They are always going to be a very important country economically in the whole world. We all know that the big countries all around the world are always buying oil from them. And previously that’s why they have always been very important economically. But now as they have made the country open to visit for people all around the world, they are also earning money in that way.

Crude oil consumption has reached a peak and now the exports from Saudi Arabia are declining. The prices are struggling in the $80-$90 per barrel range, and this is despite all the production cuts being implemented by the OPEC+. Saudis are more intelligent when compared to some of their neighboring states. They don't have any other natural resources apart from oil, and they know that they will be in trouble once the EVs replace gasoline and diesel driven vehicles. But then the question arises. Can this big spending on cricket be justified? Without the Indian players, I don't know how they are going to make any sort of profits.

Honestly, I don’t think this much money being spent on cricket is actually justifiable when Indian players are not playing in the tournament. We know that Indian players are the ones who bring the most amount of revenue for cricket right now. So it is probably not the best idea to exclude Indian players from a tournament where a lot of money like this is going to be spent.

I am quite sure that the players who will actually go oppose the order of BCCI and try to play in these types of leagues, will not have any chance to play for India, or even in the IPL. I absolutely understand why, India thinks of doing that. But on the other hand, the player pool of India is really big. The players who are currently not actively playing in any Indian tournament, namely, IPL, or the national team, should be given a chance to play in other leagues in my opinion. But that also raises the question that probably the leagues are not interested in them actually.

Saudi Arabia and India have have good relation, maybe the Saudi government will want to exploit that opportunity and India will also carefully calculate their gains or losses. But as Saudi Arabia is very strong economically, they will try to dominate to some extent. I believe India will not try to hindrance to their league rather if it possible they will help them. Personally, I actually believe that there will be some problems for Saudi Arabia because they themselves don’t have the best players to attract spectators. And that would mean a large number of foreign players in each team. I think there is not going to be any restriction on the number of foreign players on the team. I believe it is going to be probably even 11 players, 11 foreign players in one team.

Anyway, even though I know that the relation between India and Saudi Arabia is currently good, I don’t think BCCI is actually going to help Saudi Arabia with anything when it comes to this Saudi cricket league. But another thing that can happen is, when it is the season of the Saudi cricket league, India will help them, and when it is time for the IPL, Saudi Arabia will also help India. Though I am not sure how that is going to work out.

This is actually a very good step towards saving the environment. I think this is certainly a good and genuine thought. At least they are not like Apple (remember them saying that they are removing the charger from the box for saving the environment and when they launched the new phone with slim box they celebrated the launch day with fireworks)  .

The step taken by IPL is certainly not going to have the biggest impact on the environment. But it is going to have an impact.

The problem is that the market for cricket is already saturated. IPL takes away 3 months every year from the calendar and then there are bilateral tours by the Indian team and the ICC tournaments. There is simply not enough spare time available to accommodate the Saudi league. And the BCCI is not that stupid to allow the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation to take control of the Indian market. It will negatively impact the popularity of the IPL, and in turn the BCCI revenues will nosedive. So in all probability, the Saudis are going to pour tons of money in to the new league and they are not going to get anything in return.

@Sithara007 while I definitely agree with you on almost all the points, but I do have a different opinion on this because for starter’s BCCI could send their reserve squad of player’s to get some experience and then these player’s would fetch higher price during the IPL auction.

Secondly BCCI would command higher revenue share for sharing their player’s, hence they’ll always get additional revenue from this and honestly I don’t think that any league can impact IPL popularity thus BCCI maybe tempted to make additional money as and when this league begins.

They know that it will be impossible to get returns of even half of that amount. What they want is publicity and acceptance among the global community. In reality this is going to be not good idea for the Saudi's because schedule and BCCI both are the biggest concerns for them and things are not going into positive way from the start which is also big problem even we will have some favour from PCB, BCB and SLCB but still it's going to be not ideal situation for this league because they can't achieve their targeted results with these countries while we have 75% Indian hold on this market even in Gulf, USA and European Indians will be not interested in case if we have this league without Indian intention.

They are late in this which is the biggest problem and with this right now we have not strong market like soccer which helps them in near future as well now they need to work on their domestic system and try to have better things which can help them for long run even this is also not ideal for them because of their geo problems.

Take India out of the equation, and cricket cease to be one of the top-10 sports in terms of revenue generation. I am not sure how much money the Saudis are planning to splurge. If the amounts are quite large, then they maybe able to convince some of the top Indian cricketers (who are close to retirement) to sign up for them. I am talking about players such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan. But then remember that these players are already receiving $1.0 to $1.5 million per year from the IPL. In order to lure them, they need to spend 3-4 times this amount (similar to how they got Cristiano Ronaldo playing in Saudi Arabia).

India has emerged as one of top global economy in recent years. Still I don't think it will be a good idea for India to annoy one of there finest business partner aka MBS. Even India doesn't joined this party then there are plenty more options for Saudi to choose from.
I was reading on NDTV that Saudis want IPL owners to set up richest league in Saudi. That's MBS way of involving IPL management into Saudi league.
