2001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the centralization of Bitcoin mining pools be prevented? on: April 06, 2019, 06:00:17 AM
Honestly I think the best safe guard against this at the moment, is their own self interest. Bitmain stands to gain nothing by doing this and would lose everything in the end. Sure they may make some coin in the very short term, but once it came to light that the network suffered a 51% attack, faith in the system would be lost. Adoption would be set back years at a minimum, and with it any sense that people had about stability or projected future growth would be shattered.

Their equipment sales and earning would be the next thing to tank. So it would be very shortsighted for them to participate in anything of the sort.

I do think that they could do it with all the pools under their control especially if they brought over the Hashrate from BCH. It would probably just be easier to spot if it was a coordinated effort across several pools they control.

In regards to the centralization of mining pools. I think we're stuck with it. People are to focused on receiving a daily reward and knowing exactly what they are receiving each day. Some also don't do enough research and are sucked in by a fancy interface, and think that is worth an extra 1.1-3 % of their rewards. Not to mention the miner fees they don't realize they aren't taking in either. Like most problems it's a lack of knowledge, and ignorance to the system.
2002  Economy / Goods / Re: iPhone X 256GB for sale good price on: April 06, 2019, 02:21:54 AM
People here are wary of newbie accounts trying to sell expensive items. If you are going to use the forum marketplace I suggest you answer basic questions, it also looks really shady to try and move legitimate discussions off the forum instead of providing basic answers.

So far people are waiting for an answer to:   Using forum trusted escrow? Where are you shipping from?

See this thread for suggestions to improve the image as well. [WTS] Posting guidelines
2003  Economy / Reputation / Re: Steamtyme - An attack helicopter clearing the air or a "Reputation Thread" on: April 06, 2019, 02:00:14 AM
You're right. I didn't think to ask this time around, I sorta went into quick reply mode, so much that I think my first and only answer was "no". I then sent another message with more words for clarity. What can I say first time jitters.
In the future I'll try and get some more information from them. They did respond letting me know their grammar and grasp of English gave them away.

I wish I had asked what kind of deal they tried to swing. II'm kind of active in currency exchange and the marketplace as well, I like to try and trade/buy/sell through the forum before going elsewhere. I'm just glad the member had the foresight to reach out to my account on the forum directly.
2004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: THE FASTEST MINER IN THE WORLD!!! on: April 05, 2019, 12:45:10 PM
Well that's no way to announce hardware or throw out claims of being the best. You do realise that + or - 50% is a ridiculous statement, when talking about equipment performance.

Also the requirement that someone has to buy your tokens for the priviledge of buying this vaporware is laughable. Couldn't resist poking around a little more.
2005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: THE FASTEST MINER IN THE WORLD!!! on: April 05, 2019, 12:38:12 PM
I can't be sure I  only took a quick glance. It appears right now you do not have a miner, so I'm not sure how you can compare it to other miners.

Next is this a round about way to promote your ICO?

Reported to be moved.
2006  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is it okay for a top 10 most trusted account too... on: April 04, 2019, 11:52:12 PM
I probably don't fall into level of opinion you are looking for, but I'll give it a go.

Quote
Is it okay for a top 10 most trusted account too Buy and sell accounts and also farm signature campaigns?

2 systems at play here Forum "Rules" resulting in banable offences and Trust system, involving feedback.

As for Forum rules, the question doesn't present any problems. You can have multiple accounts and there are no forum rules for Signature campaigns and how you participate. That is ignoring potential spam, and plagiarism, trolling.

I think your question comes down to the trust system more than anything. This centers around community determined acceptable and unacceptable behaviors; some having more consensus than others.

If they are currently brokering accounts, this should receive negative feedback.
If they are enrolling more than 1 account in the same signature campaign, at a minimum you should notify the campaign manager. If you see the campaign has a rule about only 1 account, (most do) they should be left negative feedback, and notify the campaign manager.

There are a few threads I believe that connects alts together whether they are scamming or not. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to disclose this. I can think of at least 1 example of a member I trust who withheld this type of information, until the account began to act somewhat inappropriately.

In the future though if you have certain people in mind who's opinion you want, just send them a PM to begin the dialogue.

Sorry to go a bit off-topic

I'm not going back years to tag anyone for account sales.  When that consensus was reached that all members ought to be tagged regardless of who it is, it was from that point forward--and that was only a few months ago.

Sorry I must have missed this. Hasn't it been consensus to tag any account sales for years?
2007  Other / Meta / Re: Disable Links disguised as Bitcointalk.org topics. on: April 04, 2019, 05:12:22 PM
It's ~impossible to preemptively detect all cases like that, and very difficult to do even a halfway-decent job. That guy isn't even trying to link to "bitcointalk.org". So it's whack-a-mole. That's why the green highlight was added: it's easier to whitelist than blacklist.

I understand it's a constantly changing battle. That was  my mistake, in missing the punctuation. Thanks to you and LoyceV for pointing that out.

Also sorry, what green highlight?

Would disabling clickable links for brand new and newbie accounts be something you would consider. Only because it's easy to create an army of these accounts to post these types of links.

Iasenko- not a lot of newer accounts realise the pitfalls of clicking on links early on. Even some older members slip up from time to time. I get we can't baby proof everything but small steps to help along the way are nice. I do the same i quote pretty much all links just to make sure they're on the up and up.
2008  Other / Meta / Disable Links disguised as Bitcointalk.org topics. on: April 04, 2019, 03:02:52 PM
Edit: I missed the fact that this was bitcointalkorg to bypass the safeguards in place.

