2321  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Whatsminer Power Supplies Blowing on: February 03, 2019, 05:42:31 PM
When I first read the title I got a little worried.

Sorry it happened to you but it definitely seems an isolated incident.  That's exactly what I was trying to avoid when mine arrived. They were left outside in -30c.

I did what Phil showed in the image with my 741's for 12 hours for 1 I believe the other sat there for a day.

For startup - if the miner is warmer than the ambient temperature, you will not get condensation. I have started my 741's in the garage as cold as -5c. I've never had to start anything else in colder temperatures. In the end I wouldn't recommend starting it outside the range given for operating specs

I think you may be looking at it a little skewed D57.

Anyone over 100% would only be relation to the luck of the block. They were still only paid for the shares they submitted, dame as everyone else.

Really the list would just be of people who stayed for the good luck days and abandoned during low luck periods. So sub 100% vs anything over 100%.

Which is more inline with pool hoppers.

Here though you can't swoop in at say 120% and hope to score a large chunk of reward the 5nd levels things out that way.

Being priced out of the market is way different. We know you'd be here if you could. In full force that is. I saw you  have a couple little soldiers marching for you again
2323  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M10 33.0 Th/s, 2145W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: February 02, 2019, 09:13:37 PM
My guess for the price jump is that they weren't moving any of the 33 TH models.

I know i wasn't about to pay 125$ per TH, for the extra 2.

I'd say still a good deal, just not as good.

Woot woot. Lovin these blocks. Especially now that i've adjusted my payout address lol.

Don't like the PoolHoppers here on Kano... Angry

The 5nd deters pool hoppers. Fail overs are different.

Regardless ill take any and all hashrate here helping out.
2325  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Unofficial Quadriga Cx Thread on: February 01, 2019, 10:08:10 PM
Good on you updating this thread as it unravelled.

I'm fairly unscathed on this, unfortunately i had 1 mining reward go there while I was on vacation. Best case it got there and things roll out smooth. Worst case its gone. It was small so not to big a deal.

I must say i'm shocked they didn't send an email to customers.  Just a blank webpage... that was lying for the first couple days.
2326  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Possible moisture issue on: February 01, 2019, 09:35:28 PM
Wow that's pretty extreme. I would even if temporary install some sort of hood over the intakes. This will at least minimize how much rainwater is being sucked in through the fans.

It's  pretty cheap and simple fix, especially when compared with damaging equipment. Margins are slim these days don't want to burn anything out through lack of effort.
2327  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon Terminator 3 on: February 01, 2019, 09:28:20 PM
Well they definitely cut it close for any news in January. The model looks nice but I agree it's priced to high for me ATM, with everything else available.

My guess is that price is to allow for this special 5 day bulk order discount, and it seems like it may be a small batch run so it could sell out fast. That helps promote that price point in the long run. Can't wait t'il March to see them in the wild.

I'm not surprised by the Asic boost, it was on their T2 models iirc.
2328  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Research shows it is hard to make money with bitcoin mining on: February 01, 2019, 08:56:25 PM
Will A guy in his home with 2 x 30amp 240 volt circuits make money not so easy or certain for him.

Sounds like a guy I know.

In my case to make that scenario work, my miners are heaters. This obviously only applies to Winter months but it's a straight trade off versus my electric furnace.

The best way to squeeze a profit out in this market is to get creative. I don't like the idea of it but I could see a lot of home miners becoming seasonal, if the conditions are right.

My situation currently has these units supplementing the heat in the home.

4 * 741 = 31 TH/S - these would be otherwise obsolete
2 * m10 = 48 TH/S - 1 of these is in low power mode to manage in house noise levels.

waiting to find a spot is my 841 that is in the garage until further notice
2329  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing the WhatsMiner M10S 44TH @ 60W/TH or 55TH @ 65W/TH SHA-256 16nm Miner on: February 01, 2019, 08:36:55 PM
I read it as Pangolin was "sales outlet" or distributor.

I am curious though dj_wldwst - What is your connection with Pangolin, if any?

