2281  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [240 PH][BTC PPS 100%][0% FEE][EN/CN/RU] Sigmapool.com on: February 16, 2019, 04:52:04 PM
With 20th I did not make what I can in 12 hours  with other pools.

I would say 12 hours is to small a sample though, depending on the miner it could have been 1/2 hour of startup connections and miner configuration. Also hard numbers as mentioned do help.

For curiosity sake I paroused their site, I  couldn't find an expected earnings calculator anywhere. It's been a long time since I mined PPS, but that was always available when I did.

I didn't sign up for an account to look deeper; was there any explanation of how much approximately per TH/24 hours?
2282  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 - not registering on pool on: February 16, 2019, 04:40:34 PM
That's weird. You must be mining somewhere if you are seeing the 7TH at the controller, they don't just idle along hashing to themselves.

Can you post a screenshot if your status page. That will show us where you are pointed. You might also want to double check the pool you are mining to maybe the problem is a worker name or something. Not sure if some of the pool settings would reset when you shut things off.

Edit: did you restart the controller as well when you shut everything down or just the miner?
2283  Other / Meta / Re: Stuff the mining boards on: February 15, 2019, 02:03:09 PM

Wow you work fast. Well done.

Jet the urban mining sounds great. I love the offshoots and different ways people can/do make use of the materials around them. I've met talked to a few people i know of that had tossed away a laptop that had btc on it. If you do get a mining board going on one of your projects i'll stop in to contribute what I can.
2284  Economy / Reputation / Re: So.... on which board did you earn most of your Merit? on: February 15, 2019, 01:07:17 PM
sorry what's the diff between self-made legend and some-board-made legend?
the spread of boards where merits earned?

There's no difference. Just a bit of fun.
Pretty sure it started with a joking comment I made a few posts back about Loyce and the merit the fact that they had been awarded more than 1000 merit on meta.
2285  Other / Meta / Re: Stuff the mining boards on: February 15, 2019, 12:58:23 PM
Hey Jet. Not going to lie I definitely knew this thread was coming.  First glad you had enough time with the thread to get the info you needed.

I was surprised that the thread was outright deleted, as opposed to just locked. Overall the thread had served it's purpose and would have made a good thread to reference in the future when similar threads come up. Had this thread just been locked the information within about cheap options would have been fairly current for this year anyways.

While i agree not every thread needs to be preserved this one did have information that was useful to a certain group, namely legitimate hobby miners.

Loyce- if it helps Jet gave me 2 merit for a post in that thread. I don't know anything about how often forum information is captured, but the thread may have only been live 12 hours. The title would have been along the lines of "free hardware"

Edit: Below is one of my responses to JetCash if it helps. I pulled it from my drafts

That's  understandable, I do recall this was always more of an informative curiosity for you.

Depending on the level of circuit diagrams or what you really want to know there may be some useful members here. I'll do some reading and fire you out a list of members here who may know or be able to discuss that with you further. In the mean time you may want to consider another attempt at creating a thread in Mining speculation, I only suggest it as you have returned to the board since the last time. Just state that this is to discuss the circuitry of miners themselves. Might actually be an interesting topic to read as I've seen members with a great deal of knowledge drop snipits here and there.

2286  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Unofficial Quadriga Cx Thread on: February 14, 2019, 06:16:45 PM
Was Ernst and Young really supposed to take custody of the cryptocurrency wallets? A law firm holding bank accounts in trust/escrow is one thing. Holding bitcoin wallets is another.
Those were the hot wallet coins, so given that the site is indefinitely shut down and no customers will be withdrawing anytime soon, it made sense to move them to cold storage. Cold storage that could actually be accessed, that is. Roll Eyes

Yeah I'm not sure on the specifics of it all. I personally would have expected all control of known private keys/passwords, for any wallet associated to Quadriga to have been handed over. I don't see it as any different than bank accounts or physical assets. I assume that Ernst and Young had been selected for this role hopefully to having a high level of understanding of the crypto world in general. So no one from Quadriga should have had the opportunity or the means to move any coins around.

Who knows though assumptions do have a way of failing me at times.

On a sidenote Gofundme was made for the guy

Hopefully this isn't the next gofundme scam... man I'm getting cynical.
2287  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Any experts with Canaan Avalon miners? Need help please on: February 14, 2019, 03:27:27 PM
Simple answer is:

1) Each miner needs a PSU for that miner.

