So the winner on June, 30 will be 5725$  Grin we'll just my guess/hope.
~snip~

I guess I was a tad premature, especially if things are just heating up. Good luck to everyone, and if it just keeps climbing at least we all win in one way or another.

On a completely unrelated note, I heard they were finaggling financing structures due to the recent Avengers earnings, and Q2 now officially ends May the 4th craziness.  Wink
1842  Other / Meta / Re: Do not allow locking of threads in Auction sub forum on: May 04, 2019, 09:06:59 AM
I never really considered this, as it's a  section that has been that way since I registered here. I might swing through there and experiment a little myself now that you've got me thinking about it.
I would say report the thread and see how it get's handled. Definitely give a good explanation of why, but your reasoning is on point. - How can someone bid in a locked auction.
I also think reporting any auction that doesn't have auction terms would be a good idea as well - End time, Starting Bid, Bid increment

It would be nice in the Marketplace if you couldn't toggle the "lock topic" option. This way once it's locked it fades into obscurity. I'm also not a fan of self-moderated topics in the Marketplace, sure some users have shown they can use this responsibly. Unfortunately it's generally a lazy attempt at a scam. I remember once discussing being able to pin your thread to another one, it's not a great idea but I though it would be an interesting way to counteract suspicious locked/self-moderated sales threads.

You have a logical point of view, but will this solution change anything? I do not think so. Some can bypass it by moving topics to that section or devising new ways of scam.
The solution that has been applied is an acceptable solution as there is a warning about *Possible scammer* shown to guests.
~snip~

Just because they will try to find another way doesn't mean we should give up on making it more difficult for scammers. If the Marketplace becomes a more transparent platform for sales they will want to move the scam threads elsewhere. That would take them off-topic for those boards and eligible to be dealt with by moderators.

~snip~
Locking a thread should be the counterpart to a bump.
Therefore, locking a thread shall let it plummet to the last page of the board.

~snip~

If applied only to the marketplace that would be an interesting idea. They would gain zero visibility by locking the topic on creation.
1843  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Pangolinminer.com a MicroBT distributor and seller of Hard Goods on: May 04, 2019, 08:31:57 AM
Hi Yang,

I thought I replied previously. Nice to see someone from Pangolin dropping in. You may want to let some of the sales reps know about this thread. They can drop in and announce sales or changes to the service agreement to help keep the forum informed.

I'm looking forward to my next order from Pangolin being shipped out.
1844  Other / Meta / Re: Standard forum sales rules/etiquette on: May 04, 2019, 02:57:23 AM
I see the discussion has carried on here. I had suggested previously to Scott about creating a Services thread as well to maintain for their general business, I'm glad to see it created. It's a good way for them to handle the generic questions and keep the 4Sale/WTB threads on-topic for the offerings. It could also act like a hub once they establish a name for themselves or promote it, linking it to all other offerings. You are definitely still entitled to create sales threads as well.

Glad to see the consensus being that threads be combined. I'm not sure that there is a need for a separate board though. There are only so many Algo's that have Asics, at the moment, the rest falls under GPU or CPU mining. My idea gave them 1 or 2 sales threads for offerings. The listing would be the OP, and the first 4+ replies to serve as grouping arrangement by Algo, linking each of them in the OP. These would be a revolving door of updates as needed for additions, sold, price or quantity changes. There is also the ability to post certain threads in the Altcoin mining section to further spread the word and threads around.

This would take more initial work and effort from Scott, but once crosslinked would be very easy to maintain and update.

Personally I find it weird now that I don't have to scroll to page 3 in the hardware section to read all new offerings. I just got used to it when I started, and up until recently the page hardly cycled completely every day. So unless we see a large number of Brokers enter the forum I think we can all play nice. There's just always going to be a learning curve as a new business enters.

Scott if you ever want feedback or just someone to bounce ideas off feel free to reach out. Good luck as always.
1845  Other / Meta / Re: Posting guidelines for Computer Hardware section on: May 04, 2019, 01:16:01 AM
I don't think you change the thread to self-moderated after you have created it. You need to make that choice at the beginning. In a sales thread I hate seeing them self-moderated, just my opinion. If you do go that route, I would suggest maintaining a log of deleted replies using the "code" function(#). It's just for transparency sake, as most self modded sales threads do so to delete legitimate questions or concerns.
1846  Other / Meta / Re: Posting guidelines for Computer Hardware section on: May 03, 2019, 03:00:03 PM
Hey thanks for reaching out here. Not going to lie I've been giving this some thought and was going to start a discussion around it this weekend when I had more time.

To be clear my stance is a separate post for each offering is essentially spam. You should be actively trying to find a way to group things together this will be better for everyone involved. I remember seeing several threads for L3+'s I think and the only difference really was the location they were. I'll take more time this weekend to explore your structure and site but here's my initial thoughts.

First you should make the thread in "Services" that I originally suggested to you some time back. This can have an OP explaining what you do, how you broker the sales, and how to use your website. Put whatever sales data you want in there but it would be a good anchor point for your business to maintain it's own thread. Use this as you will, you can fill it entirely with your offerings or links to the threads where they are for sale and your website.

Next you can at least try and group your items by algorithm. Whatever it is can be the thread title, and in the OP - which can be updated as much as you like you can change out the offerings. List and group them however you want there; I would go by make. This would be much more manageable for people to see than your current amount of listings. I don't think this will be a jumbled mess if you put the effort into organizing and editing the OP(and replies if needed) with your offerings, you just have to find a way to make it work.

