Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Which proposes? PoW? I think it stopped to be an example of "fair distribution" a few years ago...

I don't think Tony is ignoring your feedback. If he is smart, he is noting the relevant points.

HI everyone,

I have searched to see if there is some helpful info on setting up and backing up wallets, but can't find any videos etc.  On the wiki it says

Restore from full backup: Note this will permanently delete all your existing wallets and replace them with whatever is in your backup file. If you created this backup on another device, you should have stopped using the original device wallet immediately after creating the backup. Never clone wallets. If you must access from several devices, use multisig.

While I think I understand what this means it is far from clear.  MY understanding is that the safest way to secure your android wallet is to set up "full backup mode"

IF you need to restore your wallet what are the steps??

WHat does it mean if you create backup on another device stop using original device after backup?

Some tutorials with visuals would be really helpful if the goal is to grow the community.  I saw on another thread that businesses in Milan and Kyoto are testing, but getting store customers on board will be difficult until we have more KISS (keep it simple, stupid) tutorials and examples.    I think this will be key to building traction and more users and reducing barriers to entry.

On the thumb drive you used to make your backup?
Or on the paper you used to write it down when you installed your wallet.
Or in the recycle bin.

The location where the wallet is store is the same folder when the seed is located.   So, if the folder is gone, then so is the seed.
Good thing you have backups, right?

From reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/ByteBall/comments/7hxlxz/byteball_developers_take_heed/
Quote from: 1homie
It is not enough to have good tech to be successful. You need to:

Important point: Brand yourself as the scalable, no blockchain cryptocurrency. This is what you need to push! On your website the first thing you see is a heading that says "Why use Byteball?" and you do not even mention this! You mention lots of things that are WAY less important than scalability. Only on the very bottom of your web page, as a side note, do you mention "Unbounded scalability, fast confirmations, no miners, no blocks, low fees" <--- This should be the first thing visitors see when they open your website. This is so important. This is more important than all the other points I mention combined...

    • Change the name. Byteball, Gbytes, this does not appeal to people and scares your average person away.
    • Marketing, do it!
    • Get a bigger team, include business people
    • Do not have both blackbytes and regular Gbytes. If I buy Gbytes I still don't have blackbytes, so what good is it to me? Basically you are seperating your tech into two different coins. This is confusing, and it messes with investors, because being invested in one does not mean you are invested in the other. Pick one, and stick to it.
    • Your chatbot way of dealing with things is not a preferred method. It seems messy and inconvenient. Stick to a normal, simple wallet.
    • Forget these "cashback" programs you have, it makes you seem less serious.
    • Get your coin listed on as many exchanges as possible
    Sincerely, Frustrated Byteball owner
Obviously that bit about eliminating blackbytes isn't possible, but many good points. Tony doesn't need to do all this he just needs to delegate more to people that will.

Will it be possible to pair my true SegWit btc wallet for the next distributions?
Any new info on distribution? (website still says mid November).

As mentioned many times before in this thread.  This is not an issue with Byteball or the Byteball client.  The issue is that currently there is no standard for signing messages with SegWit addresses.  This is a Bitcoin standards issue, not a Byteball issue.  Someone needs to propose a standard and then everyone would need to adopt and use it.  I am sure as soon as a standard is created Byteball will use it.

Move your coins to a standard address some time before the next distribution (in March) so you can sign a message.

    Hi Tony!

I may not have the most active account here but hold quite a few Bytes.

I loved your interview with Marc and it's great seeing you at several other events recently presenting Byteball, and trying to increase exposure. Whilst I understand this project is your "baby" and that you may be a more risk averse person in general, I feel it would greatly strengthen Bytbeall if we had a CEO or marketing crew who could handle the PR and present Byteball in a more clear, focused and understandable way. Not to be rude but as a native English speaker I found it hard to understand you at times and although you answered the woman correctly about ETH vs etherisc, I feel that she didn't understand you either.

It's great to see you doing your part but I feel it's time for some professional marketers to take over. The website needs an overhaul and I agree that the headline should be: "DAG - Unbounded scalability, fast confirmations, no miners, no blocks, low fees" (e.g. hashgrasph website). A Marketing team could also assist with more exchange listings, website update, video production (e.g. hashgraph has quality videos for beginners and advanced users) covering many areas of discussion. This would leave you to do what you do best, coding and improving the tech, and let the marketers do their work.

I admire that you are a doer rather than a talker, but feel that again a marketing team could help with monitoring/answering in chat apps, and also assisting you to write weekly updates on whats been going on behind the scenes. A little bit more communication from Byteball to the community would go a long way, any rational investor likes to follow the news and stay up-to-date but I feel my options to do this with Byteball are limited. The last update on Byteball Medium was in September.

I would also appreciate it if a decent amount of the remaining distribution funds are designated to devs who are willing to build around the Byteball ecosystem.

Good luck and look forward to hearing your upcoming distribution proposals!

Why do you expect Tony to do something differently? Why you don't do anything beside complaining here and expecting from Tony to do this or that?

If you think you know better what to do why not:

    1. fork byteball open source code
    2. launch your own Byteball 2.0
    3. implement your brilliant ideas showing how better they are than Tony's.

Good luck and look forward to hearing your upcoming Byteball fork proposals!

    Your logic is flawed.

just because someone knows how to design and code out a dag based cc does not mean he fully understands market psychology or even why the distributional model was a self destructive mess.

I think Tony could do well to listen to others ideas and take them into consideration.

That is not being mean to Tony ch at all that is simply the truth. He is a great dev but has made some tragic blunders in other areas if his aim was to get this into the top 10

All you want to do is pump the price through marketing to get rich quick. There are plenty of other coins and tokens that do exactly the same. Byteball aims to win through technology, not pumping the price for quick gains.

Tony's goal was to get Byteball in the hands of as many people as possible because the theory is that the value of Byteball increases the more users it has.

Marketing Byteball properly attracts investors and users, so is completely in line with Tony's philosophy here.  Why is marketing such an anathema to some people around here?  Why is word of mouth considered the only proper way to attract new users to Byteball?