2) To achieve your goal of 100 TH, you would need a minimum of 1 controller - these run up to 20 Avalon Miners.

That 1 controller will only require 1 Ethernet connection so you likely won't need to upgrade your router or anything of the sort.

I've only ever dealt with Blokforge, but you can also check out cryptouniverse for Avalon products I believe they are also offering discounted miners. As for looking for other Miners in Australia, you can try out the Marketplace section -> Goods -> Computer Hardware.
2288  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Testing a 220VA Wall Socket? on: February 14, 2019, 03:14:25 PM
Haggs is correct on all accounts. You may have noticed under his Avatar the words "Electrical Engineer". People enjoy helping here, so try not to gt annoyed or lose your patience as we become less likely to continue engaging.

I live in an apartment. With no access to the breaker box. So if I want to mine with an Antminer S15, I have two options:

You forgot the very reasonable 3rd option. Buy a Miner without an integrated PSU. You have to buy gear appropriate for your situation, in this case I would suggest buying something like an S9, or an Avalon 841. I know the Avalon has settings to improve efficiency and pull less power, and I believe there is firmware for the S9 to achieve the same results. In any case I'm going to assume your electricity costs are part of rent, and that efficiency isn't your concern.

If you go that route you can use any PSU that runs on 110V, utilizing the other available circuits in the apartment. Getting to the apartment a little more, most of the ones I lived in prior had a sub panel tucked in the closet or a kitchen cabinet. Are you sure there isn't a little 60 or 100 amp panel hiding somewhere? IS it a problem to ask your landlord to figure out what you have for circuits in the home? I mean how many 110 and what size (as some home circuits do have 20 amp breakers on 110).

Technically its not impossible to "share" the circuit, but everytime you turn on and off the stove you are likely going to damage the PSU on the miner, so don't. Perhaps take apart the socket and put a small sub breaker in there. It could be useful if that circuit is, say, 50a rated and your stove only needs 20a or so.

I'm going to advise against this. Just placing a breaker inline hidden/jammed in the socket is just a wiring mishap waiting to go wrong.
2289  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Testing a 220VA Wall Socket? on: February 14, 2019, 03:34:09 AM
Not going to lie this just sounds like a bad plan.

There is really no way to find out your breaker size, without testing it for a trip. This is not ideal as it's a safety not a toy.

So unless you know for sure that everything was installed strictly to code, and you know the local electrical standards, there is no way to be certain. Not likely but they could put a 15 amp breaker there or a 100 amp breaker, one would trip all the time being undersized and the other wouldn't provide any protection.

Perhaps you could explain your situation and what's available and we could toss you some ideas.
2290  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto Exchange Sent $370K (Bitcoin) to Dead Owner on: February 13, 2019, 10:15:26 PM
Here is a Quadriga thread where it has been discussed and is updated with factual reports.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=984498.msg49729233#msg49729233

An crypto exchange sent out huge amount $370,000 in btc to dead owner, what do you think ?
You mean they sent it to a cold wallet apparently. Which is supposed to mean it is another one of these cold storage wallets that they apparently couldn't find.

this is good for Bitcoin.

How could it not be ? What a shit question. This will obviously have a negative impact on new users thinking about entering the market. It won't hurt as much as Mt. Gox though, it's just hard for people to embrace something when they hear the horror stories they can relate to. Bitcoin itself doesn't really care, I called it.

Exchange owner will send again money to real owner? Or exchange users lost money forever!

All of Quadriga's accounts and potential wallets are supposed to be in the hands of a court appointed "Monitor". So whatever is found, after legal fees, would be distributed to the Quadriga customers. This will in all likelihood be pennies on the dollar.
2291  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Unofficial Quadriga Cx Thread on: February 13, 2019, 10:03:44 PM
I'm still confused how they had access to or the chance to transfer any BTC at that time.

Was the 5th not the date they were to hand everything over??

It looks more and more like a Mickey Mouse operation every time. What did they have passwords saved on their company laptop, with form filled address data... oopsie I slipped and punched in 103 and "enter". I can't think of any valid reason they should have been moving funds anyways, operations ceased what 10 days prior... well longer with the website down.

In regards to Mr. Zou.

