought I had emailed all/most companies outside Bitmain regarding their speculated hardware.

Have you had any luck reaching them; or getting information through their distributors? I only ask as I believe you were carrying/importing their products and figured you may have more info via salespersons.

I will at this time try reaching out to them. If I receive info I will update the OP, but post the information in the discussion threads.

Edit:

I have updated the Bitmain section of speculation for the S15 and T15. They are going to be released soon, and once someone has one and the numbers are close or on spec I will update their current listing, that goes on sale within 12 hours.

Feel free to let me know - This will help with future listings of hardware

1) If I should just "trust" that Bitmain will deliver this gear at spec and update their current hardware.
2) Wait until it's been in the wild, as this may just be a pre-order - this is my current plan.
3) Any other suggestions/criticisms of the thread to date.
2604  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: November 08, 2018, 03:41:41 AM
I've stopped following bitcoinwisdom a while ago, they really have some weird estimations

The estimates don’t work well on bitcoinwisdom but. The charts with redline blue line gray line are decent.

Yeah someone put me onto fork.lol about a year ago. Usually where I go if I'm bored andd feel like seeing what's been going on lately. Mostly because I've learned to accept Diff is going to do what Diff is going to do; So I just lay there and take it accept it. Currently showing - 12% but we are still more than half way there and I really don't trust them until around block 1500 ~75%, as this is usually enough data to get a close to accurate result barring any large changes in network hashrate.

Lately however it has been nice to check because as Phil has shown it's become significantly less depressing a figure for the moment.

I remember discussing the benefit of BCH for miners in February I think. I'd have to check a little more but without the BCH network we would be about 10% higher on the Difficulty. So the farms and big guys trying to float the network and battling over there own forks can keep it up.
2605  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: November 08, 2018, 03:27:07 AM
Apart from protecting their own image of financial stability I can't see why TSMC would comment on a customers ability to pay bills unless they have gone well beyond the payment schedule. The only reason I see them making a statement denying these rumors is to ensure their shareholders that they aren't in trouble.

Can't say that I know anything about the money TSMC makes or how much of that Bitmain is responsible for; but I could see news like this affecting them more than Bitmain at the moment. So this statement may be nothing more than reassuring their business partners that they 1) Have no large amount of outstanding debt they may not be able to recover and 2) That they do not have any particular large customers that are ATM going out of business creating a potential sales void.
2606  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | 0.00075 BTC/post on: November 06, 2018, 11:22:04 PM
There are a lot of people vying for a slot in the campaign, so it's tough to get a spot.

Considering you had previously applied and didn't qualify for a spot as an exceptional candidate, there is no sense in applying again at the moment.

Keep an eye on the thread, its updated weekly on fridays/Saturdays from what I've seen if there is an open slot it will appear in the title.

That's when you should apply, and be sure to follow the application specifications.
2607  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: November 06, 2018, 10:11:15 PM
Thanks for doing the address thing again Phil. Definitely not as bright and shiny as last year but who knows how many wallets they have. I could see all this BCH drama and work to prop it up as having cost them quite a bit.

It's funny that on one side there are the stories of impending bankruptcy, and on the other there is the launch of the new product line.

Almost smells like a big old PR stunt. Agent they preparing for an IPO or something right now. So even if half the news is speculation about money problems as long as they can show they are not broke it's not harmful.

... but no details on if it was the design that failed or the process.

Just wondering if it's the design that's on Bitmain, if it's in the process does that fall under the foundry to eat the cost?
2608  Other / Meta / Re: What do "bump" and WTS mean? on: November 05, 2018, 11:42:07 PM
Wts = wanting to sell
Bump us just a way to give your sales thread visibility. This can be done once every 24 hours

Wtb is wanting to buy just in case.

Edit:
Lol beat me to it. Yeah no guide really I usually just google terms I dont understand sometimes you find the answer lol

Yes and the ability to read a thread may also be helpful.

Thanks for the update. The only other time I remember someone having an issue like this they didn't come back with an answer. Glad everything is up and running.

My theory was that it had to do with Nicehash switching orders or something. It was just a guess as I've never used NH.
2611  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: APW5 w/ 821x2 on: November 05, 2018, 05:32:49 PM
forgot I have a few of these lying around. thoughts? Never used them on an asic before.

Can't say I've ever used them. The concern would be overloading the cable that you are splitting. I'm not sure what wire gauge they are. Might work but probably worth it to pick up another PSU.
2612  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: November 05, 2018, 04:31:09 AM
Interesting read. Hard to tell how much truth there is to it. I know there have been the rumors of a failed chip design, I think you mentioned something about a second even.

Phil weren't you able to check a couple wallet balances you were pretty sure were bitmain wallets? Be interesting to see what theh have in BTC reserves.

