2141  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: March 12, 2019, 06:53:00 PM
If the 921's firmware continues to be tweaked/tuned, the power consumption of the 7nm A3206 chips could probably be cut down, making this miner profitable.

They may continue to improve the efficiency through the firmware upgrades. It just won't be enough to really matter unless you already own them and are borderline shutting them down.

They are going to hit a wall eventually, just not sure where they stop. I would think to really compete again they'll need a new chip design.

No rush on those stamps, just keep me in the loop when they might get here and you can fire them out when things settle down a bit.

MJ
I'll get back to you this evening with address and txid for that shipping.
2143  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What is this around the ethernet port? on: March 12, 2019, 04:12:36 PM
Are these from the sea air facility? If i remember you were about 10 km in from the coast.

It could just be that it is catching up with the rest of the miner the same way your fans and grills took a beating before. You'll notice it starts at the corners seams and worked parts of metal. Also any scratches or minor imperfections will be a spot for the corrosion to start.
2144  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon Terminator 3 on: March 12, 2019, 04:25:41 AM
Just wanted to update that I did receive the T3 miners today.  Doing over 41 th/s in efficiency mode, not sure the power consumption; still autotuning.  Each miner was $240 for import/customs fees, shipped DHL.

That's great you got one. I went back over your other post, so you would be a Batch 1 order I believe. That's pretty rough, what were they 5 weeks late, I can't remember exactly when they were supposed to arrive. Did they ever respond to you back in February when you were following up?

Like Phil said it would be great if you could upload a few photos, and screen caps. This would be the first one confirmed out in the wild I believe, and I'll update the competitive hardware thread.
2145  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The winter mining setup on: March 12, 2019, 04:13:26 AM
Cool setup, but did you actually see any change in the internal temperature of the house from the miners ?

Tons actually. I have been essentially pumping ~8 kw of heat into my basement directly in the path of air recirculation. It's funny you asked this today as I had planned a little update. We've rolled into some very warm early March temps of about -2C highs in the day. Without the furnace kicking on my house was pushing 23C, that's with the furnace S/P at around 18C.

Needless to say I had to back off the M10's a little, I started with low power mode on both units but was able to put the underperformer back up to normal power mode.

I am hoping it cools off a little though, but it is nice to know that so early into the spring season I am already taking my furnace right out of the equation, and still getting ~80TH from what's in the house.
2146  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] (ends today) Over 30 lots of silver bitcoin coins on: March 12, 2019, 12:28:50 AM
Excellent glad to hear it. In hand is good enough for me, I'll be adjusting my feedback to neutral. Hopefully things sort out for killyou IRL and we can deal in the future under better circumstances.

I'm on mobile and will take care of the feedback this evening.
2147  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M10 33.0 Th/s, 2145W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: March 11, 2019, 07:09:13 PM
Yeah it was weird I really just stumbled upon the price drop updating the competitive hardware thread, then thought I might as well try the coupon code. Best thing about it is they just sent me my tracking info.

I was happy with how they handled the RMA for you Phil. Any company that works with you to troubleshoot and is willing to send out parts if you are comfortable making the repair is Grade A in my books
2148  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royal family exposed, an alternate reality on: March 11, 2019, 07:27:20 AM
Well I am glad to see that some have enjoyed this little tale. Who knows I may have to write another one the next time I find myself plugging away on a weekend.

Meh, in reality the queen is my half sister. I am the bastard son and was actually born before the queen, so I believe that she stole my birthrite. I've been wading in the sewers since birth. This is why I cried out that I am unappreciated. To make matters worse, one of the evil king's minions chastised me for not being generous enough. Much to my chagrin, since I'm giving them out as fast as I get them.

Oooh  may have to work you into the next one. Starving the poor Sp's of attention while hoarding all the riches in your large sack.

Sheetepoewst
I'll need to find a way to use this in casual conversations.

If anyone can do it, or will have the opportunity I believe the Queen will manage. Bonus points if you do it in sets of 4.

OP, tread carefully--you are risking a massive amount of trolling by those who would take you seriously.  There's already the notion that there's a huge conspiracy among the DT members/merit sources/whatnot, and this will only fuel such delusions.

Also, that other thread got locked, but as far as suchmoon giving out 4 merits per shot: that sounds reasonable, and I wish I always had enough merits to do that every time I gave some out.  As it stands, I usually hand out only 2 merits per good post which is enough for the recipient to have one whole sMerit to give.  I try not to give out odd numbers of merits for that reason, not that it matters a whole lot.

