2561  Other / Meta / Re: What is this forum for? on: November 16, 2018, 11:07:05 PM
Is't it a ban evasion? If someone banned it's only allowed to open 1 (one) topic in Meta about the ban, and nothing else.

Yeah I said this a few months ago there was another plagiarist creating multiple topics in meta like their own person therapy board.

Either way OP just needs to move on. If theymos changes the rules allowing for giving up signatures and makes it retroactive. Until then OP can take a hike.
2562  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Roller Coaster #2 on: November 16, 2018, 10:59:38 PM
I can't say I would have been interested in those changes.

The .01 I put in is there with a full understanding that it may become 0. Along the way though I get to see a nice snapshot each step of a random sampling of the alt coin market.

I like the fact that we all just dropped in the same amount and without any say in others choices have locked in. Maybe we make some extra maybe not. Either way it was a small investment to make to have a nice sample of the market for 10 months.

Maybe 1 year the 10 months catch up and hit a massive spike in prices on the 10th month lol

Thanks again for all the updates Loyce, the extra work you put in is appreciated.
2563  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Best way to shut down an Avalon 741? on: November 16, 2018, 08:46:39 PM
That's what I tend to do. It just seems to be the gentlest way to power down the equipment.

I actually run 2 741s on 2450w psus which is why I started thinking of a way to avoid just throwing the switch.

I tend to stop cgminer from the status page. Watch the miners idle until they are cooled down to the touch. Then throw power and disconnect.

After this if I have to move the controller I unplug it.
2564  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Possible moisture issue on: November 16, 2018, 02:46:16 AM
Have you identified the source of the water?

The droplets suggest it might be condensing on the ceiling above and dropping down, or leaking through and flowing across the ceiling before dropping down.

The puddles suggest it's a decent amount of water or a separate issue of a leaky line nearby.

As long as the employees are wearing the electrical standards gear for the breaker sizes and the proper grounded footwear for smaller breakers they should be fine.

Either way I would be trying to identify the source of the moisture whether it be the intake air or a leak. If water is pooling and their is a good amount of airflow (which judging by the wall of miners there is) you probably have quite a bit of moisture in the air which isnt good for the miners

Edit: is that image of the exhaust side?
2565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Daily power cycle an s9 or l3+ ? on: November 15, 2018, 11:22:31 PM
I'd have to check my antminer gui but I think for those you could go in and delete the pool info then save and apply.

I think you could also kill the network connection, if you had to. I have really only done it with my avalons a handful of times when moving them
2566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Daily power cycle an s9 or l3+ ? on: November 15, 2018, 10:53:26 PM
I can't say I've heard of any issues in particular with this. More than likely you may wear out your switch before anything else.

I would suggest doing a soft stop. Do this by stopping the mining first and bringing the machine to an idle then shut it down. The power draw wi be reduced which is easier on equipment.

Honestly though if it's still profitable during the day I would run 24/7.
2567  Other / Meta / Re: Post counts don't show? on: November 15, 2018, 09:21:23 PM
Is there a chance that you are just exploring areas where people haven't selected to display the post count? Edit: thought that was an option

Not sure if there are boards that don't display it either.

I'm pretty much exclusively here using chrome so I can't say I've ever noticed or been concerned by seeing g the post count of users.

Edit: just played with it a little. Go to your profile then the forum profile information tab. There is a check box to display post count
2568  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos, help me, please! on: November 15, 2018, 08:49:05 PM
If you translated something and didn't quote the source this would also be considered plagiarism, especially if it's made to look like original work.

This was the thread I was talking about.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926895.0

Check if your there. Sometimes a mod wha can see the ban details will come along and show you the post that resulted in the ban
2569  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos, help me, please! on: November 15, 2018, 08:25:39 PM
Is this your first ban?

I dont see a timeframe for the ban so it appears permanent. This cod brings related to plagiarism, did you copy and post any content?

There's a thread where plagiarism is reported check for your name there to start.
2570  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: November 15, 2018, 07:33:13 PM
Well Diff adjustments going the good way is a nice offset with the current price. If this keeps up it would be interesting to see what the next retarget period brings us.
2571  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolinminer & Whatsminer FAQs on: November 14, 2018, 07:51:58 PM
There appears to be issues within the supply chain for 1 of their altcoin miners.

You can see the thread here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5068845.msg47865706#msg47865706

Not sure all the details but it looks like 1 of their official distributors will eat the cost increase from microbt the other will not.

So far this is not affecting any of their other gear sales
2572  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: November 14, 2018, 07:37:26 PM
So no B2 has shipped yet. There website claims to have hit the number for production to start on the B3, so orders have been halted, but you can send an email if still interested.

Then I read in another thread they are offering refunds for the b2 and cannot ship them.