Who the fuck waits 4 months to begin demanding your cash?? I had a withdrawal get delayed in November, got on there case and it showed up a few days later. My December withdrawal I quashed and re bought BTC as I needed it for a purchase. This was when I got lucky, even though it was about 250$ I'd have hated to lose it. That one I chalked up to Christmas delays. If I were this guy there would have been lawyers involved within on the 15th business day. This would have at least happened before the CEO died.

Hopefully he at least gets some back, just a shitty way to learn that lesson.
2292  Other / Meta / Re: Black screen when loading forum pages in chrome. on: February 13, 2019, 09:46:51 PM
I've had this happen a couple times the last few days.

Best thing to try is wait a second once the black screen comes up then try scrolling down. Once I did that the page displayed properly. Prior to that I shut it down and restarted, closed all apps, went from wifi to network and back.

Who knows may have just been lucky with the scrolling things but I haven't had a black screen to try again.

2294  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos where is your merit sources? on: February 11, 2019, 01:29:39 PM
Theymos prefers Merit sources to empty their source. He said (and I'm not going to find back the quote): if you find only a few posts worth meriting in a month, give them everything so they can redistribute sMerit again. I personally wouldn't do that, as dumping 50 Merit on a Newbie's post doesn't seem right to me.
Well I don't think there are many posts that ever should have received 50. I do remember reading theymos's view that he would like to see the allocations spent. I disagree with emptying the sac for the sake of emptying it. If this is done it would always seem that we need more merit, as opposed to finding a happy balance.

2295  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos where is your merit sources? on: February 11, 2019, 11:19:39 AM
Currently we have 122 merit sources. So usually top 50 Most generous recent merit senders should be from this 122 merit source

Not all merit sources have the same amount. It may be a reasonable conclusion that at times there will be non merit sources on that list. This is especially true if say a user has earned a large amount of merit recently or over time and had not distributed it. If they then set it all or most of it loose in a 30 day period they could easily crack the list.

Quote
At least merit source shouldn't decay his smerit allocations. They have spend few time on this forum for spend their smerit and it's their responsibility.

First it's not really their responsibility. It's a volunteer/thrust upon position that has little to no reward for that member. Their performance in that function is up to theymos to evaluate and act upon. Could you imagine how devalued receiving a merit would be if all these users felt compelled to go out and distribute all of their allocation each 30 day cylce, that'd be brutal.

In all honesty, when it happens the odd time maybe just make note of it, or bring it up in the Merit thread as it is. I don't think we need a new thread for each little nuance of merit/merit sources.

But as far as I know there 2 user is non merit source, S_Therapist & Coolcryptovator. Both users isn't merit source.

Had to have a chuckle at the 3rd person. Steamtyme was amused.
2296  Economy / Reputation / Re: So.... on which board did you earn most of your Merit? on: February 11, 2019, 09:37:53 AM
Thank you kindly, definitely interesting to see it all laid out there.

Just looked closer at yours and had to laugh that you could add a subrank "Meta Legendary" under "Self made legendary". Of course this would only be for formal introductions where titles are involved, you know for like the queen and stuff. Grin
2297  Economy / Reputation / Re: So.... on which board did you earn most of your Merit? on: February 11, 2019, 06:19:32 AM
I'd like to take a look. I know I had a pretty good spread of boards I had been merited on just not positive which have received the most.

Thanks

Yeah I do think this brand new company needs to send gear to one of these very not anonymous people at all. It's a great way to get information about the product out to people (on this forum) that believe it or not spend anywhere from 0-300 000$+ on gear.

Another point is Phil's terms are very transparent and fair to all companies he's worked with. If he likes the gear he pays for it, if not he ships it back. Either way a fair and honest review is given.

Given that your brand new account had an easy time finding this thread for your first posts, maybe you know/represent these miracle workers. Care to shed any real facts to help refute the "scam" tag this currently has.

Understandable that he didn't want to put any holes in the wall. I hadn't realized it was probably built as an existing electrical room originally.

Yeah I'm still stuck in winter mode and heat conservation  - hard mindset to break with a steady low of -30C lately.

I was wondering what does the overall build have for air intake besides the warehouse doors opening and closing? Probably wouldn't take much to maintain ambient if you have enough exhausts, likely even get away with no fans and natural circulation if you do use the high hats for removal.