Now that I have a new computer and am back behind an actual screen and can read more easily, I should be able to search for good posts again.  It's tough to do that on a crappy phone with a tiny-ass screen.  Yay for Dell.

I believe many of the trolls think this is an actual transcript of the events. It is, you know , the texts and all. They do also risk being written into further adventures, wonder if that should have been a warning/local rule.  I wonder if The Pharmacist will become The Alchemist, perhaps something more interesting.
2149  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 841 OpenWrt CGMiner multi-pool setup and usage on: March 11, 2019, 02:08:43 AM
Okay having read that it makes more sense what the question is. I guess for me I would just make switch over day a Wednesday and do it when I got to the office, repeat on Thursday. That's again because all the command stuff goes right over my head for the most part.

OP how often are you hoping to receive some mining rewards, small or otherwise?
2150  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 841 OpenWrt CGMiner multi-pool setup and usage on: March 11, 2019, 01:52:13 AM
Not going to lie most of what your saying is over my head, so maybe I'm missing the end goal here.

The idea behind the other pools is for them to work like a backup in case you lose connection with your preferred pool. This way you continue mining happily. If your concern is losing all previous data, can't you just copy the logs prior to making the changes to switch between pools? On that note, you seem fairly proficient could you not find a way to automatically pull and save the logged data, then you don't have to worry.
2151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: March 11, 2019, 01:29:48 AM
And the only reason I didn’t do a 30 amp breaker is because the power supply says 25 amp max and if for some reason it goes above the max, the breaker wouldn’t trip and could cause damage to the unit. Otherwise I would have done a 30 amp circuit. ~snip~
Should I decide to add another miner which when I purchased mine it was listed as $850usd, I will add the 30 amp circuit and dual recep since I just did a single 250v outlet for this one.

Yeah your first install made perfect sense, I just meant if/when you expand to look into the 30 amp circuit and PDU option. This way you can save on the costs of additional receptacles and order uniform power cables. I grabbed a couple when I first began thinking of maxing out my extra power. They've both been full for about a year now, and all I've had to do is change out the miners.  The nice thing is you can just keep adding the miners until you've maxed them out, most "30A" PDU's are load rated to 24 Amps to not exceed the 80% continuous load.

I haven’t worked with one of those yet, so I’m guessing that’s why you need a 30 amp circuit to be able to run that thing? One miner pulls about 9.3 amps so unless the PDU makes it so you don’t need to upgrade the circuit, it would pop after adding more than three to the PDU.

Yeah that's the idea behind the PDU, you use 1 receptacle and it then adds it's own protection between the circuits and your machines. You do need to pay attention to how the load is distributed between the outlets on the PDU. Pretty sure Phil pointed you to some solid units, he's who I checked with before my purchases. In full power mode you would actually only be able to run 2 of the M10's but could run more in efficiency mode, for when things heat up a little.

I’m happy with the returns on the miner and will probably add another in a month or two being that another more efficient model doesn’t arrive which I think bitmain is currently working on.

They actually already have a more efficient model. Check here. Current List of Competitive Hardware - March 2019.

How would I merge posts if you don’t mind me asking?

Looks like the Mods took care of it for you. Here is a topic I created a while back to get the hang of inserting quotes and formatting posts. Feel free to drop any further questions there so we don't go off-topic here.
2152  Other / Meta / Re: Excuse me if this has been discussed before... why does the forum never change? on: March 10, 2019, 10:55:35 AM
You may want to check the Child Board "New Forum Software"

It's a project that has been ongoing since long before I got here. It does appear to have been gaining traction. There isn't a release date slated right now, but people have been testing it out.
2153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Current List of Competitive Hardware - March 2019 on: March 10, 2019, 10:42:26 AM
I've gone through and updated all the current hardware listings. This was to account for any changes in Price, MOQ, Specs of the unit.

I am also considering removing Halong Mining as I believe they are out of business and will no longer be producing hardware.

Let me know if I missed anything.

Edit: I messed up, I was planning on logging the before and after as I made a lot of updates. I'll try and do that in the future in case anyone wants to compare.

**Steamtyme stops briefly to look around the room, wondering who is the jester...  Then merrily skips away**
They do say if you can't find the [Insert Label] in the room.

This is all the fault of the Dark Witch cryptohunter, who has been sowing the seeds of discord throughout the kingdom for many an age. Plus she turned me into a vixen. Embarrassed

There are many colorful characters in this realm; some witches have been known to go by many names and faces. I hear tell the Evil king had been training others in the Dark Ways of Populus Control, the tales say she smites peasants in such great swaths Shiva herself would cower. The Sp's tell their brothers and mothers and cousins sisters wives these tales to instill fear and secrecy into their ranks, in an attempt to hide among the crowds.