Going further I would probably just do 1 thread, maybe 2. Create your OP and then reserve the next 4 replies, using these to group the gear you have for sale. The OP could link to each Algo, and it would be in 1 place that you could bump daily. You worry about your posts getting out of hand but it wouldn't be that bad as you aren't haggling through the site you are trying to direct them to your sales platform. It also wouldn't matter, regardless if it's the most active topic it only gets bumped to the top by posts or your own bump every 24 hours.

The thread would be active as long as you have items to sell, or choose to continue to do business; so no need to lock or let die until that time.

Sorry I assumed this was common knowledge. I tested the waters in one of their threads by referring to a discussion me and CH had and the reply was more than enough for me to conclude it was CH. I guess up until now it was just an assumption.

Now I'm not so sure though as theymos is known for his wild claims and knee jerk reactions  Roll Eyes

I might have to start veering into a few corners of the forum for a while, getting tired of well fed trolls and endless repetitive bickering.
1849  Other / Meta / Re: The ignore button @ theymos... on: May 02, 2019, 12:29:06 AM
^^
That's quite the leap. Distrusted/excluded is a loaded and misunderstood portion of the feedback system. It just means the feedback left by that person isn't trusted or considered useful.

If theymos really distrusted them you would see it in their feedback, and trust score. To round off your nonsense theymos considers suggestions from everyone, you never know when someone will have a stroke of genius.

Not going to lie TMAN you're likely SOL. There may be a solution though, you could use the test forum as like a rehab to ween you off your crippling troll addiction. It won't be easy but i think with enough booze and smoke you might just come out of this clean.

Yes we are sure. What you just posted is providing unregistered or logged out users some idea of how the content creator is seen by the community.

It's a little thing to help people outside the forum not get suckered into a scam.

Your feedback is lacking in a reference at the very least which makes it pretty much useless. Can you point to any specific cases of theymos taking advertising dollars for a scam, and him continuing to promote them once he was aware of this??

I have reviewed a significant amount of theymos's posts and I saw extreme care and diligence in projects he accepted and denied for advertising.

Or do you mean signatures?? This is again something unmoderated by the forum... until it affects the forum.
1852  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Two PSU 1600W. 3 avalon741? on: May 01, 2019, 03:28:32 PM
The point I was making wasn't at all about profitability; as they didn't ask about that. We provided them with the info they needed to make what they are using work. Normally at the end of reply I may have asked them why they are running old gear, but I reviewed their trust and saw they've owned one for more than a year which is more than enough time to figure out if it's worth it for them to run.

Overall I found your replies incomplete and confusing, with out trying to be helpful; so I don't get the point.

Even taking efficiency into account, I ran 4 741's up until about 3 weeks ago. This was because I had a unique situation that made sense.

Yeah I can't remember where maybe the discord Kano had mentioned if we got over 400 PH consistently the pool fees would drop. I think there is a good percentage of that 400 waiting for either the pool to grow close enough, or for another large player to show up before they come over.

Either way that combined with the fact that all block and miner rewards are shared with the pool should be enough to convince 1EH to mine here if they aren't mining solo. Low fees and total rewards being shared how can you go wrong Huh

sadly, 4 of my miners will be offline this week and I will be left with one T15 here until I can source some new miners, which hopefully will not be that long.

Damn that sucks. I'm down to 2 M10's right now because I forgot I needed a power cable before the garage season arrived. Oh well a few more days and it'll be back online.

What are you thinking of grabbing for gear?

A quick back of the napkin calculation of 1EH total pool hashrate gives me a full 5ND ramp of just 37.9 hours at current diff.  Shocked

I was just checking the same. Not to mention the other added benefits:

- Pool fees would drop to .5% once we get consistently over 400PH (I would think this is huge to a large miner)
- Still eligible to earn the BTC available from the giveaway in the pool OP
- They still earn from all the blocks found during their ramp up and subsequent ramp down if they left in the future.

We try to help people here with the questions they ask. There is tons of info for them to see and figure out if they want something more efficient.

Some people have unique situations where running older inefficient gear makes sense.
1856  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Two PSU 1600W. 3 avalon741? on: May 01, 2019, 02:00:29 PM
No that's not going to cut it. Baseline for 3 741's is 3300W maybe 3450W can't recall for sure.

Your 2 psu's would only be rated at 3200W combined. Even if you downclocked the miners you would be pushing max capacity on the PSU's. If you can I suggest picking up another PSU or you're asking for trouble.

Nope standard S17 56th unit, it appears bitmains auto-tune function is broken because my my first 2 hashboards are avg 18000gh each and board #3 is averaging 12000gh and I only have Normal and Low Power, no turbo.

Those sound like problems that might be solved with reflashing the FW, eait until you hear from Bitmain. That's assuming it's not in fact the board itself, have you checked the logs for anything that stands out? Has anyone looked to see if the units all arrived with the same FW? This is probably going to be step one for Bitmains troubleshooting; here's to hoping it's not a physical problem save some shipping and down time.

I think you are trying to run a nonsense raffle and by these non-sense raffles, you are spamming raffle section.
~snip~
If you have any collectible item then you may sell by raffle but this running raffle should not be fulfilled.
You are just wasting time.

Just because you don't like their idea doesn't mean it's nonsense. They are trying to build off an idea they had, and good for them. The fact that you are here saying this shouldn't be fulfilled or that they are spamming the what I assume you mean to be "Games and Rounds" is fairly ridiculous. This section is perfectly suited to this kind of event.

They may be wasting time but it's their time to waste, you chose to waste your time here. Now if you'd like to provide useful information to them about how LN fees make this a losing propostition to everyone go for it. That would be constructive and helpful to them.

I've never used LN so I have no idea about the actual fees involved. Good luck with your raffle OP, won't be participating for the obvious reason I just posted in regards to LN.