I've requested more info, and directed them here
2573  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: November 14, 2018, 07:18:29 PM
Hard to say what's going on with them ATM, I'm pretty sure they sold out the first day launch. Whether they call that batch1 or label things in that manner anymore.

Can't be hurting as I still see the 2 unit max per order through the site.

Well were already seeing a large price decrease whether that holds as the new normal or not is yet to be seen.
2574  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: November 14, 2018, 06:35:27 PM
It was obviously Phil.

To keep difficulty flat he had to tank the price to offset the new efficient hardware being launched.

Unless you are getting ready to pay bills today/tomorrow.
2575  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The winter mining setup on: November 14, 2018, 12:58:43 PM
-snip- the exhaust hose junction to the basement door and taped it down to vent into the house. Electric heat, so it cancels out nicely

Good job. Yeah every bit of heat helps through the winter months.

How about a summer setup? -snip- Plus how do you maintain this kind of setups? Would you mind explaining?

I posted this as it's a shift from the norm for people in my situation. Maintaining this one for me is pretty straightforward. The miners put out enough heat to keel the basement in the high 20 degree C range. Which heats my main level floors up a bit, I leave the basement door ajar to help out a little as well.

Biggest concern was my pets hence the insulation and mesh screen on the I take and exhaust.

For the summer set up it's the opposite you I really need to get the best out of the space. Myself my miners exhaust tk withing 6 inches of the window in my garage. I have a thick wire mesh with good spacing for airflow that I use as a lower panel for my main garage door. A couple screws and locks and its secure for the summer.

I'm currently looking forward to get my hands on Canaan Mining Warmer. Smiley
and I have a good friend who could use the heat it produces during the winter time.

Those are going to be a neat idea. Ideally they will be quiet so they can be placed directly in living spaces.

I do have a few cold spots in the house still due to poor ducting designs/renovations over the last 100 years, so I have been looking for options.

What can i say though it is nice making unprofitable  (or nearly so) gear useful and profitable again.
2576  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] CRYPTOMIND: Cryptocurrency Deck Of Cards - LIMITED # - unique crypto game on: November 14, 2018, 01:13:25 AM
This looks awesome, and good job with the game development aspect.

Could I reserve 55 and 75.

I would suggest RVN be added if you still want suggestions.
2577  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing the WhatsMiner M10S 44TH @ 60W/TH or 55TH @ 65W/TH SHA-256 16nm Miner on: November 13, 2018, 08:04:40 PM
Well that looks like their really playing fast and loose with max power draw.

Is there any info regarding burn in for long term 24 hour operation? Just curious as I've always been weary of built un PSU's
2578  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing the WhatsMiner M10S 44TH @ 60W/TH or 55TH @ 65W/TH SHA-256 16nm Miner on: November 13, 2018, 04:38:39 PM
Glad to hear some have made it out. These are the sold demo units I'm guessing.

Can you guys post photos or screencaps of the logs and gui for everyone to checkout.

I heard these were being priced at 3200 anyone know for sure if that's what they are going to launch at? I want to get as much info as possible to update them on the hardware list.
2579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Pangolinminer demanding extra payments for delayed Whatsminer D1 shipments on: November 13, 2018, 02:53:03 PM
However, as a distributor, whatsminer.net will not charge extra for anyone who purchased before this announcement was made. Anyone who ordered from us within the last 12 hours will be offered a refund.

I didn't realize you were associated  with Whatsminer. That's a solid move on the part of your company to honor the prior price and to work with people moving forward. Keep up the good work.

I can't blame Pangolin for the situation they are in. This is a MicroBT clusterf**k and they should be taking better care of their supply chain as well as the image they are trying to build as a company.
2580  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: November 13, 2018, 02:48:47 PM
The retarget happens just after the fork, probably Friday night (European time)

The next retarget period will be a decent indication of how much hashrate was just mining BCH to build up a bag before the fork, just with the timing to see who comes back to BTC right away. A lot of Hash will stay there from the parties with loads of power and competing interests.

I was wondering do we have a decent idea right now of how much of the spikes and valleys on the hashrate charts is the combined variance of miners. Right now it's hard to figure with large amounts of hash shifting with the BCH fork.

I was watching a convo somewhere about someone speculating on their theory about Diff rising. It led me to something that I hadn't thought about with Diff. The effects corm with a pretty significant lag factor. When things start to go good or drive up interest to put more hashpower online, it could take a month maybe more for the Diff to react and increase, the same can be said about the decline. This person was talking about the rises that had been going on for a 6 month period this year. When I started to look at it, those were just the lingering increases from the Fomo late last year and the subsequent cooling period where miners where still flying off the shelves into January.

Then here we are where Diff has been essentially stale feeling no pull in one direction or another. Now a few months from now I think we are going to see the pull upward from the New gear which is 1 of the 2 factors I thought would cause a move.