The tale of the Vulpine Vixen, should be told. Might have to introduce the Vulpine order to save the day. Not sure if Sir JC would accept a title though.
2155  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M10 33.0 Th/s, 2145W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: March 10, 2019, 10:04:02 AM
Well that was the quickest decision I've ever made pretty sure this is a recent price drop by Pangolin. Just ordered my 3rd M10 31TH. This was a no brainer as described below, considering teh risk for me is to high on the 15 series from Bitmain. This bad boy won't be making it into the house though, straight to the garage, I'll have to take my 841 offline.

Right now on Pangolin they are listed for 785 USD, I was able to use the 51$ coupon as well so that brought it down to 734 USD, plus shipping.
2156  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30-400PH] KanoPool kano.is 0.9%fee 3.9of10BTC giveaway 🐈 US,NL,JP,NYA,OR,DE,SG on: March 10, 2019, 07:41:32 AM
I think I actually caught it on the discord channel, Kano posted about it. Easy to see why you were confused.

Just keep plugging away and you'll get fully ramped up. You N average should keep climbing though, as long as you keep your miners pointed here. The reward will fluctuate with the pool size which has been a bit of a rollercoaster lately.
2157  Economy / Reputation / Royal family exposed, an alternate reality on: March 10, 2019, 06:58:36 AM
There may indeed be some fact to the first 3 members of the Royal Family controlling our realm. It was discovered in the texts late this evening. The Blue Queen accepted her title to be true, and confirmed the existence of her Evil King. Not to be left out the consort appeared, seeking pity and an opening.

For now I await the final piece of evidence that this is indeed a royal family, proof they are all 3 cousins by blood. For now enjoy the tail of The Haystack in the sewer.

This tale that ends with a Queen dethroned and cursed to wade through waste in dim glow of a sewer searching for the Needles. Leaving the mark of "4" at every turn that she thinks brings her one step closer. Sitting atop a throne built on secrets and dark powers the Evil King gazes at his triumph over the Queen who betrayed him. Awaiting the next command the Consort enjoys the comfort of the upper chambers, drinking in the succesful manipulation of the kingdom.

How we got there from the joyous realm of idealism the cousins once enjoyed. Frolicking among the peasants they had liberated from the trollbanks to the north, and douchefellers to the west. Unfortunately the good times came to an end, no one really noticed the first wave of the Sheetepoewst traders setting up markets, but eventually they were everywhere. The realm started to suffer and divisions formed fast and firm. The consort was no longer sitting idly by waiting for a call from whichever cousin was in need that night. It was time for a move, after casually slipping thoughts to the king he began to suspect it was the Queen who bought the SP's to the realm, and had her locked away.

Fast forward a few months and the King's mind has now been deeply poisoned by the Consort, and can only focus on dealing with the Queens rebellion of SP's. At the urging of the Nobility a final solution was enacted, the Sp's had grown so great in numbers they were everywhere. So the king had a roof built over there heads, where one must have been deemed worthy through a single act to be free. In his ravings he sentenced the Queen to spend out her days forever seeking those that would have been worthy. This became difficult once the nobility became disgusted with the stench of the New sewers and had it filled with hay.

Had a pretty good laugh in the thread before it got locked up so I thought I'd leave everyone with a fairytale.
2158  Other / Meta / Re: The merit queen Suchmoon, lucky number is “4” on: March 10, 2019, 05:02:25 AM
I think it goes back to theymos encouraging merit sources to try and exhaust their merit allocation. This included sending a larger amount than 1 to posts, if they were having trouble finding enough posts to merit.

I believe Suchmoon is a source and a steady earner, so they have quite a bit to go around.
2159  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: New buildout with buysolar has entered stage 2. on: March 10, 2019, 02:09:30 AM
Glad to hear you are at full hashrate, overall really quick service for the warranty parts. What would it have been 14 days total from the time you created the ticket to the time the replacement part arrived?
2160  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: March 09, 2019, 09:54:40 PM
Glad you're happy with the miner. I've been running 2 of them for about a month and a half, couldn't be happier. Considering grabbing a couple more before the end of the month.

Also just in case for installs in the future you may want to install 30 amp circuits and grab a PDU in case you grab a second miner. Then there's no need to upgrade the circuit.

Good luck with the mining.

Just a side note on forum rules, you should merge your two posts into one, or it's considered multiposting.

Edit: I did grab another one and it appears there has been a price drop - Listed at 785 USD.
