1781  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Whats a reputable ESCROW user service here ? on: May 15, 2019, 05:43:11 AM
Here's a thread that's mostly up to date, it's where I link to. I've only used Og from this list, and it went well.

Well there may be a few more randoms coming in. The auction is now a "news" story.

1783  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Roller Coaster #2 on: May 15, 2019, 04:00:13 AM
Not going to lie I only have 1 alt I'm holding and the last few weeks have been awkward lol. Back to looking at the horizon, part of why I wouldn't mind if this ran a bit longer, hopium is a hell of a drug. Wink

Loving the catch on the typo, I've been slipping lately.
1784  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitdeer - Experiences? on: May 15, 2019, 03:35:16 AM
I can't say. I never did try out one of their contracts, despite the bonus offers they had previously. I would say those numbers only stay the same for a week maybe less unless the price takes a dive. Sometimes they wait out volatility before they up the prices. It's a sweet spot in buying hardware as well, I just rarely catch it.

Here's a discussion that went on in January where jackg gave there contract a go. Might help.

1785  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I'm against cloud miners. My arguments on: May 15, 2019, 03:17:16 AM
Cloud mining companies are a fairly poor investment most of the time. I briefly looked into a few and it left a bad taste in my mouth, and honestly seemed like a stupid option. People could either buy the coins and hold them, or even if home mining isn't an option buy hardware and host it. I personally don't see cloud mining as a good product, it's a service that really only benefits the provider. Even if things are good, you are just helping them pay off their gear with your money, hoping that you earn more coins than you paid - including maintenance fees.

Any cloud mining with a contract has the ability to leave you out of pocket, as soon as things turn unprofitable. Most flat out cancel the contractual obligation to mine without refund, and don't provide the option to mine at a loss - this should be your choice if you will cover the maintenance fee. On the other hand I've heard of the options where you can rent hash for small periods time when you think it could be particularly profitable, that can work for some but requires a lot of research and luck.

This is just covering the legit operations then there are the myriad of scam operations that take it all and run anyways.
1786  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Roller Coaster #2 on: May 14, 2019, 08:24:48 PM
At this point it's a loss all around, I believe we are down ~ 123 USD. still not the worst considering the Alts haven't had their chance to ride the wave yet. Maybe this last month is a mice shot in the arm.
1787  Other / Meta / Re: newbie jail on: May 14, 2019, 11:17:43 AM
When you describe it I don't see this as an unfriendly step. Let's consider it more like the tutorial level games used to have. This newbie jail could finally serve the purpose the "Welcome Letter" was going to, we could essentially force new members to learn the rules & etiquette of the forum. Maybe even prevent these early plagiarism choices people make then get sideswipped by years down the road (not excussing the plagiarism) . It might even encourage some of those that would have become generic shitposters to broaden their horizons to overcome this first challenge.
1788  Other / Meta / Re: [Updated May 11] LoyceV's Trust list viewer - Create your own Trust list! on: May 14, 2019, 08:11:08 AM
The most interesting thing I've seen was someone make a quick 180 on me, one week I was there the next not so much. Doesn't really bother me. I do hope no one really takes it personal when I do start trimming the list, no one really minded the exclusions so far.
1789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AMA (Ask Me Anything): The current state of Bitcoin in the Philippines 🇵🇭 on: May 14, 2019, 08:09:13 AM
Sorry to go off-topic but this is a question about the Phillipines in general. Is it common for people to have let's say peculiar names by Western Standards. Here's an example "Princess Mary" , my wife said Mary and the dad corrected her it's Princess Mary. I had  a good chuckle later on, as I'd never come across this before. We have a fairly large community here from the Phillipines, and I've heard a few other examples.
1790  Other / Meta / Re: Is this even allowed? on: May 14, 2019, 07:57:18 AM
Your not going to get negative for posting something like this. That being said this is a pointless thread, if you think they are spamming then use the "report to moderator". What they do with it will be your answer.