I never noticed them selling the m10s on their site, I may have missed it all together. I was definitely intrigued by this model, but ATM the price makes the m10 better for me as you stated.

@Myrig - I know there is a whole other issue going on with you and offordscott, but let's keep the threads clean, maybe consider using the reputation board in the future.
2330  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M10 33.0 Th/s, 2145W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: February 01, 2019, 08:24:52 PM
Nice to see your units arrived Phil.

It's weird I have reached out to Pangolin a few times, and so far nothing in the way of answers or troubleshooting.

Either way between the 2 units I am on spec. I really can't complain to much. The nice thing is while I was gone there were to power outages in my area, both times the units fired back up when the power was restored.

Agreed minefarmbuy, that's what my conclusion was when I ordered these.
2331  Economy / Reputation / Re: Self-moderated topic-Users deleting posts without reason. What to do? on: January 24, 2019, 07:15:09 PM
Honestly you should just carry-on.

There are a ton of members who won't even post in a self moderated thread, regardless of how on-topic or well they could contribute.

If you feel that strongly about a warning to users, there is a 3rd option with feedback to use a neutral rating. Honestly its like people forget it exists.

Personally I'd just mosey on, and refrain from their topics.

Coolcryptovator- I think you mean to say, your opinion is he shouldn't leave a neg. Saying he can't is wrong because again trust is not moderated and anyone is free to tag how they see fit.

I do find it promising since the new system that people are taking a closer look at their vendetta tags or hurt feeling tags. Overall we may be heading towards a more uniform idea of what is negworthy.
2332  Other / Meta / Re: Happy birthday, the merit system! on: January 24, 2019, 02:08:23 PM
I can't say I was paying much attention to this anniversary.

Its been a nice improvement overall.  I agree one of the best side benefits i hadn't thought of before us how easily it tipped people off to alt accounts and account farmers, trying to game the system.

Ill never forget the day it took its first stood up from a crawl and wiped out an impressive amount if shitposters with the 1 merit requirement. Now if we could bump that up it would be great.
2333  Other / Meta / Re: Why was my post deleted? on: January 23, 2019, 07:12:39 PM
Because it doesn't matter.

It completely matters.

Whine whine whine, leave out details that are a clear reason, whine some more then act like everyone else is the problem

Get over it. The forum doesn't have to bend to what you think should be allowed. Either conform your posting style to fit within the very broad acceptable posting styles or just continue to advertise through other platforms.

Or here's a thought if it's the content you really care about leave out the advertisement portions.  But you won't.
2334  Other / Meta / Re: Why was my post deleted? on: January 23, 2019, 12:49:17 PM
With respect, I disagree with what you're saying and your characterisation of the matter.

The definition of 'low quality' is "of poor or inferior quality."

How is a 10+ paragraph post 'low quality'? The grammar and spelling is proper English (UK). It follows the correct structure of an essay. It's relevant to economics and the entirety of cryptocurrency.

Quantity does not necessarily mean quality.

I'm on mobile so hard to check, but is that a copy of the medium article that was posted above. If so i personally would have reported the thread as a copy of a medium article to spam a company advertisement.

If you want to avoid this in the future, i suggest not trying to reuse the same article, rewrite it so it is unique. A quality post doesn't need to follow essay format.
2335  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon Terminator 3 on: January 23, 2019, 12:27:50 AM
And here we are nearly late January. I haven't heard anything new.

, T15, m10 31T are best till the T3 is released. Which I think you have mostly covered in your mine.

@minefarmbuy snipped this from the other thread. Do you have a line on the T3 or were you going off the announcements they made previously? Just a curios mind at the moment trying to keep a handle on "the lay of the land" More to that as well I hummed and hawed between the three and settled on just upgrading to the m10. Happy so far even with the minor (hehe) issue.
2336  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 40TH/80TH new Miners??? Swiss Miner on: January 23, 2019, 12:22:17 AM
come on guys, that is obvious scam

I don't know the response below was pretty convincing, all caps, buy 200 miners.

I wonder the look on someones face arriving at that airport and not being picked up. Huh  Do I still get my travel refunded?

Or worse yet being picked up, then given the hard sell on anything of value you have or can access.

