Thanks glad you appreciate the content. Feel free to reference it anywhere it helps.

I checked out your thread, congrats on your growth in the forum. Only thing I would point out is your reference to my thread actually goes to a message within the topic, not the OP.

2182  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] (ends today) Over 30 lots of silver bitcoin coins on: March 06, 2019, 11:34:08 PM
While I don't think there was any ill intentions on part of the OP, I am thinking their real life has had some event that may have prevented them from fulfilling their obligations to the winners/bidders

That was the impression I got when I was still in contact with them. It's unfortunate because whatever the issue is it could still be sorted with relative ease. Even a moderate level of communication would have been greatly received.

Again I'm still hopeful for a positive outcome from this.
2183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Infographic]: Guide on possible reasons to leave a -ve/+ve trust feedbacks. on: March 06, 2019, 11:29:44 PM
Thanks for seeking my opinion. For a case of suspected Merit abuse (selling/trading/meriting alts) it's a hard call to make. I would say initially that this would warrant a neutral rating. This is because there are obviously degrees to which this can be seen as abuse and should be dealt with accordingly.

To go along with the neutral rating you would want to reference the investigation/accusation thread. Further feedback whether Negative or Neutral can be based on the outcome of the investigation.

Thinking on that I do realise my previous answer itself was rather narrowly focused. I personally would also consider fraudulent behavior worthy of a negative. These would play out similar to above and require investigations. I wouldn't put a negative without proof, but would leave the neutral on unless I became convinced otherwise. I would also have to check as I believe theymos is opposed to using the trust system in regards to suspected merit abuse. We know he will act if there is a blatant case.

For example - Selling/buying accounts - Possible puppet accounts being used to deceive and/or self promote - Account Sales

I do think all all cases deserve to be looked and and thoughtfully considered before a judgement is  made. People also shouldn't consider feedback to necessarily be permanent, shouldn't we consider a chance of rehabilitation. Good luck with the updating, and feel free to provide me with feedback if you disagree. Everyone will find their own way of doing things, and in the long run I feel the new system will  work out well.

I just assumed with me being international and rural it might take up to 2 weeks for my package to arrive.

minerjones, did killyou mention if they were shipping direct to the winners when they responded?
2185  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: March 06, 2019, 01:02:52 PM
They've always been pretty good to deal with. Not sure if you opened the miner up or not but if you do here's a thread/video I did last year.

Let us know how it turns out.
2186  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Do Bitcoin miners care about renewable energy? on: March 05, 2019, 04:41:34 PM
It's interesting that people have a choice. It's not something I grew up with or have now, all our electricity comes from hydro. I'm not really sure what the other provinces have in place, at most I know some can choose between the provider.

So for your example given the choices, I would go with the 4 cent power. This would only last until I was nearly priced out of mining, I'm willing to do my share but you still have to keep your head above water. I would expect any business facing this option would go with the less expensive power cost; unless they were particularly pro environment.

Ideally though if this is the situation they would find some other way to offset their carbon footprint overall, even if it meant using "dirty" power. Maybe even find a way to produce their own renewable infrastructure. This is unfortunately not a route many long term businesses want to try or take seriously. Hopefully Phil starts a movement warehouse owners.

That being said, my company only buys renewable hydro energy, and would never mess with dirty coal. There is enough environmental damage to the earth without us adding to it.

It's nice when you are around it and it's plentiful. Just wondering you don't have a less expensive option available do you?
2187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: March 05, 2019, 02:44:16 PM
hmm set it to 239 or 240 or 241

I'll have to head out to the garage tonight and check out the circuits I have out there, as that's where these would be installed. For my concern though I don't think the settings will help me if I'm consistently over Voltage. Those settings would be great for a stabilizer, at say 239 to keep it under their apparent hardcap for voltage. I am more concerned of the constant power cycling this device brings if I am indeed consistently over 240, sure I don't burn out the PSU by going over voltage, but flipping the switch on and off over and over again isn't going to help the equipment either.

To big a gamble for that bit improvement in efficiency until I know more. When I know I can run an M10 without worry, it's still the better option for me atm. I say this knowing that there is an S15 that I could grab in Canada for a decent price.
2188  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: March 05, 2019, 12:42:05 AM
Sorry just on mobile.

The error codes are additive, so you will have a few together.

That shows you have 2 boards down like you suspected. It may be the PMU board that is bad or 2 bad boards.

There is also the chance it's the cables from the PSU to that PMU board. Can you try swapping connections and see if the problem moves. Considering this may be a spare parts issue, where did you buy the miner?

Also what are you using for a PSU, do you have another one to try?