I don't see anything wrong. It's not a multipost, there are several posts in between. It's a post along the same idea as the first with more definition and likely in an effort to keep the discussion going with what had been posted in between.
1791  Other / Meta / Re: Reporter Statistics on: May 14, 2019, 06:09:10 AM
Been meaning to drop by and post an update of stats. I haven't been as active as I was for a while, and I've noticed an overall improvement on boards like Bitcoin Discussion. One thin gI've noticed is that not all moderators see issues the same way. So I try to remember when a report gets marked bad so I don't bother with those types on that board anymore. A feature that would be nice is the option to rescind a report within a few minuted if you realise a mistake.... which I just did. Sometimes having multiple windows open can cause me to report the wrong post on the wrong board, this optin would help me remove that bit of work from the queue.

1792  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos - Request: Multisig addresses for treasurers on: May 14, 2019, 05:22:00 AM
Learn something new everyday, I though this had already been established. I'm shocked it wasn't implemented after the issue with the treasurer Parodium paraipan passing away.

With the talk of pegging it to USD, doesn't theymos peg certain payments or rewards to Troy ounces of Gold?  Not that the forum is currently hurting for funds in any way.

Edit: Thanks LoyceV, now I'm one of those death hoax people  Tongue
1793  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion about the Merit System on Airdropped Merits. on: May 14, 2019, 04:38:32 AM
I like this idea a lot. It's been long enough now we don't need to see the initial drop of merit, it should be taken off all ranks. If we only show earned merit it would definitely show the difference between quality posting habits and accounts that have just been here.

I'm not sure what the original reason was for the airdropped merit unless it had something to do with the distribution of smerit, or if it was solely tied to what is needed to achieve that rank. Either way, unless it breaks the system for some reason would be a great move.
1794  Other / Meta / Re: Trust scores sould be shown in the Wallet child board of Development & Technical on: May 14, 2019, 04:21:29 AM
That's as good an argument as any for showing trust there. It would help any newbies who actually find the right place, but are still naive to how many scammers there are out there. This would also help the non members who are browsing with the implemented warnings on trust enabled sections. It's not a stretch to think of a non member finding these posts through a search the same as they could find the marketplace.

It is unfortunate, but there is some downtime between when moderators are on and active. This might also be an argument to have the Cryptios team on some sort of schedule to handle these luls, if they are predictable in any way.

I once thought it would be a good idea to be able to "Pin" your topic to follow another on the board, to combat locked self/moderated scam threads, possibly as a revocable privilege if used for trolling.. Might have been useful in these cases.
1795  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS - 2x Antminer S17-PRO 53TH/S with 2x APW9 on: May 14, 2019, 04:08:38 AM
I can vouch for Phil, not that it;s necessary. Helped save me and a few other Newbies in 2017. That being said there are other forum escrows, but it's sort of the expected flow of sales here on forum. A face to Face deal can also be done without Escrow, so best of luck finding someone, you may even make a Crypto friend. Just choose a safe location for both of you, I would say not at your home or mine at first.

Here is a thread I put together a while ago to help with your sale - Posting guidelines for Computer Hardware section

Mostly you may want to update the photo to show you have the gear in hand, with a handwritten note as mentioned in the thread.

1796  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Roller Coaster #2 on: May 13, 2019, 09:28:49 PM
Well I have an idea, why not throw a little twist into this rollercoaster. What if we extended it by 2 months - or whatever the group decides.

As mentioned we may be looking at a good couple of months for alts, as they tend to follow a BTC run. This could either help you find the desire to run a 3rd round or be the nail in the coffin for the amusement park, for now.

1797  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [CBC] Canadian Bitcoin Conversions - or whatever coin really on: May 11, 2019, 04:07:09 PM
Right I remember using them once, smooth process all around. Thanks for the refresher, I'm going to add both services to the OP for when people can't find someone to trade with.

OP is updated with:
"Quick Option Companies" -> Pretty sure for most people Shakepay has worked out in under 24 hours, it's just that damn occupation question on the verification that will mess with people with a job outside of the list.

"Current offers" - I will do my best to track the posts and add current offers to the OP.  Shouldn't be to hard  Tongue