IF OUR HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE WORK IN THE WAY WHAT WE OFFER, BEING A MANS AND CLOUSE YOUR ACCOUNTS HERE.

For this Bizarro world.

Great strategy so far, but I'll keep my account intact, you go make millions off this hardware. Then feel free to come here and rub my nose in it.

Until then I'll go with "put up or shut up" - sick of all these fakebox hardware illusionists coming here and fighting to pass of their scams.
2337  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M10 33.0 Th/s, 2145W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: January 23, 2019, 12:12:38 AM
For my shipping issue at least Pangolin is in the clear. It was entirely a DHL boondoggle. They are who I communicated with for the Hold. The explanation was that their system for international deliveries for my location has them hand the package off to the 3rd party carrier right out of customs; and any request such as a H.A.L for the DHL facility doesn't register on the system until after the package scans in Canada.

Beyond that it's the local shipper that without authorization both times left the package without signature. The first delivery is why I wanted it held at DHL in the first place, once I realized delivery would be scheduled when I wasn't home.

The communication with Pangolin was easy and flawless as I had to contact them about payment, their countdown timer is super quick. I'm interested to see what they are able to come back with to help my current situation. I'm headed out of town for in a few days for the mountains, so I don't know how many fixes I'll be able to try. Either way they will both be in low power mode while I'm gone, so either I get a fix in before or I can take a crack at it when I get back.

Herb's would have definitely been an annoyance and out of pocket expense; and from what I gathered falls on Pangolin. I'm not sure what was wrong when it was placed originally or how it happened, but something must not have looked right to reach out to them right away. If the error was on their end right from the start I would have expected a full refund of shipping costs, but you take what you can get. And know I can add a tally to my known Canadians lol.
2338  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Ethical Dilemma] What would you do? on: January 22, 2019, 10:35:03 PM
Sorry if I missed this.

-Was there in fact a contract. If so was there any defining points regarding payment, that they may have ignored in making a lump sum payment: Was it lump sum? was there a breakdown  in portions relating to maintaining and creating. I ask as you mentioned the norm is to do something weekly.

- What does the legal jurisdiction the contractor lives in have to say. This would be more important than our opinions, I think anyways. I say this as criminals can still sue or have you charged with theft, depending on the country.

Personally, I would take my appropriate cut for the work that was performed. If this has not been stated clearly in the contract I would side with the contractor deciding what their time was worth. This should be done inline with what they would quote a new client requesting the same service at the time they agreed to this job. The rest I would refund. I say this mostly due to legal liability (if it exists for them), secondly it's still IMO taking what's not yours regardless of how shitty they may be.
2339  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying BTC for PayPal! on: January 22, 2019, 09:48:22 PM
You are going to find it tough with a new account to get the deal you want.

Fastest and easiest way for you to get your hands on BTC would be to register with an exchange.

Outside that you probably aren't going to get a 1:1 rate here. People will be wary of a new account trying to use PP, due to charge backs and things like that.

Depending on the country you live in there are options like Email Money Transfers. Using something like that and say a couple week escrow time frame to avoid a possible hacked bank account scenario would be one way of going about it.

check the profiles of people who are saying me scammer .secondly we can use escrow on localbitcoins

There's the red feedback and also the woke up recently from a long period of inactivity. Both things that should raise the level of caution for dealing with you. That's not to say you can't make a deal but don't try and shut down valid concerns. I would also suggest using a trusted forum escrow.
2340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M10 33.0 Th/s, 2145W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: January 22, 2019, 09:39:33 PM
I'd have to check, Pangolin handled all shipping details. I would be surprised if they didn't insure shipments considering everything they send is a high value package.

It was delivered by a 3rd party carrier as I'd be considered a rural community off the beaten delivery path. I specifically did not want them delivering this package if I wasn't going to be home (bad experience when they delivered my T9+). It was just annoying that they still processed the hand off to them. They said it was something to do with requests being submitted before it enter the country.

I'll see what Pangolin has to say on the matter. Either way it's still working, and it wouldn't hurt to get some troubleshooting guidelines from them to disseminate.