Edit: I believe you have these 4 codes:

CODE_HUFAILED
CODE_PGFAILED
CODE_INVALIDPMU
CODE_IDLE

I believe those 4 give the right total, but must admit i'm unaware if it's possible for another combination to provide the same error code.
2189  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: March 04, 2019, 11:58:51 PM
it's pretty much safe to assume that anything above 240v will put the psu in danger, i also wouldn't take bitmain support word's very seriously.

if you have a constant >240 voltage then that will be an issue, but if you are only worried about once in a while spikes then you can use something like this > https://www.aliexpress.com/item/60A-220V-adjustable-automatic-reconnect-over-voltage-and-under-voltage-protection-device-relay-with-Voltmeter-voltage/32814064058.html

it's more or less a voltage protector, it does not regulate voltage whatsoever, but it does close the circuit when voltage is higher than whatever you set it to, same goes for voltage drop, i use something very similar to this "not on miners but on a sensitive fridge"  and it works like magic.

Looks similar to something I was thinking of installing to actually monitor my power draw. Did I read it right that it opens the circuit and then re-establishes in less than 25 seconds? Problem is I'm not positive how often I go above. I may have to put more effort into confirming this if more hardware goes this way with a hard cap right at 240V. I would be okay with it kicking out the odd time, but would be hesitant to have it potentially cycle on and off several times in succession.

Thanks for the tip as I hadn't even considered something like this.
2190  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: March 04, 2019, 11:33:01 PM
Can you post a screen shot of the logs and miner status?

Here is a link to the troubleshooting guide it will tell you everything you need to know to uncover most of the common issues. In the meantime you should double check that all connections to the miner from the PSU are made.

Some of the main things you'll look for in the log are - MW0, MW1, MW2, MW3. These represent hashboards. ECHU and ECMM are error codes.

Good luck.
2191  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Infographic]: Guide on possible reasons to leave a -ve/+ve trust feedbacks. on: March 04, 2019, 04:39:36 PM
Glad you found my input useful. I'm interested to see if people start using the neutrals more frequently. Unfortunately in the few threads I've checked in on some people still want that Red vengeance and can't be convinced otherwise. These tend to be the same people who complain about the system overall, but won't adjust their way of thinking to use it as a tool.

I understand why you had left it out. Here's a bit of constructive criticism. Next time you see the opportunity to create something like this based on a request/comment you see. Take a little bit of time and see if/how you could also expand on the idea. It will help your infographics stand out against the others right from the start.
2192  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: March 04, 2019, 12:14:10 AM
Yeah I noticed that before. I actually got all those same coupons for the 1 miner I bought direct - it was a T9+. Funny thing is I bought it with a very good coupon as well.

Either way I'm going to hold off until I hear from Bitmain. Without a solid yay or nay I won't risk having the failure, my power costs allow me to happily buy m10's in the meantime.
2193  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ckpool vs btc.com? which one should i choose ? on: March 03, 2019, 08:38:10 PM
Is there a reason you have settled on those pools?

I could understand the question, if say you were only comparing pools that share the entire block reward including the transaction fees.

Then it comes down to fees, pool size for payment frequency.

Have you looked into say kano or slush.
2194  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New Warehouse - How to wire it? on: March 03, 2019, 05:47:22 AM
Yeah Phil nailed it, and his photo is from experience. The side bits though, so you don't have unforeseen bureaucratic downtime.

Make sure you find out from the city what the lead time is for this "Certificate of Occupancy". I'm guessing you meant the power company needs to see one of these from the city beforehand. So I would double check with the city: What sort of inspection/proof is required for the permit and timeframe for the whole process - so you or the utility company has it in hand.

Next run through a couple of electrician quotes. Show them the list Phil gave you and pay attention to see if it makes sense to them. I've seen crews say all good, only to end up just botching the overall install and not meeting expectations. Which is the follow up, be on site when they are wiring up the plugs. Again there is likely to be some permitting involved so be prepared for this as well; also a good sign if the contractor doesn't start talking about there being no need to permit the job.

Your job isn't huge from the panel out. So it will be a small project to oversee, but delays can be a bitch on any project. Good on you finding a space.
2195  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon Terminator 3 on: March 03, 2019, 05:25:44 AM
Honestly they had their shot. The specs sound great, and have for a long time. I just get the impression that if you don't want 50 units they don't really want to sell to you. Maybe it's just me but that's all I see when they don't have a firm ship date time frame and say things like -

Quote

Taken from the sales page.

Yea, no way to import these and be cost effective. Innosilicon shipping rates are about $100 or more over priced and it's still cheaper to send a wire than BTC. I think the T3 asks for over $200 a unit to ship.

I believe that reinforces the idea that they are looking for big fish to just fire them out a bunch of cash to host these machines. Really makes me wonder what their power costs are and what proof people have that these are the machines that will be hosted. It's not like they don't already have okay hardware that could be profitable with low enough power costs. Not to mention if you get a massive cash infusion for T3's.