I got a nice chuckle unrelated to the article - the note at the end clarifying BCH as the true vision of bitcoin.
2613  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: APW5 w/ 821x2 on: November 05, 2018, 04:16:30 AM
I dont think the power draw at start up is that extreme, can't say I've ever measured.

Just for an idea though it would need to be about 3500 W at 220 volt to trip a 16 amp switch, which is almost a 50% increase.

You could also use the controller to  soft start/stop the miners if you're really concerned.

Edit: Just double checked the specs, does your PSU have enough power connectors? Pretty sure the 821s take 8 a piece, and the psu only has 14.
2614  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: APW5 w/ 821x2 on: November 05, 2018, 12:47:19 AM
You would be running close I think.

Just going baseline 2 * 821 = 2400W

So you'd be somewhere between 220-240V to get the PSU up to the 2600W output range.  Going worst case scenario you are pulling nearly 11 amps steady at 220.

I can't remember how the 821's fared with the voltage settings. If you can get the consumption down you would likely be fine.

There are however quite a few used PDU's you could upgrade to for a decent price to avoid a potential failure. Probably best not to push it, and just upgrade the PDU.

I think those may work for you.

Edit here is the testing Hagss did with the voltage offsets in the review thread.

2616  Other / Meta / Re: We need a merit system for local boards on: November 04, 2018, 04:56:16 PM
I think he is talking about merit source.

I don't believe so. I think they are looking for the benefits of reduced spam and shit posts that some boards seem to be benefiting from since the merit system was introduced. This is why I suggested seeking a moderator, as I don't think a merit system will have the same effect on local boards, considering many signature bearing campaigns do not pay for local board posts.

-snip- If I compare the quality of posts in main boards, now it's much more helpfull than it used to be.-snip-

But it looks like the spam moved to the local boards. -snip-

Can we do something about this and introduce a Merit system for local boards only? So that it is also needed to post quality on those local boards and prevent people from posting spam and worthless content?

When you come across garbage posts, spam, or whatever, just use the "report to moderator" button as Steamtyme suggested and hopefully if there's a moderator on the Dutch boards

I scrolled down to see and it didn't look like there was a dedicated moderator, hence the suggestion of requesting one.
2617  Other / Meta / Re: How to Add image on Bitcoin Talk Post on: November 04, 2018, 04:33:29 PM
You need to either become a jr. Member or buy a copper membership.

When following the jr. Member link be sure to focus on the top of the page under the update as the links lead to more information regarding merit and the restrictions on newbies.

To specifically answer your question you need to write a minimum of 30 posts, spread out over 3 activity periods(activity is explained in the jr. member link as well) and earn 1 merit. Or buy the copper membership if you feel the 1 merit is a barrier.
2618  Other / Meta / Re: We need a merit system for local boards on: November 04, 2018, 04:02:39 PM
It's a problem specifically for each local board more or less.

You may want to begin actively using the "report to moderator" function. I see there isn't a dedicated moderator there, so I'm not sure who would handle the reports. Best to make sure you clearly explain the issue with each post you report.

You could amend this topic to request a Moderator be assigned to the board. Best way to do this is to nominate some of the more active users on that board you/board community feel may make a good moderator. Report enough posts properly and it may even be you some day.

Just don't expect things to move quickly, good luck.
2619  Other / Meta / Re: [Anti-spam Suggestion] Forbid newbies to post URL's on: November 04, 2018, 03:46:10 PM
I was 100% for this yesterday, with no restrictions.

Then I did realize that in the Mining section a lot of newbies need to be able to post a link to imgur or something of the sorts so people can assist them with troubleshooting. Even though it would also be helpful in the reputation section - I think it shoul d be blanketed accross the forum, or those sections will become the targets for the spam waves.

So I'd be all for links to be unclickable - and have a tag along side it [Disabled link from New member, proceed with caution]

Adding to that the warning message could link to t athread some fine member of the community can create regarding safe practices with links.
2620  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: SHA-256 Bitcoin ASIC hashrate verification? on: November 04, 2018, 03:30:54 PM
I remember there being a product a few months ago that had some extraordinary cliams - I will try to find it.

The machine had to be pointed to their pool, and you accessed the miner status page via their website. The miner looked like a couple s5's taped together IIRC. In the end it was assumed this was a long CON, You would essentially be cloud mining. The machines you ran may not do anything more than turn on and connect to the pool.

So I really won't trust any gear that forces you to mine to their pool; or only provides access to the miner via their website.

3) Read all outgoing packets and ensure it's only sent to the selected pool. If there are packets sent to unknown places, the manufacturer could be receiving info on your pool/address and send some of their own hash to the same pool/address..

Sorry still lacking a lot of knowledge - What do you mean by this?? Where can this be found generally?