I've noticed this happening a few times recently someone uses the hyperlink to disguised as a bitcointalk.org topic. I personally thought this was already disabled as I tried to do it in a [PSA] thread I created a while ago. I linked to the second message as it was a "Rickroll" to show about clicking on anything you see.

This quote shows it broken down well in the topic so I'm crossposting it here, as it will likely be deleted from the original thread - it's unrelated but up as a warning until the original post is dealt with.

Really excited to see the offering

https : // bitcointalkorg/index.php? topic=284987.9 [ / url]

here it is deconstructed

and it leads to this

What I'm wondering is can we disable using "bitcointalk.org" as a title for hyperlinks. That would be the best blanket solution in case hacked accounts start posting the same garbage. Another option is prohibiting brand new and newbie accounts from posting a clickable link.

Sorry if the terminology is off, but I'm pretty sure most will catch the drift here.
2009  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: S15 BRAND NEW MINERS - AT TESLAWATT in NEVADA! on: April 04, 2019, 12:49:40 PM
Nice. Glad to hear this has turned out legit.

Biffa you should leave a feedback under there profile, to help them in the future now that they have a presence here. I only suggest this as you are their customer.
2010  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BTC FPPS][EN/UA/RU] UKRPOOL.COM on: April 03, 2019, 10:39:16 PM
Here's what it comes down to. You are here trying to find miners. Right? Any other FPPS pool coming in here would have to answer the same question, because I'll ask them to.

As a miner if you can't tell me what to expect for payouts i wouldn't consider your pool.  I believe most other miners are the same.

What can I say we like to know what to expect for payment, and being able to confirm it's right.
2011  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS][EU] 5 x Asus 1070 + 6 x Sappire 470RX mining rig on: April 03, 2019, 09:43:59 PM
Can you post photos of the rigs with a handwritten not containing your forum username and the date. Are you accepting escrow?

You can check this out for ideas to help your thread.
2012  Economy / Reputation / Re: Questions about Merit and Trust on: April 03, 2019, 06:59:07 PM
Some of what you are looking for can be found by reading a couple topics. I'll give you some short answers where I can, and some links if I can find them.

Merit - Ideally you merit "quality" posts. This is obviously different for everybody so it's a very broad brush which is fine. Merit isn't meant to be an insurmountable hurdle, but still a tool to improve forum quality. When it was introduced it was pegged to account ranks moving forward so to rank up you needed Activity and Merit.

Abusing merit can be shady stuff like selling it, meriting your alts to rank them up. Again there are no hard and fast rules, and theymos had given a bit of direction for people not to go crazy tagging suspected merit abuse. If there is some glaringly obvious abuse case he will reverse the merit transaction.

Trust is actually feedback. Again a system that is not regulated and is used differently by everyone. You can look at the feedback I've left to see how  I proceed.

DT means default trust. These members are who's trust scores will be displayed if you do not make your own custom trust list, and remove default trust.

Mostly I use neutral if I want to state something about the accounts behaviour or personality, could be good or bad.
Positive - If I had a successful trade with a person
Negative - Unsuccesful trade, attempted scam. I will also tag sales threads that exhibit patterns previously used to scam.

I am however always receptive to changing feedback, if conditions or behaviours change.

Biggest suggestion always leave a reference, and an accurate amount risked for BTC.

Dust doesn't accumulate to a payout threshold. Kano is working on some accounting code, once finished dust payments will be sent out.

If you are new and ramping up once you are over the dust threshold, you receive a reward every block.

What's your hashrate?
2014  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help on: April 03, 2019, 04:12:27 PM
It's my second account because I lost the first account and my problem now is that I can not get the points of merit to participate in the signature campaigns

Losing an account can be rough. How did you lose it?

Can you link the account? Someone might go through the posts, to see if they deserved merit to help build this account.
I have banned because I did not know forum rules please, can you take a look at my topics and give me a merit point if you deserve it

Okay so I figured as much this is ban evasion. You as a person were banned, you can create a Ban appeal and post in Meta, but you are not allowed to create a new account and post elsewhere on the forum.

Pretty sure your message explained that in the email.

2016  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A10 series announced on: April 03, 2019, 03:26:24 PM
Just noticed, this is using 16nm chips!

Hmmmm, that would be interesting to see them go back. Maybe they noticed MicroBT's results. I think it's more likely whoever made the product information page slipped up a little. In the past it's generally a copy past of older hardware then they edit it with the new specs. We'll just have to wait on Steven to come back and enlighten us a bit.

Biffa-

I think there will still be need for the controller, not positive. For the networking I believe that you will be using the rj45 cables in place of the AUC cables. So only 1 device whether that be the PI/Controller is connected to the router/switch, then the rest are connected in the same fashion as previous models just a different cable.

I could be wrong but that's my understanding of the info given. I'm interested to hear more from Steven on this, it's all pretty cool. Especially the option to have a built in PSU or not.

Thanks for that.

The note definitely sounds like something I would do. I should really practice some of the basics a little more. Appreciate the heads up.

Anyone having trouble with the last payout not verifying?  I still have a "?" In the confirmation column with zero confirms approaching one day now.

Thanks to this block you can see the pool confirming it's own transaction for the last blocks payout. Definitely a great way to keep fees low and more BTC in the hands of the miners.

First M10 block on the pool as well if i'm not mistaken.

Why not try Blokforge they are the Canaan official distributor in the US.

You can find them in the link below or check my profile for my affiliate link.

Edit: Just saw they only have the 841's used. They do have a firmware update that makes them as efficient as the 921's.