At least they explain away the cost by informing everyone that they insure the packages for shipping. Unfortunately they also point out that any damage is at the customers cost, as once they've handed the item over to the shipping company, the purchaser is the owner and responsible for it. Followed by the bit where it will be insured in your name/business name, so ideally you would only be left on the hook for some deductible, but who really knows when you don't even get a ship date.

Not going to lie I would love one of these, I however never ordered a T2T so I have no coupon. Then there's still that nagging shipping date that I can't help but listen to. I'll be glad for anyone who receives one of these, I just have no clue when we will see it in the wild.

Sorry slipped my mind ill get a few up tonight, thanks for the reminder Phil.

So below you can see how the beginning of the migration into the home for he M10's on the left. The right is the temporary permanent setup that has appeased the wife so far.

In the current setup I found that having the overhang of in this case the 1/2 inch rigid, definitely helped with the noise above. It just forced the sound to bounce down a bit more before being unleashed on the floorboards above. i'm currently playing with some designs for a build that I can use for years to come. It's just down to the dimensions at this point.

You can see I played with some of my left over 6" mineral wool insulation from my home renos. The difference in sound directly above was amazing so I got to thinking of a build using this as my main sound barrier for everything past the miner exhaust. On the intake side it will be the same, but lined with either with white fire blanket or a lightweight thermal roll cut and stapled. It's really only three to prevent the mineral wool fibres from entering the miner. Now for the unveiling of what I try to forget I've been breathing for 2 winters. Still shaking my head at the thought of it, stupid me thinking they would have lined the joists/floorboards with tin as well.

The top image was in the main air return to the furnace, now acting as the main air return to the basement. This has since been isolated to the right, to prevent air flowing through the ramainder of that patch until I clear the family out to yank it all down. The left is the air return at the base of my main level stairs and front door. the bottom 2 are where I opened up to create return lines to the furnace, these are in the same area as the miners, on the side they exhaust towards.

So far I'm pleased with how this year has gone, but to extend this as long as possible I need to make a few adjustments. I've noticed on our few days of -12C that the basement gets warm. Nothing severe but the fans definitely work harder and I notice them more through the day, over the family noises. It's mostly because I'm listening for it, but best to get ahead of these things.
2197  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: March 02, 2019, 04:48:08 PM
Looks like the T15 has also sold out for April delivery. I held off on ordering when i realised it was more than a month until shipdate. It's a little short sighted on my part.; but i have no need to take 28TH of inefficient 741's offline until May.

I have decided to take this time to reach out to Bitmain support and ask about max input voltage of 240. I know it wad only a couple and could have been a cold/moisture issue, but it doesn't sit well with me to have a potential problem that would definitely void the warranty.

I am the worst at pulling the trigger on new gear
2198  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FREE RAFFLE] for Crypto Cosmos buyers only (AUTOMATIC) on: March 02, 2019, 04:48:28 AM
Sorry I won the BTC postcard in this auction, if I read it right. I was referring to the part where I was drawn a second time. It was a good rule for this excellent auction as it helped make sure there was a good spread. Doesn't hurt that I got something really cool out of it as well.

https://blockstream.info/block/0000000000000000002604850b4390aeea5903f97a979311706ff493992f8d04
04 = 0 x 16 + 4 + 1 = 5, congrats Steamtyme on the BTC card!

https://blockstream.info/block/0000000000000000002b9cd79fa769f56cd15846026254ddee3923dad1afea4a
4a = 4 x 16 + 10 + 1 = 75, again, that would be Steamtyme, but since you already got a card through the auction, this one will be passed on, sorry (as stated in the raffle rules). Next.

I've actually been really lucky and fortunate in the entire Crypto Cosmos release. I put together something kinda neat, to me anyways. Once I get all decks in I'll post some photos. Thanks again Kryptowerk you've been great.

2199  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FREE RAFFLE] for Crypto Cosmos buyers only (AUTOMATIC) on: March 02, 2019, 03:51:33 AM
Wow thanks for doing this. No worries on the intervention card, I would have passed it along anyways as I believe I have 1 or 2 coming from the auction.

Can't wait to get my hands on everything.
2200  Economy / Reputation / Re: An obvious case of trust abuse (DT members welcome) on: March 01, 2019, 03:01:25 PM
I'm really fascinated at how some people can't see the forest for the trees here

I find it funny you use this saying, as i feel you've fallen into that trap. You are so focused on what you want people to do for you, as this is an issue you have with what someone has said about you. That you haven't paid attention to the forest of information, options or ways to resolve this yourself.

I refer you to my previous post about this. I will go so far as to say that if you are not willing to take any action such as leaving a neutral or engaging with lucius, i would not be willing to leave a neutral myself in your place, as others have considered.

Lucius i would really reconsider using negatives for behaviour/posting issues you have with people. That is a good place for neutral to use as a comment. In your case it will be seen the same to the rest of the world. With the added benefit that others may find your feedback useful
